Staff and bouncer extremely rude!!!! Went in last night, me and friend took our first beers, she opened and left it for us and took the card for payment, we just touched the beer and it was completely warm, within 30 seconds while she was taking payment, we told her it is warm, could you please give us the cold one, she refused straight away saying that you have drunk it, we keep saying no we didn't please check the cameras, she changed it for us then, saying that you have to apologise to me or else this is your last beer; she was like u yelled at me and the guy who was next to her was not even in the conversation, don't knew anything and was like we will kick you out, our only fault was to ask for cold beers instead of warm for which we was being asked to apologise, wowww extremely awesome service you are providing to your customers, management need to look after this, i have been managing from last 10 years in customer service job, if my staff will be rude like this, i will never support them whatsoever!! No one wanna get disappointed for such stupid reasons and spoil their night!! Lots of other people were complaining too that lady and guy on counter were very rude, the guy was supporting that rude lady and he was rude too, there was another lady on the right hand side who was extremely awesome in service, she was doing the right job!! Please check ur cameras last night 12.20am!! I will never suggest this place with rude customer service to anyone!!

My friends and I were out for my mate's 20th and she had msged this place for birthday deals beforehand and we were told that there were going to be $5 basics and $10 espresso martinis for the evening until 2am. The two bartenders started overcharging us at 1:30am claiming that the early bird special ends then & tried to charge $40 for 2 espresso martinis & at one point a bartender said that mixed vodka drinks weren't apart of their basics menu 10mins after I had been served a $5 vodka raspberry from a different bartender. We spoke to management (who were very helpful actually) and they reimbursed us with free drink vouchers. The music was too doof-doof and didn't actually sound like real music because there wasn't any lyrics it was literally the same remixed beat for 2 hours with different percussion every 5 or so minutes so it was not fun to dance to and gave many of us headaches which made us leave the venue momentarily to take breaks from it (that was just us personally there did seem to be a few people enjoying it). Also the 2 bartenders were doing shots with one of our friends which I thought would go against their RSA - how can they responsibly serve alcohol if they were intoxicated too? The same friend of ours also was served $5 basics PAST 2am which ticked off the birthday girl quite a bit because she was charged $10 for the same drink at 1:50am. Overall its an okay atmosphere but could do with improvements.

Came down from Sydney with my friends recently and had a pretty confronting experience as we headed inside. There was a miscommunication and one of the security guards grabbed me quite forcefully and also elbowed my friend in the neck..she feels quite bruised there as well. I was pretty upset about the situation and was told in the bathroom inside by a few local girls that this is a common occurrence and the security guards are really unreasonable ? When we asked him calmly later that night why he was using so much unnecessary force (infront of the other guards) without any verbal communication first, he just stormed off inside..when we asked security guards what his name was - he apparently isn’t even a hired security guard - so why was he allowed to do that? Either way, I don’t feel it’s right (or legal?) for hospitality staff to use such force or to touch females in that manner. Really disappointed with how everything was handled and how aggressive this man was. Whilst I don’t know his name he was Caucasian looking and had tattoos on is neck. Wish I had read some of the reviews prior or asked a local about this place beforehand as it seems to be a common theme in some of these reviews. Can the owner take these reviews more seriously as I can only imagine how many others may have experience something similar but haven’t contacted the venue or left a review…

Worst place for event ever. Do not book!!! Bar staff do not know how to make any cocktails u order. They guess everything. If you do not use your bar tab before 12pm they will send you on your way regardless. Most speakers in venue do not work. Venue won't give back cutlery for birthday cake even though they told us to bring it. Bar staff remove pips from drinks via their hands...was made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome by bar staff and security once upstairs was open to general public...pretty much shoved outside..had lots of trouble getting back in...once inside again found out all my bar tab was invalid.. .even though was told by multiple staff that I could go back upstairs and use it. Such an atrocious way to end a 30th Birthday. Venue needs to reevaluate their morals rather than rushing to get the younger 19 year olds in who are off their head on drugs. I cannot stress enough as to how upset and disappointed I am with how the night went. I booked this venue in the hopes of everything going smoothly. It did not. Do not ever book with this venue. A word of warning

