"No regard for allergens at this restaurant"
"This place is awful - asked for eggs to be cooked because they were snotty rather than of course no problem I got they are cooked there's no way to cook them more -really ? - took them back into the kitchen put them in a pan for 2 seconds then reserved and still snotty then took my pot of tea away half full trying to refill it for extra cost food freezing and looked like they'd been served twice "
"Although this is a lovely place to sit in the Spires courtyard, roomy and welcoming inside the cafe too, its food is not the best quality, and the owner is a bit grumpy"
"Food and atmosphere was lovely"
My husband and I looked at the specials menu and ordered the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. We were looking forward to getting something to warm us up as the day had turned chilly out. When the dish arrived it was not what we were expecting. The eggs that were on top of the salmon were undercooked and the whites were still in liquid form, we sent them back to be cooked until the whites didn't move around but not hard boiled. When the dish came back I asked where the hollandaise sauce was and the waitress said it was in the tiny pot on the plate. I looked into the pot and there was about a teaspoon of thick gloopy stuff with a yellow tint, I smelled the contents of the pot and it smelled like lemon mayonnaise and it was stone cold and I took my finger and dipped it into the pot and tasted it. It wasn't a nice flavour and I thought it might be off. I told the waitress this and said that the hollandaise should be hot and poured over the eggs. There wasn't enough sauce to cover one egg if it had been warmed, much less the two we were served. The manager/owner came to the table with a jar of 'velvety hollandaise sauce' from Waitrose and showed it to us and asked if we wanted the pots of sauce we'd returned back and we declined his offer and he proceeded to tell us he sells hundreds of these every week and didn't try to find out why we were unhappy with the dish or apologise for our dissatisfaction. He then went back to the counter and proceeded to empty the pots back into the jar, which is a hygiene issue on its own as I had stuck my finger in mine. It was clear to us that the cook didn't understand what Eggs Benedict were and it probably would have been cheaper to make their own sauce. If you are looking for Real Eggs Benedict do not order it from the Coffee Bean, it will leave you with a nasty taste in your mouth and it was expensive for what we were served. Our experience was not a good one and will avoid them in the future.
No regard for allergens at this restaurant. Says on the sign vegan and vegetarian options ALWAYS available but cannot provide a jacket potato without coleslaw. Asked them to put the coleslaw in a pot on the side for my friend to have instead and it came on the same plate. Returned it to the waiters and was told that I hadn’t specified that I would’ve liked it on another plate. I reiterated to them my dairy and egg allergy and asked if I could have the same plate just no coleslaw. They returned the plate with no coleslaw but had smothered the salad in a mayo dressing. Completely unacceptable.

Although this is a lovely place to sit in the Spires courtyard, roomy and welcoming inside the cafe too, its food is not the best quality, and the owner is a bit grumpy. One of the family/owner's partners who works there pretends to be friendly when in actuality discriminating against and disrespecting the rights and privacy of people with protected characteristics such as gender and invisible disability. But essential place to sit and enjoy the summer weather especially - they used to play music outside too but have stopped - as long as one keeps one's boundaries with the impolite staff.

Food and atmosphere was lovely. The owner was a lovely gentleman. The waitress who takes the orders and brings the food to the table has Absaloutely no customer service skills. Not once did she smile, say thank you for ordering/ taking payment and it seemed bringing the food to the table was an effort. Hygiene needs to improve as the waitress on 3 occasions would take the previous customers tray away and not wipe the table before placing my food down.

The coffee bean is consistently excellent quality with friendly and efficient service. In my view they do the best tasting coffee of any I’ve tasted. There are tables outdoors and in. They do a lovely all-day breakfast and have lots of variety on their menu. The cafe always has a good number of clientele. They do salt beef for those interested. Nice light jazz music in background. A great spot for breakfast , lunch or a naught pastry or cake. Has become well-established in the community.
This local coffee bar serves the best breakfast in Barnet for a very reasonable price and the coffee is good as well. The outside seating area is well suited for the summer and, has large umbrellas to sit under with comfy lounge seats, as well. There are freshly made salads too which are full of produce and not just large amounts of lettuce as in many other places. Staff are friendly and the tables are kept very clean. They also provide a variety of free newspapers. Highly recommended !
A hidden gem. May not look like anything fantastic on the outside, but you’re in for a treat. It’s Family run and in a beautiful spot in the Spires shopping centre. The outside seating in the courtyard is a delight in the summer! If you’re lucky there will be a busker playing music outside. Coffee is delicious. Food portions are very generous. The food is wholesome and home made. My favourites are their salt beef baguettes and jacket pots (made in a proper jacket oven)!
This is one of the best places in Barnet for a coffee and a sandwich. The owners are friendly and it always has a nice atmosphere - often tough to get a seat though due to its popularity. It will be a travesty if the Spires stop the outdoor seating as during the summer months it is one of the few places in Barnet to have a coffee outside. (Although at the rate we are losing shops in there, this will be the only place left).
Best cappuccino for miles around and exquisite pasteis de nata. I'm not usually a fan of custard tarts but theirs was sublime!

