talk about a racket. they certainly know how to make tow truck drivers rich and I'm in the wrong field of work. After paying the "standard" tow fee of $121, storage fee $100 and impound fee of $20 and lets not forget the tax on that - a grand total of $250 for 2 days - I was told that i had to have it towed out because my dealer's tag is expired. Okay great, I'm thinking I'll just pop on over to Autozone and get a tow strap for my companion's truck outside in the parking lot and off we go home. Oh no! It has to be a towed out by a flat bed. You'd think they would let you drive it off the lot so they could pull you over down the street for an expired tag and get even more money out of you! Well, after calling just about every tow truck service in the city, half of them didn't answer, of the few that did answer, only a couple had the proper license to tow from the Dallas Citty Impound! Seriously, you have to have a special license to be able to tow a car from the Dallas Impound. I didn't realize the City Impound was so special - the Dallas Police need to get over themselves. Not only that, these modern day road pirates they're in league with, were wanting to charge me $125-$200 just to have my car towed from Ft.Worth avenue and Vilbig to Ervay and Corinth! We're talking just a few miles here from one side of downtown to the other! One tow truck driver wanted to charge me $150 because it was his day off but his day on fee was $140! Because the license costs so much, he says. Uh huh. Excuse me, while I call 'Bull@%" The Dallas Police department is not a public service anymore. It's a full blown corporate entity hell-bent on making as much money off the citizens as they possibly can. As far as the service at the impound, it wasn't too bad. Just take a number and wait to be called. As long as no one is causing a ruckus at the window, you should be seen fairly quickly. My wait on a Saturday afternoon was about 15 minutes. The clerks were friendly and as nice as one could expect from a city job but you better have a paper copy of your insurance though. They won't accept copies on iPads or phones. I was able to use the free WiFi they provide, to fax them a copy from my DropBox.
Doesn't deserve even 1 star. I was involved in an accident where I was hit by someone who ran a red light on Friday night. Moved my vehicle to the side, took care of insurance and set up a tow, then was advised by the FD I could take off and didn't have to wait with the vehicle in the cold. Police end up towing vehicle after my requested tow somehow couldn't find the vehicle. Got the information about the impound from Office Davis, who was nice and very helpful in getting the initial information. I can't do anything until Monday with insurance due to it being a weekend at that point (after midnight). I call the impound lot and am told there is an authorization to release automobile form that I have to fill out. I informed them that USAA is my insurance and lienholder, at which point I was told USAA could fill out paperwork to have vehicle released and no further action is required from me. I spoke with my insurance in regards to getting the vehicle picked up, they said it would probably be Tuesday before they could get it, and I was under the impression that I did not have to do anything else. Thursday rolls around and I call my USAA for an update. They haven't been able to pick up the vehicle because authorization hasn't been given. I advised USAA what I was told, and they called the impound and was told that I had to fill out the form for release, get it notarized, then show up in person WITH the tow truck that the vehicle is supposed to be released to in order to get my vehicle out. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to drive halfway across the city to sit and wait for a tow truck to show up without missing work, hope they are on time, and hope they don't come up with some other illegal BS that I have to do so they can scam charging for more days of storage. Request everything from the City of Dallas in writing if you want to hold them accountable. Otherwise, they'll just change the rules, and continue to scam you.
After being hit by a driver under the influence the tow company I hired was sent away by the officer at the scene of the accident and was forcefully towed from "The city". After days of there "computer system" being down and me showing up multiple times I finally saw some light I could go see my car. After a 2 hour wait my name was called with a group of people to go view our cars... mine was not that easy. After about 1-2 hours of driving around looking for my missing car with 4 groups of people we figured out my car was "accidentally" placed in the wrong spot. The spot where my car should have been placed already had a car in it so the trucker put it somewhere else. Then the impound carelessly shoved a forklift into it and it was tossed into the auction row. When we finally find it the damages were far beyond how I last saw it. It still gets worse... I have a properly signed bill of sale with a properly signed title, and some goofy form that I paid to have notarized so the insurance adjuster from the guys company who hit me could come out to write damages and pay me for it. They won't let him in. I've been on the phone between them and their call center and everyone keeps saying a supervisor or manager will call me, but all that happens is a employee calls and doesn't know what to do due to the complexity of the issue "head was spinning" actual words.... and as far as the actual manager goes? Waiting for the 4th time for this "manager" and not a normal emplyee to call me so I can figure out what to do before my car gets sold at their auction. I just want y'all to allow the insurance adjuster in to view my car so he can write me a check! I've supplied you with all of your required documents from me and the adjuster but he is being turned down.
