I can’t say enough how absolutely AMAZING Cochon is! To try and put it into words would not be enough on how it made me feel! I felt over come with joy and a feeling of happiness. It was delicious! I closed my eyes with every.single.bite! Upon entering it is large nezzled quaint space. The fragrance was breath taking! Cozy firewood, and smoked pork belly filled the air. The layout of the food and tables and just the ambience was extremely romantic and jaw dropping! Our waitresses were absolutely amazing! Mrs.Julie and another lady who had glasses, really pretty set of nails and a nose ring, was absolutely the sweetest and best! They delivered our food with comfortable welcoming smiles and laid out our food for us including our utensils and everything else and was available anytime we needed, actually we needed and wanted for nothing! They were amazing!!! I truly can’t, and will never get over this establishment! I am from deep down south and cook authentic Cajun and creole dishes on a daily basis, and this God sent 5 star establishment blew me out of this universe and pleased ever single sense! I had sausage and chicken gumbo, my husband ordered the pork with broccoli, and Mac n cheese. We also ordered hog head cheese, and fried boudin balls. The layout of the hog head cheese came with crackers, and absolutely delicious pickled sides, and Dijon mustard. My mouth waters as we speak. And I still long for the smell of the restaurant. I told my husband they need to make a candle scented of the restaurant! I totally without a second thought would have bought multiples of the candle! Every single bite through dessert which we chose a pineapple upside down cake, with caramel sauce, and ice cream/sorbet that tasted of a soft possibly lemon(?) I couldn’t help but close my eyes, and bask in all and everything! This made my whole trip and experience to New Orleans. The best gumbo at any establishment I’ve ever had in my life. We will visit New Orleans just to experience Cochon again, from 3 hours away! Will be more then well worth the drive there and back. An absolutely once in a lifetime experience you must go and experience yourself! I would have had Cochon for breakfast, brunch, lunch, snack, and dinner! It was fabulous!! Food and an atmosphere that made you feel! I thanked God for this place! I used to despise the smell of burning wood, and on the way back home smelled the same fragrance and closed my eyes and it took me back to this restaurant, and I loved it! It’s like a warm, snowy Tennessee cabin, cozy, with a romantic view, and fresh fire wood in the fire place going, with smoked pork roasting over the fire grill, an ambience and fragrance I’ll never want to forget!! I get chills thinking about it, and the feeling of joy and happiness rushes all back swelling deep inside and feeling up my soul! To experience Cochon, is to experience life and all it has to offer, in all it’s marvelous ways!!! (P.s. they have complimentary bread and butter, and Godsmacked delicious as well, so fresh and exquisite like everything else!)

Fresh Seafood, Not great service We recently dined at Cochon Restaurant. The food itself was fresh and delicious, especially the "wood-fired gulf fish" prepared in the fisherman's style. However, if you're not a fan of seafood, this might not be the ideal place for you, as their menu mainly focuses on seafood options with only a few non-seafood choices. While the "oyster & bacon sandwich" was just okay and not particularly memorable, the "sautéed shrimp with sauce nduja, fried grit cake" was flavorful and enjoyable, although a bit too spicy due to an abundance of red pepper. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, creating a pleasant ambiance. However, our server's performance left much to be desired. Despite arriving a few minutes early for our reservation at 1:10 pm, we weren't seated until 1:20 pm. Unfortunately, the service didn't improve from there. As we watched other guests who arrived after us receive their meals, we became concerned and approached our server politely to inquire about the delay. Her response was dismissive, simply nodding her head without offering any explanation or apology. Finally, our food arrived at a tardy 2:20 pm, and our server served the dishes without a word of explanation or apology for the delay and mix-up. To add to the disappointment, she promptly presented the check, clearly aware of the extended wait time. Considering the price we paid, approximately $125 for two persons, we expected a more decent level of service. It was a good meal, but we weren't wowed by the service. For fresh seafood options, Cochon Restaurant may still be worth a try if you're willing to take a chance on the food. You might not get the best service, though.

