I had the displeasure of dealing with a manager at David Jones Highpoint yesterday who refused to provide any assistance what so ever. Since my last 3 poor customer experiences at David Jones Bourke St, I have not bought anything from David Jones. A few weeks ago my daughter told me her school shoes had holes on the heals. These shoes were nearly $140 so one would expect them to last a whole school year. Clarks warranty policy states if there are any faults with the outer soles consumers can exchange them within 12 months of purchase. I called David Jones and was told to bring them back at any David Jones store for the shoes to be assessed and if there's a fault they can be exchanged. I told them that I didn't keep the receipt as I bought the shoes months ago. The lady on the phone said it was fine as I'm a DJ member they can see my purchase records. I left the shoes in the car as I didn't want to carry them around whilst shopping. When I explained to the manager what happened her response was, it's wear and tear WITHOUT even seeing the shoes. She also said as per policy she cannot exchange the shoes as I didn't have a receipt. I have my credit card statements to show the purchase transaction and they can see from their records of my purchase as I'm a member. I kept the box showing where it was from and the price paid. She basically refused to assist saying it's their policy and told me they don't keep records of transactions. As a manager she has discretions to make exceptions for different circumstances, but she just flat out refused to assist which I found her attitude to be disgusting. My experience with Myer was the total opposite. When my coffee plunger broke, I called up their help centre as it was still under warranty, they sent out a replacement coffee plunger to me without me even requiring to visit one of their stores. When I was in line earlier yesterday, one of their customers wanted to exchange some clothes which were birthday gifts which they did not have a receipt and Myer allowed them to exchange these items. This is the kind of customer service we expect from a large department store. David Jones NEEDS to learn from Myer in order to IMPROVE their customer service. I no longer support David Jones and will never buy anything from them again. David Jones, you have provided me with service I can remember, BUT NOT in a good way.

Very small for such a well established department store, & the set up was quite disorganised. Only one level with very small sections for the main departments you would expect (mens, womens, shoes, bedding, underwear, cosmetics etc.) The staff were few and far between -!at the change rooms & main customer service area there was a decent number but in each individual section they were hard to find. The exception to this was a lovely staff member by the name of Sue in the lingerie section. She was very helpful without being smothering, and in general an absolute delight to have offered assistance. There was a presence of security throughout who not only roamed the floors but attempted to interact, offering assistance to take you to a checkout even when you were still shopping ( i would have taken offense at the focussed attention, however i did notice it wasn't just me receiving this treatment, it appeared to be anyone else they walked past who weren't engaged with a sales person.) It is understandable why there is a need for the presence of security in the store, but this was too invasive & crossed lines that made one feel very uncomfortable & therefore distracted from the experience.

On a Thursday night shopping with my daughter, who was on crutches with a broken ankle. Thought we would take the best option for a dress and go to DJ'S . The staff were nowhere to be seen. The dressing room with an ambulant change room was closed. When we went into the other change room the young girls in there were very helpful and found a chair to assist. Finally, she chose a dress ($500+). My daughter, who was exhausted, made her way to the exit while I tried to pay. The tap and pay didn't work, so the young assistant behind the counter ( after I had waited approximately 10 minutes to pay) then proceeded to tell me how to set up my phone. I had been to David Jones in the city the day prior and had made a few purchases using my tap and pay, so I was confident it worked. I won't go on with the daughter, but after trying my daughters phone and then. Finally, getting them to try another terminal, and it worked. It was so disappointing that the staff were more interested in chatting amongst themselves or getting ready to finish work. Please DJ'S legs get some service happening!

It was a bad experience at Highpoint. I was told I have to pay and purchase three pairs of clip on earrings that I touched and tried on clipped on my ear by a staff member called Elizabeth. I apologised that I didn’t realise as there was no sign to indicate this. I put the three pairs back on the shelf but she said to me this was the policy and I had to pay for them no matter what while she took these three pairs off the shelves and forced me to pay at the counter. I then spoke with the manager who then let me go assuring me that they would put up the proper signage for this. I felt very uncomfortable as this staff member was very rude and forceful and did not receive any apology despite myself apologising to this staff member.