Someone needs to develop a computer system to get rid of all these incompetent, uncaring human beings working at this facility. My car was towed by the city from my town home. It was parked legally along the street next to the town home I live in, and was towed for a "parking violation" even though eyewitnesses and neighbors told me the city was towing cars off the street that afternoon to do roadwork. I reported it stolen at 11pm when I got home after calling the towing companies and 911 to see where it was towed to. Well they never reported my car as being towed, even though it was in the AFTERNOON and the operator told me the tow companies are required to report a car within two hours of towing. This was 11pm. Two days later and investigator fidna my car and says it was never reported because it was in transit at 11pm, even though it was towed in the afternoon. When I went to the impound the woman at the window refused to give me any information in regards to what the parking violation was unless I paid the fees to get my car out. The whole situation is crooked and messed up and I'm taking the city to court for stealing and illegally towing my vehicle. All they want to do is tow cars that may look like they belong to low income families who can't afford to get it out and then AUCTION them off to make more money. Dallas has had a problem with this before and if this isn't resolved I'm going to fox news about it. This is no way yo treat the citizens of this city!
I called the police pound over and over and NEVER reached anyone on the phone. Nor does the phone have an answering service with hours of operation and address. (The place is open 7 days a week). I decided to take a chance and drive there and though the place is very well-staffed, everyone was just standing around talking and laughing. The service is atrocious. Even though the line was long, service was very slow and the front desk was staffed with just one person. I politely went to the front window and asked that another window be opened. The lady said, "Sure" and told the other workers she needed help. It took another 20 minutes for them to open another window. After my number was finally called and I received my paperwork, I find out only one person at a time is allowed to go to see the vehicle (this is for tow truck drivers also). If I lived in a third world country, you would get better customer service from the bureaucrats. I don't know who supervises this place but I wish someone would find out and post it so we could have them fired.
Worst experience ever. I called to inquire about my daughters car, the lady I spoke to had a spanish accent. She was able to tell me the car had just arrived. However, every time I tried to say anything or ask a question, she kept talking over me. After trying to get a word in edgewise several times, I had to say to her, "let me speak". She became defensive and I advised her that her customer service skills were the worst. She then wanted to argue with me about that. She placed me on hold for a supervisor, then came back and said "he" was on another call, placed me on hold again. She then returned and said " the supervisor said "SHE" would call me back. I was only given the name of Ms. Sharon as the supervisor. I then thought to myself , let me try taking this down a notch and offer this lady some type of compliment. Unfortunately, I could not get a word in to do that. Finally I gave her my number and told her "next time, shut-up long enough for someone to offer her a compliment" and hung up... Still waiting on this supervisor call
after waiting over an hour, when there was only 4 people in front of me, my 7 year old daughter who has ADHD, made the best of it decided to play with a little boy her age, the lady behind the counter said with a smart mouth those kids need to get off the floor and out the way, then hear comes the guard. he tells me with that my kid needs to stay with me and she needs to sit down. I tell him she can not stay still she is bored and has ADHD, them kids are not bothering anybody. Im not going lie I went off on him I even showed him the medicine. next thing you know he is man handling me picks me up, my feet don't touch the ground and I am only 4ft 10in, meanwhile my kid is still inside, she is crying, he kicked me out told me to shut up or I was going to jail, I was left with bruises, and years later I still have marks that officer left on me
I would like to thank officer Garcia. She was very helpful in my time of need. I got my car stolen and was able to get it out if the impound without much trouble and i was able to check out my car beforehand to see if it was still in driving condition. It does cost money to get it out,but if you're a rational adult you can understand that nothing in life is free. I see why the people who work there can be in a bad mood because the majority of people who come in to look at their cars are rude AF. If people learn how to correctly talk to the employees they would get better results instead of trying to bark orders at the officers and getting no help as a result. I was annoyed by some of the people who were there so I can see why dealing with people like that all day can put the employees in a bad mood.