A super bright and welcoming space with a great hostess staff and our waiter Mike, a former NYer, was fantastic and you must ask to be seated at one of his tables!!! We were seated away from the main dining room which we didn't mind but I forgot to mention when I booked that I would be ordering for 6 ppl, no joke, even though only 2 of us were dining so a 2 top was too small for us but still all good. The only thing I just found to be just OK...were the boudin meatballs. Maybe because I'm a purist when it comes to boudin, idk... But for me a simply perfectly grilled boudin where the center was split open for me to early scoop the goodness out into a piece of toasted bread with a bit of spicy sweet mustard is pretty freaking close to an orgasm. The balls were all seasoned boudin mixture rolled into perfect balls and fried. The frying just takes away the boudin flavor and it was just a mushy meatball texturally to both of us. The house made head cheese was unctuous and really well balanced in both seasonings and head meat vs. gelatin ratio. Can't go wrong with an order of crackling with a side of the local Steen's cane syrup to dip in, and their gumbo was spicy just enough! Ordered their famous rabbit & dumplings stew: tender rabbit meat in a creamy thick gravy and the dumplings are toasted on top so you feel like you're having both biscuit and dumpling in one. The Louisiana Cochon chop was one of the best we've had! Succulent and perfectly grilled! Will definitely be back every time we're in town!

First meal in New Orleans and we could not have asked for a better experience. From the moment we walked in, we were totally impressed with the ambiance and size of Cochon. There's two main dining areas with additional space upstairs and outside on the patio. With such a large space, Cochon remains well staffed and multiple servers were always checking on us to make sure we were well attended. The food was absolutely top notch, with a perfect balance for every dish. We started with the fried gator bites - perfectly fried and seasoned with a bright citric sauce to compliment it. This and the complimentary bread (so fluffy) really got my appetite going. For mains, we had the redfish and the pork neck (with trumpet mushrooms). The pork neck was extremely tender and cooked flawlessly, with a lovely sauce on top to provide acidity. All in all the meal was amazing and unforgettable, with great service to compliment it. I'd absolutely recommend a visit for a date, occasion, or night out.

We came here highly recommended by locals and our hotel staff to celebrate our anniversary and babymoon. We informed the staff while reserving and right at check in (and the check in staff excitedly confirmed they knew this) but this information was not passed onto the other staff members that helped us through dinner. We got in a few minutes ahead of our reservation but weren’t able to get seated until the exact time - which is understandable and the bar staff was helpful while we waited. Staff helping our table however seemed upset or hurried at times, though there was a gentleman running drinks who was extremely patient and helpful at all times. We ordered the pork belly that was on the specials menu and the smoked short rib - the short rib was probably one of the best I’ve had but my wife didn’t have such luck with the pork belly, it was hard and chewy, tiring to cut through. Nothing special for how big the bill was.

What a fantastic restaurant and experience. I went with friends but I am a vegetarian and I knew there wouldn't be a wide variety for me and came prepared to just have Mac and cheese sides. However after I informed the waiter that I do not eat meat, he told me the chefs will come up with something for me! Which was just so great to hear. The dish they gave me was a surprise dish but it was absolutely AMAZING. Fried baby eggplants in a corn veggie mix with what I believe was a balsamic/vinegar mix. It was absolutely delish. The Mac and cheese was also amazing and so was the peach crumble. Our server whose name I unfortunately can not remember was very nice and gave everyone at the table excellent suggestions and he knew his stuff when asked what it was. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We needed to eat ASAP, after being on the road for 7 hours. It was 6 minutes in walking distance from our hotel, so we decided to try it! It looked packed, but we sat at the bar so we wouldn’t have to wait. The service was quick, the staff was super nice and cool!! We even saw Sherri Shepherd! This is Essence Fest weekend, therefore I was so surprised to get seated right away, and have our food to come out super fast and hot! It was so good. We had the alligator and beef ribs with grits! The beef was so good and tender! The bartenders, Jason, Mike, and Wyatt took good care of my husband and I. Oh, and the drink was good too!! We were half way finished with our meals before we thought to take a picture. I love this place and will return!! Maybe tomorrow…

Our visit to Cochon in New Orleans was an absolute delight! .The Beef Short Ribs were succulent and brimming with flavor, while the Grits brought the comforting essence of Southern cuisine to our table. We also ventured to try the Gator Tail - a unique dish that pleasantly surprised us with its refreshing touch of mint. The service was warm and inviting, creating a cozy atmosphere that made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. And let's not forget the cocktails - they were simply top-notch, adding to the overall satisfaction of our meal at Cochon. If you find yourself in New Orleans, make sure to carve out some time to visit this marvelous restaurant. It gets a five-star rating from us without any second thoughts!

