Just moved to Calgary so I decided to try out chatters for a new salon. I have very thick and curly hair so I tend to go to higher end salons and pay stupid amounts for a hair cut (as some stylists cannot cut thick curly hair well). I was hoping to be able to find somewhere reasonable that could still offer good service. The pros: the lady that did my hair was very pleasant. She was easy to chat to and very friendly. The price was reasonable and lower than I was used to paying. Cons: she wouldn't cut my hair how I wanted it to be cut. I had to ask her multiple times to thin my hair out and basically had to argue with her. After pestering her she finally thinned it out a bit but no where near as much as I usually get done. Every other stylist I've ever gone to has made their main concern what I want and instead she made a point of telling me what my hair needed and didn't bother checking in with me which seemed very strange. Unfortunately, there's only so much I am willing to argue with a hair stylist and I thought maybe she was right and I would see her point when I got home and styled it myself. Afterwards I had to go to a higher end salon and pay my usual higher amount for a hair cut (my hair was still so thick and shapeless it didn't look good no matter how I styled it). So now instead of my initial intention of saving money I have had to pay about 40% more to get my hair done the way I wanted it. Bottom line--probably not the best salon if you have stubborn hair but definitely well priced if you are looking for something simple.

My stylist, Fruzsi, was incredibly friendly, skilled and helpful. I'm actually taking the time to write a review because of the not-so-great experience with the front desk. There were 2 staff members in the front, but both kept chatting (no pun intended) with the customer in front of me... Even though she was finished with her transaction returning her flat iron, I had to wait for both (not sure why one couldn't come and help me). When one of the cashiers was finally ready to take my payment, I couldn't ask if she could recommend any styling product since both girls resumed chatting with the client in front of me and just handed me the pin pad for payment. My opinion is with corporate downtown clientele, they could've had an easy up-sale product-wise, but they were too distracted to bother asking me if I needed anything else. Unsatisfactory customer experience and the front store staff attitude totally negates my stylist's awesome one.

Truly, by far the worst haircut I have ever had in my life. The "master" stylist left my hair so uneven and my ends were so incredibly wispie that styling it was impossible. She was condecending in how she was explaining to me, a 30 year old (who has had her share of haircuts BTW) what a haircut is. I even explained it to her I did not want a HAIRCUT just a trim. I KNOW I have split ends but believe it or not the decision is NOT the hairstylists to make, to chop it all off. She said I was nervous which was why she was explaining it to me like I was 5. Yes of course I was nervous because I immediately felt ignored by this master stylist and did not know what I was going to end up with. Guess what I had to do? Go to a different hair salon and have someone fix my horribly cut hair. Oh I also had to chop MORE off which also mean't more money and complete heartbreak on my end. I put my trust in you and I will never do that again.

Picked the elite stylist, hoping to get a haircut I would love again. Wanted the shape put back into my cut. The stylist was very pleasant, however the cut is horrible. It has way less shape than when I went in. Looks like a mop. Wasn't even styled nicely. She did try to fix it when I wasn't happy, but she was quickly making it worse so I politely left. I havr no time ever to get my hair cut, not to mention money, and now I will have to pay to go somewhere else because my hair looks worse than it did when I came. If she would have at least styled it nice I could maybe have been fooled into thinking it was a decent haircut, but she didn't do that. When I offered to show her pictures of how I liked my haircut she declined.

I went in last Saturday and requested a shadow root. The stylist was nice and let me know that there was a 3 hour limit due to Covid 19. She ended up not having time to style my hair which I said I was okay with. My hair was still a bit damp when I left the salon and I could already tell it was a disaster. I was hoping that if I went home and styled it that it would look a little better - it didn't. I reached out 3 days ago through the salon's online feedback form that indicated I would get response within 48 hours. I have not received a response. I am really hoping that a leader will reach out to me and try to fix this. Picture attached for reference of how poorly this was done.

I had my hair cut a few months ago, and it was AWFUL! I have fine hair and a cute, short asymmetrical cut. The stylist cut layers into my fringe, when I never indicated that I wanted them, and then seemed to spend the rest of the time cutting things shorter and shorter because she knew she screwed it up. I literally had an anxiety attack in the chair. It has been several months, and I haven't had it touched since because it's going to take several more for it to even be workable into the shape that I once had. I need a trim but I would rather walk around town looking like it's grown out a bit too much than ever sit in that salon again. 0/10 recommend. Do not go here.

I had one stylist do my hair and really didn’t seem to care at all- she asked no clarifying questions about what I wanted or anything after the initial picture I showed her. At the end I had to have her try and correct some very uneven cutting and I was not impressed. The second stylist did my eyebrows. They were okay, but she missed a bunch of eyebrow hairs and then said “my eyes aren’t so good; I’m getting old”... then wear glasses. It’s pretty important in your career to be able to see detail. No products were used in either service. I left feeling pretty bummed and not at all how I should feel leaving a salon.

This Chatters location is consistently the best I have ever visited. The ladies at the front desk are always extremely welcoming and friendly and make me feel at home. I have been seeing Lena for (I want to say) close to two years now. I have never once left feeling less than perfect. She always takes the time to style my hair exactly how I like it following my wash and cut, and never makes me feel rushed or dismissed near the end of my appointment. I find some locations have higher turnover and as soon as I fall in love with someone they move on. However, the Core location seems to retain the absolute best!

