I bought a ticket for the premiere of my friend’s documentary 2 days in advance. On the screening day, I’ve arrived 15 minutes late due to traffic, yet I was thinking that I’m all right because my friend’s film was the last of the three films that were being screened that night. Nevertheless, the person in charge didn’t let me in saying that “it’s sold out”. I acknowledged that I knew tickets were sold out, however, I had bought my ticket online beforehand. To my surprise she told me that I can't go in "because all the seats are taken”. I said “how come ?! I have paid for my seat and here is my ticket”. She said that because they were so many people who wanted to watch the film, we waited 5 minutes for the ones with tickets who haven’t arrived yet, then we’ve sold the place of the ones who didn’t show up. She used the flight overbooking analogy to explain the situation to me. I don’t know where in the world they sell a movie ticket to two person ?! If I was told that you can’t go in because the doors of the theater are closed and you will interrupt everyone, I would understand. Nonetheless, I would never accept what just happened to me. I also contacted their support crew by email, yet I’ve received no answer. So I couldn’t be on the premiere of my friend’s film despite the fact that I had a ticket and lost my money.

WE WOULD HAVE DIED!! INSANE!!! I went with my friend who is a wheelchair user. The fire alarm went off and the build was evacuated. We were left alone in the lobby of the cinema due to the fact that the wheelchair+staff elevator shut down and we had no other way to exit. We were left alone for over an hour unsure what was going on, and no way to escape. Which is insane!!!! Thank goodness, apparently there was only a small kitchen fire elsewhere in the building, but had there been a real emergency, we would have been stranded with no way to escape, and surely would have died I contacted the building management and still have yet to hear back. I'm still in shock at the entire situation and how it was handled.... Not cool

I love Cinema du Parc. I spent most of my life in Montreal and I now live in another province but every time I come back i make a point to go there a few times, they are commited to showing quality movies that are always interesting, they have international movies and old movies and new releases, they show movie festival and documentaries. They have been dedicated for decades to show the public gems of the cinema that don't necessarly make it to the major theaters. Their Staff is Knowledgeable ( Thanks Vincent, I hope i have your name right and that you still work there) and friendly , the place is cozy and clean and the popcorn buttery. I wouldnt go anywhere else! Cassandre

This is hands down one of the best theaters in Montreal. Thanks to Cinema Du Parc I've have had the privilege of watching excellent classics, international features, and other unique films that are not always presented in mainstream cinema outlets, all in excellent quality sound and image. The theater offers a low-key atmosphere and the rooms are more classical in design which adds to the magic of the experience. The advertising is also kept to a minimum, unlike the usual nauseating bustle and bombardment of advertising commonly experienced in most theaters. Customer service has always been friendly and helpful. A+

This is my favourite movie theatre in the city. There’s always a consistent rotation of North American and International films and the cinema sizes are perfect for a comfortable movie experience. Although I dearly miss the charm of the old velvet seats, their replacements are very comfortable and modern. Popcorn here is delicious, and the little coffee machine makes a mean americano. Social distancing is still in effect which means seat selection is included when purchasing tickets, and the seats directly next to you will be blocked off to other patrons. Love this theatre, so glad it’s still with us!

Everyone who goes to movies at Cinema du Parc is grateful for the continued existence of this theatre. There are so few repertoire movie theatres in Montreal and this one has an owner with an avid interest in good film. With three separate theatres in this one location, there is usually something worthwhile seeing. More than this, there are usually eight or nine different movies shown each day The owner has invested in renovations which have included new seats. This place along with its French sister theatre Cinema Beaubien are well-respected venues for discriminating moviegoers.

Cinema du Parc has been around for a long time and they've stuck to a winning recipe. Cheap prices and quality films. This is not the place to see the first run of the latest Marvel or DC movies... they tend to play repertoire films, International content, and old classics. Sound, screen and seats are fine and the snacks are yummy too ($8 gets you a medium drink and medium popcorn). The location is in the basement of the Gallery Du Parc. This is my favourite movie theatre in Montreal - not only does Cinema du Parc show a well-curated selection of films, it maintains the charm of small movie theatres that is lost in a world of Cineplexes. I love the plush chairs, the excitement you feel bouncing off of fellow movie-goers waiting outside the theatre, the (reasonably-priced!) popcorn, and the way you can hear everyone reflecting on the film as you go up the escalator. Going here is one of my most-missed experiences during the pandemic, I hope to come back soon!

