Tried this restaurant that had Google reviews dubbing it the “Best Filipino Restaurant in Edmonton”. Place is ChowKeni and it is located in the West End. It’s located beside a motel and pub where truckers would do a pit stop. The restaurant itself was cute and the staff were extremely nice. It was more of a mix between Western and Filipino food as you had to look for the Filipino dishes. I love sisig! In its home province of Pampanga in the central Philippines, sisig is a rough-hewn dish of chopped pig ears and jowls, first boiled, then braised and fried before ending up heaped onto iron sizzle platters. And it was delicious! It was a huge serving so brought leftovers home. I also had dessert, Halo-Halo. Halo-halo is a Filipino-style shaved ice made with sweetened beans, fruits, and jellies and topped with milk, Leche flan, purple yam jam, and ice cream. I also have a sweet tooth so I had Sago at Gulaman for my drink. Sago Gulaman is a local Filipino beverage made of tapioca pearls, water, brown sugar, gulaman, and vanilla Overall it was not a cheap meal ($51.38 with tax and 18% tip). However, I throughly enjoyed the meal and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and how amazing the athmosphere and service was!

I have searched up a couple of good places that serves classic filipino breakfast in Edmonton and decided to try Chowkeni today. If you are planning to try this place for their filipino breakfast, you must read this review! The price for their silog plates ranges from $12- $14, which I would say is decent, they also come with 2 sunny side ups that looks like quail eggs cuz they're super tiny. We ordered Bangsilog, Tapsilog, and 2 cups of coffee (refillable), extra garlic rice, and 4 pieces of longganisa. Now for the fried rice, the server will ask you if you want extra garlic fried rice on the side- I just said yes without knowing how much she would charge me for it and voila, $5 for a cup of rice! That is half the price of their silog plates already. The server had to ask her manager for the price of the 4 pieces of longganisa that we ordered on the side and she was told to charge us $7.99. Yes, $7.99 for 4 pieces of longganisa! The server is really nice and the cook seems friendly too and he is pretty good at what he does cuz our food tasted fresh and homecooked. Will I be visiting this place again? Maybe? Maybe not?

We were here last April and the food and everything was great. Yesterday (Thursday eve), we went back for a dinner. They have so many in the menu but half of it were not available. There were no Crispy Pata, no sagot gulaman, no rootbeer.. We ordered siomai, chicken lauriat, sisig, extra rice and halo halo dessert (to go). Also, we noticed there were flies flying around the restaurant… The siomai were quite expensive… $6.99 for 4 pcs but it was delish although the size of the siomai got smaller from before. Chicken Lauriat meal - it’s okay nothing really special, the canton seems old. Sisig - way too salty Halo Halo - sorry but it was the worst halo halo i have ever had. We did not like the strawberry ice cream on halo halo plus the sahog were all beans with two slice of banana only On the bright side, the server was very magalang and mabait. Pero sana po may consistency kayo lalo na sa food nyo para balik balikan kayo.

My husband and I dined at Chowkeni, and it was an amazing experience. The Filipino cuisine served here is truly exceptional. The flavors were authentic and transported us to the heart of the Philippines; every dish was a mouthwatering delight. The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that our dining experience was top-notch. They were knowledgeable about the menu and more than willing to offer recommendations, especially for those who might have a hangover. The ambiance was cozy and very welcoming. I highly recommend Chowkeni to anyone seeking a taste of Filipino cuisine and a wonderful dining experience. I'll certainly be returning soon. A special shout-out to Chef Rhogie, Chef Jo, Beautiful Sheila, and the rest of the team.

the food was very disappointing, the noodles were bland and there's way too much garlic, the steak was so tough I couldn't chew it and it was difficult to cut (I ordered a medium rare but it felt like i was cutting a brick) the spring rolls and dumplings tasted store bought. (like the frozen kind you can get at groceries) for a filipino restaurant I've had way better and I was highly disappointed in the taste, the presentation was ok. the service was great, we had a really nice server it was just too bad I couldn't really enjoy the whole experience when the food was a disappointment. the fettuccine alfredo with Cajun chicken was ok, not enough cajun in my opinion but overall it was way better than the sirloin steak platter i ordered. the cocktails we ordered wasn't very balanced (not a very good alcohol ratio way too bitter) and they messed up on the drink i ordered. went home hungry :(

I ordered Bangusilog and was very disappointed. The bangus size is so small, small serving of rice as well, and even the eggs are small too. They should label the menu (small serving) so people won't expect too much. Service is so bad, the food arrived 45 minutes after I ordered, and they also got the order all mixed up. This is the most disappointing part of my restaurant experience, they put an extra charge on my bill because of the performing band, considering they should have communicated this before taking our orders. It's not even a band since they just call out people whose willing to sing in front of the stage (like Karaoke). We felt like there was a little bit of a scam because of the overall restaurant experience. The atmosphere rating is 1 because the restaurant is too congested and they have filthy, dirty and disgusting washrooms.