Would have been a good night when we went on ANZAC Day but the guy who was deciding who gets in (tall guy, with an earpiece, not a bouncer) was an absolute prick to my friend. She is not from Australia and cannot speak English so well. We both came happy with not a drop of alcohol in our blood. She had a friend in the club who told her she should come in as a VIP. She has mistaken it for being on a guest list. That arrogant staff member outside called her a "liar" and gave a fantastic impression of Melbourne clubs. We did get in though. I found it funny, such ridiculous behaviour by a guy who has confidence issues but she was quite insulted. I have managed and worked in bars for a while and i'd never let my door people treat anyone like that. You guys do have a really cool bar but better speak to some of your staff members. People want to come and party to the sound of your great DJ's and they pay a lot of money so please treat them with the minimum amount of respect. Peace

My female friend had a drink thrown in her face by a security guard and called her a bit*h, she was then forcefully shoved twice onto a busy road by a large, aggressive and very angry man. It’s disgusting to think that management employ female staff, but have misogynistic, horrible and ugly men at the door. Must be a very unsafe and uncomfortable working environment, particularly for the female staff if management think that this is okay. I also feel genuinely sorry for any girlfriends, wives or daughters of these security guards as it must be horrible living with men who think it is okay to treat women this way.

worst place in the world, the security guard at the front with long beard told me only guest list, then i send my aussie mates then he will let them in because they are white boys and my mates told me there is no guest list, it’s a racist place or the management is racist, i myself own a restaurant chain , and two of the restaurants are just at chapel street i was just out with my staff, i am sure the owners are not like that i own over 20 bussiness and we treat all the customers same, it must the management mistake.owner of the business can never be like that,i have emailed the management aswell. that is really a discus-sting and racist behaviour towards people of colour.

The blonde 'lady' on the door is awful and unsympathetic to patrons. My five friends had already entered to venue and paid the entry fee ($20 per person) and as i went to withdraw money from the ATM attached next to the nightclub it swallowed my card, on top of that my phone was dead. I asked the lady (presumably the door manager) if either myself or a staff member could assist me in getting a friend so they could pay my door entry. I was met with a massive amount of verbal abuse and as a result felt so uncomfortable that i left the building and was forced wait for my friends to find me. Very unprofessional unwelcoming staff, I wouldn't recommend this venue to others.

My friend came to join my girlfriend and I quite late in the evening/early in the morning, he is from Sri Lanka and immediately they told him no entry unless you have a wrist band or stamp, this was understandable but not even 5 minutes later I watched them let in 4 white males that had neither. I understand they want to keep the men:women ratio even at this club but even as I came out to ask him be let in with me they said no. I have never experienced this kind of racism before, especially in Melbourne which is considered so embracing and multicultural. Absolutely disgusting.

If you are brown skin they just won’t let you in. The security is completely racist. 3 white guys just got entry just with in 5mins after they refusing me entry. This is what what happens when you employ low life’s with no other prospects other than to be security. Only time that they can be someone they show authority, because that’s the only level of success that they can feel, in their life. from my experiences this always happens at low end clubs and bars. And managment just lost a high paying customer, just like that….

