I started going to Chiefs Fit right when it opened, as it’s less than a 2 minute drive from where I live, and I love it! They have a parking garage so there’s always parking, which is nice especially in the snowy winter and the heat of summer. Their weight floor is fully equipped and new, with plenty of cardio machines, a stretching/turf area to do light weight or body weight work or stretching or TRX work. There are also tires and blocks and a sled and battle ropes for accessory workouts. There’s also a rooftop patio that has a partially shaded turf area and a nicely equipped weight area and some cardio machines. It’s nice in summer, especially the evenings. There’s a dedicated studio room for classes (which are included in the base membership) and is open for users when there isn’t a class. And with higher memberships you can get access to their recovery suite and/or their HIIT-style Combine classes. The locker rooms are equipped with lockers and also a dry sauna which is a great perk in my opinion. They also provide towels, hand towels for when you’re working out and body towels if you shower there. I really like going here because there’s enough space and enough machines/benches that I don’t have to fight to find an open machine or bench or place to sit and stretch most of the time. And in my experience most of the other gym-goers are respectful and re-rack their weights and wipe down the equipment after they’re done, besides of course the few exceptions that you’ll find at any gym but they are by far the minority. They also offer personal training, supplements, and energy/recovery drinks for a price if that’s something you’re interested in. I just have the base membership and I’m more than happy with what I get, although when I had more time I used to have the mid-tier membership and used the recovery suite often and appreciated it, especially the normatech compression sleeves (the legs one is A-MAZING). When I moved it checked how far my new place was from the gym so I could factor that in and make sure I could still go. Highly recommend!
Truly an unprofessional establishment. Took my boyfriend 6 months to cancel his membership. That’s right 6 MONTHS. When he first tried cancel, there was a “glitch” in the system, so he got unwilling charged. To make up for that, they didn’t give him a refund but gave him 2 extra free months along with the 1 month he paid for. After those 3 months, he was charged AGAIN, and they refused to give him a refund again and extended his membership again. After that, he was charged AGAIN. At this point he has paid over $200 in membership fees after he had already cancelled. After this, they FINALLY agreed to give him a refund, and this was a whole other battle. Raymond (who is in charge of memberships) was absolutely no help at all during the process and quite literally would dodge his calls. After the first week receiving no refund, he called in several times trying to get ahold of Raymond who was always “unavailable”. He would also drive to chiefs fit to try to talk to him in person about the refund which also got him nowhere. They made continuous excuses as to why the refund wasn’t processing. After countless calls back and forth, over $200 wasted, and several in-person trips to the gym, you would think someone would at least offer an apology for this inconvenience? No. Raymond nor any one else offered even a simple apology. Anyways, after all this time he finally got $70 back. honestly wasn’t even worth all the trouble. Really was just bad customer service from people that only care about a commission check. No one was helpful at all during the process, even a simple apology would have bummed up the rating.
I’m giving this place a one star. They lack customer service, all they want to do is try to sell sell sell without actually putting the client as your top priority. First I get an email that my membership was going to fully start and I could use the Overland Park location. I responded back that I wasn’t going to pay $140 to drive to the Overland location, if I wanted to use that location I would of gotten my membership there which is a lot cheaper than the plaza location. Don’t believe that they have a sale going on because they don’t. Staff is not properly trained on how to use the recovery room equipment. If I wanted to work out and only have access to a hydro-bed I would rather just pay $25 at planet fitness. Even Westwood and lifetime have better amenities than this place. It’s not 100% operational even though they will say yes it is. It is not, just the gym and some classes are. The cocoon, hydro-bed and tanning are the only 3 things properly functioning in the recovery room. I was also promised that I would get a trainer to see if it was what I was looking for. Which they wanted about $175 for a 25 min session. I don’t mind paying for a trainer but I just rather make sure the trainer is the right fit for me. Which all they care is to sell you packages. For what I paid for I don’t think this gym is worth it.
