I live around the corner from Drink PLG and would rather take the train to a diff wine shop bc their customer service is atrocious. It wasn’t like this a couple years ago. Rude staff who can’t be bothered with a simple greeting to customers when they walk in the store or answer the phone. I’m not sure if staff members hate their jobs, but if so, they shouldn’t take it out on customers. Fix your attitude. EDIT- Howard, one of the owners, reached out to apologize about the customer service experience, and also talk about the steps he’s taking with staff to ensure a great experience for all guests. He also sent over a couple of bottles as a gift. I appreciated his effort overall and look forward to giving Drink PLG another chance. (5.22.20) Update (2.7.22) - my go to spot now!
Great assortment of distinctive bottles? Check. Wine descriptions hand-written written by various staff touting their favorite picks? Check. In-store tastings? Check. Friendly, knowledgeable employees? Check. Drink PLG has it all: hospitality and a great selection of curated wines and spirits from all over the world -- and even those fun cans of pre-mixed cocktails. Leif, a manager and heck of a nice guy, is a veritable cocktail and spirits savant; on various occasions he’s offered me impromptu master classes on bourbons, gins, rums and more! Drink PLG, around since 2017, has certainly achieved that rarefied neighborhood status: an institution.
$4 dollars for a client. I had a hard time there the last time I buy them wine. (A few summers ago) I bought 2 or 3 bottles of wine to bring to a picnic. I ask them if they can give me some of the plastic cups that they use to try new wines. It is just a picnic I thought. The guy told me that he can only give me 4, I asked if it was possible 4 more and he ended charging me for the cups. Well I paid $4 for 8 plastic cups. (Normally for free any ware) $4 dollars cost them one client. Sorry but Not Sorry
Mixed feelings about the place. I order online and my order was not ready even after I called to confirm. I tried to explain my concern to an employee which seemed to care less for what I had to say. I understand that they we’re busy at the time but giving me the attitude threw me off. I less customer they have to worry about. There are plenty of other neighborhood businesses I can support during this time.
As someone who works in wine retail I have chummed it up with employees at this store and (coming with the territory) have heard through others how awful the management is. They treat their employees terribly here which explains the high turnover. I don’t want to get specific as to protect those who continue working there but if you can help it, do not support a store that treats their employees this way!
Love this store, buy from them regularly. Very reasonably priced selection for everyone’s pockets. It’s hard for me to understand, why apparently some people claim it’s better to get some bad, nearly drinkable product from liquor store with bullet proof glass, than for e.g. a 15$ gamay which I randomly picked up today. Knowledgable and friendly stuff, who are always willing to help and chat about wines.
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff that is really good at providing wine suggestions. A nice and varied selection of wines that span in price from cheap and affordable to definitely special occasion. There are regular wine tastings (with no pressure to actually buy) and there is a points rewards system that only requires you to have a name and email address.
I happened to come in during a wine tasting and the choices were really good. The customer service was refreshingly great. I like that the choices are so vast and I get to try something different outside of my usual go to wines. Wish they had more choices, but with the size and layout I also like the simplicity of it.
Neighborhood friendly and infinitely helpful! Intimidated by wine, or want to find something to help class up your quarantine bar tending? They’re great at pointing out products and so responsive over phone / app communication! Awesome showcasing of local, small batch, and small business products!
Dope little spot with a cool staff and a wide selection. Right next to the train. They have a cool patio space and they host a few great events from time to time. I should go grab a bottle for the weekend today!
Great place normally but just went there 5 mins before closing and gates were down. If you close at 8, that means your doors should be open until 8. Lame. Old staff definitely would have let me buy a bottle.
To be honest I could go to any other wine shop in BK, but Brette is so kind and helpful and knows exactly what spirits I need. I'm so happy that they are opened and responsible with social distancing.
An amazing gem of a wine/liquor shop in NYC. Highly recommend stopping in. They have an amazing selection and are very knowledgeable. The prices are also fair/reasonable. The sweetest ❤️❤️❤️
Nice selection at various price points. Staff seem to have trouble welcoming all clientele, including folks who have been in the neighborhood a long time. Unfortunate.
Recommending this place to the end of my days, I love how they always bring in new selections of different wines and I always get try something new. Love this place!
GORGEOUS store with a phenomenal and unique selection of wine and spirits. Beautiful yard for tastings. Excellent variety of price points. Highly recommend
DRINK has a wide selection in the neighborhood and friendly, very knowledgeable staff. The space is beautifully designed and easy to navigate.
Love this little spot! Between the great selection, the wine tastings, the loyalty program, and the knowledgable staff this place is a GEM!
Staff is incredibly rude and this place ruins the vibe of the neighborhood. None of the locals appreciate them and want them out!
Great selection (including rare releases like Foursquare ECS, at a pretty reasonable price), lovely space, knowledgeable staff.
They have a high-quality selection of wine and spirits, and I could listen to them talk about alcohol all day long.
Continually impressed with this small wine shop. Eager, knowledgeable service. Great variety and great prices.
Great selection of wines and small, curated liquor selection. Neighborhood go-to for all your alcohol needs.
Good selection at all price points, community-based & oriented, friendly staff, & fun tastings & events.
Really have been happy with my purchases here! Plus the staff is super knowledgeable, kind and helpful.
They have plenty of sleeper good wines here that make a trip worthwhile. Won't break the bank either.
Great wine selection at affordable prices. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly- esp Mathilde!
