This story is long overdue, but we needed time to heal after our beloved cat Luna passed away in March 2023. Please read the entire passage if possible but if you cannot, please read the last two paragraphs. Our stray cat Luna (3-year-old female) was taken to the Crown Pet hospital to get spayed. This was because she seemed visibly uncomfortable when in heat and we wanted her to live the rest of her life in comfort. We researched for a year by calling and several different hospitals. We then came across The crown pet hospital which had amazing reviews. We booked an appointment for Tuesday, 14 March 2023. During Luna's check-up, everything seemed fine, although she was smaller than average. We were told they would use gas anesthesia for the surgery. Although the doctor said that she won’t need to stay at the hospital considering Luna's post-anesthesia behavior, we wanted her to stay at the hospital for a few days just to be safe. Luna was taken to a cat hotel, where she seemed comfortable, and we left, accidentally stating her age as 2 years instead of 3 years. We called back to correct this crucial information as there was a pre surgery blood test that should be performed on cats older than 2, but they assured us it wasn't necessary. The surgery was scheduled for the next day, and the doctor reported that it went well, even though Luna passed out with a MUCH lower dose of gas. Later that night, we received a call stating that Luna hadn't eaten dinner but appeared fine. The next day, she ate a little but skipped both lunch and dinner and was and growing weaker. The doctor decided to force-feed her and planned a blood test for Friday to identify the problem. On Saturday, the test results showed a significantly low white blood cell count, and despite attempts with antibiotics, Luna didn't respond well. At 10 am Saturday (18th). I walked in with my family and it was much worse than I imagined. She seemed limp and not at all the energetic, playful Luna. She couldn't even stand. She was laying down with a drip in an incubator. Our entire family broke down in tears. The doctor's final attempt was to inject white blood cells. We even paid the amount due as of now being RS47,000 in hopes to motivate them to do whatever they can because we were willing to pay absolutely anything. We were ready to take her abroad if necessary if the treatments weren't available here. We were expecting an improvement of some sort however, at 7 pm, the doctor informed us that Luna might require an oxygen mask. We anxiously awaited updates, but the final call shattered our hopes, Saturday 18th March 9.47 pm, our beloved Luna had passed. We know that the doctors didn't have any intention for this to happen however, this was pure carelessness. There were minor signs that they ignored and precautions that should have been taken. They just HOPED that it would all go well. An important precaution they ignored when we ASKED them if it was necessary just in case was the blood test. This same exact blood test was eventually performed on Friday to see why Luna was so weak. There was a possibility that the low white blood cell count could have been identified before she underwent surgery. But instead, they glossed over it and INSISTED that it wasn’t necessary. The 2nd sign was the dosage of gas anesthesia, our Luna passed out at 0.5 when a normal cat is supposed to pass out at 1.8 (as I remember). This was a clear sign that she was weak and might not handle the surgery well. It was the professional's job to let us know this as soon as possible and not take their chances doing the surgery. We visited them a week after on the same day and confronted them asking for clarity. They were unsure of what exactly happened and took accountability for their actions which I commend them for but I feel that this tragedy could have been avoided with better decision making. We hope this serves as a reminder for everyone to ask questions, double-check information, and insist on necessary pre-surgery tests, regardless of the doctor's recommendations.
When a little buddy is harmed or ill, pet owners can only turn to a veterinarian for help. Dr. Chandika Wickramasinghe is our most trusted veterinarian to date especially when it comes to our rabbits, he is the only person that we prefer to rely on. He has done two operations on our cat Punctu as well as on one of our dogs. All three operations were successful. Juliet underwent surgery for an infection that had damaged her liver and kidneys, and we are so relieved to see her alive and well again. Thank you so much Dr. Chandika and the rest of the staff at Crown Pet. Dr. Chandika has always been wonderful with our pets, and they have always been extremely calm when they visit him. Also, I must mention that he is a very skilled surgeon and well-organized as well.
Crown pet hospital is the best ever hospital I've ever been to so far out of all the pet care clinics I've been to. My little Shih Tzu named Santa(who wasn't even 1 year) got really sick. He started purging blood and vomiting all the time. We took him to a clinic but it didn't really help. We all thought that we were going to lose him until I discovered crown pet hospital. we rushed him there and the staff and doctor were kind enough to let us admit him there(he was in serious condition). The doctor and members stayed up all night to take care of him,(even sent us pictures) Next day morning we were informed that our little puppy is going to live! we all cried for happiness and joy, I 100% highly recommend this hospital!
Dr. Chandika is absolutely the best. He's so calm and attentive my cats' who normally get skittish around vets are super calm with him. I'd recommend Dr. Chandika for an excellent dental diagnosis and care for cats and dogs any day of the week and twice on a weekend. The place is super clean. I love the cat and dog handler there. I got my cats' reports very quickly. The fees are not more or less than the normal vet places in colombo.
Been taking my Persian kitten Nicky here since they opened and I could say the veterinarian was amazing he always gave the most effective medicines for sicknesses and always answers your phone calls in case if you got any more questions even if it’s at 9pm at night. I don’t have any experience with surgeries but with treatments and mild medications their service is amazing
Highly recommend Crown Pet hospital. Dr. Chandika is very thorough and knowledgeable and took the time to explain my pet's condition and options available. He truly cares about his patients and the concerns of the family and goes out of his way to provide treatment. The best veterinary care I have experienced so far!
We housed our two cats during our trip overseas. Akira aged 4 months and Leah who is 2 years were well looked after. CPH sent daily videos of the cats to ensure our minds were at ease and that our fury friends we well looked after. Thay have amazing customer and aminal care and would highly recommend their services.
Crown Pet Hospital is a wonderful place. I visited them last week and the staff was incredibly kind. I went to see their cat hotel, and a lovely little girl named Imasha showed us around. She was so friendly and did a great job. I'm planning to board my cat there in January and I'm looking forward to it.
Neat and tidy place. A gentle doctor. Staff are kind too. Kept my cat in the boarding. Saw the others cats abd now I feel like visiting them often. My cat does not allow any body to carry her. But here the staff Nilmini and Nimesha were easily carrying her and petting her. Love this place …
Usually, my pup is a little bit skittish around people. But, it was not the case here. He was quite comfortable with Dr. Chandika and let him do the physical examination properly. Dr. Chandika is very kind and loving towards the pets. And the staff here is very friendly and helpful as well.

We experienced the efficient treatment that the Crown pet hospital has given to our cat Lean as a cure for her viral flu. We look forward for a full time daycare center for cats and dogs and services at night time for addressing issues and emergency.
