"This is one of the best Peruvian restaurants we’ve been to"
"Overall great experience - the chaufa was absolutely delicious and the house ceviche didn’t disappoint either"
"Beautiful atmosphere as soon as I walked in, the place is very festive, lively, and welcoming! The staff were friendly and very helpful! I ordered the “Jalea” and the “shrimp ceviche”"
"Just wow! I'm always looking for great Peruvian food in NYC & this place definitely has it! My margaritas were tasty and the ceviche gets all the starts there are! $18 for a fish ceviche is NOT expensive"
"The vibe was immaculate"
This is one of the best Peruvian restaurants we’ve been to. They have another location further uptown called locksmith bar We absolutely loved the fish ceviche, this is a must if you come to this restaurant. We tried the “mata hambre” with plantains which was really good. The chicken is soft and juicy, taste is great. I would highly recommend AGAINST ordering the Jalea (for 2)- this is a huge portion of fried calamari, fish and shrimp. We regretted this since there are other better items on the menu, like lomo saltado or ají de gallina. Our favorite cocktail was the guavasito, it is not too sweet and taste is great. The classic Margarita maracuyá was good. The pisco fashion claro is too sweet for my taste, but if that’s your thing this drink might be for you. Their other location Locksmith bar has better drinks obviously, I would highly recommend the Cantarito. Atmosphere, decoration, and service is excellent. Our servers were amazing.

Overall great experience - the chaufa was absolutely delicious and the house ceviche didn’t disappoint either. The serving sizes were massive as well which added to the value. My group also ordered the lomo saltado which was average. The maduros were some of the best I’ve had in my life. I’ve given four stars because some items were overpriced like a can of regular coke for $8. Also because halfway through the meal music was blasted so loud we couldn’t have a conversation which was really odd. Overall pleased with food but could be a better experience.

Beautiful atmosphere as soon as I walked in, the place is very festive, lively, and welcoming! The staff were friendly and very helpful! I ordered the “Jalea” and the “shrimp ceviche”. Not a big fan of the ceviche due to the bitter taste from the sauce, it gets a 3 out of 10 for me. The Jalea however was beyond delicious and gets a 10 out of 10 for me. I would 100% recommend and can’t wait to go back to visit. Great for a birthday party or friends gathering, especially after the dj comes at 8PM.

Just wow! I'm always looking for great Peruvian food in NYC & this place definitely has it! My margaritas were tasty and the ceviche gets all the starts there are! $18 for a fish ceviche is NOT expensive. I've paid $25 at other places and got half the portion I got at Chelas. Big sized plates and cute atmosphere. Definitely a hidden gem ✨️ Will be back! My friend got Lomo Saltado and she also liked it-- and the sauces were just yummy!

The vibe was immaculate. We were able to go as a girl group and have an amazing dinner while also ordering shots and getting drunk! The age group varied but all were included during night life. The food portions were HUGE. Filled us up for the night and had some extras for the next day. 10/10 would recommend!

A beautiful upscale restaurant in Washington Heights serving delicious Peruvian cuisine. The appetizers even out at $25 each. A little pricey but due to the fact that they are mainly seafood. This restaurant is not budget friendly but the service is great and the margaritas are excellent.

Overall - great food, decent service, and cool ambiance. All the food I have ordered here was delicious. The pollo saltado, and house ceviche were amazing. The cocktails were okay, but nothing to write home about. My girlfriend and I live nearby and this is our go-to "don't need to dress up but can if we want a special time" dinner spot. It's great!

The $12 aji de gallina lunch special will soothe you whenever your day didn’t start right. The definition of comfort food. The roast chicken and ceviche didn’t impress me, but the aji de gallina is what makes me come back.

Went on a Sunday evening. It was a full blown party. Vibes were good, just wasn't what I was expecting. Drinks were a disappointment. They usually are amazing. Food was excellent. Service has been better. I will give them another try because the other three times I've been during the week were always good. More
Excellent environment, friendly service, great menu choices, and really delicious food and drinks .

Absolutely enjoyed date night with hubby Saturday night. Music and service was excellent. Savanna was attentive and professional. Food was delicious! Ordered a half chicken with chaufa rice and it was one of the best chaufa I’ve had. I would totally recommend and return with friends.
Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken was so so good. The chicken was delicious and falling off the bone which I have never experienced before - so amazing! Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Antonio behind the bar took very good care of the experience. Going back in a couple days! More

First time going to this Peruvian restaurant and it was DELICIOUS! My husband and I were meaning to stop by and try it out since I’m Peruvian. I had “Aji de Gallina”. I remember telling the manager “this brought me memories”. I literally
Went during my lunch break for my birthday celebration. My whole hour went on waiting for food because there was a new chef and 1 waitress. She was attentive to ALL her customers and made sure we were ok while we waited to be served More
The food is excellent, dare I say better than pio pio. The drinks are unique and delicious. Highly recommend the guava based cocktail. I was not expecting the loud music for dinner which is why I’m giving this place a 4 and not a 5. More
I don’t normally write reviews for restaurants and I kind of hesitated about writing one for this place because I want to gatekeep, but I want to encourage people to visit and keep this place open. The food here is amazing and they do
Beautiful place! Food was delicious and drinks as well! Only thing I didn’t like service was a bit off but I will just blame it on the time we went 5:30-7pm

the food is delicious but a little TOO seasoned. a little less salt/seasoning and it'll be perfect. place is nice and the ambience is right More
Delicious Peruvian food and generous servings! The staff is very friendly. I loved the Guavasito pisco sour so much that I ordered two! More