Pros: - Above average commercial gym equipment - Mix of 20kg and 45lb bars for squat, deadlift, and bench - Nice staff - Recent cable attachment additions Cons: - Three squat racks - Opening times are inconsistent - Turf is shut down for classes - not available for use for members - Debris in men's showers long enough that swarms of flies now live in showers - Can be tough to find a locker even right at open, with whole walls already locked by others in the previous day(s)/week(s) Equipment is all Nautilus and Hoist. Would be nice if they had a few extra options, but still solid. Equipment is a little more tightly placed here than Metcalf, which makes it feel a little bit more cramped some days. Perhaps this is exaggerated by the smaller cable section and having less squat racks. Turf is pretty small too. Trainers will kick you out when class starts. Not clear yet if they'll do the same for the rooftop turf (which is much bigger.)
I was a member of CF for about 2.5 months. The good = It’s a brand new facility, so the equipment is new and very nice. The staff is friendly and it has a parking garage that always has open parking spots. The bad = It’s expensive and there was a lack of clarity what my membership included when I joined. Make sure you’re clear on what your membership includes when you sign up or you could end up overpaying. Also - while the membership is month to month (can cancel at any time), there is an annual membership fee. Additionally, the “recovery” portion of the gym is closed the first and last hour of the gym being open which can be inconvenient when you workout late at night and want to use recovery after. Lastly, it takes days to get ahold of someone to change or cancel your membership. Overall it was a little pricy for what I thought the gym and service level offered but definitely not bad!
New management is stellar. Night and day difference. Been going here for about a year now and the last few months Juan has been on I’ve seen this place transform! Music is great now, always some cool jams playing that make the place a vibe. Literally feels like you’re working out in a movie. The entire staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Brought my friend here one time and he raved for a week about how it was a 5 star experience. The trainers talked to him, front desk was friendly, and signing up was a smooth process. New equipment and a clean facility are always appreciated. Hard to maintain with sweaty people coming in and out but they do a stellar job keeping the place crisp and classy. Not to mention the people here are easy to talk to and everyone kinda unanimously agrees this is the best gym in KC. This is hands down one of, if not the best gym I’ve been to in my life.
The place is nice but no intelligent planning went into the place past the front door. There is no parking at all for this place except the street. In a location that is surrounded by large apartment buildings without parking. Btw, the people who live there aren’t fond of you taking up their street parking either. Had my vehicle vandalized while I was in the gym. You can’t use the plaza public parking garage, as they will ticket you if you’re discovered going to this gym. They have an attached garage BUT, it’s not free or part of the membership. Plus it’s only limited to 6’ tall vehicles so good riddance trucks and SUV owners. So if you only plan to go at no time other than before 5 PM during the week, or live in one of the surrounding buildings, the place may work. Otherwise, forget it. The location is just for show.
First time at the plaza location and it’s a little disappointing honestly. I think there is plenty of potential for this gym and location to become top notch however I think the opening was delayed and then rushed. I’ve been going to the one in OP which I absolutely LOVE it but the plaza is closer so I went today and walked into technical difficulties with them pulling up my membership, broken showers/sauna, low pressure water fountains, masking tape still over walls and mirrors, boxes of unpacked equipment, etc. What was redeeming was the rooftop turf, the wide variety of cables, machines, etc. If you’re thinking about joining maybe give them a month or two to get everything straightened out and in order or join OP! The OP one is phenomenal.
ChiefsFit is, hands down, the best gym I've every joined. It's spacious, full of a myriad array of equipment, and compared to my old gym in Washington DC, it's blissfully never too crowded. Even better, I have Alex Jones as my trainer. Alex is skilled at helping you identify what you want and need to work on, designing custom exercise programs to target those areas, and then explaining what each exercise you do does physiologically. It's a perfect combination of motivation, knowledge and technical skill. Plus, he's just a blast to hang out with - I'm in the best shape of my life and having a damn good time doing it.
