I am very very disappointed with how the manager or consultant who discuss the options of the treatment with the clients. I came in for the deep cleaning, after the exam and xray and review, they started adding more recommended services whcih they believe it is good for me. So they ended up adding something called the x-ray cleaning for $155.00/ sections, so it will be another $620.00 total into my deep cleaning. They said this is a new and excellent service that I will need to kill bacteria inside or whatsover but the insurance will not cover. I asked them what if I dont want that X-Ray treatment and I just need to do the deep clean like last year, the consultant told me that the dentist required it and he will refuses to do the deep cleaning if I don’t do it all together. I understand the dentist will recommend what is the best for their patients, but I do believe that I will have the right to choose what option is best for me at this point. So I was shock when she confirmed again if you dont do that extra treatment then you can’t get any deep clean service here. The staffs are nice and friendly, dentists are super good but for real, you guys refuse to do my deep clean just because I dont have extra money to add the additional recommendation services ? I dont remember the name of the consultant and I know obsivously she just doing her job but for real this afternoon I leave that place with anger and disappointed. The owner of the clinic need to fix this problem, you guys put the profit and sale on top of the clients interest. These practice can hurt your business in the long run.

Sorry in advance for this novel - I used to be very impressed with this office but am editing my review because of my recent experience. My favorite dentist switched to a new location and though I wanted to stick with her (and was annoyed they did not notify me I'd be seeing someone new until two weeks before my appt), I decided to keep my already scheduled cleaning and make my decision after. They then rescheduled my appointment less than a week out without asking or confirming with me - when I called to get it moved back I was told "the dentist has something else to do" so she couldn't stay late for me. Now I know things happen and we all have lives, but it definitely didn't feel appropriate to have a dental office tell me that as a patient. When I expressed my frustration at how often they attempt to reschedule my appointments, the office manager responded with such attitude I told her to forget it as I was already contemplating switching locations to stick with my usual dentist and I'd just go ahead and do that. The previous office manager was always friendly and this one is just not it. Unfortunately I have nothing to say about the current dentists on staff so I'm leaving this review at an average 3 stars, but I definitely wouldn't recommend this office based on my experience with the office manager alone.

The over the phone impression of this place was perfection. The representative which according to my phone log was named Michelle was amazing she was prompt on constantly sending reminders, updating through phone calls and went out of her way to make sure my moms insurance needs were accommodated making necessary phone calls. Unfortunately we arrived at 7:50 and staff showed a few mins after 8am.. overly staffed but service wasn’t the best. My mother speaks Spanish so I tried accompanying her, but some guy immediately looked over at me and said “I only need her” I explained she only spoke Spanish he didn’t apologize or inform me he spoke Spanish until I arrived to the room and asked if anyone spoke Spanish. Plain rude and not courteous.. plain sad bcus the original staff not front desk was kind and offered us coffee first hand. If running that much labor they should be attentive, no sense of imperativeness. I was told the procedure would take about an hour, passed 9:30 so I approached to ask front desk if everything was ok with my mom, they assured she was done and would be right out. My mom didn’t come out until passed 10 and was totally dumbfounded. Wish this dentistry was everything I imagined it to be. Three stars for now but will update review after results of root canal procedure.

This was by far the worst experience of going to a dentist. I had a filling done, but the dentist didn't have my teeth cleaned first. I had 4 people working on my cleaning after the filling and compared to my other cleaning in other dentists. It appears it was done all backward. The hygienist wasn't the one to do my cleaning. There was a young girl who didn't appear to be a specialist of any kind or even wearing scrubs worked on my teeth. At some point, the dentist said something broke inside my mouth for me to not to swallow, being part of the instrument he used while trying to do part my cleaning, the dentist stated how he had not done a cleaning since med school. My teeth hurt, especially my filling, ever since I went to this place. My teeth didn't appear well cleaned after I left. I have another filling on my tooth that wasn't recommended to be done, and my tooth has a hole on the side that even the doctor said I had but didn't recommend for a filling. I've never felt so scared being at a dentist the way I did on my first and only visited here. I went in only for a cleaning and I was there for 3 hours. I would give it a 0 if I could.