The place to go to if you want to watch anything other than a big blockbuster. For example, before the release of the new bladerunner sequel, they had reruns of the classic Harrison Ford blade runner which was a nice treat for the nostalgic crowd or those who had never seen the movie. Less crowded and noisy than bigger cinemas so its great for a date. They offer passes with multiple entrances and also often have photo expos on the walls while you wait for your movie.

Where I live there are no longer any independent cinemas, so I made sure to see this place while I was visiting Quebec. I cherished the experience I had here and saw almost every film they were screening that week including two French Canadian films that I wouldn't have been able to see back home. It was so great to have an indie cinema experience and absolutely nothing disappointed me. Great location, staff, film selections, menu options, comfortable seating, etc.

Great place to see foreign and art films. The theatre could do with a face lift and a better embrace of technology. Even if you buy your ticket online, you still have to stop at the ticket desk to pick up your ticket before seeing an usher to get into the theatre. This means that when there's a line of people who need to buy tickets, you need to wait in that line to pick up your ticket that you already bought online. Inefficient in this modern era.

Well, this cinema is for the film lovers, being one that presents the art movies, documentaries, and other low budget or less known movies. (It was here that I saw "Hurt locker" and we were 5 persons in the theatre... It ended up winning several Oscars.) About the facility... there is room for improvement, but I guess they don't have the budget. The bathroom is old and it shoes, as well as the chairs in the theatre...

I like this mall, there is a cinema in the mall called Cinema du Parc, but it's usually the mall I go to on my lunch breaks. It has decent washrooms, a seating area for your lunch, some good eateries, like the Chinese Noodle place. It's never overcrowded with people. Has 2 supermarkets, Metro and Eden Supermarche, which carries mostly organic. The cafe crepe eatery has great smoothies and wonderful cookies!

I love this theater! It's got a nostalgic feeling to it of a bygone and historic era in film...rather than the modern monoliths of 10 plus plex style theatres, this place harks you back to the small community theatres that you would find in the New York City Grrenwich Village neighborhood. The theatres are spacious and there is usually a place to park. Most important, they have good popcorn!

Love this cinema. Anglo friendly. Welcome area a bit run down and grubby carpet, with little comfy seats etc for chatting pre and post film. This has a lot of potential to be upgraded, esp for the cost of a ticket. Expensive pop corn and no cheap Tuesdays or offers anymore, so can be expensive generally for those without a big income. Still highly recommend for an independent cinema lover.

On every true cinema lover's list as the best (and one of the very last) independent neighbourhood cinema in Montreal. Excellent programmation of art-house, independent films and documentaries. Sadly, the long time owner as recently been bought out by Beaubien cinema. One can only hope Cinema du Parc will not sink to Beaubien's level of customer disdain or adopt its poor choice of films.

So many memories here, so many festivals, so many firsts, the scent never changed, the vibe stayed on point. Those bathrooms are so post film, gotta get back to the foyer but the vibe here is cool and Gimme Danger is playing on the overhead speaker. I miss this spot, seeing Dolan’s first flicks, Fubar the day it came out...sigh, I guess one day it’ll feel like it once did

Good venue for non mainstream movies. Sound and visuals were fine. Seats were ok also with a little less leg room than I liked. The fact that there were no commercials before the movie was great (They still had movie trailers for up coming releases). Decent concession stand. Prices were ok also. The cinema was located in a mall that had great food option was a plus.

It's pretty grungey but thats honestly part of the charm. I would give it 5 stars just for the movie selection but my only real problem with it is that I find the seats kind of uncomfortable and my neck often starts to hurt, especially in a long movie. I still come here often despite that though. Go to a showing of The Room and thank me later.

Absolutely loved the seats in the theater! It was all very clean and the process was simple. We got tickets on-site. It was a great movie overall amazing time!! Would recommend it to anyone who loves movies. Plus they play all types of films including classics. I'm also definitely going back. Thanks for the amazing experience!