I’ve never had a good experience at this place! If I could rate 0 stars I would! First time my car was impounded they lost my key and sent me back and forth to the wrecker company who towed my car and back to them then told me to make a claim that I never received I ended up having to pay $300 for a locksmith to come and make me a new key on sight on top of the $300 I paid to get my car out. Then to top it off, my sunroof was somehow open and it rained, and my battery was dead from all interior lights being on. Second time they broke my key and only gave me the part for the keyless entry. They once again told me it’s not they fault and sent me back and forth from them to the wrecker company that took my car in. They both told me they couldn’t do anything about it.
If I could rate this negative stars I would. They're only open till 5pm everyday and then they lost the keys to my car. So I had to incur another day's charges, pay 100 dollars for a tow truck to get my car off their lot and take it 50 feet to safety, then I had to pay another 150 dollars for a locksmith to make me a new key. There were 3 of us with lost keys there at the tow lot at the same time. The Dallas impound lot is blaming the towing company but clearly the impound employees are at fault since this happened to 3 people within an hour all of whom used different tow companies in the first place. The government needs to fire all of these idiots and take responsibility of being liable for losing people's property. They will be hearing from my attorney.
The City Of Dallas Impound yard continues to operate under their own rules and regulations THUMBING THEIR NOSE at the laws set forth by the Tx. Dept. of Licensing and Regulations. Yeah, I was arrested for a simple ticket that I neglected to pay and so they did what they felt necessary and I can accept that but I paid my ticket and was released from Lew Sterrett Justice Center in 4 hrs.. Then went to pay my truck out of the pound so I copuld go to work , BUT guess what the pound was CLOSED!!!!! But ONLY FOR RELEASING NOT IMPOUNDING ??? Really, especially when The LAW IN TEXAS STATES IF A POUND ACCEPTS VEHICLES 24/7 THEN THEY MUST RELEASE THEM 24/7. So who makes the rules in Tx.??? DALLAS or AUSTIN???
Everyone here clearly hates their job. We walked in to recover a stole vehicle and the lady at the window had the worst attitude. Communication skills were horrible no type of Custer service provided. Then the people outside talk to us with no kind of respect they have an authority trip. The small Mexican lady yelled at me from across the building to “go inside” no type of respect or customer service. I wish someone who could do something about the people up front would read these reviews. Horrible. Absolutely horrible place. We were victims of a stolen car and we come in here to deal with these people. I would give it zero stars if I could.
Im calling to check if a vehicle is there.. it is 12:14 I have been calling since 11:02 and i just keep getting the same please hold message Im from Houston and I gotta say even though Houston is one of the biggest cities I can say when your car is towed we have an online system that tells u all the info and if u call they hurry up and pick up the phone and we got hundreds of them! (they prob bleed us on the impound fees) but they know people need their vehicle and will come up with the money quick. with that said I was pretty bummed that such a small city with this 1 main impound lot has such poor customer service .......the cowboys suck!
Somebody Tow Away My Toyota Camry License # CX9W184 from My Private Parking Lot So I Came Here at 2 PM & See a Lady at 3PM She Said They Tow Away My Car from Private Parking Lot So I Ask to See a Manager Here and They Asked Me to Wait Another Window & It Now 3:43PM & a Lady Showed Up at 3:38 She Said The Car is Runing On the Grass That is Why They Tow to City Pound But The Engines & Transmission was Broke That is Why I Parked at My Parking Lot They Cant Move My Car Without Towing Truck However City of Dallas Tow away My Car from My Private Parking Lot to City Pound & They Asked Me to Pay Money I Really Have No Idea What to Do?