Tremendously unpleasant experience, promotions tags were displaced in front of wrong hangers and upon questioning, their response is some customer might have done that. I have shown them another hanger stand too, has the same misleading promotion display in front of polo and tees. They just don’t have answers for that. One of the staff even questioned as it’s the customer’s “common sense”, which is highly disrespectful and abusive gesture and tone instead of apologising for their mistake and behaviour, accusing the customer. Highly unprofessional attitude and won’t recommend to anyone…

I went to David Jones Highpoint today and the customer service was non existence. I wanted to return an item that I bought online. After going to 5 counters and being fobbed off, I wound up at customer services. The lady behind the counter could care less and actively tried to dismiss the return. Her body language showed she didn’t wish to help customers and wanted to get back to gossiping. David Jones used to be known for excellent service. It is a shame it’s gone downhill so far and nobody cares. Avoid or go elsewhere.

The worst customer service i have ever seen in my life, went to buy a handbag this Sunday i asked 4 different staff members to unlock a particular bag for me but none of them bother to come and help me even though they were not really busy. I waited there almost 35 minutes and then end up leaving the store. And then i went to Myer to buy where i got THE best customer service even myer staff members were extremely busy. I have decided i will never go back to David Jones Again.

Purchased Sheridan products (linen sheet) $299 September 2020, sheet has completely fallen apart due to poor manufacturing. David Jones refuse to warranty the item. Avoid Sheridan and David Jones. There are higher quality products available for cheaper, which do not fail, and better places to buy quality, rather than the absolute trash David Jones sell. Special mention to Jesse (David Jones Manager) for a rude and condescending attitude. I expect far better.

They don’t have an item in stock that their website says is in stock. Staff advised that Head Office freezes the stock counts before Christmas so that everything that was in stock before Xmas keeps saying it’s in stock after the Boxing Day sales even if it’s sold out. A disgustingly misleading way to operate. These dinosaur department stores deserve to go out of business if this is how they treat customers.

  • Leila shasha

I’m going to be honest here. This store had some of the worst customer service I had seen in a while. One staff had shown an obvious sign of discrimination at me, completely ignoring me and servicing those who came after I did. And when I had attempted to complain, they brushed it aside and hadn’t discussed anything further with her. They should train their employees more throughly. At least there is Myer.

Very good place to buy quality stuff. Specially home decors and perfumes. I was looking for Creed Silver Mountain Water from a long time and was able to get from here. Its a premium store and i am more then agree that they are premium not only because of the quality products they are sell but its more like the exceptional customer service and trained staff they have. I wish i can give them more stars.

I have been trying to get in contact with this store for the past two days… spent 45 minutes yesterday and 30 minutes today being placed on hold, transferred, disconnected, on hold again, disconnected again, etc and still have no answers about whether I can return a product or not. I don’t want to waste my time going all the way down there for nothing. Really disappointed with the lack of service.

I've never written a good google review because good customer services is hard to come by. I spent the whole day shopping for the perfect pillow and the last stop was David Jones, i was greeted by Georgia from Sealy in Manchester. Georgia was amazing help, she was patient and understanding. I haven't experienced such great customer service in years! I love my pillow! Thanks Georgia!

Was in David Jones recently where I experienced great customer service in their bedding department. Purchased an item recently where their main competitor couldn't be bothered to assist me. The staff in this department were extremely helpful, courteous and interested in making a sale. Happy to see their are some retail outlets still providing great customer service.

  • Wei-liang Chen

Terrible customer service. We are trying to get in touch about a faulty product bought using click and collect (parts are missing) and the two options given are SMS - no reply, and live chat, where they make you wait 30 minutes for your turn and automatically log you out. Hilarious. Truly way past its glory days of the 90s - no wonder it got bought out!

A very large, very spacious shopping center that has everything. You will not return home without being loaded with stuff. It has Keymart, Wally's, Coles, and many others. There is a wonderful vegetable market with vegetables and fruits. There is also a maker of house and car keys. He has keys made at a price of ten dollars each.

  • Louise Wardley

Hardly anything priced...so inconvenient and time wasting Very few staff. The only helpful person was the lady at the George Jensen counter and she was so busy unpacking and pricing things but took the time to be helpful and pleasant. If not for the fact i had gift cards to use I would've gone elsewhere. Won't be rushing back.

Bought a garment steamer brand Tefal from David Jones Highpoint. But the steamer was used before and they sold it to me as a new one. Unbelievable how David Jones stealing money from their customers. David Jones, you must return my money and you must come to my place and collect your good. You already wasted my time!