This movie theater seems to offer a more international selection of movies. It feels a bit awkward getting there for the first time as it is hidden underground, you get inside of the small shopping mall on Parc Avenue and follow the signs.For some reason they want customers to show them the movie tickets when buying popcorn.

I went there to see Cat Video Fest, for which I found an add in Le Devoir (of all places?!). Bought tickets online ahead of time. I was not too tricky to get good seats despite arriving shortly before the show, even though show was sold out. I had a great time. Would go there again - best for quirky and hipster viewings.

Affordable (approx $14) for a nice, eclectic selection. Seats are quite comfortable and viewing experience is excellent. Seating is availability is posted (nice feature) and having the choice to purchase online or at the theater is a bonus. A happy rediscovery. I've made it a regular outing - alone and with friends.

Great movie selection. You can find classics and foreign movies here, not just box office movies that are usually devoid of substance. Last time I was here was a few years ago and the place was out of shape but I visited last week again: they have installed new seats and they are fantastic. Strongly recommended!

It's such an amazing place, the entrance costs me about $9 dollars and I bought a combo with popcorn and soda for other $9. I watched a Korean movie with English subtitles and they have a lot of options based on the languages, you can find French and English movies. The seats are very comfortable.

Fantastic selection of independent movies. Also, one of the only place in Quebec where English language movies are subtitled in French (instead of dubbed). One of my favorite places in Montreal to go see movies! For those interested, they also provide 3 hour access to parking for $2.

You can find some exclusively released movies in Quebec here; you can watch some niche film festivals (Brazilian, Indian, Chinese…to name a few) here; you can park your car for three hours for only $2 (great during the winter time!). Last, their espresso is actually not bad neither.

Leaving 5 stars because independent movies should live on — but sadly this is most likely not a place I’ll come back until seats are assigned. We couldn’t even see our film even tough we reserved a day in advance. The place was overbooked. ( We booked our tickets online prior)

If you go to Cinéma du Parc, you can still have a discount on parking if you stay for less than 3 hours. The seats have been changed, they are big and comfortable! The selection of movies still carefully curated, I can only recommend highly as always and for the last 30 years!

Support local independent cinemas! Especially a spot like this, which always features the latest interesting films and documentaries. I love when they play throwback vintage hits, too! The food stall is fairly minimal but they do have popcorn, drinks, and chocolate/candies.

Great Indie place. Underground parking is only $2 and easily accessible. Should be more places like this in Montreal. Film selection is normally Indie type. Lots big foreign films you wouldn't see elsewhere. Great Metro supermarket in thllis McGill ghetto.

My favourite theatre in town. Features international and indie festival films you won't find at the bigger theatre chains. Probably the most comfortable theatre seats. Staff is great and the movie goers respectful. The must-go location for cinema lovers.

Artsy-fartsy cinema that has an underground, rough-around-the-edges feel. One of the only places in the city to see rare or exclusive films. If you like foreign films or cinema that deviates away from mass-produced Hollywood films, this is your place.

Always a nice experience at Cinema du Parc! The seats are comfortable, health and safety protocols are observed, the movie selection is consistently excellent and the snack options and prices are reasonable. Much better than the big chains out there!

What a gem. Love the old movies.. the foreign movies.. the quiet atmosphere.. the tea (kusmi) Even the popcorn prices are reasonable. I would only suggest that they play old movies more often. Watching Space Odyssey on a big screen was a real treat.

Good independant movies and some not so independant, some good foreign films and movies you normally not find in mainstream movie theatres. You can buy tickets in advance from a machine (even if the place is closed) but there are no seats assigned

My favourite movie theatre in the city! Tends to use subtitles rather than dub, well curated, nice new seats with little tables and cup holders that end up being super handy! Also they have healthy drink options (loop). Real local theatre vibes

One of my favorite movie theaters in Montreal. A smaller theater, but none the less, the quality of the movies they present if fantastic. Definitely a must if you like the "film de répertoire". Just a few block up north of Metro Place-D'Armes.

Why are the seats so comfortable here...? It's always clean and the seats recline and the movies are good. Super nice staff. I went during Pride and there was an enormous party going on upstairs. Heard absolutely none of it in the theatre.