Not impressed with the lack of customer service & seriously my Regular Stylist (ROBYN) Could NOT remember my Last dramatic cut & style she gave to me several months ago. I have to be honest & say 16 months ago she was nice when I 1st went there. Now... This will be the Last time. The receptionist (Amber) Never has a smile on her face nor a positive word to say either. Every time I have tipped & bought product. I can see why Mitch is not there ! Sad to say You lost my business.

I had a not-so-great experience at another salon and went to Chatters to get some help "fixing" what had been done. Amber was my stylist, and she is absolutely amazing. She listened to what I disliked about my hair, and provided the perfect option to get it back to what I like, while also being cautious not to damage my hair. I will be going to her for all of my future hair needs - she is amazing and also has a really great and fun personality which is a bonus!

Brianne is amazing! I came in after another stylist completely miss what i wanted and made me a brunette. Brianne took care of me, she assured me that she could help but helped manage my expectations of what was going to come out of the color change. She communicated every step of the way and spent 5 amazing hours fixing my hair. I came away soo happy and it feels like I've made a bond! Please go visit her, she is incredible!

it was so nice to be greeted with a smile when i walked in, unlike some places where you have to get the person at the front desk attention. Hot tea was offered which was a nice touch to the experience. the hair dresser was great with what i wanted done, she didn't cut off any more than necessary, since i wanted to keep my length and she gave me the textured/layered style so i was able leave the store beautiful and stylish.

Second, I did booked an appointment for hair color and addressed my concern through call but when I came the hairstylist ended up not having time to do my hair not even extended his effort for anything. This branch has a terrible customer service and thank you for wasting my time.

I had medium blonde hair and had booked an appointment for a cut and toner application with Vivian. I had asked that the toner just cancel out some of the brassiness in my hair, and that I was ok if it was a couple shades darker. Long story short I walked out of the salon with dark brown hair, and when I expressed how I was unsatisfied with the colour she just said was it would eventually wash out. Won’t be coming back.

No...seriously, go see Karen...I don't usually go for the cut, I go for the conversation...Karen did both and did a hell of a job...fantastic service, and booking is a cinch :) Perhaps I'll take some pictures next time I'm there, but that might make the experience weird. But they have lots of product and the receptionist seems knowledgeable enough and definitely friendly staff here!!!

Brianne was so awesome! Listened to everything I wanted and gave suggestions. I washed my hair after enjoying the styling for a couple of days and my hair is totally doing exactly what she promised. She is really easy going, easy to talk to and a comfortable styist. I was greeted promptly and I still made it back to work on time! Highly highly recommend. I'm very happy.

Chose to have "master stylist" Lena work on my hair. Waste of time and money. Thought I was saving $20. Should have stuck with my regular higher priced stylist at Northhill Mall. Could not do basic layering. Basically gave a blunt cut and a layer (a few strands) in front and curled hair. Convenient location. Nothing else to write home about. Cheap is expensive.

I can't recommend this Chatters enough. The staff is great, nice, and their quality of work is top notch. I have been coming here since they opened, and would definitely urge anyone looking for a new salon to try it out, as for stylists - Robin and Jenn are fantastic, and the receptionists are very accommodating. TL;DR - 10/10 would get my hair cut again.

Some other client being late was going to move my appointment a full 3.25 hours. It's the middle of a work day, i don't know how they can find that to be a reasonable ask. PROS: Incredibly polite and the reviews of actual service seem great but wow that really rubbed me the wrong way. will not bother again.

I had my first experience at this Chatters location a few weeks ago and got matched with Lena as my stylist. She was absolutely excellent. She knew exactly what I needed with my short hair that I am in the process of growing out. She catered to my needs and made me feel pretty again. 5 stars for sure!!!

Got my hair cut and colored by Kim and couldn't be happier with the results. He really listened and understood what I wanted. There was a scheduling issue but the staff went above and beyond to make sure that it was amended. Thank you for taking such good care of me and my hair :)

First time at Chatters downtown, the front staff was helpful and friendly. Jenn was great, she was very knowledgeable and professional. I asked for a cut with layers and side bangs & she did it perfectly. My hair is now lighter and softer. Would come back and totally recommend.

I decided to get my haircut at this Chatters location as I work nearby. Lena was the stylist that cut my hair, and I was very happy with the results and the customer service! She also gave me tips and advice on new products that I should try on my hair, which work wonderfully!

I had my hair cut by Gilbert and I am so impressed by his skill as a stylist. He was able to translate what I said and create a beautiful cut. Gilbert is also very easy to talk to. The staff at this Chatters location are extremely pleasant and customer service oriented.

I use to go to HedKandi in Bankers Hall but when my regular stylist went on maturity leave I made a quick stop here. I have been going here to see Jenn ever since. She is fantastic and always does exactly what I ask for. Top notch for sure.

I got my hair cut here by a senior hairdresser and it looked ok at the salon but I’m realizing now how it’s noticeably not symmetrical and looks choppy. Probably won’t go back, but they do have good customer service

The stylist was nice. Easy to talk to BUT I went in for a braid to keep my hair back for a few days...try a few hours. It wasn't even dry when it was falling apart and ends were sticking out. Waste of my money.

The stylist I had was very friendly but she completely messed up my hair! She bleached my hair for over 2 hours and now my hair is just falling out. Would not recommend going here.
