"Delicious food, probably one of the best Greek places"

"Absolutely disgusting"
this place used to be so good to get a quick, decent burger. started noticing the cleanliness of the restaurant last time i was in and vents were black, door handles super greasy, just overall looks like the place hasn’t been cleaned in a really long time. makes you wonder what’s happening behind the counter. fries were burnt in colour, yet some were soggy or rock solid. burger was okay. definitely frozen. spending $30 on two combos is pretty absurd when they clearly don’t change their fry oil or make burgers from scratch.

Delicious food, probably one of the best Greek places. Reasonable prices with good size servings. Their fries just hit the right spot, even though you can see them freshly steaming with lots of grease haha if you are feeling like it. Highly recommend the burger with lots of pickles. I loved how they use finely shredded lettuce in their food.

Kid-friendliness
The place is very kids friendly including the seating furniture.
Came here a lot as a kid with my dad. Ten years later the quality isn't just nostalgic, it's amazing. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and they'll work with you through a language barrier. Got a foot long hotdog combo and a pop, was like 12.75, that's pretty damn reasonable considering it's in Burlington as well.

This is a local greasy spoon restaurant, the outside sign is not fully lit up and there is an old piece of wood outside the door as a ramp to get in. Looks very run down but I understand it’s also been here forever. The menu selection is ok and the prices are reasonable for the large portion of fries and salad. We found the fries very greasy tasting and there was no salt added not sure if that’s the norm. The burgers were good and I enjoyed the Greek salad. Not sure we would go back again in the cold weather as the restaurant is barely heated and I had to eat with my coat on!
Absolutely disgusting. Not sure when the new owners took over, but this place used to be awesome. I always used to get the Gyro dinner or the Gyro salad. Came in here for the first time in two years, ordered a Gyro salad. The Gyro doesnt even seem to be real food. Looks like they order it from somewhere, definitely don't make it inhouse. It tastes like cardboard. I wouldn't eat here again if they paid me. So gross.

I was here with a friend today, Aug 4, and we decided to get the chicken souvlaki dinner. The portion size was so massive that we ended up sharing a plate. The first taste of the rice was a bit bland, but once we added some white sauce and hot sauce with slices of the chicken on each spoonful portion, the taste was absolutely delicious.. . To add to that, the service was super fast, and the guy at the cash register was very helpful. I will definitely be returning here!

One of the best Chili Poutine I’ve had in town! The spice level was perfect. I love how they put cheese curds in their poutine. The burger was also very delicious and perfectly cooked. Service was also very friendly. Highly recommended. Thank you so much guys. I will be back :)

Charcoal Pit is very good value, but the burgers are very mediocre. The burger bun and toppings are fresh and plentiful, but the burger patty doesn't have much flavour - I definitely could not taste any charcoal. Fries are unsalted, but decent. Atmosphere in the restaurant feels very "greasy spoon" and tired. Fortunately it's kept clean. I probably won't go out of my way to get a burger from here, but I would if it was convenient. Downtown Burlington doesn't have many other options to get a quick burger.
When we asked locals where to eat they pointed us to Charcoal Pit. Apparently Ryan Gosling still goes here and he has good taste! Lots of choice on the menu, the gyros was decent and some of the best fries I have had in town. The place was definitely popular at 1am. Food could have come quicker (took maybe 10 minutes) but the guys behind the bar were friendly enough. Definitely supassed my expectations and would be back.

I've been coming to the Charcoal pit for over a decade. The food itself hasn't changed much, so thats a plus but the original owners aimed to please. Definitely don't get the same vibe from the new owners. The employees are extremely loud while talking in the kitchen area, and because it isn't in English I always feel like they're talking about me. They probably aren't but they sure make me feel like they are.

This place is going down hill. It's sad to say tasted nothing like Greek food. My order was made wrong and could not finish the burger after taking one bite as it was terrible tasting. The fries were also greesy and burned. I definitely won't be going there any more. Also please no gloves were being used to make the burgers or food. Place is completely run down.

Charcoal pit, is great. We had cheeseburgers. They were huge. Great value for the money. My partner had a strawberry shake. It was a bit pricey. But we loved it. Very busy for a Saturday afternoon. You won't regret it!

