This place is beyond terrible and ridiculous! I just left this establishment after going there as a way to try and spend my Wednesday night. I had one beer here along with some chips and queso and they had the nerve to stop serving me, claiming that I “seemed intoxicated”. What an absolute joke! I would also like to point out that my queso came out cold and I could tell that it had just been sitting in the window, so I had to send it back to be heated up. The bartender was also kinda rude and kept saying all these stupid jokes that I didn’t think were funny at all. That one beer I had there is the only thing drink I’ve had all day. Plus, there was a very loud and obnoxious man sitting right next to me who was plain as day far more intoxicated than I was, but of course they had absolutely no problem getting him another one. I’m a very quiet and reserved type of person who is the type to go into a bar and not talk to or bother anyone, which was exactly what I was doing in there. I showed absolutely no signs of intoxication and was just sitting there being my normal quiet and respectful self. I also tried to respectfully explain that I was just fine, and that was my only drink for the night but they wouldn’t believe me for some reason. Only good thing about this place is that its cheap. I’m writing this review about 10 minutes after leaving so obviously I’m not that intoxicated if I can write this clearly and concisely. Like I said…. a joke. Safe to say I’ll never be coming here again. Also the owners here suck.

I've been frequenting this specific bar following it's staff for 10 years. I go because the staff are amazing people. Broadway, Brandon, Payton, Rachel, Josh, Degan, all of them are amazing at what they do. I walk in, someone has my drink ready immediately. Great SI spot. Travelers?.... GO TO CITY TAVERN! YOU WONT REGRET IT!

Good bar for downtown. Walkin past I knew any place with a flyer for Frank Sobotaka's re-election campaign in the window was worth a shot. And I was right! Entered and bartenders were pretty ladies with a girl next door vibe going. The domestic beers during happy hour were on point: $3.75 (including tax). Before 1700 hours on a Friday so I tried a burger with fries and tots, they privileged me the mix. Good, good for $6 when on special. Double cheese burger was dressed but over all about the same size bread and meats size you get off Waffle House's value menu. A bit salty so do not add anymore. Otherwise, definitely on point. And for a city like Dallas were a couple drinks and a bite to eat out downtown for the working fella can invoke the spirits of financial ruins demons.... I approve and suggest a happy hour visit :) Star deduction for lack of female patrons during Friday happy hour :/
This used to be my favorite place as a regular. When I first moved here to Dallas last year, one of the owners or staff whoever he was, was discriminating towards my service dog. That's the first complaint, I recently made friends with my neighbor who is of color and she was a regular too (very classy woman) until they were very prejudice and kicked her out over some catfish sauce. Like who does that? The catfish and drinks were the only two allowing me to come back to this bar. I should have just listened to my heart the first time. The owner still enabled the behavior of the staff because they still work there clearly. Unless you are Caucasian then I'd frame yourself from coming here because they treat you differently. That's okay, this bar won't be having our $100 tab and a very good tip anymore. I'll go back to Uno mas.

Visited Dallas this weekend and after a four hour flight, my group needed to grab a bite to eat because we were starving! While walking through downtown, we came across City Tavern, checked out the menu and decided to give it a try. The man waiting on us was wonderful—attentive, friendly, offered suggestions and was overall great. Two of our group ordered burgers and fries, the other two had a grilled chicken sandwich with fries/tater tots. Decided to add some lemon pepper wings as an appetizer. Needless to say, those wings were pure heaven—crispy, hot and flavorful. Our burgers and sandwiches were also delicious, as was the unsweetened iced tea I ordered. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend City Tavern. Food is terrific, prices are terrific and the customer service couldn’t be better. I will definitely go back the next time I visit Dallas!!
Elaboration: Was walking around the city finding open places that sold gift cards. Eventually decided to call ahead and ask before going to the restaurant. I did this with City Tavern and was told that yes, you sell gift cards. I get to the restaurant and the bouncer says that you don't, I tell him well I literally just called and asked someone and they said you did sell. He goes to ask another worker and they both start gaslighting me that there's no one I could have spoken to (I have my call records as proof). Then eventually they say that yes you do sell but don't have any in stock... Weird and disrespectful experience.

