Holy crow these folks are good! I had brought an older (but a real "workhorse") HP Pavilion laptop to IGS Systems on Danforth Ave. I knew the computer needed a new fan but I wasn't sure what else. IGS provided a truly horrible experience - after 5 weeks in the shop they STILL didn't have it fixed properly when, on Thursday June 17 I decided to go there and demand the laptop back, regardless of its state of repair. They said they had installed a new fan, new heat sink and a new 512GB SSD but that I still needed some other part they couldn't source b/c the laptop was still overheating... I said I didn't care, didn't trust them, and walked out paying nothing. I promptly called CONTEMPORARY COMPUTERS and got EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE from their receptionist/Intake person. I got a ticket #, a brief estimate of potential costs, and potential solutions/costs if the diagnosis was worse than I thought. I brought the laptop in on the same Thursday, had the tech's assessment and full cost by Friday, and picked up the computer the following Wednesday morning: new fan, new heat sink, new 512GB SSD and the laptop is as good as ever, even faster with the new drive. Price was less than I would have paid at IGS and I was in and out in 5 days - not 5 weeks and ongoing! The techs at CC showed me the damaged fan (no, not a new one...) that had been installed by IGS (and noted that IGS failed to install the fan "shroud" - no wonder the laptop still kept overheating!) as well as the slowest/lowest grade SSD they had installed. Cheap, shoddy parts and unskilled labour from IGS; awesome professional service from CC!! I'm happy to have Contemporary Computers in my neighbourhood, and will be going to them in the future!

I needed a new external hard drive and instead of going to Best Buy or Wal-Mart opted to"buy local" and went online to find this local company. Upon further enquiry I learned they had capability of transferring my old floppies to new files... yay, took everything and they quoted $50 to transfer plus the hard drive of $99... a couple of days later I received a call that only two files on two disks work (out of about 15).... I was asked if I still wanted the hard drive or should they just delete the files and forget it? I said no, I would come in to buy the hard drive (thinking to myself it was the least I could do after they tried the disks) when I arrive it seemed there was a bill for $185 (inc tax) for a half hour service plus the hard drive.... I reminded them of the phone call explaining that it seemed to me there would be a token charge at best for the service. No way. Then I explained that I, too, have my own business and sometimes we have to "bit the bullet", in order to keep clients happy and coming back. No way. Then I asked to speak with the technician about any reasons the disks were unreadable... was there anything I could do to correct it (ie cleaning, removing disk etc) and the technician was so condescending I paid and left I was so upset... I was hallway home before I realized I was charged even more than the estimate!

I had a great experience with these kind folks recently, I needed to upgrade a fairly new special needs laptop (I'm legally deaf-blind). I wanted to add an SSD Disk and another 8gb ram, black and white WiFI laser printer, Keys U See Wireless Low Vision Keyboard(It's about $20 more than I can get it for however its easier and faster to acquire from them.), 2.5" external tray for my old 1tb Sata Drive and I don't trust many to do it for me as I usually do this stuff myself. These folks did a great job and for a very reasonable price. I have recommend these folks to some friends who are looking to upgrade a laptop. They didn't mess with any of my special needs settings as well. They did the turnaround really fast that I picked up my system the next day.

Took my computer in after I was having restarting issues. They claimed it was the hard drive causing this. Got new hard drive, installed it myself. Continued to have the same issue, when I brought it back to them they said it was software and they said they ran "tests" on it. After trying to figure it out for weeks, I took it in to another shop and it was the processor that needed replacing. Only go here if you want to be overcharged for parts and labor.

They took my laptop with a broke jack port (charger). Removed ram, wiped the motherboard (*all without my permission*) and then attempted to charge me $125 to undo the damage the caused. I received back the laptop in much worse condition that I gave it, the ram taped to the top of the lid and the computer itself totally unusable. They broke my computer and charged me money for it. Never. Use. Their Services. Incompetent and unprofessional.

They are very professional, curtious, knowledgeable and helpful! I have taken my laptop in twice with them. First time to fix broken screen and second to fix my laptop that wouldn't turn on. They have always been punctual experts that find the issue and fix it immediately. I will continue to go to them every time I have issues with my computer. had a hard drive problem where I couldn't access some pretty important stuff, called them and they made me feel SO much better, came in and they were so kind, they took a look at the drive and fixed it within a couple of hours! I came in the next day to pick it up, they were super friendly and even remembered my name, and they gave me a really reasonable price for the work they did. 6/5 stars!

I dropped my laptop off today and by the time I got home 15 minutes later, I got a call that it was ready for pickup. I knew that there was a problem with the adapter, so I'm sure it wasn't difficult, but I really appreciated the quick service. I honestly didn't think they'd even look at it for a day or 2, so this was a pleasant surprise. New adapter and I'm back online.
