The staff (specifically the manager) has agreed that they made multiple procedural/process errors (or mistakes) with our pet's surgery, yet she refused to answer our concerns and stated that all that occurred “does not require corrective action.” We took our case to AAHA who said that although we received significantly horrible customer service, no medical standards were breached in their defence. The manager, Kellie treated us horribly from the start. She has never met/spoken to us, yet her first email told us to “look for care elsewhere”, not really professional managerial skills in our opinion. After multiple emails, she admitted to multiple errors/mistakes but still showed no empathy (instead implied that we were negligent parents). Her treatment of us to had no regard for our dog, as well as us (the hospital’s clients) who are also a part of a pet’s care. We had the following concerns with the procedure for our dog’s surgery: 1) We got 2 estimates (1 low, 1 high). When my partner dropped off our dog, the receptionists gave a new and highest estimate with "optional" bloodwork, stating the critical nature of this diagnostic test and how it could mean life or death. We felt "ambushed" as likely no pet owner could say no minutes before a surgery. The clinic failed to give us ample time to make an informed decision and coerced our authorization for this treatment. When my partner expressed his concern about being presented with something of critical nature minutes before his surgery, the staff said, "it's no big deal." To which my partner said, "it is a big deal, because if he dies, that's on me for $150." He asked if there was time to consult with myself and staff said, "no, he has to go now." The manager took multiple emails back and forth (inclusive of blaming us for negligence), telling us to just "seek care elsewhere", refused to give us answers to questions before stating that she now realizes their normal procedure of including the bloodwork in an estimate weeks prior was not followed in our case and apologized, but still insisted that they got signed authorization from us anyway, failing to address how this authorization was given unwillingly. She refused to do anything more but apologize. 2) Our dog returned to us with nails trimmed too short where dried blood was observed on each one of them, as well as occasional intermittent bleeding occurring. Kellie agreed they did this without permission. She said it is complimentary and they've never had complaints so this is why it's ok. They never informed us nor documented that they did this... as a result we didn't know to monitor it. Kellie outlined the critical nature of our dog's bleeding and implied it was likely negligence on our part for not bringing him back. She failed to address how they never asked permission, documented nor told us they did this in the first place. 3) Our dog was returned to us with 2 front teeth removed, rather than the back molar which was the reason for the procedure. The vet explicitly stated she would call us and ask for approval before removing any different or more teeth. She did apologize for the mistake of not calling but said she did what she felt was best for our dog. When this was forwarded to Kellie, she stated that because the additional procedures performed were under the highest estimate that we gave them authorization for, they are allowed to perform anything they want on our dog without permission. We understand emergencies happen but are very concerned with this being this clinic's normal practice for non-emergent situations. Kellie informed us that this practice inclusive of all the mistreatment that occurred with our dog and her right to close our relationship when she foresees no solutions to our concerns (which was right form the start) is within the accreditation standards. Although, on the multiple occasions she attempted to "close our discussion and push us out the door" she apologized and admitted to more faults/errors on their clinics part. Hoping others don't have to endure this mistreatment.
Very disappointed with the service I received at the Corydon Animal Hospital. I started going here for my Giant Schnauzer in June 2011 and finally had enough in July 2012 and left. 1. I saw a different vet each time I visited (about 6 times). 2. I have zero confidence in the fairness of the pricing I was given, both for annual vaccinations and emergencies. 3. When I was home in November (13 months old), I brought my dog to a friend/vet for his shots. She identified and irregular heart beat and told me I should monitor this as he continued to grow. Corydon did never picked this up until I brought him in several months later with secondary symptoms. 4. When my dog was bitten at the park I was happy to see they were open. He was stitched up and we came home with an appointment for 7 days later to have the sutures removed ($450 later). Only after these were removed and the wound opened up within 24 hours (no licking or scratching was possible) and I checked with a family friend/vet did I realize 7 days was much too early. Printed on the invoice in black and white was a statement that read sutures to be removed after 10-14 days. I brought him back in (different vet, again) and this time he was stapled up. Corydon Animal Hospital tried to charge me for the second visit after they screwed up the sutures. I had to speak to the manager before they accepted me not paying. 5. My dog developed a cough in the late spring and I brought him in. A new vet greeted me and said my dog had a very irregular heartbeat. I told him that I this was picked up in November and that no one from this animal hospital had picked it up yet. The vet recommended I have an X-ray done and possibly an ECG. At this point I was very mad and left without making any commitments to them. I have now started going to Birchwood Animal Hospital. Everything seems to be going well so far and it turn out my dog has a small space between his heart chambers that causes a murmur and the irregularity. Everything they've told me has been supported by the family friend/vet. Now Corydon wants to charge me for a copy of my dog's medical files. I wouldn't recommend Cordydon Animal Hospital to anyone.