Meh. Hamburger patty was a little to hard. The cheese on the burger was only a little melted. The bun was too small, and the bottom half disintegrated from too much grease. Fries were good, but not great. The service was mediocre to poor. The waitress was nice enough, but she never came around for drink refills or to ask if we needed anything (I did). I had to flag her down each time I needed something from her. I may give it another chance since it is so close to my office, but my first trip was very underwhelming.
The City Tavern is a great place! I haven't tried the whole food menu yet but I've had two or three different items and every time I order food there it is really, really good. No complaints at all. The bartenders double as servers so if you really are starving, wave at one or head over to the bar and order from them directly. This will definitely speed up the process! Great drinks, great bartenders and yes the atmosphere leans toward the locals but overall a very "Dallas,Texas" (and elsewhere) welcoming crowd.
Super fun place to hang out, especially if you like watching sports. Tons of TVs, big outdoor patio, Golden Tee, and plenty of seating. I really like that they do a daily lunch special and a different soup every day. Highly recommend!

Wheelchair accessibility
The whole place is wheelchair accessible. They even have a long ramp in the back to get to the restrooms.
I recently dined at a restaurant that left me with mixed feelings. The food was mediocre, lacking the expected flavor and creativity. The service was average, neither exceptional nor notably lacking. However, my experience was marred by the discomfort of sitting at a wobbly table, which detracted from the overall ambiance. Overall, it's an okay choice, but improvements are needed to make it truly enjoyable.

My boyfriend and I went for a couple of drinks on a Saturday afternoon. We found a table outside and I loved it. I love downtown and grew up around there. What I didn’t care for was the service. The female server was only paying attention to the group sitting across from us. There was another table for two next to us and they too were not getting service from her. This place was not that busy outside. I will try it again sometime but hopefully the service will be better.
Looked like a fun place on the internet. But once we were there. Bothell the guy and girl bartenders only paid attention to the people that they knew. And when we went there were only 6 people in the bar. Terrible customer service .would not reccomend. You will have more fun going across the street to sweet tooth hotel and drinking in the calirosa cocktail lounge.

Casual, cool place to drink in unpretentious environment. Economical food and drinks. Can easily be left alone or chat with the patrons around you. They will have all sporting events on too. I ate both the tacos and chicken Caesars sandwich. Both were excellent considering the value. Mac is cheese is delectable too. If you are looking for fine dining or arts-fartsy drinks....this isn't for you. they are busy enough anyway.
Great place for a cold beer and a burger. Home of the dirty dusty, a shot of whiskey and a PBR. Nice friendly lunch spot for when you find yourself downtown. Place has a local pub feel and you’ll notice some of the patrons are known by their name.

Can't say enough good things about this place. My coworker and I were in Dallas for 2 weeks and we found comfort in coming here and getting "our" corner seats at the bar. Friendly and helpful staff. Good drinks. Great laid-back atmosphere! Nachos, onion rings, burger, chicken fried steak, etc. All good! Thanks City Tavern! I'll be back again.

Came in on a Wednesday. I had the spicy wings and my friend had the chicken strip basket. Both were VERY good. The wings were very saucy, so if you like it on the lighter side have them leave it on the side or ask for light sauce. Wednesday was $3 well pours and they were real good. Our waitress was Elena and she did well and even helped us find a night club to go to after our meal. Check this place out.
Friendly bartenders, super efficient, made us feel like the only customers there with a smile on their faces. Nice selection of tap brews, and there's nothing they can't make. Visited City Tavern as part of the Nightly Spirits haunted pub tour. Occasionally the double doors to the kitchen will swing open and closed by themselves. Never saw this phenomenon, but the friendly atmosphere was with the visit.
Every place I've eaten downtown is pretty pricey but this place has chicken wings 10 for $12 plus they come with celery and carrots so, not only is it the cheapest I've found but the bar is always chill. The staff are quick and make sure you're taken care of!!! 10 out of 10

Awesome clean establishment with emaculate updated clean restrooms and true authentic Tavern decor. The food is 1st class and way above the par standards for what one would think for bar food. There is a large variety of any spirits anyone could ask for. The staff is also very attentive to guest needs, and accomdate any needs requested. A must visit while in Dallas.
The best bar in downtown Dallas. The staff is so professional and friendly. Beer on tap is cold and fresh(no stale lines!!) and all the food is top notch ,really good!!. Lets not forget the patio and the restrooms are clean(very important sign)Everything you want in a neighborhood bar!!!

