I found the seats uncomfortable. It's my first time there and I did not like the fact that no one point you to the theatre. They gave the tickets and then ask if u would like snacks. Me and my friends looking around and located the door so it would be good to hand the tickets and say there's the door on the right. And perhaps have someone at that door to the movies. We then return to purchase drinks and popcorn with butter. That was a disaster.....cold and stale popcorn. However, it was a good experience as we never ventured in that part of the city before and the ticket staff was polite, the place was clean .I loved the art work indoors and bathroom was well maintained.

Must have been an off night? There was a technical issue in the middle of the film that meant the projection skipped several crucial minutes. That was bad enough, but I couldn't believe that there was no effort to rewind the film or even address the issue at all. The credit card reader also wasn't working, so it was cash only. I'm still giving 3 stars because it's important that cities have independent theaters like this, and the theater itself is nice and they seem to play good movies - if the projector is working, that is.

Went to the first public screening of "The Urban Economy". While the movie was excellent, there was a technical issue that came up with the projector and the movie screening had to be delayed. On top of that, air circulation in the room was also not present and it made for a very hot screening once the technical problem was resolved. I recommended before each screening to check the operation of the projection and make sure the ambient air temperature is comfortable for Guests beforehand.

A gem I never knew this city had until now! Popcorn, drinks and candy are available for purchase at a reasonable price. A yearly regular membership costs only $25 and reduces regular admission from $10 to $6. The small theatre owned by The Winnipeg Film Group is devoted to screening the very best in Canadian and world cinema. More than just screening films, they also provide artist talks, panel discussions and special events to feed the minds of cinema fans.

I am extremely grateful for the Cinemateque. I'm so glad our city has a theater that screens such a wide variety of worthwhile cinema. Whether it be art or cult, world or Canadian films, Cinemateque always has something worth viewing. Five out of five bags of popcorn! P.s. Thank you for everything Mr. Barber! It will always be appreciated.

Bought a $150 annual pass in the hopes to enjoy some great movies (most specifically the Tuesday night trash cult showings) Only to be told that they are “special events” and we would have to pay again. No where on their site do they qualify Tuesday nights as special events. Will not be supporting them again.

The local gem and my solitude spot (though I do go movies with friends here). Glad we are back to regular programming so I just grabbed the annual unlimited pass. Love the film festivals, special screenings, Cinematheque at Home and workshops provided by Winnipeg Film Group!

I went to see Women Talking with a friend. It was my first time at this theatre. The seating was spacious and plenty of leg room. The staff were very friendly. We didn't have anything from the concession so I can comment on that but the popcorn smelled wonderful

Cool local theatre that shows alternative films. I recommend visiting the Cinematheque for any film buff or person interested in smaller scale films that bring an interesting prospective to contemporary issues. Great prices too! Much cheaper than cineplex.

Love this place. There isn't anywhere else or better to watch indie films, and great support to local and Canadian film industry. Always great films, they host the local film series (such as the Winnipeg Design Festival), and the staff are always great.

Great space! Love the location. I also like that they offer concessions. Most of all, I luv the space. I like tje fact that it us small and intimate. People are very aware of that fact and are very considerate of other patrins. Way to go Cinematheque!

A great venue to watch films! Though it doesn't have fancy recliner chairs or food service to your seat, you can enjoy first run independent films not seen at the mainstream cinemas at a reasonable price. Not many places like this around anymore.

Cinematheque is such a unique spot. If you love moves in any capacity, catching one here should be at the top of your list. Comfortable seating and even a snack bar with a decent selection of treats and drinks. Go Cinematheque!!!

The place to find those good movies that are not available elsewhere. Sometimes recent ones, other times up to decades old. Keep the program for the upcoming weeks handy. Available online or suscribe to receive it in your inbox

  • Aaron Zeghers

The best theatre in Winnipeg and the only local independent theatre! Definitely check this out if your visiting or stop by regularly for the best films in Winnipeg if you live here!

Great little gem of a theatre. $10 shows, get 10 shows for $60. Great variety of films. Cheap student night. Order tickets online and beat the (shared ticket/popcorn) lineup.

Went here on a school trip to watch a documentary about photography. The person in the concessions stand was very nice and accommodating. They show indie films in here too!

Being the only art cinema in Winnipeg, the Winnipeg Cinematheque is an absolutely awesome place to watch art movies, this is my favorite place in the city.

  • Blaine York

Cute little theater, definitely one of the few where the closer to the front are the better seats but always something interesting playing on the screen.

  • Gerald Bruce Hildebrand

This is a small intimate venue that shows unique and interesting films from around the world. It is an artist run centre, worthy of local patronage.

  • Don Porter

Lovely theatre in the exchange district that plays international, indie, weird, offbeat, local, cult and other films that other theatres won't play.

  • John D

  • Adrian Rene Barraza-Luna

Excellent quality! Had the time of my life watching Godzilla vs Hedorah and my childhood favorite film Destroy All Monsters today!!!

  • JohnDavid Pankratz

Small theatre, but the distance between rows of seating was very generous. Felt spacious. And the actors could go-between the rows.

  • Aaron Simcoe

It is a unique Winnipeg experience. The films here are always extremely well done and Cinematheque is great value for your money

  • Gail McGimpsey

Small theater. Sight lines could have been better - either raise the screen or stagger the seats - people's heads in the way.

  • Betty La

Great movies! Good prices, friendly staff. Chairs could use an upgrade, but it's nice that they have sponsor plaques on them.

  • Toby Bartlett

It is a great theatre to see an amazingly curated collection of independent, art house and non-Hollywood films in Winnipeg.