Huge open space good equipment, and it’s got great views of the plaza…the complaints are small but so weird they won’t do anything about them! No Kleenex in the bathrooms, foam rollers are horribly soft, and locker rooms have ~125 lockers, and only 2 benches that can sit 2 people each because the other 4 have broken and haven’t been replaced. ♂️ asked staff about the above and got the following responses: Kleenex are on back order (since feb 2023) They have special foam rollers down stairs by the front desk that are more firm you can use down there! Benches, no idea what’s going on.
I would go three stars but this is the 5th time a locker has had an issue. But this time, the master key was lost, the spare key doesn't work and I've been waiting going on an hour to take a shower and get my car keys. These lockers seriously need to be fixed. The other location in Overland Park doesn't have this issue. Cute lockers but bad execution. The fact there isn't an alternate route to lock up your stuff via a traditional lock is an over site. Just put small lockers in the foyer or in a corner of the gym because I'm about to be that guy that carries his gym bag with him at this point
I am knew to KC and the gym has always been like a second home for me my entire life.. I checked out quite a few here and Chiefs at the Plaza wins hands down as the best gym in KC- best equipment, music, staff, cleanliness, low chemical contamination, atmosphere, amenities, members!!!! And such an incredibly generous company to offer a 10-day free trial- that is unheard of in this industry. Chiefs has my complete allegiance and my membership of choice in KC. Absolutely love and adore this gym and it is officially my second home in KC after only a couple weeks here!!!
I have been a member of Chiefs Fit Plaza since the opening day and I have loved going here. The environment is great, a really motivating vibe. All the staff members I have interacted with have been great, super friendly and attentive. I have worked with Tevin as my personal trainer and he is great! Would highly recommend him to anyone. The only downside here is that things are still a little unfinished. Like in the locker rooms there are still some finishing work that needs to be done but doesn't interfere with the function of anything. Overall great experience!
I’m not a member but was curious about maybe signing up. I went in and front desk Jonathan was a pleasure to deal with and was able to answer all my questions. I’m new to the gym life after h having bariatric surgery and he didn’t make me feel uncomfortable or stupid for my questions unlike other gyms I’ve tried researching. Thank you Jonathan for being a welcoming and encouraging associate. They are few and far between these days sadly.
I am a travel nurse and they knew that. They did not specifically say I had to give 10 DAYS notice for billing and they make you pay the last month up front. My contract ended early at the hospital due to unforeseen reasons. They are still charging me on the 2nd for another month even though I messaged them on the 27th so they are basically getting over $200 out of me for NOTHING! 10/10 would NOT recommend!!
I have been a member of many gyms, but this is the first to keep me wanting to come back; great facility, terrific classes, and fabulous instructors. Tara Morton, AKA 'thelivingdeadliftgirl' is so elegant and will guide you through a challenging but calming mid-day class. I support other's comments about Britney - she always finds a way to challenge me. I highly recommend checking out this Gym.
DO NOT WORK HERE! Jack and I had a phone interview scheduled on May 23rd at 2pm, for an open front desk position. Jack failed to plan accordingly and missed our interview (I called twice). I understand a meeting running late, but flat out not valuing my time has me upset…. That was 4.5 hours ago and I still haven’t heard back from Jack. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!
I’ve only loved 2 gyms in my life this is one. Clean equipment and facility. Staff is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I changed gyms only because this one was closer to my home and work. I was saddened to leave my favorite trainers however to my favor they were coming to my new gym too!! Chiefs fit is now my top gym!! Train with Brittany & Tara
The gym has everything I need currently. The parking situation isn’t great but it’s on the Plaza so it is what it is. They close earlier than stated. They will lock the doors and not let you in if you come by for quick reps 1 hour before close which was a real bummer after navigating the tiny garage. The rooftop is pretty cool when the weather is nice.
I stand by Brittany Andress and her classes. I left an unmentionable gym downtown to follow her to Chiefs Fit Plaza. The facilities here are top notch. Clean. New. Vibrant. Many staff are familiar faces. Brittany is why I joined because her classes for my age, lifestyle, and functional fitness! It is perfect for me
Love Chiefs Fit on the Plaza. The equipment is up to date and the facility is always clean. The staff is so helpful and friendly. Highly recommend Anna-Maria as a personal trainer. She is supportive, listens to client needs, and creates the workout based on your goals. I always look forward to meeting with her!