Exceptional customer service! Drinks were strong and delicious. Enjoyed sitting on the patio outside. I went there twice over the weekend because out of the five restaurant/bars I visited it was the only one that served Crown Apple. I Would definitely recommend going there for the drinks and exceptional customer service.

One of the best bars in downtown. Our bartender Mickey was tops. He made a delicious Hurricane for me and an unnamed but delicious concoction for my wife with Bombay Sapphire, lime juice, muddled cucumber, and a dash of sprite that she loved. Delightful experience all around. I had the Buffalo tossed chicken strips with onion rings and toast. Delicious!
Downtown Dallas is a wonderful place. This atrocity includes a patio which caters to the worst of Dallas. Vagrants from across the city will offer whatever you want. Barren women (some with a terrible British accent) will insult you until you’re forced to leave. The employees are understaffed or nonexistent. The worst of the worst abide. Be warned.
Good food and a great price. My boyfriend and I had drinks and food and somehow left only spending $35. That includes a good tip! We loved the chill and laid back atmosphere. Our bartender was really nice as well. We could tell this was a place locals liked because the bartenders had regulars. Will be back once we visit Dallas again
Awesome little place, great atmosphere, great music and great food! Walked over from the Hilton for lunch and we were pleased as can be! Had the fish & chips, it was fast, hot and excellent! I never saw the bottom of my tea glass (I was saving up to have a couple of beers at the Stars game ). Couldn’t recommend more highly! …
I tried to go last Saturday night but the front door guy (T-bone) said they were at capacity when there was a open table in the front and the place wasn't even packed! He said we couldn't wait inside and it was super cold outside. We ended up going to press box grill which was more packed and got in fine. Glad we did!
Great bar food and beer. We sat for a while before we noticed that you have to order at the bar. We watched a couple leave because there was no table service. We went on a Friday after work, so it was weird to not get a waitress. Overall I really enjoyed our food. Not anything too fancy. More of a place for locals.
Always a great experience when I am here. They have some of my favorite beer - Murphy's Stout and Lawnmower. My go-to's. Their service is great and I love it when they have live music. I also like that there is a small social space out front on Main. This is a great neighborhood bar. I go here as often as I can!
Lots of draft beers from which to choose. The server suggest some sort of rye ale that was great. Wish I could remember the name. The 5 stars come from the nachos, which, to our great surprise, were quite awesome. Fish and Chips were great, too. Atmosphere was quite relaxed. Friendly crowd and staff.
Best fish n chips I’ve had outside of Ireland. Thank you David and team for a wonderful experience. I look forward to our next visit downtown so I can eat here again. If you’re in the area check this place out!!

Decent dinner experience, the appetizers were good, and the atmosphere was chill, but the food was pretty standard for pub fare. However, our waiter was great, we really enjoyed his positive attitude and friendliness! Overall a great place to grab a bite to eat, we would come here again.
I simply enjoyed this little tavern. I went in the early evening and it wasn't busy at all. I prefer slow paced pubs, so it was perfect. Talking to the bartender, though, she said it does it busy during the night... If anyone is into that scene. Their selection is fairly decent as well.
Cool little hole in the wall. Happened there as it was across the street from our hotel. Bartender was cool. Service got a little "meh" when we tried to leave around 11pm, we finally had to go to the bar since no one ever came back to the table for us to pay but all in all a cool spot.
Such a chill place for lunch, wonderful service by staff and a laid back atmosphere! A nice little hole in the wall type of place to relax with some good food and nice drinks. Excited to visit again soon, hopefully I'll be able to update once I get a nice look at their drink selection
Great spot to come in and just chill! We were in town overnight for a layover and decided to stop in for a bit of a Dallas bar experience and we were so happy we did! The buffalo wings were some of the spiciest and best wings we have ever had and the service was impeccable!
I go for the well balanced burgers, rings and great IPAs on tap. Sadly the burgers have changed to mostly bread and a severe lack of seasoning. Avoid the rings, or just peel the rubbery batter and eat them bare. I'll be back to check in. The staff has always been top notch.
Came in very late from out of town not expecting much. Service was great, beer was good, and the wings were phenomenal. Genuinely surprised and impressed. Anytime I'm in town, I'll be back