My husband and I visited just now hoping for a to go but upon entering the atmosphere was so welcoming and lifted my spirit in such a special way just hearing Christian music was enough to get us seated, we were greeted by Nathan so pleasant he recommended a meal I was willing to try for the first time and i was not disappointed and Julie thank you for taking the time just to have a chat and share in our purpose of dining at the restaurant. Our meals were served not even 10 mins long, presented and tasted really good. My husband enjoyed his spring rolls, he quoted so fresh, so crispy thank you for your service! We absolutely enjoyed our food and our time there. Would definitely recommend to all Phillipines and others willing to try a different cultures taste in food. God bless you I won't say what I had please try everything on the menu

We had a reservation today @11am. We called three days ago for 15 people. When we arrived the girl came we told her about our reservation but she was in shocked coz she doesn’t know. She called the other person but the thing isn’t it when you have a reservation the table should be ready before our arrival? The staffs here doesn’t have manner didn’t know how to deal their customer, doesn’t even say sorry and do something while waiting for our table. Since it’s almost 1130 then we don’t know when we will get our reserved table we left that guy not sure if he was the supervisor he shouldn’t be there he doesn’t have good manners. We didn’t even taste their food yet but we won’t comeback till bud restaurant need training, need to know how to accommodate their customers not even friendly at all.

From start to finish our waitress was amazing! Friendly and willing to small chat about the establishment. Attentive with making sure our coffee was always topped up . The food was surprisingly really good and you get a fair bit for what you pay for . The Alfredo sauce was thick as it should be. Lots of veggies and the chicken was juicy and flavour nicely with Cajun spices. The won tong had a strong chicken flavour for broth and sadly not a lot of vegetables but it came with a fair bit of chow main noodles. The dumplings are flavourful with tiny bit of vegetable. Chow special is a definitely for a meat lover and someone who is hungry. Pancakes are better than smitty. They are fair size as well. Bathroom are kept clean along with the dining room area
Went here yesterday (Monday) for dinner as they had a buffet special from 6pm to 9pm for $22.99. It was actually rather disappointing as the food they served weren’t that great and were too salty, I had to wash off with water constantly. I was expecting more selection, as well as dessert like in most buffet restaurants. The space was okay, not too cramped but not spacious either. Servers were nice, nothing special in specific. Maybe I’ll come back on a regular day and try their regular dishes, but in my opinion, their buffet isn’t worth coming back for.

A good place to chill out on a Saturday night and join the crowd singing some karoeke songs. The cover charged is $5 which I think is quite reasonable. It's a safe & friendly Filipino restaurant to just relax while enjoying your food and the hospitality of the Filipino people.

My first time here. I had the chicken adobo. 5 chicken pieces marinated in a sauce on a bed of rice garnished with thinly sliced green onions. The music was a bit too loud. The staff in the back need to hear it also I'm guessing. Food was hot not spicy hot. I think I will return in the future

Very family orientated atmosphere, If you are looking for a basic diner move on. Their food has flavour! No just s&p, so good I recommend chicken adobe, cheeseburger w/ rice it was amazing I got panict to go! So looking forward toward lunch tomorrow. Prices are decent way cheaper than commercial chain restaurants where everything is 20$. I will definitely come again. :)

Went there for a buffet. Food was good but they refilled the food a bit late. People are waiting. I suggest that in buffets like this, they should organize it a bit more so people won't be waiting too long for food as well as to be seated once you get in. Overall our experience was good.

We booked them to cater for 120 people for a wedding, however, the food was great but the proportion of food was small. By the time the second half of the guest went up to the buffet, half of the food is gone. Worst thing is, the leftovers were eaten by the caterers instead of our guests. The food is good but if you book them, make sure you really finalize everything with them.

Exceptional service and delicious food! This Filipino-Western restaurant stands out as the best I've ever experienced. The service is outstanding, and the owners are genuinely warm and welcoming to everyone. Every Filipino dish is crafted with authentic flavors, making me feel like I've traveled to the Philippines and back.

We made reservation for 14 people 5 days before but when we arrived no table was prepared for us. Terrible service and arrogant male server. It seems like they don't want to earn money. We ended up eating a better Filipino restaurant. It's not our loss.