I love Chiefs Fit! One of my goals for the year was to be more fit and healthy. I’ve been going to Anna, a personal trainer there for almost 2 months now and she’s amazing!! I’ve learned so much about fitness, balance, and my body and I look forward to going to the gym now. The rooftop is an added bonus …
State of the art equipment, extremely clean, great classes, instructors and trainers (Britney’s classes, Ryan’s combine, and Shane at the front desk- all top notch!) All staff are friendly and I love the energy and overall environment. A breath of fresh air from the stale, dirty, tired gyms around town.
I love my new gym! The classes have kept me motivated to keep going. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the lift classes with Britney. She is awesome. I feel so much stronger. I also LOVE MixxedFit classes with Taylor. She is so fun! The members are so friendly and have become family in a short amount of time.
Love this place. I have the recovery package, and it is an absolute game changer to have cryotherapy and red light saunas on demand. I’m also a huge fan of Tara’s yoga and strength training classes. She’s knowledgeable, affable, and perfect for the experienced and the curious alike.
Love the classes at Chiefs fit! They’re included in membership and there’s awesome variety in types of classes and times offered. I love that no matter my work schedule there’s a good time for me to get a good workout in. I’ve definitely gotten much stronger since joining.
My new favorite place in KC. Hands down, BEST GYM EVER. From cleanliness to educated staff and all the fancy recovery options In between. I’m excited for the next two years here! I loved it so much I committed to two years and that’s huge for me! LOVE this place ❤️ …
I was so happy when visiting Chiefs Fit in Country Club Plaza! The facility was huge and has so many accommodations. All of the machines were clean, the staff was friendly and it was a great atmosphere. I am excited to come back and train here next time I am in KC, MO.
My trainer Kyle is super amazing. He understands what my goals and what I want to accomplish on my sessions . The staff here is amazing Cassie the at the front desk is super welcoming . If your interested in getting membership talk to Ashley on the sales team
Great and affordable gym on the plaza. The friendly staff keep it extremely clean and the gym offers all of the equipment that you could ever need. The Plaza location also has a cool rooftop turf area for stretching and cooling down. Solid gym overall.
I love the facilities! The equipment and amenities are all great. The parking can be a pain during the busy times, but nothing is perfect. They have some phenomenal group instructors. I absolutely love Claire's early morning classes and Tara's classes.
I love group fitness at Chiefs Fit! Britney is very motivating and knows when to push us. It’s a great community and I’ve definitely gotten stronger. I can’t wait for the roof to reopen. The gym is clean and there is a lot of equipment.
Never been hooked to a gym/fitness studio the way I got hooked here. Britney, Tara, Katherine, Jodie and Desiree are amazing instructors. Ryann kills us with her crossfit style workout which I loved. Definitely recommend …
Great place for all athletes. All the right equipment and plenty of space. Alex was also a really cool trainer to get workouts in with and was very easy to learn from about movements, lifts, techniques, and goal achievement.
Very clean, but it's new.So let's see in 6 months..I am a member at some other gym.dont feel like it's enough to switch.if somebody is looking to begin this is perfect.. friendly atmosphere from members and staff.
Started working out at Chiefs Fit a little over a month ago and immediately started with my trainer Anna, she is patient knowledgeable and keeps the energy up the entire workout! 10/10 I definitely recommend
I am so happy with my decision to join Chiefs Fit! The group fitness classes are fantastic. The instructors (Jodi, Tara, Britney and Lindsey just to name a few!) are incredibly knowledgeable and motivating.
Anna Maria is the best trainer! I was scared to start using a gym again and she’s helping me overcome that. I’m learning a lot and I love it. Everyone I’ve met at Chiefs Fit has been so kind and welcoming
The clubs yoga and fitness instructor Tara Morton is the best! It’s obvious that she cares about our health and fitness because she monitors and instructs our group with care, consideration and respect.