My favorite cinema in Montréal! A must for any cinéphile ;) Great staff, great movie selection and I love their midnight movie (Fridays and Saturdays only) where they present remastered 4K (or 35mm) version of some of the best cult movies.

I first found out about this cinema when I went to see the movie Stoker. It was one of the few places that was showing the movie. My friend and I loved it there. It's small and intimate and they screen lots of indie and foreign movies!

amazing customer service. I was a complete idiote and purchase tickets online for the wrong day. I showed up for the movie and they were able to fix everything. Understanding and caring people that make me feel like more than a number.

I love their parc at midnight movies program. They play all sorts of great classic and cult classic movies at 11:30 friday and saturday nights. Gives us movie lovers a chance to experience our favorite movies on the big screen.

I used to love this cinema, it's really gone downhill. 1/3 of the chairs are broken or ripped. Most of them are all stained. It smells really bad in the cinema, the smell of urine. On the bright side, the popcorn is still good

We came here to see Everything, everywhere, all at once and absolutely loved it. Thank you for being the only cinéma to showcase this extended cut and keeping the culture alive for film!!! We will be back for more.

Excellent variety of films. Really comfortable seats in the theater. A little costly at $13 per ticket, but not the end of the world (and they have a card for members that brings the price to a reasonable amount).

Good thing about this cinema is that you can find movies not shown anywhere else. The bad thing is that all seats are on the same level so this makes it hard to see the screen when taller people sit in front you

Great renovation on the seats, best in town, and perfect quality v price on popcorn , drinks and other treats. Super nice staff, clearly happy to be there. Sound system is adaqute but could be updated though.

Love this little theatre that typically plays indie movies. Many of them critically acclaimed. Tucked in Galeries du Parc, it has comfortable seating and decent audio/visual tech for the movies being played.

Not sure why the seats are not elevated. Makes for a weird viewing experience. The maitre'd recommended a film for my kids that was at least rated 18. Had to leave 30% into the movie. Nice aesthetics though.

Old theatre that smells of 50 year old popcorn and humidy, the seats could use some upgrade. But still one of the few theatres that will show foreign and indie movies. For that alone, it deserves a 4 star

First time I went there was to watch Parasite(movie of the year for 2019!). The chairs were really comfortable and you could incline them enough to see the screen properly. It was a good experience!

The theatre is quite nice, the problem is that at night there are a lot of drunk homeless people screaming on the Main Street towards the metro station. This can make a lone walker a bit concerned.

Cinema du Parc has changed for the better. The picture screen is new and clear. The sound system is new and clear. The seats are new and comfortable. It is a perfect place to watch a movie.

I’ve only had great experiences here. Great location also; Dollarama right outside so you can get some snacks before going in. They always have a great selection of films as well. Great.

First time in my life watching a Persian movie in theaters. It was quite a new experience and didn't even know we had that here in Montreal!! It was a good experience overall.

Always has a great film selection. Nice friendly staff and reasonable prices. They often play classics or host special event screenings that make for a fun theatre experience.

Came here for the first time, cool experience watching movies in a small theater like this, very clean seats, wonderful popcorn smell and a good selection of movies. Loved it!

Love this independent theater for its selection of international films, low prices and chill vibe. Equipment and comfort aren't top notch, but that's not why you come here.

The staff is great, the movies are well curated, the popcorn is good, the seats are comfy, the ads/pre-screening content is fun/interesting/entertaining. All you need :).

Went to a special screening of The Room and had a wild time. There's cheap underground parking which makes it that much easier to plan an outing. Will definitely be back.

Great theatre, good for Indian cinemas. They actually have an interval for the Indian audiences, which really helps. The beer selection could be improved though.

My favourite Montreal cinema. Excellent art house movies. Take advantage of the multi admission ticket and the cheap parking. Decent food court right next door.

Not the best cinema around but it has a cute charm and decent chairs while also showing movies that might not appear in other cinemas.

There's currently only room 3 that's really amazing with their new seats but their choice of movies is also pretty well curated.

They always have indie films here! Their pack of 6 movies is also a great deal. Avoid the popcorn, usually it's stale.
