Well let me tell you all, every visit to the Egyptian Consulate in Melbourne was a breathe. It was like visiting our beloved Egypt, wonderful smiles and down to earth people and a very warm welcome to visitors. My name is Mohamed Samy and I needed to renew my passport and my wife and I made the enquiry over the phone and got all the exact requirements then made a booking online and off we went. On arrival, all precautionary measures against COVID-19 were taken by the consulate employees. Mr Ameen the first person to welcome us was so polite and very Friendly. You could even see his smiles behind his face mask. Then we met our Consulate General, Mr Khaled, what a wonderful example of a very understanding and helpful Egyptian Official. He makes you proud to be Egyptians. We put the application with a great help from Mr Khaled and we were told that when the passport is ready, we will be notified. Frankly, and considering the travel limitations for Embassy officials due to COVID-19, we expected a long wait to receive the passport. To our surprise, only after few weeks we got a phone call to inform us that the passport arrived. We went to the Consulate to get the passport and I needed an additional service and we were just looking forward to see the consulate employees and to feel home again. We were lucky to see Mr Ameen welcoming us again then we saw Mr Khaled who gave me his professional advice and facilitated everything for us on the spot. In summary, we are very grateful to The Egyptian Consulate Mr Khaled for all his help and to the consulate employees particularly Mr Ameen for making us feel at home. Oh how much we miss our beloved country Egypt.

The worst service ever. I wish google had negative stars. If you are going there please be ready to make a few trips until they finally process your request. The VISA lady is never at her counter and you have to always wait, and even when she comes she in a rush to go back. I think that’s why she never gave me full information as she was always in a rush to go back inside. After 4 rounds to the embassy finally today I got my Passport with the Egyptian Tourist VISA and as cherry on top for their “exceptional customer service” was, they had stuck a paper on the front of my passport with glue which won’t go off now. When I suggest her that you shouldn’t be doing this instead use the back side of the passport like rest of embassies do, she got passive aggressive and gave me a look. This doesn’t look very good on the country. It’s a shame that one person can spoil the image of a country. One should specially be careful when dealing with foreign nationals as they boost your economy by tourism. It’s just unimaginable that a person at embassy would behave like this, first of she stuffs up my application and then when I suggest her the right way to do things(which is common sense actually) she shows attitude. Hope the embassy employees more capable, customer friendly people and give basic training to the people working there. Please get rid of the VISA lady, she is taking the name of the country down the drain with herself. I hope you read this VISA lady and build some work ethics.

The only reason I am giving it a 3 star rather than 1, is Sue. She provides excellent customer service and she also stayed back after her usual office hour only to complete the stamping of tourist visa on our passports as our travel date was approaching soon. She made sure that we will get our passports back before our travel date and I can't thank her enough for that. If I could provide an individual rating, I would definitely give her a 5 star. Apart from this, the overall communication of the embassy is the worst I experienced ever. No reply to emails, no answer to calls, and even by mistake if they receive call sometime, their attitude is very rude and unprofessional. Never got any satisfactory answer of any of my queries from them. I am a frequent traveller and often I get in touch with different foreign embassies. Egyptian embassy in Melbourne was the worst of them all. They should seriously think about changing their employees or train them properly. Note: if you are going to apply for visa, be sure to do it well advance.

Worst possible service one can ever provide. I am behind Egypt consulate of Melbourne last 5 weeks for getting pre-approval for my tourist Visa. For embassy visa we need to get pre approval to apply for visa and it will take at max 8 weeks. I have applied for pre approval and was behind consulate to get to know about decision on pre approval and I get to know that they haven’t even submitted the application even after 4 weeks after I applied for it and asked me to fill fresh pre approval document and submit it. They wasted my 4 weeks for nothing and they won’t even check the emails that we are sending. If we call up for asking for any update they will ask us to send email which they will never check. I recommend people to go to Sydney consulate than Melbourne, heard that they are providing better service than Melbourne. It’s unfortunate for me to take service from Egypt consulate of Melbourne.

The most useless people to exist in any business setting. They do anything to deny you access to them and there is no official or clear guidlines on what a person needs to do to have anything done. They have fragile ego's that prohibit you from holding them accountable for their lack of service. You have to tip toe around them so they don't get offended when you ask them to do anything. They conduct themselves like they do in Egypt which is lazy, u reachable and dismissive. You can only pay them in cash or money order which is strange. They don't care about what you need done even if it's urgent. They just hide behine a locked office that the public cant enter and a phone number they never answer. They cancel any appointments made legitimately and they intentionally do not help you if you question them even when they are clearly wrong.

The lady who answers the phone is very rude she hang up the phone, I wanted to get a visa to Egypt and the travel time is after 1 week they want to give me an appointment for the visa one week after my travel. It is a joke. The website says that they are open Saturday and Sunday, I called for 25 minutes on Saturday and the person who picked up the phone said we are closed today. Very funny I said to him the website saying that you are open and he said no we close Saturday and Sunday. The time table for opening and closing is not matching the reality. Egyptian consulate should help and welcome the people for visiting Egypt and finish their visas quickly not make it very complicated by saying we don't have free appointments for the next 2 or three weeks for a tourism visa.