I love the equipment at this gym! The staff members are all very helpful and friendly. The recovery area and tanning makes this place feel like a little spa getaway too! My favorite gym in KC ❤️ …
I have been working out with "Tevin" for more than a month. He is a great trainer and our training sessions are very effective and fun as well. I have already lost weight and could see the changes.
Plaza location has gone down hill. When you go upstairs it smells moldy there isn't enough ventilation in what is a parking garage with a few walls put around it. The front desk is rude as well.
Love chiefs fit on the plaza! Great place to get a workout in. Highly recommend Anna-Maria as a personal trainer! She truly listens to your needs and accommodates the workout to fit your goals!
Had an inconvenience and the GM Jack took care of me right away! Truly a great staff that cares about their members. Don’t even get me started on the equipment and recovery room… BEAUTIFUL!!!
The facilities are beautiful, with new equipment and lots of amenities, and I love rooftop yoga with Tara! It’s trainers like her that take a gym experience from good to great …
I had a great time with the trainer, Dom Parker. He showed me everything Chief’s Fit had to offer. If I was not moving out of state, I would have switched over by now thanks to him!
The equipment is incredibly easy to use and makes working out fun. The trainer Alex Jones is very knowledgeable and made training an amazing experience.
They'll raise their prices on you, and their customer service is absolutely terrible. Overland Park location is alright, plaza location is a scam.
Awesome facility. Super clean and staff is great. Tara Morgan’s classes are very on point. She sets a good pace and manages to challenge me too!!
Britney is the best instructor because she remembers your goals and works to help you reach them. You’ll feel stronger after every class.
3 stars because they lock the doors half an hour before they close so you’re getting less than you pay for. Overall clean and decent gym
Parking situation is a bit of a hassle, but equipment is top of the line, oriented and situated nicely, and the staff is pretty helpful.
Britany’s classes are the best classes! I’ve been attending her classes for over a month and I’m hooked. I try to make at least 2x/wk
Getting from the garage to the front door is a mess. The TV situation is not good. Saturday and Sunday morning hours start too late.
The gym has nice equipment. I have the pleasure of training with Tevin and he is so nice and goes above and beyond for his clients
Alex walked me through all my personal information on how to better my health activities. Gave me a great plan for success.
Amazing gym with a superstar environment. Very welcoming and attentive staff. Definitely worth a 60 dollar membership.
Great facilities. Classes provide a nice burn and sweat. Friendly & energetic instructors/staff. Top notch all around
O.P. and Plaza locations are amazing, super deprived at any other gym now. I love the smoothies at the O.P location!!
Britney Andress classes will motivate you, make you feel powerful, and build your confidence! Highly recommend her!
I have been training with Ty now for few months , very knowledgeable , resourceful and professional. Thanks Ty
Staff is nice, place is clean, modern equipment. Can get busy but that’s everywhere. Can’t ask for much more.
New to kc, tried a new gym and I love it! There are a variety of classes and options to get the best workout.
Weights are there people stare at you. I didn't get an opportunity to try out anything else around the gym.
Love the classes here at ChiefsFit! Everyone is super friendly and the facility has a lot to offer …
I love this place ! Trainers are awesome! Especially Anna-Maria ! She’s the best and won’t let you down!
Amazing facility!! Staff is friendly, inviting and helpful. Can’t wait to try all the group classes!
I’ve had four personal training sessions so far with Alex Kimble and couldn’t recommend him more!
Very clean and well equipped facility, good variation of machines. Loved the rooftop squat rack.
Brand new, beautiful facility. Friendly and inviting staff and great group fitness classes!
Super clean facility with great amenities! The staff is so friendly and helpful.
Great staff and amazing assortment of equipment ,free weights and other options
Beautiful, clean gym in a great location on the plaza. They have everything!!
Just another commercial gym that doesn’t actually care about their members
The gym very clean, spacious, Meech was very helpful! Her Spanish …
Top of the line facility, with outstanding trainers like Alex Kimble!!
