Follow these rules for Tourist Visa and you will be fine. 1. Eligibility - You should seek a Greece visa only if you plan to spend most time in Greece. Your first destination can be other countries but they specifically evaluate the time you spend in Greece 2. Appointment - you will need to call between 2-330pm in order to reach the office. Any other time your call may not be picked up 3. Application Form - You can write with pen or print - that is upto you. They don't care 4. Single v/s multiple visa - You will need to show multiple itineraries to be eligible for multiple visa. If you show only one visit to Greece they will not give you multiple entry visa 5. Flight - This is the most important. If your first destination is another country, you will need to show flight between that country and Greece 6. Hotel - They will ask for hotel or AirBnB itinerary just to know where you plan on going 7. Medical insurance - you will need to show proof that insurance will cover you in europe. I usually buy $10 insurance from Insubuy website, they give you a letter as well. 8. Appointment day - plan for 2 -3 hours in the consulate depending on rush 9. Visa - I received my visa in one week Consulate is very helpful and they try as much to get your visa thoroughly smoothly. That's just my experience, hope it helps you
Hello, I am trying to receive some sort of a response from your office to several emails and phone messages that have been left over the last month. I am attempting to wrap up a 10 year on going dual citizenship application for myself and 3 of our 4 children. I am a first generation daughter to my father from Ikaria Greece. I flew down to San Fransisco in October and presented my fathers naturalization papers, in addition to numerous other forms, stamps, seals, notaries etc.etc over the years. I am having a difficult time with follow through from the Consulate's office. I feel as though I have been more than patient. Please advise and thank you for your time in advance. Best, Carlene "Irini" Karimalis-Kitchin 11.16.2020 Hello, I have now reached out to even Washington DC Greek Embassy thinking for sure they will reach out on my behalf to SF..........No. Fax - No, Emails - No, Return call - No. This is an unmanned office it's a farce, it's a front, it's a fake, it's people not doing there jobs! Absolutely no follow up or accountability on anyone in this office. Carlene "Irini" Karimalis-Kitchin Ikaria, Greece - First generation
Getting Schengen visa is a herculean task especially if you live in a city where there is no consulate. I am from Seattle and we had to goto SFO to get Schengen visa. The slot booking process was honestly very hard as no one would answer the call or email and I was unable to get an appointment. But finally once I wrote a detailed email they called me and set an appointment. On the day of VISA interview we were there sharp at 10 am. The officer Mr. victor let us in at 10:30 am and helped us through the process. He was very kind, thoughtful and asked us if we want single entry for 6 months or multiple entries for 6 months. We said Ofcourse 6 months would be nice! He said, “ if you are going for first time I will give you visa for 6 months.” The process was super smooth and easy and he even made a special concession and promised he would give us our passport very next day as we had to go back to Seattle. Today as I came back from Portugal and reminisce my other awesome trips to Greece and Italy in Sep, my heart is full and so grateful to Mr. victor.
I had some problems getting together all of the necessary materials for my student visa, and I contacted the consulate about a week prior to my visa appointment. They were super understanding and told me to come in Monday- Thursday once I got what I needed and they would help me. I only give three stars because fast forward to today, I drive 3.5 hours to San Francisco and they’re closed for a Greek holiday and did not mention that when we spoke. I would’ve called before hand, but they do not answer the phones much. It was discouraging, since I’m supposed to leave in about three weeks! It happens though, I am going back first thing on Tuesday and hopefully my visa process is no longer so painful and I can update my review to five stars, especially since they were so willing to help me! Edit: everything went smoothly! And they even let me email them a missing document. Should have my visa in time to go! Demetri even gave me some advice about living in Athens and the neighborhood where my school will be.
My wife needed a travel visa to go the Greece, but the wait was so long we had to cancel out trip. They say to send an e-mail or call to set up an appointment, but they don't answer e-mails, and no one answers the phone. After a few weeks, I went to the consulate to set up an appointment. They said the earliest appointment was two and a half months out, which was the day after we were supposed to return home. In the past 10 years, my wife has had five Schengen visas, two from France, one each from Norway, Italy and Spain. She never had to wait more than a week or so to get an appointment. She also got a visa from Britain is less than a week, even with having to send the application to New York. One would think that Greeks would find a way to get more people to visit their country instead of understaffing their consulates. They could even use an outside service like Norway does. It's no wonder Greece has turned into a third world country.
In late May of 2021, My family and I were scheduled to travel to Greece and visit my family and friends. Unfortunately, on the day of departure I was informed that there was an issue with my passport and I was unable to travel with my family. This was on the Memorial Day Weekend. From the international terminal at SFO, I immediately contacted the Greek Embassy in San Francisco, who responded immediately and issued special dispensation to enter Greece, within two hours. I was on a flight to reunite with my family the next day, and was able to visit the US Embassy in Athens and get an Emergency passport to continue my travels. I cannot begin to describe how stressful the situation was, and the speed and responsiveness of the Consul was quite remarkable. Thank you.
After reaching over phone couple of times, I lost hope for an appointment as they are full. But when I told the visa officer my situation he gladly accepted to book an appointment in a week time frame. After reaching the consulate I still did not have hopes but to my surprise the Visa officer Dmitry is super friendly. I missed some documents and he politely asked me to email them and took print out from emails. He did not even charge single penny for print outs. He also gave some tips for the travel and helper in every way possible to get me Visa. If you have right docs you get your visa
I am applying for a "National Visa" which will allow me to stay in Greece for a year. I went in to the Consulate with what I thought was complete paperwork, but I was missing a few documents. Instead of just being official and sending me on my way, one of the Consulate team members (Dimitri) sat down with me and carefully explained what I needed to provide to assure a visa approval. He was friendly and warm and patient. It is people like Dimitri who are the reason I want to live in Greece. If you have business with the consulate, I am sure you will be treated well! Epharisto!