I deal with them more than a dozen times a year and it's the most redundant and horrible process you can imagine. I cannot imagine the training process for the employees but I would think by experience that they tell them to make it as difficult as you possibly can for the person to retrieve their vehicle and pile on every fee possible, even fees for things that haven't been done yet.. When you have staff that doesn't know that a 4DR(four door) and a sedan are the same thing, and are willing to turn down the paperwork because of their own ignorance, you have the most inept people you can find. That includes the supervisors.
Only gave this place a 1 star because anything lower than that is not possible. The front desk woman is incredibly rude, demeaning, and won’t let you get a word in without telling you how wrong you are. Upon deciding she didn’t want to talk to me or help me she sent me to a police officer. Thank God she did because he was actually helpful and explained things so much better and actually listened to what I originally came in for. I anticipated having to wait for a long time which I had no issue with. What I didn’t anticipate was the awful treatment by the short, older, front desk woman.
They have very bad customer service. Extremely rude to people they “help”. They also give a lot of attitude even though one is calm. They are also racists to Hispanics or people that don’t speak English properly since the majority of the officers aren’t bilingual. They need new people in their offices that are kind and understand the help one needs. One last thing is that the officers are always on their phones instead of helping the customers so that the line doesn’t get longer. !!!!!!!!! EXTREMELY BAD SERVICE AT THIS PLACE!!!! sadly there is only one impoundment of Dallas.
When you choose a career field that services the public, you should at least try to provide reasonable customer service. The rude, lazy and overall unprofessional attitude you encounter here is disheartening. My car getting towed was my fault. The officer loudly questioning and berating me for keeping MY lease paperwork, insurance and ID in MY car was embarrassing and unnecessary. I am a disabled veteran with a traumatic brain injury that causes me to be forgetful. I'd definitely say that the staff here could use some training in empathy and customer service.
What stated out as a bad 1st week in December after a hit and run auto accident, Supervisor Dunlap made the difference in an already difficult situation. She want the extra mile to assist me with the management of retrieving my property. Supervisor Dunlap made a commitment and followed through. The professionalism she demonstrated is what all of us can learn from in when providing service to others. Thank for exercising empty, activities listening and keeping your word. I appreciate your integrity All the best, Dr. Janice M Wilson
It is a shame and disgrace that anyone would venture to give this place a rating higher than 1 star which is more than deserved in all areas: number of workers, customer service, fees, expectation of reasonable rules (Ha! Don't waste your time), process, protocol and more. This is not to say that 100% of the employees are jerks, but one or 2 nice employees who is very limited in the process doesn't change the rating, (few nicer employees actually stand out almost weirdly from the norm)
This was place is terrible. We’ve been here for an hour, we’re in line trying to retrieve the car but they’re only letting people in one at a time and the officer allowing people in and out is slow and it’s not clarifying anything for anyone. Not only have we not gotten our car yet but there’s no processing system to give a wait time. The attendants are rude too. This should be a seamless process and it’s not. And we have to pay and we’re only here because someone STOLE our vehicle.
The cop was rude . Told me I can't take this. your paperwork so you can get your truck out . I was on hold for 40 minutes woman told me y'all could hang on to it . I hope to never deal with y'all agian , making someone go out to where the truck is being towed to , what not keep the damn paper til the tow guy gets there , why make some who got in a major wreck adding more stress. By doing that. Explain please? !
I wish I could put negative stars !! After Being in a wreck and also suffering a broken ankle the police on the scene ramshack my car !!!!!!!! I had $320 in my arm rest for my things in the pawn shop and the took it !!!!!!!!!!!! So I let to place know so I have to fill out a report but do you think I’m going to get my money back after DPD took it? NOT AT ALL!!! Clearly they aren’t getting paid enough.
Worst place ever! Wait is long and these employees take there sweet time checking people out. There is only 2 people checking everybody out with like 30 people in the lobby. Need more employees to make this process easier and faster. That's why we pay taxes right. Well I won't be paying to get my car out. I have another car now. So the bank will pay to get it out now. So y'all won't get my money.
This place is absolutely ludicrous!!!! Wait time is very very long, and the staff are slow very very slow and they aren’t nice to talk to. They don’t do fax, and the process is horrible! They don’t act like they want to help. They need to hire more people and utilize all of the windows, to get customers in and out in a timely fashion. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place!