De Zavala Modern Dentistry was a unique experience. I think most of those working there are really competent (the Dr and dental hygienist Brett specifically). I got what I needed and they were very upfront about the plan and all costs. With that said, I think the overall process could be streamlined. I made an appointment for a check up, X-rays and cleaning. They took me back and told me the appointment might take as long as 90 minutes (which is reasonable?) but it took three hours: 1-4 pm. Which represents the loss of the first star. The place smells like a combo of clean dentist office and French fries as they share a wall with Five Guys. The last thing, after I’d already been there for two hours and discussed my teeth with two other providers already, a lady (who never introduced herself) started brushing my teeth asking when my teeth fell out. I’ve never lost a tooth, maybe she was referring to a root canal? Point is, a patient doesn’t need to be critiqued during every moment of a dentist appointment. She clearly didn’t know what she was talking about and should probably stick to her job so as to not offend patients.

The staff here is phenomenal. Even from my first phone call, the front office staff was so kind and welcoming with some of the customer service I’ve ever received. I get very nervous with needles, which is usually something that doctors kind of blow off, but the hygienist (I’m trying so hard to remember her name! It started with an F) was so sweet and even guided me through a few deep breaths to help me relax. Dr. Marie Aston was just as kind and accommodating. They really cared that I was nervous and did a great job of calming me down and letting me take short breaks to breathe. Dr. Alston explained my treatment very clearly and I knew what was going on at all times. The two times I’ve been there, they were very efficient with their time and I got out pretty quickly. At the end of both visits, the front office staff did a GREAT job of thoroughly explaining my charges line by line. I have to go to various doctors somewhat often and this is definitely the place I feel most comfortable. Thank you all so much for all of your hard work!

Shaylan, the dental hygienist, is fantastic. She took her time to show me tips on how to brush my teeth better to get at spots I was missing, and gave me recommendations on toothbrushes and toothpastes specific for my needs. Very kind, personable, and encouraging. My only reason for leaving 4 stars is because of high staff turnover - I’ve only been here for a year and staff seems to have changed a lot, including my dentist. They never even let me know my old dentist had left until I got here for my appointment and said I would be with someone else. The office is clean and everyone has always been very nice. They are always forthcoming about any additional charges, and make sure you sign off on it before getting anything extra done. They are great about rescheduling and appointment reminders, and have Saturday appointments too! Once, my husband and I went in together and dragged the kids along with us. The staff was very friendly and kind about it - they even brought out toys for them to play with!

I love this clinic. They take their time to do a very thorough examination. They are very honest. The Dr takes the proper steps through your care. Dr. Thomas does really care and is upfront. They have multiple specialist within their clinic. I really love this as it makes it very convenient. They have perio,oral surgery,and endodontist. They offer payment options as well which allowed me to get my treatment done. They try and do everything sameday. I truly believe this clinic has been a blessing to me and my family. I finally found a dental home. Don't get them mixed with the other clinic surrounding. They are located next to five guys in the shopping center where the home depot is at. You will not regret it. I worked for multiple dental practices and this by far is the best. Follow their recommendation and you won't regret it. They know what they are talking about. They are very knowledgeable. I usually am a nervous wreck whenever it comes to needing a service for ANYTHING so when I put my faith in someone for assistance & they exceed my expectations, I MUST SHARE MY HAPPINESS. If you’re in search of someone to take care of your dental needs this is the place to be! The modern technology and friendly staff make the visits quick, pain free and fun! Jasmine is very knowledgeable and is amazing at her job! She makes sure the patient’s are her #1 priority. Dr.Thomas does the best work i’ve had by far and best of all it is PAINLESS. She takes time perfecting her work to the patient’s needs and makes sure you leave feeling great about your smile. Brett the hygienist is very gentle and leaves my teeth feeling fresh and clean! The staff is amazing and goes into detail about each procedure to make sure that you are comfortable and understand what is being said. I was really needing to switch dental offices and I am so glad I picked this place!!!! I had to get some dental work done and was super nervous because of my dental anxiety. They made it so much easier for me and really calmed me down. The entire staff was super helpful and nice!!! Dr. Thomas was very patient and gentle with me.. I strongly recommend anyone who is looking to switch to a new office to make the switch to De Zavala Modern Dentistry!!! My new-dentist anxiety was erased thanks to competent, professional, and compassionate staff at De Zavala Modern Dentistry and a beautiful, clean, and welcoming environment with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. I never thought I'd use "happy" and "dentist" in the same sentence! Broken molar led to root canal and new crown. I added extras (cleaning and first-time-ever whitening). Such a great dental office!! I've never had so much fun going to the dentist!! Dr. Fattah is so friendly and you can tell she really cares about her patients. She treats everyone like family. The front desk staff is also very welcoming and the assistant, Deja, is so friendly and accommodating. She did an amazing job taking my xrays and making sure I was okay throughout the appointment. The hygienist Carolyn was so sweet, did an amazing job cleaning my teeth, and provided great oral hygiene education. I highly highly recommend this place and can't wait for my next visit!