Overall, I have been very happy with the service provided by Corydon Animal Hospital. My wife and I moved to Winnipeg in 2013. My wife works for a dog groomer who highly recommends this place. We took our 2 cats in for checkup with Dr. Lemeg. Dr Lemeg was very friendly, checked everything over and asked us detailed questions about their history. We never were pressured to get shots or anything they didn't need and got plenty of information regarding dental care and other cat care areas. This fall, we ended up taking one of our cats in to see Dr Strauss who recommended cleaning and tooth extraction if required. After speaking with others who go there, we learned that he does not recommend getting teeth cleaned lightly often suggesting rather than recommending. Now that we had the cleaning done and 2 teeth removed, our cat seems happier and eating more. The reception staff is always friendly, seems to remember everyone's pets who return there and very cheerful. The pricing can be a bit high at times, however quality service is provided at all times and they are more than willing to explain what each charge is and even recalculate to make sure it was done correctly. Much like a walk-in clinic, you can see whoever is available or ask for a specific vet. Though I don't recall ever meeting with anyone other than Drs Lemeg and Strauss, both of them gave excellent service when we have seen them and I trust them and appreciate their advice and experience.
Dr Lemag really made me feel like I neglected my best friend. I brought him in 3-5 times a year. 2 weeks before I had to put him down he was in to the clinic without any prompting to do a check up. I had to take him to another clinic to put him down. After the other clinic transferred the file she had the audacity to call me to blame me for essentially poisoning him. Absolutely heartbreaking and insulting for the amount I cared for my boy and for how often I brought him I it was downright offensive. She did provide good care for him while he was alive and in however the guilt she placed on me wished I didn’t go to that clinic. After I had to put my boy down she made a super upsetting phone call which made my girlfriend have a breakdown implying guilt/blame on us for him dying. I have bills proving I’ve spent over $10k on vet bills for him in 5 years yet I was still pressure to believe I neglected him. I had to put him down at bridgewater due to the emergency situation and I felt they were much more compassionate despite not even knowing who he was.
We landed there with our pet not eating for 4 days. We were really worried and stressed and in that situation we were given a totally wrong diagnosis saying our pet had infection , antibiotics were prescribed. His condition did not get any better. We called them asking if they could see him again, they told us we can leave the pet to the clinic until the doctor gets time to have a look , it could be after a couple of hours. That time we decided not to go there again and headed to emergency. To our surprise, the doctor did an overall check up and confirmed there was no infection, his stool was stuck in stomach. The prescribed medication worked for the emergency one and he is now all good. I do not understand if you are not sure enough about the diagnosis, why would you prescribe medication and just take your business forward using the stressed situation of the pet owner.I do not recommend anybody to visit there and have wrong diagnosis, medications and financial stress.
Originally I had written a different review than this one, it was a lengthy and scathing review. After some reflection I want to recognize that people have bad days. I have been here a few times for different reasons over the years though infrequent. Recently I took on a pet that needs a prescription food and this is one of the few places that sells it. My first interaction went well and smoothly, I called ahead for the food and went and picked it up the same day no problem. This time was much different; the employee was unpleasant and it was an uncomfortable phone call that resulted in me choosing a different office for my business. I'm not sure the quality of care from the staff or doctors, so this review us based on a different interaction. The phone service was not great, and I ended up finding a different office that sold the line of food I needed for less than the quote from this office.
