"Perfect place for a morning brunch"
"So happy we found this place prior to our stay in San Diego!! They had the best breakfast, we stopped here 3 days in a row to try out different dishes! They are quick, friendly, and have the best churros & French toast!! ❤️ And that green avocado salsa Presentation and food are top notch!! "
"I was really disappointed by the food of this place I was expecting better quality food with all the good reviews"
"Not your typical Mexican restaurant"
"Food is phenomenal! Drinks are fantastic"
Perfect place for a morning brunch. First, I recommend coming here prior to opening on weekends as lines can get long. Menu is very fairly priced and has something for everyone. Pancakes are arroz con leche were well executed and delicious. Ambience reminds me of most restaurants in Tijuana, showing it’s welcoming Hispanic/Latino vibe.

I was really disappointed by the food of this place I was expecting better quality food with all the good reviews. I had breakfast and it was pretty bad I end up spending $70 for a bad breakfast that I didn’t even eat everything was drenched in oil and the taste was whatever. For sure not going back
Not your typical Mexican restaurant. This is elevated cuisine. The salmon Mole was complex yet light. Simply divine. The best ceviche I've had. Oysters were excellently prepared. Lamb shank was tender and savory. All the food was beautifully plated. What a treat. Can't wait to return. More
Food is phenomenal! Drinks are fantastic. Our server seemed like he was having a bad day. Had to wait for a table for quite a while and the place wasn't packed at all so must be having staffing issues. But, found a spot at the bar and enjoyed drinks while we waited. More
Great recommendation. The staff was very friendly and informative. The food was delicious. We tried the chicken mole Colorado, the braised shortrib mole, and the fish ceviche. This place is a must and do not pass up the popsicle margaritas. It's great for dessert. More
This place was so good, it reminded me of cuisine in Mexico. One of the best Mexican meals I’ve had in San Diego! Service was also fantastic. We had the Jalisco express margaritas, the tacos de birria and our favorite, the quesadillas de huitlacoche. So good!
My friends and I visited Cocina De Barrio during the week during the morning hours and we definitely has a great experience. Our server was fantastic and the food was excellent! I definitely recommend this place because of its food and unique drinks. More
Amazingly delicious and beautiful food! Cocktails are creative and stunning. Service is great!! I would give it 5 stars but the smell of the cleaning products were overbearing and the dining room is very loud due to acoustics. I’ve eaten on
My first experience with this restaurant was for dinner at the Hillcrest location, I realized I wasn't very impressed for some reason but really glad that I gave them a try again this time in Point Loma for brunch. LOVED their selection and
I've been to the original location in Hillcrest twice, and had a great experience both times. Thus, I was eager to check out this new location in Point Loma, but left feeling so disappointed. I ordered the chorizo hash, and it was terrible.
This is a fabulous Oaxaca style Mexican restaurant, with excellent brunch. Service is very friendly. I got a huge takeout order one time for a dinner party at home and they were very helpful. A great addition to San Diego's food scene! More
Delicious! My party of 4 shared the French toast and churros plate and absolutely loved it. It was sweet buttery goodness with caramel ice cream on top. As my main entree I got chorizo hash which I recommend for savory lovers out there. My
Can’t rave enough about Cocina de Barrio — my new favorite Mexican restaurant! We went for my birthday and were blown away. They have great options for plant based and meat eaters, the presentation is stunning (and I’ve got high standards)
I came here to celebrate. Wait time was shorter than expected. The food and the drinks came out in a timely manner and the waiter was very attentive. Everything tasted delicious and all the extras we ordered came with the food. Also I love
We started with having 30 minute wait time and that ended up being an hour and 20 minutes because the kitchen was backed up. The food was worth the wait because it was so delicious and fresh tasting. The Churro French toast tasted so good
This is a high-end gourmet Oaxacan restaurant. They have flights of Mezcal and Tequila to sample and fancy specialty drinks. I tried a Mezcal pineapple drink and a Pomegranate Popsicle Margarita. Both were delicious! Dinner was wonderful.
This place is a must for a good Mexican brunch! Our table ordered the green cilaquiles, chorizo hash, and the enmoladas. All of these dishes were loaded with flavor. Absolutely delicious! For drinks: The Cafe de Olla was great, along with
The menu at first glance seems a bit daunting. Michelle (our server) was amazing, she explained the menu, AND she not only checked menu items regarding various food allergies (with a huge smile in her voice and banter) when she placed out
Amazing brunch at Cocina De Barrio! The food was delicious, we had the churro French toast, robalo al ajillo sea bass fillet, with a side of eggs. The rest of the menu had some interesting choices we will have to try next time. We sat on
I like the food, but I’ve never had a pleasant dining experience here. The reggaeton music is always blaring too loud and today an employee was sitting right behind me, first blasting her phone with some kind of demonic noise that never
My bf and I decided to come try this breakfast spot and we weren't disappointed. Our waiter Alberto was very kind and attentive, he made sure we weren't missing anything! He provided exceptional service and made us feel welcomed.
Awesome mexican fare, hidden from the mainstream or more well known areas. Happy hour menu was delicious. Sat at the bar between shifts so service was okay, but coming back regardless. Excited to try the salmon mole! More
Couldn't eat here because of my peanut allergy. The waitress said that the food could be cross contaminated. Also, they served brunch during weekdays. Not really Mexican food. I was expecting something more. …
Great spin on food! From the arroz con leche pancakes to the coconut paleta drink. Staff was very attentive, just be prepared to wait 30+mins, if not picky ask to sit outside. Interior has a great vive though
The food was good and the servers were attentive and helpful. But, the atmosphere wasn’t the most enticing. The vibe at the Hillcrest one is much better, but they may be working out kinks at this one.
We were not very impressed with this place. On the bright side the place looks nice and some flavors are on point. On the dark side, it is pretty noisy, service was slow, way overpriced and my
The staff was so friendly, and I loved the atmosphere! The food was good, and our favorite was the churro french toast! Overall, a lovely experience, but just a bit overpriced/overhyped.
Delicious food and their alcoholic drinks look good too. We were here for lunch and had a meeting to attend after so we'll have to come back for their drinks another time.
We went on Sunday afternoon and were surprised to find out they only had the brunch menu available. Our waiter informed us they're the only location that does this.
I had La Paloma & it was a beautifully crafted cocktail. Fantastic menu - lots of taco options & great Happy Hour deals- however no small plates to share. More
Great food and great service. The Arroz con leche pancakes were amazing. The pork ribs in green salsa with hand made corn tortillas were.com
Awesome place, food tasted really good, nice plating, great service and prices are decent !!! We recommend that place! My son loved his burger!! More
Lunch was really good! Great service, too. I tried the 3 chicken quesadillas, and it was excellent. Most items are brunch/eggs until 3pm. More
First visit to this place. It was awesome. We had a group of 12 including kids and we all enjoyed the food and drinks. Will be back. More
Great food and cocktails. I was kinda surprised they didn't know what a Mezcalita was. C'mon people, get it together.
Very good food. Too early to drink beer but the ladies said they have very good Mimosas and Margaritas. More
First visit! Our server Anthony was excellent! The chilaquiles Verde and white sangria were amaaaazing! More
This place is the real deal. So far, I’ve only been for brunch, so I’m reviewing that menu.