This place is awful. I waited an hour just to ask a question, and to be treated like I had just kicked the lady's cat. I just wanted proof that my car was auctioned off without my knowledge lol who do you think was having the worse day? Like take a deep breath, ma'am. Get a new job. Go do something you love.
OMG!! Worse experience ever. I have been on hold for an hour and 15 minutes, then the phone hung up. I called again on hold for another hour and then the phone hangs up again! & I have to call before I go up there because our company truck was stolen and I need to know how much money to bring to get it out!!
If I could give them less than 1 star, I would. I've been on hold for two days, in one-hour increments because their system times out at one hour and hangs up on me! Is the City of Dallas so broke they can't afford to hire more people to answer the phone? Your call is NOT important to them.
Atrocious. Dallas should be ashamed. The PD should be ashamed. There is no excuse for the level of indolence and absolute sloth that they display. It's disgusting. If it were a privately run business they'd be on skid row in a week. The entire section needs to be fired.
Horribl experience in my life. This place 1000000% needs more employees . I was 31 days on hold and every time you call no one answer you for hours, Inside this place you got wait for at least 2 fac... hours to just find out what the hell is going on with your car.
Worst city ran organization in the country I'm sure. Nobody knows what's going on and if you want your vehicle out you better take the day off, pack a lunch, and bring money to bribe them to let you pull the vehicle out. Otherwise you are utterly screwed.
Nice scam they have set up here, "thank you sir for paying for your car that was stolen", "now you have to go outside to negotiate and pay one of the tow truck people standing outside to get your car even though you brought your own way to tow it....."
We are sorry for the delay...your call is important to us...please stay on the line...cue cheesy musak...be prepared because thats what you are going to hear for 2+ hours before you get to talk to anybody. Worst customer experience of all time
I just sat on hold for 53 minutes. hung up and called again. another 10 minutes. and this is my second and third attempt to reach by phone. when i called the first time and sat on hold i assumed everyone was at lunch. Does no one work there?
Called into the tow yard, the officer working was extremely helpful and forewarned me about a long wait, it being the day before Thanksgiving. Once getting here I've already expected the long wait. What I did not expect was the rude and
If I could I would give a 0 stars. BAD customer service. Both ladies that helped us were so damn rude to us. And they were saying loud why they had pound our car. If you don't like your job go look for another one. That damn simple.
Ok so they were a little slow having a full room and only 2 officers. But they were nice and Helpful. The lady driving me to my vehicle was an absolute joy. I guess it all depends on if you give respect you get respect in return.
I've been on hold for a hour and six minutes then the phone hung up!!!!!. I don't have time for this nor do I have a car to go up there and make sure my belongings are still there. This is ridiculous and extremely unprofessional
The police call my about my husband was going to jail if no one was could pick him up, but my car will be toll. I try to call the pound to get information and they want answer the phone. I have been holding and hour or longer.
I myself haven't had a good experience yet... Wait times are horrific, they will have a person waiting at least 3 hours before they know something I think the shortest time I have ever waited was 2 total hours once... …
I tried to get my truck out with the proof of insurance displayed on my occupational license. They claim this isn't proof of insurance. How is that not proof of insurance. This means I will have to reschedule my entire week.
Very bad customer service...over crowded waiting room...had to pull 2 tickets with each ticket costing 3 hours wait before being allowed to pay fine...this is the worst highway robbery ever...what a sad twist of society
Had to wait quite a while and was told it would be $300 but when I called they said $181 then I was told the driver had to be there which he was when I went 3 days ago. I did get it resolved and was ok with the outcome.
Worst place ever, it gets way too pack and the officers who take the people to their vehicles, they take forever to come back, my husband and I been there since 2:40pm and now it's 5:07pm... I hate this place!!
By Far the worst experience in my LIFE!! The hispanic lady at the window, knew exactly why I was here, but she made me wait 1 hour to take 5 minutes to tell me I could not view a vehicle. RIDICULOUS!
A scheme to employ those with no skills. A tariff on the American people for parking mistake fees added daily plus interest and tax. Criminal. I wouldn't piss on a employee if they were on fire
Zero stars if possible , if they hate their job so bad they should quit , they don't help , they are rude. They act if they are doing us a favor , we pay for everything , worst place ever !
