Updated October 2023: revisited this restaurant early afternoon on 'eclipse' Saturday. It was packed as was the patio area which also featured a musician playing a guitar. Although the ordering line was long you could tell that efficiency was at work with two employees taking your order. The system also tracks your food in the preparation mode and for table delivery. They also have takeout which was busy. There were several employees cleaning tables and delivering food. The men's restroom was okay which was great considering the packed crowd. We ordered a macho cheddar cheese hamburger, regular fries and a grilled chicken sandwich with Jack cheese ; water to drink. We had to wait a few more minutes than normal, not only because of the crowd but because of the chicken sandwich. However this is noted by ordertaker and a sign on the menu. The food arrived warm. A large piece of chicken was noted and was tasty and moist, the hamburger was great as were the large amount of french fries. See photos. We spent about an hour there and our bill was just over $27. This is a great place to have your hamburger fix, people watch or just enjoy the outdoor music when available. I have no problem in recommending this place for great food and ambience. Visited this restaurant midweek after 2:00 in the afternoon. It was fairly busy, first time for a visit since the remodel. They have an enormous outside covered seating area along with a large space for inside casual seating . The restaurant was clean with lotsa help everywhere. We ordered the large macho hamburger half pounder with cheese ($11.50) and a chicken burger ($7.75) with a small order of french fries. ($2.25) See menu photo for additional pricing. Both were amazingly moist and tasty. This has to be one of the best hamburger and hamburger places in San Antonio and I highly recommend it.

Wanted a burger for lunch. I suggested Chris Madrid's. Hadn't really been there since it changed ownership and then the fire. The burger was great. I had the Flaming Jalapeño Cheddar burger. Had the perfect kick to it. It was spicy, but it wasn't where I couldn't enjoy it. A coworker had the Taco Salad (why if you're at a burger place but to each his own. Look good also. It is a great time of year to order and eat outside since the weather is starting to cool down. Also good to have a cold beverage.

What can be said about this San Antonio classic. This was my first visit back since the fire and the expansion/remodel was impressive. While you now enter through a different door, they kept the original spot to place your order and the old section inside looks just like it used to. The whole family got Tostada burgers and they did not disappoint at all. The Macho Nachos were just like I remember them and arranged the same way. They were a true guilty pleasure. I honestly think they have the best burgers in town! Service was friendly, but I had to knock a star off on the service category as the appetizers came out after the burgers. Overall though....a place worth stopping at!

Easily the best burger I've had in San Antonio, ever. Got the Macho Cheddar Cheezy. It was cooked perfectly, there was cheese everywhere, and the bun wasn't overwhelming. The bun was barely there and that's a good thing when you're eating a half pound burger. The fries were hand cut, but we're kind of plain. Definitely needed salt. Luckily they have it at the table. Easy ordering at the counter and the food came out pretty quickly, even with the place being pretty busy. We ate inside, but there was plenty of space outside. That might be a better option before it gets too hot in San Antonio. Friendly staff. First time there and everyone was very helpful.

Here are the pros: the service was great! They bring the food out to your table, and the wait times weren’t that bad. The atmosphere was super chill: lots of whole families and people just out having a good time. Plus they give a military discount. My burger was great, but it did fall apart, so some people chopped theirs. Condiments are readily available. Cons: they’re generous with the fries, but we felt the fries were a bit too greasy not quite flavorful enough. Maybe add some seasoning to those fries? Also, the nachos, while decent, weren’t what most people would picture when they think of nachos. Overall, it’s a good place and I would recommend for friends who want a laid-back place to hang out and enjoy some good food.

I've been wanting to try Chris Madrid's for a very long time and I got to pick where we ate for my birthday, so this is where we went. The burgers were good, I love the amount of cheese on them, but it didn't quite hit me as one of the best that I've had. It was a good burger, but not exceptional. The fries were an insult to french fries. They looked nice, but they were limp and very greasy. I suspect that the fryers were running too cool to create crispy, non-greasy fries. The food combined with the premium you pay to eat here make this an experience that I won't repeat.

Today was my was my first visit to Chris Madrid. The customer service was outstanding! The atmosphere was good! I recommend a brioche bun if available in this burgers size, it would help keep the burger together. My biggest critique is the fries. The fries were soggy, not brown & crisp, and as you can tell from the photo tons of grease at the bottom of the paper. I think the restaurant should make this a top priority to correct. The burger is big & I found myself needing to cut the burger in fours to eat it. The bread is not a brioche bun & did not stay together very well. The burger had all fresh ingredients!!

Alright. As far as burger places go, this was awesome. I had their specialty, the tostada burger and it was delicious. I do wish it was seasoned a little bit more with salt and pepper but the overall burger was good. It had refried beans, tortilla chips, bacon (which I added) and cheese. I ordered the large size which is called macho and is 1/2 lb of meat. I would definitely come back again. Parking was adequate and free.

Great food in a great atmosphere. They have classic tasting burgers for good prices, and lots of different choices to pick from. I really liked their Cheddar Cheezy burger, it’s dense and flavor packed, and a regular (as opposed to the macho) is enough for a meal. It’s a choose your own seating with inside and outside. Good doesn’t take too long to come out, but there’s usually a line. Overall a good spot to grab a burger.

Always a must visit when in San Antonio! My wife and I are from out of town and love making it to Chris Madrid's when we can. The tostada burger with refried beans, chips, and cheddar cheese is just the best! I'm torn in half. Burgers are amazing. Love them. The nachos, not so much. I was disappointed in the nachos. I was expecting a tray of nachos. Especially the macho nachos. I'm not a big fan of smash burgers, but the burgers here are really good. Flavorful beef, and something about the bun was soooo good. I normally leave half of the bun to save some carbs, but couldn't resist eating the whole burger at Chris Madrid's. The staff us very friendly and the guy at the bar was so helpful. I also love their patio area. It's very large and has misters on the fan, which should be a requirement for every outdoor seating area in Texas!

What this place needs is structure. because it's a free for all on the seating. I'm surprised no one has gotten into a fight over this. Exceptional food. One of the best burgers and shakes I have ever had. The flavor was amazing. When I was there, they continued to follow safety guidelines around Covid. Which was good to see. It was a busy day, so the line to order was long. Overall great staff, service, and experience. Would recommend to anyone hoping for a delicious meal.

The nachos were ridiculously small. I got a half portion and there were literally 6 chips with cold cheese on them. We basically paid almost a dollar per chip and the size of them were regular. The fries were soggy and unimpressive. Some tasted burnt. The burger with bacon was okay though the bacon was soggy too. Not impressed at all.

The burger here was definitely worth the drive. After hearing multiple people rant on how Chris Madrids has one of the best burgers San Antonio had to offer I felt obliged to try for myself and was not disappointed. Will definitely be back again in the future

Best hamburgers! Loved the chalupas. They are not stingy with the toppings. The macho nachos had plenty beans and cheese. The burgers are made to perfection and are loaded. Very good. Had the cheddar cheese burger with shared fries. Delicious! Meat patty taste like home made. Fresh veggies and the bun is buttery good. My lime margarita was on point. So good. Worth the trip.

Good food, prices are reasonable, and has a family atmosphere. Highly recommend this place.

I realized that we had never had a burger from Chris Madrid and when an unexpected date night came avail- we decided to indulge.

Best burgers in town! Must try spot if you love a great burger! Always a delicious good time! Happy hour starts at 3 pm.