Not so great I'm afraid - likely cross contamination with prawns made my son very sick (he had ordered a chicken & bacon panini)
Very unimpressed. The food is cheap but that's about it. We got one veggie breakfast and one full English. The hash brown was soggy and tasted old. Most of the food was lukewarm or cold, the bacon isn't really bacon it's just ham, the sausages tasted off and their orange juice was bitter. The toast, eggs and beans were fine to eat. The coffee was ok.
Food is okay, but some of the staff members are simply rude. Maybe it’s because the clientele is mostly older people and we were just a few college kids, but the dirty looks I received and the laughs a few employees were exchanging while looking at me and pointing at my outfit just made me very uncomfortable. This is a lovely cafe in the Spires shopping centre in Barnet . they have an extensive outside seating area which is lovely in the summertime They have a wide range of food including a delicious Big Breakfast which is nice at the weekend The coffee here is also very nice I would highly recommend this cafe
Great tasting (though very filling) food. I went there for lunch and had the carbonara, but many people were still having a brunch when I arrived. Offer a fairly flexible menu.

A very disappointing eggs Royale , not even poached. Smoked salmon very salty and poor quality. If you come here stick to the jacket potatoes., and make sure you have cash on you as they don't take cards or cheques which is very strange for the 21st century !!! I won't be going back again.
Food was not seasoned and tasted very bland, toast was soggy from beans poured all over it, no salt no pepper offered with the bland food ! And was also given a bottled drink that I was drinking throughout the day and then found out it was out of date !!! Unhappy first time customer.
Ordered breakfast and got 1 & half cheep sausages, the toast was bearly brown and more like bread, asked for fried eggs and they were scammbled, mushrooms were nice. Coffee is good.

Should have read the reviews before entering. Sausage and bacon inedible. Poached egg Rock hard. Beans Rock hard and stone cold.this establishment needs to hire a chef or at least someone who can cook and someone with people skills to serve the food.
Great coffee, food and friendly staff. Covid and enviromently friendly too; No plastic cups here (unless you want it!) Great place in all weathers. Lots of seating in and out with sunshades. Suitable for all ages and needs.
A great atmosphere and super welcoming. Very little waiting time for food to come out. The jacket potato was delicious and generous amount of salad and coleslaw was given too. Will def be going back. Yum!
Counter staff were rude. Ordered a latte and was given warm milk. Barely a fraction of espresso and no froth/foam

Worst breakfast I have had over cooked eggs all food very processed disappointed… especially for price :( first time I didn’t finish my breakfast what happened :s
Brilliant cafe/restaurant with great food and coffee. It is a real home-from-home. Brothers Paul and Kremo run a wonderful establishment. Highly reccomended.
Owner extremely unpleasant because I had the temerity to briefly sit down on one of the chairs outside his coffee shop. Will never buy from here again.
Seems to be the social centre of Barnet. Nice snacks, super cakes, great coffee! Service with a smile at sensible prices. Been twice and I'm a regular!
Lovely bistro, delicious home made comfort food. Family run business, personal touch, friendliness and courtesy all add to the charm of the experience
Food not nice and when brought the the attention of the staff they just smiled and took the plate we will not be going in there again and eating.
Its the best social hub in barnet. All staff are friendly, accomadating always give you some time to say hello. Please don't close! ♥️ …
Had a breakfast there and I felt like I am King and having King style breakfast.. loved it.. Might go again from London to just have it again..
Great coffee, and great staff. Definitely a winner, the coffee as I've tried most of the others in the area and i have to recommend this.
Decent cafe to sit outside. Good cafe food. Only takes cash, no receipts, doesn't ring money in the till, mmm I wonder why that is!
It's just okay, a bit pricey for what was two slices of brisket, but it was okay, not up to Brick Lane or BK standards but adequate
Overpriced and below average quality of food. They don't except cards! When is winter your cloths gonna smell after the visit.
Friendly service with a smile. Food was ok but the sausage wasn't the best quality and a little greasy. Nice little place.
Friendly helpful staff and tasty food. We had a cake each and hot drinks. I had spiced apple drink which was really nice
Ordered minestrone but could only taste peppers. Two days later, still tasting them..............latte was good though
Disgusting bacon in roll, social distancing not at all good inside cafe area, queues way too close to people eating
Where else would you get breakfast, brunch or lunch in Barnet? Go early, get your free otange juice. It's worth it.
Great coffee, but the spires car park gave me a ticket for being a few minutes over, so won't be going back.
Family run cafe. Superb service. Great tasty well priced food. Thoroughly recommend the veggie breakfast
Great place for great coffee. Always friendly and love the free OJ served with a coffee in the morning.
Lovely staff and the food is great and it is nice to have staff bring your food to your table for you
Visited as I was in the area. Lovely local cooked food. Will visit again. Recommended. Thanks.
English breakfast without bacon?! Also, very low quality sausage. Definitely not recommended.
Lovely cake lovely coffee nice touch with the orange juice to accompany your cake and coffee
I love this place. The food is good, freshly cooked from order. Good choice. Lovely service.

Lovely place to enjoy a tea or coffee. Eat if you like and just relax for a bit.
Great food great prices been going their for years so convient and healthy food
Very disappointing. Food was subpar and couldn't even make a decent cappuccino
Excellent service and food lovely staff very caring. Pastry /coffee very nice.
Friendly. Food reasonable. But they do not have nice bread. That's my opinion
Lovely food, lovely drink, so good to be in the middle of the shopping centre
Great paninis using proper breads. Interesting salads and great coffee.
Good coffee but rather amazed that they did not accept cards. Really?
Food is good as is the price but be warned it is a very noisy place
Food is overrated and overpriced, they do not accept card payment.
Polite helpful staff. Delicious salt beef sandwiches and coffee.
Really nice duck and plum sauce sandwich. Sandwiches are 4-5£.
Really great café, nice food and drink. Service is very good!
Had a very nice latte at a fair price with good service.
Lovely selection of food nicely served and good service