For starters we had an appointment july 31st at 430 in which they phoned 4 days prior to cancel because they decided to cancel all their appointments to close early for the day. Unable to rebook us for 10 days. Not once was it mentioned on the phone to us about wearing a mask and we were told we would recieve a phone call the following day to confirm our appointment which never happened. Now when we get to the vet we are met by lies by one of their front desk workers assuring us she personally overheard one of her girls phoning us over the weekend telling us to wear a mask. We were out of town and cell service over the weekend making it impossible to speak to us directly over the phone and we did not return home to any voice messages from them. I would only come here if I wanted complete fools to attend to my animals. Shame on them for their unprofessional attitudes.
We took our dog here, after he had an unknown illness and wasnt eating, moving, very lethargic and something was very wrong. We felt the care given to our dog was very good. He was diagnosed and treated, and was better immediately following his visit here. Follow up care and concern was excellent also, we were very impressed with the follow ups done, and how often they did call. My only issue was the order in which tests were done. I'd recommend any and everyone to start with blood tests first, and go from there, we spent 420$ to find nothing, when a simple 58$ blood test showed the issue and how bad it was. I was pretty annoyed and frustrated being we relied on them to inform us on what tests should be done. Of course the expensive ones were done first, and cheap done later. Otherwise, the care, compassion and professionalism of the staff was great!
Our family loves Corydon Animal Hospital so much! We have two bunnies that see Dr. Strauss primarily. He is such a caring vet. Both of our bunnies have had serious illnesses (GI Stasis and ear infection) and Dr. Strauss was very attentive, quick to diagnose, diligent, explained things to us in a very kind way and talked us through everything we needed to know to ensure our bunnies got better. He also is very good about returning phone calls if we are unsure about something, and he proactively follows up with a phone call a few days after to see how things are going. I can't tell you how much we appreciate this! His staff are also super friendly and very compassionate. I have recommended Corydon Animal Hospital to many people, especially first time bunny parents, and will continue to do so. Thanks for everything.
Used to LOVE this clinic. I used to recommend them to everyone I knew. The veterinarians and support staff were always amazing and professional. But I don’t think I can support a business where the staff are now treated so poorly by the management. Inappropriate behaviour and harassment are just accepted as part of the job and they are so overworked and mistreated no wonder they have such high turnover rates. As soon as their office manager changed, everything started going downhill. She is a nasty lady who is passive aggressive and manipulative. No point trying to have a rational conversation with her. Again, this place used to be great...but I just can’t help thinking about what’s happening behind closed doors here. My best wishes to all the veterinarians and support staff that remain there 3
I took my rabbit here for a spay and the staff were very friendly, professional and helpful! After she woke up from the anesthetic they called me to let me know how the procedure went and how she was doing. When I went to pick my rabbit up, a vet tech very thoroughly went through the procedure and after care with me. The next day they called again to check up on her to see how she was doing and they advised me that she wasn’t eating enough and that I should come in to get a dietary supplement for her and encouraged me to call back to follow up. When I did so, the receptionist was very helpful, putting me on hold to double check with the doctor. I will continue to bring my pet bunny back to Corydon Animal Hospital and I encourage anyone else who has pet rabbits to do so also!
I came in with a sick cat not knowing what to expect as my regular vet didn't have anything available on short notice. Prices were really great and the staff were so friendly. They don't charge you for things that you don't necessarily need like a lot of the other animal hospitals that I have visited. The Vet (Amber Ly) talked me through the process and explained step-by-step what she would do during the exam and how much everything would cost. My cat had a UTI which had cleared up and came back so she decided to try a different kind of antibiotic. Happy to report it seems to be working. Also my cat is usually 10x more annoyed to be at the vet but he seemed to be more at ease at this facility.
I was there for the first time last Fall to have an exotic pet euthanized. When I came in, one of the receptionists brought me and my pet into an empty room and had me fill out some papers. She sounded half-asleep, like she didn't want to be there and was very cut and dry. When I inquired about the procedure, she said that the doctor would "gas him" in reference to my pet. I asked additional questions about the procedure; she continued to use the same terminology. It was jarring, unempathetic, and left a bad taste in my mouth. It's too bad, because the doctor himself was absolutely fantastic. If I would have had a better experience, I'd be bringing my exotics there regularly.