I was happy with my office prior, but under new insurance I had to switch and I genuinely could not be happier! After my cleaning I felt like Brett was very thorough and explained to me my further at home follow through. The Dentist was kind and friendly and went through tooth by tooth for a treatment plan. I have major anxiety and the entire staff really put me at ease. They walked me through the entire process and my future plans. I will be moving soon out of state but will be planning my future visits to family to coincide with appointments in the future.

I had a severe tooth ache for which I received a treatment from this dentistry. Despite that I had dental insurance, they submitted a wrong treatment code (Enameloplasty for esthetic reasons) with my insurance insulting in denial from my insurance. They didn't inform me that upfront and charged me $$ for a quick treatment. The total time spent at the dentistry was >2 hours because of some issues in their system. The staff was very nice but they need to be honest in letting you the charge so that you can make informed decisions about getting their services.

They REQUIRE X-rays even if you are pregnant. The front staff misunderstood my question and told me if they received clearance from my OB, I would be excused from an xray because I am pregnant (as it should be.) They said i could come in just for a cleaning. They received clearance and when I went back to see the doctor she told me she required an Xray. She was a bit brash and REFUSED to clean my teeth without an XRAY. I have NEVER been to a dentist office like this one. My husband's first visit took 3 hours for an XRAY and a cleaning. Beware.

I just recently switched from the Stone Oak location to the one on De Zavala. I had a great experience from the moment I entered the building, both Desiree and Marie at the front desk were welcoming and very helpful. The X-ray tech was kind and efficient. Shay, the dental hygienist, and Dr. Alston were clearly very knowledgeable and explained everything in an easy to understand manner. The modern dentistry locations are very transparent about the financial obligations, which I really appreciate.

So I am getting a new grill and needed to get a root canal done. I think to myself what better place then De Zavala Modern Dentistry with Dr Galvan. This Dentist office has an amazing staff, very friendly and knowledgeable to all your dental hygiene needs. Veteran friendly they do work with Tricare and the VA along with many other insurance companies. New patients are welcome they do offer a payment plan in house or finance, how awesome is that?! So come down and get seen for any dental need.

I’m from out of town and my temporary crown broke. I called to see if they could help me and they fit me into their schedule (same day)! I called at 8am and was given an appointment for 9am. From the moment I walked in the staff was very friendly. The dentist, Dr. Marie Alston, was also very friendly. She was very attentive to my situation as well. I felt like I was at my dentist office back home, which I love! If I lived in San Antonio De Zavala Modern Dentistry would be be my dentist!

Very clean facility ! Front desk staff as well as the dentist assistants were nice and knowledgeable of their job. Dentist Melika Fattah was very friendly and made you feel comfortable when in her care and I like that she was very nice to her staff! Wish I could of went through with the procedure that was needed however was a bit expensive and they did try to help out as much as possible but I didn’t feel comfortable opening up lines of credit to receive treatment at the moment.

I really enjoy this dental group. Dr. Alston is top notch and one of the best dentist I have been to. She explains everything thoroughly and made sure I was comfortable at all times. Dr. Ryker did my extraction and he was wonderful too. Shelane was my hygienist and I appreciate how well she did my cleaning. She explained every step and made sure I was pain free. Everyone who works here is friendly, helpful and kind. I would highly recommend this dental group to anyone.

I started coming here last year and I love it, they are very kind and welcoming. Nathaniel is very informable and brakes everything down when it comes to payments. Jasmine is very professional and so good at her job, as well as Dr Thomas. I had got my crown and my wisdom teeth done and the experience was really good. I don't like needles so I always tell doctors to count to three lol but with Dr Thomas she was gentle and quick! I recommend this Dentist.

My Dentist was Marie Alston. She was very detailed and thorough with her exams and detailing of my teeth. The staff was all very friendly and the office is very clean! The wait time in between initial X-rays and my actual cleaning was a little longer than anticipated but nothing at all deserving of complaint or confrontation. As a first time patient, I am very pleased to have found a new dentist who I feel comfortable with my continued care.

Always get a second opinion after going to these people. Doc told me I’ll need a crown in 6 months (so we’re going to wait till I “need” to have one of the most expensive procedures done??) she told me it was bc my tooth had 50% filling… well as a former RDA I know it can be up to 70/80% filling and be fine, but instead of trying to help they rather waste 6 months and bill me $3k. You’re better of going to the dental school down the street.