3:00pm on a Sunday: We entered City Tavern and took note of the sign that states “Have a seat and Relax”. We “relaxed” for nearly 20 minutes and we’re not even so much as acknowledged by any staff member. Luckily, there are plenty of other options within close proximity.
Classic Dallas dive bar with really good food, service and vibes. The grilled cheese on sourdough is spectacular. No skimping on CHEESE. The onion rings are fat and well done. And they have a nice kick to them, probably from blackened seasoning. We LOVE this bar. More

I escorted a woman here and she absolutely loved it. I'm telling you that it is a wonderful place to be at downtown. Especially since Safety Patrol is always walking around and making sure nothing is happening around that area. I am a safety Patrol member by the way
I give it a ... meh... not terrible but the thing that got me was I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich which was described as a fried chicken breast, but I got a Tyson chicken patty.... kinda wild paying 10 bucks for a Tyson chicken patty but oh well I suppose.
Fantastic place for a relaxing afternoon beer. Such a cool and laid back environment. Their beer selection is great and their liquor selection rivals many pubs around town. Mickey is a great bartender, very attentive and very efficient. Really had a good time.
Hubby and I had such a blast here. The bartenders were amazing. Personal and great service!! They even celebrated with me when I got a hole in one on their golf game. The patrons were amazing as well. Next time I'm in Dallas I'll definitely be visiting again!
Had lunch at the Tavern with my sister. Burgers, fries, and onion rings. Comfort food on a cold day washed down with a brew. Great atmosphere, great service from the "Josh's ", and a great place to watch the game on a Sunday afternoon in downtown Dallas.
City Tavern is a Dallas institution. I first visited its old location off main street more than a decade ago and it's not lost any of its charm. Good vibes, cheap booze, and solid bar grub. True neighborhood hang in the middle of downtown D. Five stars.
GREAT friendly atmosphere. The kind of place where the staff makes you feel welcome and also facilitates a vibe where you can make friendships and connections with the other patrons. Fair prices, delicious food and cocktails, and great local culture.
Thank you Adam for going above and beyond for us today! Adam assisted me with obtaining a lost receipt for my boss and made sure he assisted us in a prompt and timely manner. Good customer service is a rare find nowadays so we truly appreciate you!
Would think a dive bar would be a great lunch spot? But it is! Don't come here for fancy digs but the food is always tasty and the wait staff friendly. Ask for the lunch special - changes every day and almost always an affordable and yummy choice.

As an outtowner, I ventured in for a casual place for a beer and some food. The place itself was what I expected out of a neighborhood sports bar. Dimly lit with lots of TV's with a combination of bar, tables and booths...it was what I was
This is the best bar in Dallas. A true classic, been in the city longer than anything else. If you're looking for something authentic in Dallas, good drinks, good people, and some grittiness, you will find it all here and come to love it.

Very good experience. It’s obviously a lively and good place to watch a game - big TVs and fun crowd. The food was decent and the bartender took great care of us. I appreciate the local beer!
Great bar/restaurant. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. Food was good and prices were reasonable. We ate early so we missed the band. Reminds me of the local/corner bars back east.
We ducked in here trying to escape the cold weather. Decent selection of local beers. One red wine choice but it was fine. nachos were really really good and service was FAST!
Excellent food. excellent workers,. Excellent entertainment. Look up “Trees Marie and the Heavy Hearts” I thought the space was too small for the crowd this place attracts.
It always has a crowd and they are awesome. Food and drinks are better than expected. I highly recommend if your looking for that traditional bar feel. Please never change!
I've been a couple times, and the food is good but the bartenders get distracted. It's a good hangout for regulars, but until you become one don't expect stellar service.