This place really rips people off. I’ve gone there twice. First time they charged me 95 dollars to put a tape measure to my dogs face and tell me it was going to be 2500 get it removed. 1 quote that takes 10 mins should not be $90. Then I went somewhere else.. they did the surgery for $1500… Then I went to there to get my dog’s bloodwork checked for hypothyroidism. They wanted to charge me $250 just to see if she has hypothyroidism. I called one place and they were $130 cheaper. Pretty large difference in pricing I’d say! I wanted to go here because it’s close to our house but certainly not worth it if the vets are taking advantage of people.
This is the best animal hospital in the city. One of our cats had a chronic urinary problem for a while and we took him to a couple different animal hospitals for 4 times. It costed us over $1,000 but the problem was never resolved. We then sent him to Corydon Animal Hospital which was strongly recommended by friends. The staff there were very friendly and the doctors were very knowledgeable. My cat's urinary problem was solved after only one visit. They care about your pets and they know what they are doing. I trust them!
Both of my cats have been patients of this clinic for 13 years. They both see Dr. Strauss and he is absolutely the best veterinarian ever. Willow was diagnosed with diabetes recently and I won’t lie.....I was terrified. I was scared on how Willow would be, on how I could give her needles?? Willow is doing great and I have overcome one of my fears thanks to the wonderful staff showing me how to do this! Both cat and “cat Mom” are doing great thanks to this wonderful clinic! We wouldn’t go anywhere else ❤️
Ended up here with our cat during an emergency as our usual clinic was booked full. The staff here took amazing care of our little Pierogi. It was a somewhat stressful situation and everyone we dealt with was kind, friendly, and informative. They are taking their Covid protocols seriously but still made the effort to feel like you are part of the appointment, even when you can't come in with your vet. We are making the switch to Corydon Animal Hospital from now on due to the great care we received. Thank you!
Everything started well initially but after 2 different doctors, two different diagnosis from the same hospital things quickly went down hill. Multiple visits for various reasons the doctor kept running more and more tests to see maybe if maybe if and 1000 dollars worth of tests and still no answers. Were never up front about costs. Just kept pulling more money from our wallet. Go else where or demand costs estimates up front. Will be going else where from now on.
Sadly we had to bring our senior dog in to be put down. Corydon Animal Hospital was recommended to me by a family member. The staff were very kind and compassionate during this sad time. They explained the prices and options for cremation and made the arrangements with Precious Pet Cremation. In the past I have had another senior dog put down and had to transport her to the cremation facility. Having someone else take care of this is a relief.
Two years ago, my kitten broken her leg and then I turn to here. And Dr. Madill gave me great suggestions, finally my kitten cured very well. Highly recommend Dr.Madill, he is the only veterinarian who can have the purr like cat. If your cat is easily getting nervous just turn to Dr.Madill. He is patience and professional. Normally when my cat and dog take the shoot by him, he will petting them first and then he will do the vaccination.
Learned our dog is suffering from some kind of neurological problems. The vet we had was very good. Laid out several possibilities of what it might be. She provided us with sheets to read about the possibilities. Told us the steps that need to be taken in diagnosing his problem and provided us with a detailed lists of costs for both appointment with bloodwork and upcoming appointment with xrays. Hoping and crossing our fingers.
Dr. Chartrand is an incredible human. She has excellent communication skills and goes above and beyond to break down lab results, treatment options, and follow-up recommendations in a timely, compassionate, and accessible way. Dr. Chartrand listens to concerns and takes the time to explore them thoroughly with an open mind. She has been a saviour for me and my sweet kitty. Shout out to vet tech Katie who is also amazing!!!
We have a old cat we call Iris, Iri for short. 21 yrs old. we thought her time had come and we were prepared for the end, but we were going to leave it up to the doc to see. Steve helped us out big time, did some tests isolated it to a slowed down renal system, so we put her on some good quality kidney friendly food and she's like new now. The people there are the best, nothing but good stuff!