Absolutely horrible place.Extremly slow and beaurocratic and an office culture that lacks problem solving skills.I wasnt able to apply for a renewed passport because my old passport has expired 2 years ago unless they ask the head office in egypt for approval. The approval itself was promised to take multiple months to happen.Their reasoning was that I could have renounced my citizenship ?.I fail to see say the logic behind that as they could have let me fill the application and sent to Egypt and do whatever checks they need there rather than add an additional step taking months.I am not going to even suggest that they should have remote access to such information from their offices or can inquire by email. The office is litterally living in 1900s.

Worse office to ever exist in Melbourne, not only they’re customers service is slow they’re also a whole bunch of scammers that trying bringing their habits to Australia, they refuse to accept our documents claiming it wasn’t certified when it was certified by multiple police officers . They made my sister travel from a whole different state 3 times and still failed to approve her documents their excuses was rubbish! What kind of embassy only receives cash and provides no receipts. They also refused to give her money back a whole bunch of scammers wait for the government to see how your working. I only put the one star cause i had to otherwise I wouldn’t put nothing for your filthy office

  • Mostafa

One star is way too generous for them. My recent dealings with the consulate have been nothing short of infuriating. I've been calling them incessantly throughout the week, only to be met with empty promises of a callback that never materializes. To make matters worse, when I asked to speak to someone after being repeatedly let down, they callously hung up on me during subsequent calls. This level of unprofessionalism and sheer disregard for those seeking assistance is utterly inexcusable. The consulate's appalling behavior demonstrates a blatant lack of commitment to helping people in need. It's high time they pull themselves together and start providing the service they're meant to.

  • Mohamed S. Mitwalli

Very decent people. Dealt with them twice, and always found them welcoming, warm, and caring. The only problem is that they only deal with cash or AU Post payment notes so be ready. Also their current way (due to Covid I think) of letting people into the consulate isn't really very efficient. You have to give them a call when arrive to the ground floor and someone will come down to take you up.. Sometimes they would be busy and not answer the call, so you would be left wondering what to do.. So you need to call multiple times.

Very very bad service! They worked very slow. They even take mobiles when inside their premises. For what? Very very disgusting! Doesn’t care if you pay too much in the parking because of their inability to act fast, it resulted to paying too much money. They give u time when to come and when u come, your documents still not ready for collection and you need to wait again or tell u come back another day. People there don’t want to work just like take money and in cash, don’t even have eftos to pay by card.

I have been calling your office so many times and no one answers How poor you are there

No Card, no change. You gotta bring your own change. No clear info on anything. You can't know it clearly through phone calls, the website or by going anyway. If you want to judge how much they care about their visitors, check their official website, please. It is very embarrassing. No wonder why Egyptians feel anxious when they remember that they have to get something done at the consulate/embassy. I wouldn't blame the consulate/embassy. I would blame the system that regulates them.

  • Dina Henin

They never answer the phone and when they do they hang up without even say hello. You go there they will not even let you in the level. I need to renew my Egyptian ID and passport. And they asking me still for a valid Egyptian ID otherways they keep cancelling my appointments. My dad is dying and i can't even go see him because of this embassy DO NOT EXIST. I don't know what to do anymore! But i am sure my family will take it ferthere from egypt.

  • Mariam Boktor

Not professional at all with no mercy for elderly people. They sent my father who is 80 years old away and asked him to come another day to get his passport while it is them who said he can go any day after 2 pm and even after he told them that he is on dialysis most days!!!! Useless useless useless.

  • Naveen Perera

One of the worst consulate office in Melbourne. No customer service at all. There is a lady that doesn't know anything. Once you call and ask abt the visa status she said come to the office and check abt it. But I felt later that its a normal and typical Egyptian behaviour once I visited Egypt.

  • marina magdy

If there was no stars I would have used that. You call them 10 times and once the miracle happens and they pick up the phone they answer you as if You have called them in their lunchbreak. They know nothing except for you sending the prepaid envelope so that they dont pay 1 dollar extra !!

  • R Nasralla

Terrible experience. Need serious improvement. Website appointments don't work, phone doesn't work, and no email confirmation. And when they answered, the response was as bad. I got my paper work sorted in Egypt much much faster than the consulate that is 7km away from me.

  • Ahmed M. Ibrahim

I’m impressed with the quality of the service today. I wanted a “Power of Attorney”, I emailed the details to them, booked an appointment online and arrived to find out that everything is ready for me to sign. You deserve 6 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

1 STAR IS TOO MUCH FOR YOU. YOU ARE A BUNCH OF THIEVES, AND THAT'S BEING POLITE! I PAID FOR RENEWEL OF MY ID 1 YEAR AGO. MANY PHONE CALLS, NEVER EVER HEARD BACK FROM YOU. YOU ARE THE WORST OF MANKIND. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE POLITE WITH YOU

  • Jennie Chainey

I had a great experience with lovely staff who gave accurate advice on visa processes. I couldn't get through on the phone so sent an email, and received a call back on the same day. Excellent customer service!

  • Rafik Zaky

Hate dealing with those people. Reminded me why I left my home country in the first place. Ripping you off with over charging $300 for a passport renewal that took 6 months and no tax invoice what so ever.
