Foodie beware. I decided to check out this new spot. I arrived around 11:45ish 8/31/19 and I believe they open around 11 on Saturday. I should have followed my first instinct when I saw the appearance of the food on the line. The brown sauce chicken looked like it was left over from the night before. I asked the server about the The Mac n Cheese because it definitely looked like it was left over from the night before. All that was left in this large pan was maybe four serving. You can tell it had been sitting because the crumbs were burnt. You know the look when you reheat left over Mac n Cheese from Sunday's dinner. So when I asked the young lady if it was fresh-she said they served it that morning at 8. Remember they dont open til around 11 on Saturdays. While waiting on my food a couple came in and made a comment about this same Mac n Cheese I just questioned. earler. The woman comments were that Mac n Cheese looks like crumbled birthday cake. The man added they shouldn't be serving that. I laughed and they contnued talking about how the other sides didn't look fresh. My second warning. I paid for my food and thinking to myself I hope and pray this food ok. I got home tried my green beans and they tasted sour. I can't even describe the taste or the texture of the plantains. I didn't want to try anything else because I was afraid I may get food poisoning. So I called the and explained my experience and the first young lady said didn't give refunds. I replied there's nothing posted that you don't give refunds. She passed me on to someone else. I repeated my story she told me to hold on and to come and talk to the owner. She told me to hold on.. I waited and waited; finally the phone disconnected. I call back and go the owner. Explained the situation to her she got smart, never apologized or even asked it I would like something else. She stated they dont give refunds and went on about how she hot up at 4am to start cooking. But from the looks of everything on that line clearly those were leftovers from last night. You could tell from the aluminum foil that was covering the vegetables You know how your cuzin nem do when they get mad .....yeap Coco hung up on me. And you wonder why folks dont support black owned businesses. Coco I hope you read your reviews because I will be called the Health Inspector on Tuesday. Hope you dont show up on the news along with those other nasty restaurants. Eaters Beware .

I'm from Albany/Brooklyn NY originally, and have an excellent gauge as to what I should expect. The fried plaintains, curry goat flavor, and brown stew chicken are good but mild on savory level(goat is skimpy, fatty, and bony as usual. Jerk chicken is delicious grilled chicken. It is nowhere close to authentic jerk chicken and has almost no heat/spice level on top of that... So if you want tasty chargrilled Jamaican spice accented chicken, go for it. But it's dry and not Jerk chicken. The ribs tender, and great, but got baby Ray's when I ordered NC sauce. Anyway ribs aren't an island item so it doesn't apply. The beef patty was one of the most delicious patties I've ever had... Perfect spicyness level, no grizzle. Some may complain not enough beef but it was filled with deliciousness, I'll take that over Walmart grizzle. I have no complaints here on the amazing beef patty.

I feel bad for them because this business will not last without some serious help!! I stopped here spent $30 for tough and under seasoned oxtail, under seasoned curry chicken, chrunchy rice, cocoa bread that tasted like a regular piece of white bread and bland cabbage. The yams though somewhat mashed were seasoned great, but that was the only good thing on my plate. They dont offer white rice for those who dont do rice & peas and they dont have corn bread. I stayed away from the mac & cheese because it looked dried out. I try to visit black locally owned whenever I can but folks we have to do better becaise this was definitely NOT GOOD!!! I will be sticking to my normal spot down the road for my aithentic Jamaican cuisine from here on out.

If you are hungry and looking for some good food DO NOT GO HERE!! It’s called Cocoa Oxtail and JAMERICAN(J-AMERICAN)food for a reason; it’s not authentic jamacian food. My rice was crunchy and my oxtails were not tender at all. I called and spoke with the manager Cocoa and her first response was “when I looked at the oxtails some were falling off the bone and no one else complained about the rice.” She wanted to argue instead of giving good customer service. Then she had the nerve to say “you can come get another plate but we can’t give you your money back.” WHY IN THE HELL WOULD I DO THAT IF MY FIRST PLATE WAS TERRIBLE. I wasted $15.00. Maybe they should only serve free food to the Senior Citizens place they are connected to.

The FLAVORS in the foods will make your taste buds explode! I will definitely be back for the all can eat jerk chicken. This place really stands out compared to the other Caribbean places I've been to. I got the brown stew chicken it came with red bean rice and curry vegetables and I got the jerk ribs which came with curry vegetables and red bean rice I also got a small side of Mac and cheese and plantains. I had to try their hot jerk sauce with my ribs, it as some kick to it but it's not an overbearing hotness.

Stopped because I seen a grill smoking off Beatties Ford. Saw 1boy and 1 teen on the grill. I hesitated. I said I’ll try it out. Went in and the people were nice greeted me and all. Mac n Cheese was just ok, cabbage was not tasty and Jerk chicken was burned and seemed a bit old on the edges. She traded the chicken for me bc I requested a fresh off the grill set of chicken this time. New chicken was not as burned but not tasty at all. Rice was dry. I want to support our own but this ain’t it.

I would not waste my time at this place, although there were guys clearly cooking on the grill outside which is what initially drew me in, once I ordered and paid for the food and got home it's almost as if most of it was microwaved because it was cold and definitely the oxtails were tough the plantains had been reheated and the Jamaican patties were mush, so many other great places nearby to go to, I would not go here and waste my money

The food is exploding with flavor. Not overpowering at all. The lunch special was perfect for my 'Hide in the car meals'. Just look at the menu.....they are the real deal!!! The family is from Brooklyn and they have some of the best hospitality! Oh, the location is the former Broderick's BBQ spot. Which is very convenient to the interstate! Ya'll better get Ya'll self some good hot food! I'm definitely going back!

Please believe all of the negative reviews, they’re all facts!! The only good thing about this place is the people, the women serving the food was so nice! But just do the city of Charlotte a favor by throwing out all the food out and shutting down! There are actual GOOD Caribbean restaurants already here.

For $16.50 I expected to get more than 2 very small ox tails. They were more like the very tip of the tail. The majority of the meat was neckbones and it was very little considering the overpriced rip off I recieved. I will not be ordering thr ox tails again. However the Jerk Chicken was great.

  • phatnjuicey alldatime

Went there for the 1st and last time... the line workers are unaware of what prices are.. We spent $32..on dry ribs..they don't give enough for the prices.. I guess Sunday is the best day Buffet$19.99 so you can taste and throw away what you don't like...wow...

  • Phillip Gottlieb

The best thing they have to offer is the Beef Patties, other than that... this place would be great for an episode of Kitchen Nightmare with Gordon Ramsey...the outside needs a paint job and the inside needs Jesus, the miracle worker and the carpenter

  • EO VILLAGOMEZ

Good portion for xtra money The rice was hard from day before and rewarmed and the gentleman in there walked in and out lookin@ you all mad, nothing jamaican about this food it is barely a southern style burned down chicken

  • Ron G

I did not enjoy this food at all! I don't know if it was the seasoning, but the cabbage was over cooked, the oxtails were bland. I will not go back. Plus it's overly price. The staff was very nice,

  • Kandi Raiin

Oxtails were amazing but the rice wasn't even cooked properly it was very hard and unable to chew... Their services are quite a wait but overall they are nice people trying to make a living.

  • Debora White

This place is closed. However, 2hen this restaurant was open the food was ok. They left the food out until it was to hard and dry. Restaurant had a horrible odor...plus not that clean.

  • Margaret Brunston

Food was delicious very friendly service;but was not given full vegetable servings.Restaurant was too hot to sit down inside. Serving area was narrow.Grill outside.

  • Chris Ervin