The service was terrible, and the appointment got severely delayed. I had to wait outside of the clinic, which wasn't an issue until they took 20 minutes just to answer the phone, and they took more than 15 minutes just to get the dogs. After the appointment, the clinic said they would call to schedule the next appointment in a couple of days, and I still didn't hear back from them.
Really great staff. Dr Midall is my favorite doc!! He calls us to follow up and genuinely cares about our pooch. He has been very thorough with every visit. Prices are standard as I compared to other vets in the city. Our dog is fully blind, 15yrs old, incontinent and we are not sure how much longer we have with him. He’s been to this vet now about 8-9 times
Dr. Chartrand is amazing. The amount of care and interest that she shows in my dog is phenomenal. She is interested to listen to my comments of what I am noticing and goes over various options for care. She is patient with my dog who is admittedly not good at being still for needles. Her expertise and dedication is truly appreciated.
If you really love your cat or pet, you will find Dr. Ly the best possible professional to take care of him or her. Dr. Ly was magnificent in all aspects with our Mikey. She is kind to the owner and the beloved animals. Her approach is effective and totally transparent. Thank you very much, Dr. Ly and the Corydon Animal Hospital!
We’ve gone here before, but after the experience we just had, we won’t be going back. The staff didn’t seem to care about our dog, and watching them manhandle him, before they realized I was watching and closed the blinds, was heartbreaking. I’d pay more money and travel further to not have to deal with them again.
Always have a kind and caring experience for the animals we bring in. They take their time to make sure the animal we have in is as comfortable as possible before doing any tests, and also make sure that we are ok as well with what tests they are going to do. The folks here do a great job!
Such thoughtful and supportive people here. We only brought our kitty to be out down so no prior relationship but they were wonderful. We received a sympathy card in the mail after we had picked up the ashes and everyone had signed it. Such a thoughtful, unexpected, kind gesture. ❤️
I worked at CAH for Drs. Madill & Strauss back in the 90's. To this day, I can say it was one of my favorite jobs. They are both excellent vets because of their combination of knowledge & compassion. Not surprised to see they still have a successful practice. Miss you guys!!
The staff here are excellent. The veterinary staff are compassionate and driven. Sometimes they can run behind (the longest I’ve had to wait past an appointment time was an hour) but usually the service and the unmatched prices for veterinary products make up for this.
Dr Madill is the best vet we have taken our dogs to. Definitely has the best interest of your pets health in mind. Loves our dogs. Staff is always friendly, although it seems like there is a large turnover in this department, but doesn't affect the service.
I used to think the team was excellent then they sold it to some other people who are all about money and now dogs care is not first priority.....I love the staff and my dogs vets but the owner gets a big fat zero from me! Shame on yourself money over life!
The people here really care about animals and it shows. I've taken my puppy here for all of his shots and the experience has been great. He's definitely a big diva, but the staff go the extra mile to make sure he's comfortable, safe and in good health.
My cat was really stressed but the vet made him feel at home and he was purring in no time. Vet answered all my questions and the visit was amazing for both me and my pet. Price was a lot lower than I expected. Would definitely recommend to everyone.
My regular vet and all the other vets always treat my dog like he's extra special. They're open to refilling prescriptions without an extra costly visit and the veterinary assistants are always so kind to my dog. I'd recommend this vet to everyone
Truly loving and nurturing! Dr Madill is akin to Dr Doolittle in that I think he and my cat have some sort of special communication only they understand. She is always incredibly relaxed in his presence. Very accommodating, kind and caring staff.
I am grateful for the compassion the vet and staff showed me and my pet. The level of knowledge was impressive too, as they immediately knew what to do with my cat during an emergency. They were thorough in their explanations of procedures
Friendly, helpful, understanding, honest, and all around wonderful. I never feel pressured to do more than I can in terms of money with them still knowing how much I love my pets. All staff is great. Really appreciative of all they do.
Clean, professional and attentive to our concerns and questions. The associated costs with our visit and treatment were fair and itemized clearly. Our first-time here and we would not hesitate in recommending it to others!