  • Ritu Devi

They are definitely not lying when they say this is the “biggest store.” Such excitement, merchandise, service and beauty. Love every floor, especially now at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Such an amazing person work here In the department for jewellery! I don’t remember the name, but she is very kind and helping. I

First time at David Jones great I found what I wanted .BAD no Service no Staff DJs loss went else where and got same thing cheaper. Don't tell me that thrives cost retail so much what do you expect when no staff and the staff they have don't want to know as not their counter. what a JOKE

  • T E

Difficult to find staff. Empty counters. And when I finally got to enquire about a product that was listed in stock online. They advised me that the online stocktake was not accurate as they freeze the stock numbers in the system before Christmas. Really misleading and time wasting.

  • Pronab Pal

I went there thinking the Target store was still there as advertised ,but no Target not there any more. Got some clothes from Industrie & Glue ,Kmart , enjoyed food court, good tables for charging your laptop / phone on the go. The internet connection was good too. Parking no issue.

  • Allan

Standing here now. No staff. No stock on shelves for fragrances. DJ website says it's in-stock but when someone finally appeared after complaining it's "not their section" couldn't find the item but agreed it's in stock?! I found it online, and $20 cheaper elsewhere.

I recently called into the politix section of the David jones store. I was greeted and professionally helped by Lochlin, he was smart in his attire, very helpful and a pleasure to deal with, carry on the good work Sir. An asset you don’t find very often.

David Jones, in the heart of The Bourke Street Mall, is one of Melbourne's oldest and most respected Department Stores. With 6 floors of top of the range fashions especially for Melbourne Cup etc.. one of the Stores behind Fashion Week in Melbourne.

Love this store! The store is labelled nicely and the staff are amazing!! Especially a big shout out to Alex O who provided kind and friendly customer service when assisting me!!! She is an amazing worker, made the experience worthwhile! Thank you!

  • Brandon P

I came into the store yesterday looking for a candle and the lady named Kally who served me was amazing! I asked her whether they stocked this specific brand and even though she was in a completely different department she still went above

  • Jana F

The store's floor space has reduced considerably which has affected the width of labels on offer. Numerous consignments, most of which are available throughout the shopping centre, so there is no real point of difference. But nice ambience.

  • c y

Elena is terrible! So much for “the customer is always right.” The way she talks to both staff and customers is absolutely appalling! She should not even have a job, let alone a managing position. Gives such a terrible name to David Jones

  • Bob Smith

Not sure if I had been in this particular store previously, but I was pleasantly surprised. Spacious and some good bargains to be found. If you happen to be at Highpoint and walk past it, I would say go in to browse for a few minutes.

  • Pina Golz

Had a delightful customer service experience with Enza and Jess, definitely worthwhile staff for David Jones. Answered all my questions and took several trips to the back to get me exactly what I wanted. Thanks Ladies!

  • Singh Mandeep

Worst customer service, if you ask for help from any staff member they don’t bother to come and help you. David Jones will definitely loose their good customers or need to start working on their employee’s skills.

  • Jess Brown

Bought a pair of shoes and only gave me one but I only realised until I went to my event and only brought 1 shoe never buy from these incompetent sales assistance can’t event check that both shoes are there’

  • Erin K

It's a bit smaller than it used to be, having given up a floor for Kmart. But has a lot of stock and range and seems better and less sad now than it was last time I went there earlier in the year.

  • Ella Scorringe

DJ Highpoint has massively reduced footprint and in turn reduced extended sizing across their brands in store (with exception of Estelle which had a few rare 18-22 across a couple of racks).

  • Hung

I came to collect an online order. The service counter is directly at the other end of the entrance. What a logical layout. Thank you to whoever is responsible for making this decision.

  • Frank T

A store where you'll find a well defined variety of brand clothes, Perfumes for him and her, Cosmetics, Designer Glasses, Shoes, Kitchenware, Bedding, Toys, Books etc, etc.

  • Frances !

Very nice and helpful people working at David Jones. They are much nicer here than at Myer. They know their products and if they don’t know they know who to call.

  • Damian Stawiszynski

Click and collect is a joke. After 1 business day I didn't receive a collection email even though should have been available if placed on same day before 1pm.

  • Cheryle Beales

David Jones was a good place to visit if you want jewelery or a watch, as a good selection of both. Friendly service and good service. I would highly reccom

0 Starr. While there was no one to serve at the register, lazy staff sat in the fitting room chatting. The security guard was obnoxious and aggressive

  • lakhwinder singh

Staff not helpful. Price don’t match. They put for special but when you bought it, it say different price and they say it has wrong tag.