It’s true that it was really difficult to get an appointment, but when I emailed them in May they did respond to my email on the same day at night (I was surprised they were still checking emails at night so I guess they are really working hard). At the time of appointment, the guy who helped me with my application was so nice and polite. He asked me how to pronounce my name and was calling me by my name the whole time. He even thanked me for my patience for the whole process at the end. It was a really pleasant experience!
The staff are really friendly and helpful! We were late for 30 mins due to unexpected traffic, but they kindly took us and let us relax. It IS challenging to get an appointment. We called but never got it through. We emailed several times but got spotty replies. Eventually we drove to SF and knocked on the door, and were told to email them to be put on the waiting list. They did call us one day and provided an available spot!! So all in all, once you get an appointment, it will be smooth.
There are no appointment available even 3 months in advance for Schengen visa. How is someone supposed to plan a trip 3/4 months in advance. I called the consulate and asked if I could get an appointment, I was told to call closer to the date of travel and they would accommodate something. But when I called back it was still very uncertain. How is someone supposed to book tickets and hotels and just wait till someone gives you an appointment. This is so disappointing!!
Don't waste your time calling them to make an appointment. Either go there in person to make an appointment or take all the papers with you to make an appointment or may be get lucky and submit the application right away. Mr. DIMITRI is the guy to contact there and he tries his best to help you as much as possible. Also, I would suggest you to make an appointment atleast a month before you trip to avoid any delays in your visa processing.
I have been trying to talk to ANYONE 0. but no one picks up the phone EVER. I am prompted to leave voice mails and send emails to which NO ONE re3poonds. There is also an "emergency" number that no one picks up. As a result I need to take a day off work to go to SF and knock at the door in HOPE that thy will open. I have neve r seen such degraded disgraced place. Shame on you. You are useless
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I've been visiting the Greece Embassy for the past 4 years, and every time, it's been an outstanding experience. Victor, in particular, has been amazing. His assistance has made the visa application process swift and efficient. The environment at the embassy is welcoming, and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend the Greece Embassy for all your visa needs.
Its impossible to get appointment through phone . We visited embassy and requested for appointment . They gave us appointment of month later . Everything was very easy after that. We got visa easily, person at embassy is very helpful and easy to work with . I wish they can build some better system to get appointments
Poor customer service and considering what people need from you, it is a shame. Perhaps you are dealing with the pandemic - let’s assume. In the very least update you voice mail to reflect your difficult situation otherwise we the customer, the tourist, the Greek National in need can only assume the worst.
I have been emailing the embassy several times over the last six weeks, and making calls, with no response. I live 14 hours away, I can’t just drive there to set up an appointment. I’m very frustrated as I need documents translated for my wedding to a Greek citizen before I can travel to Greece.
First time having to get a VISA for any foreign travel. This process was new and a little stressful being the first time but the staff at the Consulate General of Greece in SFO was very helpful and we were in and out with no delays. Very good experience. Thank you all!
Very unorganized and never answering their phones. We had to physically go (travelled 1 hour) to even make an appointment because of this. As said before, it is an old house as well (toilet had very bad plumbing). Did like flyers that were inside.
My husband and I applied for a National Visa and Dimitri was extremely helpful and patiently walked us through the process. It is a very busy office but it was pleasant to visit and the staff is very organized. We are very grateful to Dimitri.
I have left seven voicemails and sent two emails and no response. I was fortunate to get someone to answer once and gave me directions for filing for citizenship. I have three questions to clarify the process but no one has responded. If
Very bad service. Calling them every 15 minutes for 2 week at working hours. Nobody answer . Urgent questions. Looks like they don’t work at all. So not reliable embassy in San Francisco ! No replies on my emails and voice recorders !
Never once have i gotten ahold of someone on the phone in the years i have been calling. To travel to San Francisco with no guarantee of even speaking to reception is unacceptable. Greek work at it's best
This is one of the friendliest consulates that I've been to. I came here for a visa and got one in a timely manner. Highly recommended. Make sure you call well before you travel if it is a high season.
They are very kind, very nice. They help you much. I have never had such a friendly welcome for an interview with any schengen consulates in San Francisco. But it is true, it is hard to reach them.
Had a great experience here when I went to get my visa. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful with my application and was even willing to assist me in printing out documents that I needed.
I’ve been sending emails (as they instructed online) and trying to get a visa appointment for 3 months now. No response. This is the worst visa experience I’ve had with any consulate.
It’s impossible to get anyone on the phone! Been calling for 2 days now every hour! Better luck in DC, NY, and any other consulate than this one. Truly disappointing…
I've called numerous times and sent multiple emails with no response regarding getting back to me about the status of my paperwork. This is unacceptable.
On of the best Consulates I've ever been! Mrs. Sophia was very kind and very understanding! We are very grateful for her service! Thank you very much!!!
They don't pick up phones .They've replied on my email 3 times and now I have to make an appointment To fly there and they are not replying back .
Organized and friendly staff. Mr. Dimitri is a very helpful and kind person. As long as you have all documentation in place he does all to help.
Just came from the Consulate! Very kind and organized staff! They explained me everything clearly and I finished everything in 10 min.
I've been trying to call them to make anappointment to register my baby and get him a passport for 2 months untill now no answer
Email, to get a "please call to book an appointment" Call, to get no response ever. Good luck, to get a visa.
I can't get a hold of anybody. Been trying for 3 years to move forward with my affairs.
Don't bother trying to contact unless you have four months to sit around waiting …