If it's good enough for Ryan Gosling, it's good enough for me. I ordered the Banquet burger (back bacon and cheese) with fresh cut fries and it was all cooked to perfection - exactly what I needed and had hoped for from a classic side-of-the-road diner. If you are out and about in Burlington and have a hankering for a juicy burger, make sure you check out Charcoal Pit - delicious and satisfying. A+
No way this is owned by the original family. Got a lot of attitude in here and could swear the dude used his bare hands to arrange my food in the take out container - another once great eatery bites the dust - I don’t give second chances - you have to be on your game at all times otherwise you can go out of business for all I care - bye bye

My friend and I came in after we were craving onion rings. The quality was so so good. We don’t think it should take 10 minutes to order two of the smallest sized onion rings for almost 6 dollars, but we nonetheless enjoyed the food. Have heard many great things about this place so decided to give it a try! Overall content with the visit.

It has been years since we came here, but today was not what it tasted like the last time we came here. The burger did not have that grilled taste I once remember. It tasted like it was put on the grill still frozen until cooked, the poutine was tasteless. The service was excellent, but the food was disappointing.

Ok I have been going here for many years. The salads are half of what they use to be. It is not even full of lettuce. This used to be a good place. I won’t go back. I get things are more expensive, and I am prepared to pay. I am not prepared to pay more and have the size cut to half

I had a wonderful time at this family-friendly hamburger restaurant. The homemade and delicious taste of their burgers really stood out, and the attentive, family-oriented service added to the overall experience. I’ll definitely be returning for more! Coming from Buffalo

The food is so delicious! I enjoy the chicken souvlaki so much. Taste, price, and the portion of food are generous! It was so good that I forgot to take a picture! I gave the 4 ☆s to the atmosphere only because of the small space for my 5 family members! Other wise is great!

I’ll give this place a 3-4 stars. I really enjoyed my chicken souvlaki salad. My partner got a burger and couldn’t even eat it. But it is a Greek place and he ordered a burger so who’s really to blame here. I’d come back.

The aesthetic is certainly there, and for $6 the burger was good, toppings and bun no complaints, but the patty tasted like a cheap frozen soy burger, similar to Harvey's. You get what you pay for I guess. Would go back overall.

You walk in, there’s people being too loud, it’s cramped, humid, it’s entirely made out of plastic and fake leather with a colour scheme of blue and white. You know the food is gonna be incredible. And it is. My favourite place to get fast food for it is fast, and delicious More
Staff and service was great. The chicken slovakia wrap was pretty bad. Probably one of the worst I ever had. Small, very sloppy and just did not taste like it should. I'm sure their burgers are good.

Unfortunately the quality appears to have ended when the ownership changed. The place looks very dirty. I don't think I will be back. Sad to post such a poor review. Hopefully the owners will improve as I see many other reviews that are similar. More
Garbage burger, no salt on fries, ketchup - did you guys buy it from US - tasted like a high fructose corn sweet ketchup too sweet, why are you still using plastic straws I think they have been banned. frozen patty, not thrilled - tbh I did
First timers at this restaurant. After my friend's fitness photoshoot she wanted to eat something that was a treat. We choose Charcoal Pit. Limited seating is available at the moment but the food was very good. Even my 6 year old nephew
I ordered a Feta Pita tonight through door dash. The pita was supposed to have lettuce, onion, tomatoes, tzatziki and feta. I received the last two ingredients. Literally just a pita with tzatziki and feta. Not to mention the edges were
I have been going to charcoal pit often over the last few years and just wanted to hop on here and give them a well deserved 5 star for there great service, friendly staff and consistently good food. see you next week! Jason.
Terrible quality beef patty. You could taste the grade F meet. For sure they chose the cheapest frozen patty producer to turn a profit. Could not finish my burger. Never coming back. The staff is nice though.
This place was quick and you can choose your toppings. It's a fast burger joint so it tastes like frozen burger patties. The toppings and the price definitely makes up for it. The meal set was ~$12.
My favourite burger place hands down. Food is still made the same way for the last several decades. Always good!

We ordered 2 of the banquet burgers. Loved that it was back bacon (peameal) instead of regular bacon. And got a side poutine as well as side greek fries...which were to die for!
The place has amazing food. Delicious burgers, with fresh topping. Just the way you like it. The chicken souvlaki dinner is outstanding. The rice is the best I have ever tasted.
We have been coming to the charcoal pit for years and it never disappoints even Under New Management they're great More
Amazing burgers and fries at really good prices. Not the fanciest seating area but good enough for a casual spot. More