The only "bad" thing about cochon is that their dinner menu is small. We came here after looking at reviews and pictures of their pages and when we got there a lot of the things we were excited to order were not on the menu. There are only a few appetizers and a few main courses. The main courses did feel a bit overpriced as well, we had the porkchop and it was enormous/more than enough for two people to share, but the dish is just the porkchop, no sauce, no veggies or potatoes, herbs, nothing, just the porkchop. Needed something to balance the meat. The gator bites and the sauce were delicious. The cooked oysters were good and their oil/sauce were even better. The drinks were stiff but tiny. The ambiance is cool, but not snooty.

We visited this restaurant on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was maybe 1/2 full, but the amount of time we waited to simply get water you’d have thought it was the busiest night of the year. The good was okay, at best. The fried alligator appetizer was unique and delicious; however the gumbo and salad with pork belly was average at best. We frankly thought perhaps our bad service was because we came in wearing “street clothes”, we were not dressed up. We watched a similar couple come in, get seated, frustrated and subsequently left after not being waited on. Not sure if it was the manager (seemed to be in charge), but he and a few of the wait staff stood near our table and proceeded to crack jokes at the expense of the couple that left. Overall, very disappointed.

We had the most delightful experience at Cochon. I don’t even know where to begin but I’d like to thank the staff for being great at the chefs for the magic they work. wood fired oysters w/ chili garlic butter were great! The sauce is perfect for dipping in the very soft bread they serve after you’re seated. Very rich in flavor. fried alligator w/ chili garlic mayonnaise is a must try! The chili garlic mayonnaise really takes it to another level. crawfish bisque has a good depth of flavor and is creamy and comforting. smoked beef short rib, grits, crushed herbs, mushroom jus was fabulous!! The rib fell apart and although I’m not a fan of grits the mushroom and the ribs help make the dish sensational.

First time dining here on vacation. It got cold in NOLA and I didn’t have a lot of clothing options and when we called to ask the dress code they were warm and welcoming, so great experience off the bat. I had the Redfish special. Absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly. I am going to be dreaming about that fish for a very long time after I get home. Dessert was mouth watering- chocolate pudding, with a caramel whipped cream and cookie crumble. Service was very attentive and friendly, loved the vibe of the employees - zero hint of pretentiousness that you can sometimes find at a place like this. Like eating in your best friend’s stylish downtown loft who is also a professional chef and has a great eye for local flair and awesome taste in bourbon. Loved it!

Cochon is a must visit in New Orleans. The food was incredible. We had the rabbit & dumplings which was the star, but the catfish courtbouillon was a very close second. We also had the braised greens and mac and cheese casserole which were perfect for sharing. I can’t say enough about the quality of each dish. Don’t waste your time (or money) eating in the French Quarter. Eating at Cochon was the best meal we’ve had in New Orleans. Be sure to make your reservation on Resy! We’ve already made another reservation before we leave town.

I came here for a quick bite and drink while traveling across the country. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the chili butter oysters, and alligator bites, both absolutely delicious. The overall atmosphere and dining experience exceeded expectations. Jason at the bar was super friendly, attentive, and engaged in great conversation. I also conversed and received further recommendations for my stay from Chef Jake. All the staff that I interacted with at Cochon were very kind, funny, and made my experience. 10/10 would recommend this place.