Switched to this office due to getting new dental insurance. The office team was very friendly and helpful. Office itself is brand new so it is very clean! I was seen in a very timely manner and Dr. Morchat was great! I had some questions in particular to whitening and a nightguard and plenty of options were presented to me without a "pushy" sales approach from the team. Great office, highly recommend!

I always enjoy the service I receive at De Zavala modern dentistry. Whether I am there for a cleaning or another procedure, I always feel like my questions are answered professionally and in a way that I can understand. Lastly, I always feel like the doctors and staff in general take time to build a good rapport which helps me feel more comfortable when they are doing work on my teeth

I love this office. I really haven't done a great job keeping up with dental visits, flossing etc. I'm petrified of the dentist chair. A white knuckle flyer. However, this office is great. A doctor's staff can make or break a practice. The staff here makes the practice. The entire staff is kind, knowledgeable and welcoming. I no longer fear the dentist which is great progress for me.

Do not come here!! After I paid over $1000 with CareCredit and my insurance I got billed $650 dollars and it went to collections right away before I got to contact them about it. I called multiple times and the “billing” person is never in. They show that I paid in full so why am I continuing to get a bill from you guys!! Horrible customer service. Never ever will I be back here!

Just wow! This is probably the best dental office I have ever been to. Not only is it affordable, they literally break down every step that you need to get a beautiful smile. Everyone in the clinic is so knowledgeable and friendly. I don’t see myself going to any other dentist any time soon. And no, this is not a paid advertisement they are just really that good!

Staff has always been friendly! Really helpful and respectful. Even have conversation and try to get to know you which I really appreciated. I felt like I was taken care of this past time I came here. Also, I thought it was super cool how they offered the fluoride for free if I did a survey. Struggling with money right now so it was super helpful.

I went for an exam and to have my teeth cleaned. Was there for 2 hours. They tried to sell me the most expensive aesthetic teeth crowns for the back of my mouth, gave me no less expensive options, and said I had to sign a form agreeing to over $3000 worth of dental care before they would clean my teeth. I left- will never go there again.

Absolutely the best dentist visit ever! The staff is knowledgeable, courteous & friendly. When you leave, you leave with a complete plan to take care of your teeth/ oral hygiene. You also know they are with you every step of the way with the best treatment & care for your oral hygiene. It's truly affordable dental care for any budget!

Dr. Morchat is fantastic - she definitely knows her stuff. The staff is also really nice and friendly. This office is brand new and you can tell that they use the latest and greatest technology. The office was also spotless, I appreciate a clean office. I believe they accept many insurance providers as well. I would highly recommend.

absolutely horrible and disorganized appointment was at 11am for wisdom tooth extraction and at 11:50am they decided to inform us that we would have to wait another 20-30 minutes. We had been waiting in the building since 10:40 and they took no action on their own to inform my family about the delays.

A myriad of reasons but over our collective visits here, my husband and I have left consistently disappointed. One of the male hygienists is particularly rough when cleaning, Dr. Thomas did not impress (we did like Dr. Alston) and the appointments always take entirely too long. Time to move on.

Hands down one of the best dental teams Ive been to. They are really awesome. I had a fractured tooth and they addressed my issue the same day. They are nice, fun, caring and professional. I’m actually excited to see them again. Just amazing people. I highly recommend giving them a try.

This is my first time to this clinic, and I have a good experience at here. Dr. Alston, Brett (hygienist), Lizzely (dental assistant) and all the staff are friendly and awesome. They are very thorough and take time to explain to me what treatments are recommended and/or needed.

Current procedures include wisdom tooth removal and 7 implants so far they have been great and professional with a touch of hospitality with great in hous financing . Doctor Cockrell and his staff along with Nathan in accounting have been extremely informative and helpful.

Easy to make appts and check-in, accepts my Aetna insurance, not too busy, pretty affordable, and really close by. The staff take care to explain to me everything thats going on before they do it and don’t pressure you for optional procedures.

I really enjoyed my visit to De Zavala Modern Dentistry. The front desk, periodontist, dentist and office admin make an awesome team. All the staff took time to explain procedures and made me feel comfortable during my first visit.

Everyone from the front desk all the way to the doctor was incredibly friendly and helpful. I like that they go over pricing with you before they do any additional services. Will absolutely be coming back to them for future visits!