Incredible service. They helped me immediately and we’re extremely accommodating helping me find the pickup. I was even driven around the lot to help search for it. 6 stars if I could.
I called for the pass two weeks for my dads car and they told me that it wasn’t there. After they created a case they had already sold it two days before they got in touch with me
They got so many people just standing around waiting on them while they all in the back talking about what I don't know smh I'm just tryin to get my car and get up out of here
There were only 2 people at the front desk and they took forever and 2 white guys came in and just skipped everyone which is great when the wait is like 30 minutes per person.
If I could give them 0 stars I would. The lady in the front was so rude and disrespectful. There were no other customers and even then she acted this way towards us.
Joann n Antonio needs to be fired they disrespect me and they said i need to go back to my country and im from here. Yall needs to talk to them yall gonna get sued
They got the worst costumer service No respect for the costumers They hate working there? I don’t know Definitely they need employees with costumer service Skills
The automated phone puts you on hold for an hour then disconnects you! So you have to call back and start all over again! They NEVER answer the phone over there.
Inconsistency and poor service. First visit was very good. Second visit... moving target of requirements. I'm the victim trying to recover stolen property.
All towing facilities have a $50 notification fee. You will usually receive 2 notifications by mail, to the address of the registered title holder. Duh.
A scheme for obtaining money, I feel sorry for those having to deal with these people. Its 2017 please figure out the phones DPD-Auto Pound.
I cannot believe our tax dollars pay for this crap. This is the worse experience ever. This shouldn't even be categorized as a business
Officer Garcia was very rude! She had an attitude while I was giving her information about my Stolen car she wasn’t polite or anything!
I am still on hold at the moment and it has been an hour waiting. I just need to take care of something real quick but apparently not.
Many “customers” here were victims of car wrecks, some resulting in serious injuries or death. Try to treat them with some kindness.
Worst place ever they are rude and slow as ever.I have never seen people that are supposed to be for the community act like they do.
Awful takes forever. Sometimes over an hour after walk in. Need more people working to improve wait time and processing of people.
terrible service, employees are too slow 30 minutes per people.... with our the taxes that we pay we deserve better service....
Was hit by a car they hit us on the back passenger side and we flipped and totalled the suv. The sergeant was a real nice guy
I loved going up there with my man when we were together loved seeing all the different tow company i miss it I miss riding
They are crooks, I'm filing. Lawsuit against them. I'm a disabled veteran and they towed my SUV while I was in the hospital
Horrible service an hour waiting everytime i call . They need more people. Charging a lot of money for that crappy service
its the worst impound ever, they don't answer the phone, I have no idea how they hire this kind of ppl .... very rude
Your website is broken. The wait time is ridiculous. I was on hold 10 minutes the first time i called and then 5 min
Aggressive and rude ladies, can't even ask one question without getting attitude and yelling at your face.
Horrible service!! phone call wait is ridiculous they hang up on you when you call!!! zero stars PEOPLE
I was on hold for over an hour and it just hung up in me. Does nobody work there? ?? Just horrible! !!
Thanks for the help! You guys and gals really did a stand up job! I can’t say thank you enough!
Horribly long wait times 30+ minutes every time I call to verify anything with their office.
Over all i had the best experience i would have at a city car impound. Staff was friendly!
very happy with the service of Mrs. syoung I was treated wonderfully Gracias señora syoung
This place sucks ass. You'll have grey hair by the time you get done waiting in here
wait was long, but once it was my turn staff was very friendly and helpful.
Rude idiots. Required to pay a wrecker a ton of money FOR EVERY CAR.
Horrible service and always have a excuse for charging u more fees
They're beyond simply rude. It's like they're aliens or something.
Worst customer service they have an attitude for everything.

The staff very rude And not helpful at all for no reason !
Worst service, just wanted to get my things out of my car
AWFUL SERVICE. The lady at the front was extremely rude.
This place is like the DMV with even slower employees.
they take for ever to help, and clerks are rude.