We love the staff at Corydon Animal Hospital. They truly care for your pet as if it was one of their own. Doctor Lameg is wonderful and takes great care in the work she does. We can’t imagine taking our pets anywhere else.
I brought my cat in the same day that I called. Dr. Merv took great care of my little angel and was very thorough. I will definitely revisit with my cat when needed and will be recommending to friends and family!
If I could give zero stars I would. Dr Jebbink is the most incompetent vet I have ever experienced. She diagnosed my cat with a sprain when in fact he had a tumor. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE.
Everyone seems efficient and professional. More importantly the staff treats your animals with respect and as much dignity as the inevitable political breakdown a trip to the vet entails.
We've been here a couple times with our dogs. Staff was very friendly. Dr Cardoso was very thoughtful and committed. She had a stepwise approach which sometimes we miss in veterinarians.
I took my cat here to have her claws trimmed and it was great. Very quick, and the staff was very friendly. I will be bringing her here for all future appointments and vaccinations.
Dr Chartrand is above and beyond. She answers all my questions, is patient and makes sure I understand everything about my cat. I'm so thankful to have such a caring and kind vet.
Very Good the staff here is very good the service here is very good so if you want good service from Great staff just phone for an appointment and enjoy the service as I did
The staff and doctors here are amazing..they are super compassionate and thorough and offer pretty much everything my dog needs from the usual vet stuff to nail trims!
We have been going there for many decades. During that time we have received loving care for our many dogs and cats. They are wonderful and managing Covid very well.
Excellent care, reasonable price. The vet explained things so I could understand and called to check on my little cat. Would definitely go here again if needed.
Fantastic staff. They treat your furry pals with the utmost care. They make sure that you clearly understand the procedures and care that they are providing.
The place don’t no the price of nothing and when you ask about the value they already order for you. Unfortunately great vets with terrible customer service.
My cat is suffering in an emergency situation and they cancelled on me 2 hours before my appointment at 8 in the morning. Disgusting service. Do not go here.
Dr. Chartrand was so kind and gentle with our dog Ollie. She sat on the floor with him making him feel so comfortable and her examination of him was great.
Friendly staff. We have been going to Corydon Animal Hospital for many years. Always friendly and helpful and very compassionate during difficult times.
I've always been comming here since I was younger with my family and they have always been very professional and kind! Great place to bring your pets!
Friendly staff. They truly know animal health and thats their #1 focus.not lotsof toys and distractions just kind hearted medical focused vet hospital
Dr. Strauss is the most careful and best veterinarian ever. We really miss him. Since his retirement the hospital and customer service changed a lot.
Very friendly staff and helped me with my first puppy by giving me so much material. Also answered all my questions!! Thank you for all the help!
Dr. Cardoso is very nice, helpful, informative as well as the staff here. thank you very much for taking good care of our fur babies as always.
Been going there for years Charlie Brown is always nerverous there but they are calming and explain everything giving you options for his care
They did their job...but that was about it. They were barely friendly. Must have been a bad day. Our dog had just passed away. It was tough.
Very friendly and did a great job with my cat ... I think the cat wanted to go back as afterwards she crawled back into her travel cage lol
Have always been extremely helpful and informative with both my cat and dog. No problems at all recommending for your animals as well!
Amazing staff. Very clean and welcoming. Dr. Chartrand is amazing with my poochie. Wonderful clinic. Highly recommended!!!
These at the best doctors for canine diagnosis I have encountered. The warm hearts for cold noses motto is well-deserved.
Seems to have gone downhill. It feels like high pressure sales has taken priority over animal care unfortunately.
Had to put my dog down and it was one of the best places we could have taken him. Rest in peace Chewie …
It's truly the best place to take your pet, the staff are great and will always give you the best price.
Nice staff, friendly and caring. Excellent doctors. They call your home to follow-up. Excellent parking
Only a phone call for making an appointment. Because of pandemic we can not go inside with our pets.
We love Dr. Lameg, you can tell she really cares for your pet. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Wonderfully kind, useful, and sensible service. Definitely keeping them as our vet in Manitoba.
Very friendly staff. They took great care of my cat. Have efficient covid procedures in place.