You better make a reservation if you want to eat here. Wanted to go there the first night in New Orleans and they were booked. Went here on the next last night and the food was so good that while we were there we made a reservation to come back the next night. It's that good. In my reviews I often state I would go back if I'm in the area This is my first review where I said I went back the next night. If you don't like this restaurant you're a vegan and that's okay because if there were no vegans there would never be any available reservations at this restaurant. Give your vegan a hug today.

Close quarters so you'll be friendly with your neighbor. Hard to have a conversation at time because the place was so busy and our waiter was sometimes difficult to find. Okay that was all the negative out of the way... The food is incredible. The free rolls and butter were to die for. The fish and rabbit were highlights. The rabbit dish was like a stew. Surprising star was the cracklin!!! Wow. Never thought to dip them in syrup before but it was YUM. Would definitely return

one of the best restaurants in all of NOLA. of all the food we got during this visit, the quality and value really was fantastic. Nick, our waiter, took time to explain the menu, questions we had, and give us related recommendations. our service was some of the best we experienced in the city. Cochon’s appetizers, entrees, and desserts are all good choices. we got a charcuterie board, complimentary bread, empanada, oysters, rabbit stew, and a cobbler.

We stopped in for a quick lunch and ended up so excited about the menu that we ordered way too much food. Given the lunch time frame, the two of us sat at the bar and really enjoyed it. My husband loved the crayfish bisque and said the greens were the best he has ever had. I ordered their version of the green goddess salad and "needed" some macaroni and cheese. There were so many choices on the menu that we relied on the expertise of the bar tender to help us try the hits, but we are definitely going to stop by again to try a few more dishes.

What a lovely culinary experience! Started with a Gnarly Barley Jucifer IPA along with some complementary yeast rolls. Moved on to a delicious trio of fried boudin. Next course was the slow roasted pork belly with this tasty mustard seed relish and the skin was crispy and divine. The final plate was the smoked beef short rib that literally was able to break apart with my spoon it was served with. The fried broccoli was a bit tangy which really gave the dish some backyard BBQ vibes. 9.9/10

This is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. I went back for the first time in over 10 years and was reminded why that’s still true. Service was quick, friendly, and impeccable. The food was all delicious, from the amusement bouche of shrimp remoulade to the pork belly to my main course of catfish courtbouillon and wrapping up with an amazing apple pie. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and can’t wait to go back sooner than later!

I was visiting the city and this restaurant was highly recommended to me. I had the spicy grilled shrimp and rabbit and dumplings. The shrimp was good, but the rabbit and dumplings were the stand out dish. I throughly enjoyed the hearty stew like consistency with homemade biscuit-like dumplings on top. Reminded of home cooked comfort food. Service was also really good. My waiter was really attentive and was able to make great suggestions. I would definitely dine here again.

The food was good, I had the alligator, cucumber and herbs, and cracklins, and my wife got the grilled shrimp. We had a 5:45 reservation and were finally seated at 6:20 on a Tuesday night with 6 people. The waitress was nice but took a lot longer than expected to take our order. She did keep the drinks refilled, and the food came out hot and correct. The serving size was a little small, but the prices were on the expensive side.

Of the restaurants we visited in New Orleans, Cochon had the best service and ambiance, and the food, while a bit pricier than expected, was quite good. The boudin balls were perfectly fried and delightfully seasoned and the rabbit with biscuits was savory and delicious. The only dish that we didn't particularly love was the Fried Alligator. While it was nicely fried, the pieces were absolutely doused in sauce, which frankly overpowered the dish. It would've been nice to have the sauce on the side so we could dip it as much as we'd like.

My favorite dining experience in New Orleans. The (free) bread rolls were delicious and we were offered many servings of it. Fried okra was tasty and had a great sauce. My boyfriend got the Louisiana cochon which was extremely flavorful and well priced. I got the special which was shaved country ham and soft cheese. That was so so delicious. Our only regret is not being able to go back for dinner. But next time we will!

INCREDIBLE southern food! The rabbit and dumplings are classic comfort food with a twist. The namesake cochon is out of this world! Cocktails were great as well. No complaints. I am very satisfied with the food my coworker and I ordered. The first time there, ask our Italian waiter for advice. He was spot on, with personality. This was a good find. Had the rabbit & biscuits and the brisket for mains which were both delicious. The pork belly appetizer was borderline inedible and a steak knife didn't even do the trick. Drinks were great and they have a nice creative spin on an aperol spritz. Overall, it was really tasty but a bit of a let down with the appetizer.