I had my 30th birthday at the Circus Roof Top Bar. It was a brilliant night. Staff were friendly and very helpful. No request was too difficult. My guests didn’t stop raving about the venue. It was styled perfectly and I loved that I could change the lighting colour to match my pink theme. The drinks and canapé menu is fantastic and a lot cheaper than other venues. It was nice to be served fresh food that wasn’t deep fried. Definitely consider this venue for your next function. Thanks to Kara for organising the night

All I can start by saying is that Circus is a great bar for those who want to socialise and dance at the same time till 9am! Decent entry price of $25 The ground floor wasn't as crowded as the second floor! Great house music on the second floor and very breathable as it's exposed to the outside, so no one would be sweating! The price of the drinks however were abit too expensive compared to the same type and quantity of cocktails in other bars. Key selling point would be that they stay open till 9am. Cheers

This bar let me in but not my partner and mate, but continue doing to let other males/men in even after the bouncer said they needed more female to go in to many men, and I watched 10 guys come out and they let 4-6guts in while we where pushed aside then I was aloud to go in $20 at the door drove through the at my home town in Grantsville to b turned away from 4other night clubs in the aria, you have to now b a member of the club or go online to book what total uta bs

This place is so picturesque. It really feels like you’re walking into a circus car or train. Very well decorated and the place was packed. The VIP booths are like your own private cabin in a with cool Circus style draping. Thanks steam punk with more vibrant colors. I was there until the sun came up and only left because they close the roof deck for better crowd control. Good people, good energy. I will be back.

I don't know what the hell the security was trying to do there today. I came all the way from Cairns to experience the club life in Melbourne but the way they discriminated against me for no bloody reason and on inquiry they had no vaild reason for not allowing me inside despite being completely sober and having all required ID documents. I think there was no respect present there whatsoever.

Its a tiny place which was empty even around 1 am and only few people around 2 am, doesnt have a good vibe. I wanted to go grab something to eat and than comeback but the bouncer wont let you get back in once you leave, you have to pay the cover fee again. I even asked two of em to stamp on my wrist as the lady at the reception told me that they would do it but they refused.

Mint little club with upper outdoor beer garden with lounges for munting out. Theyve Just redone the rear of the club, with upgraded fitout, sound proofing and upgraded sound to top it off....i reckon it's def sounding better than ever. Definitely get down on a Sunday when the techno kings roll through for Circus Sundays.....the place was properly heaving!! Massive!!

I had my birthday function here not long ago on a Saturday and was super please with the overal night! The venue decor is beautiful, the staff and management are super friendly and helped me and my guests with everything we needed for the night! 10/10 would recommend to anyone that needs a venue for their birthday!

Nice rooftop area; great for a celebration. The ground level bar and dance floor had ample space to bust a move and move your elbows freely, with enough seats to not have to claim your territory for a night. I might have missed it but the music seemed to lack a pop or spice I was hoping to dance to.

I used to love this place because security were cool and it wasn't typical South side arrogance..went there last night for the first time in ages security were on about some ticketed event and yelled at an old bloke walking down the street...sad to see a once cool South venue fall to the dogs

Security on the door will lie to get you in. They told every person coming in that a certain DJ was playing there when he never even came. The whole place was full of people waiting for a DJ that was never coming. Everyone please read the reviews about the security, it’s not worth going to.

Not bad I have been to better. Ask for a cocktail only one bartender out of like 6 I saw that night could make a cocktail. So you're waiting for the others to find this one guy. Some staff were friendly. Other than that not a bad place you can't sleep at night

$20 entry for an overcrowded area. Rooftop bar shut (wasn’t told) so didn’t get to see that. Watered down drinks and bad vibes. Older men hitting on younger girls and not a super mixed crowd. Cash only. Sure it’s got some nice decor though.

Totally love this place. Best rooftop in melbourne! love the booths downstairs and their saturday night DJs are awesome. Good cocktail list, reasonably priced drinks and a great atmosphere until daybreak...

Fell asleep upstairs for 30 seconds cause the club was quiet and not many people had rocked up. That quick power nap charged me up but according to management it was enough to get me kicked out.

Ive always had this club as a fave. I went two weeks ago but and with the increased popularity since ita opened up again you hardly have any room to dance! Also, its still cash only entry!!

Awesome venue upstairs for hosting events. Loved the 'rooftop' style and open area. The staff were super friendly when serving!

Hit or miss, even with the best djs, it's still going to be south side vibes. Audio system's painful too, consider earplugs.