Cool experience. The prices are good for the level of quality this restaurant offers! The rabbit and dumplings was great as well as the Mac n cheese. I also had the toad in a hole on one of the days that UT was available. Everything from this restaurant is fantastic.

Chat GPT did not fail us!! This was such a great restaurant to try out when visiting New Orleans. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. They gave us a free little appetizer. Great alcoholic drink selection. And delicious food! Had the fried gator, mac & cheese, and Cochon.

Amazing oysters and smoked pork chop. Huge but cooked perfectly all the way through. And the drinks — oh my! Had Apples and Oranges which was excellent! And apple moonshine with apple pie. Perfect. Service not so great. Server seemed to have other priorities and was very inattentive. Room was chilly but had a happy vibe.

We ordered the rabbit and dumplings, fried alligator and the beef rib. The beef was amazing, cooked to perfection and delicious. The other two dishes were more so just to try for the first time, we weren’t super impressed but that’s personal preference on taste. The service was on point! Overall, good experience!

Try it! I had the spicy shrimp small plate. Let me just say it had FLAVOR yall. So good. The atmosphere was comfortable and the service was nice. I see some complaints about the price, but I feel it was priced appropriately for seafood.

It was great that there was enough staff. We didn't have to wait long for anything and were always served quickly and had our water refilled. The staff were always friendly and could answer questions about the food. The food was very good. The portions were generous. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the menu is manageable. The choice of alcoholic drinks is wide, unlike the non-alcoholic drinks.

This place was fantastic! The food was incredible. I had the collard greens and rabbit & dumplings along with the whiskey flight. Such a treat for the palate. We did need reservations, this place tends to fill up.

Had lunch at Cochon Restaurant this week. I felt the menu is lean. There are very few items here without pork. Red fish is one of them. First time ever eating red fish. Then I finished off with a pineapple upside down cake with vanilla ice cream. Very tasty!

Excellent service and the best tasting food! We started with the fried gator and shishito peppers. I strongly recommend the fried gator! For dinner, we had the swordfish and beef short ribs. Incredible flavors in all the food. I strongly recommend both the restaurant and the butcher next door for a more casual meal

Fantastic birthday dinner. We went early and were able to get a table as a walk in. Definitely recommend getting a reservation if possible. Got the cochon special and private barrel flight. Definitely recommend the apple pie for dessert.

Must eat here when in NOLA. Make reservations even on a week night. The Wood fired Oysters with chili garlic butter appetizer was delicious. Save the delicious and hot bread at the table to soak in the chili garlic butter. Everyone raves about the Cochon! Cocktails were also superbly made! Enjoy!

The fried boudin was some of the best that I ever had. The short rib beef pie was done to perfection. The crust was buttery and flaky. The bourbon flight was one of kind also. All 3 were some of Kentucky's finest

Spur of the moment decision’s lead us to this restaurant! Atmosphere was classy and inviting. Bartender was spot on, food was subpar. Gator bites were a bit chewy for my liking but was the best along with the collards. The Redfish was HUGE, which I was happy about it just lacked flavor. Mojito was NICE!! All in All, good experience! More

Ok this is a fun place. The food is great. The atmosphere is fun and young. I loved it. Perhaps my favorite Nola destination. Get the cracklings- the alligator- the cochon pork. The board with various cured meats- pate - amazing.

The place to go for a good sample of Cajun dishes. We tried its wood fired oysters, fried alligator (taste like chicken pop-corn), rabbit & dumpling (biscuit is used for dumpling), and gulf fish (well sourced and perfectly cooked!). Friendly services. Trendy and vibrant, do RSVP.

This is the best food I’ve had down here. Everything is perfect. It isn’t busy and we got our food in a good amount of time. I can’t believe that I’m eating food that tastes this good. Definitely recommend we ordered every side and the buns are out of this world.
