She is super sweet, always smiling, and busts her butt, plus she knows how to handle the after the bar crowd...and since she's open 24 hours on weekends she and her amazing staff have their hands full. It's great for a middle of the night dinner/breakfast AND a show! The people eating there range from the cutesie family, to the drunk and disorderly, but the local police look out for them and stop anything before it gets out of hand. So back to the food! The coffee is always fresh, strong and hot as is the food from over easy eggs to chicken fried steak, anything they put in front of you is yummy! Everyone that works there is always cheerful, and helpful hardly using a ticket to write orders down....great memories! They all are efficient at everything they do, even if you're not their table.... I love eating there and go at least 4 times a month, and these people work hard! They have a framed menu from 1950ish maybe and the prices aren't to much more than they were back then. So remember that when you go to pay your bill, you can make up for the great value with a huge, well deserved tip! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! We love ya!

Growing up in southern Utah, I never got to experience the legendary mediocrity that is Dee’s Family Restaurant. Once I moved up to Salt Lake, I was captured by their retro signage and old-school diner vibes. So, needless to say, I was excited to come here. It definitely lived up to my expectations. Extremely meh, very mediocre, and incredibly “just fine.” I say this with love. I’m not bagging on the restaurant. It is exactly what it portrays itself to be – a kinda trashy diner. I ordered a Griddle Combo with Pancakes, Eggs, and Bacon. The pancakes were fine, as were the eggs. The bacon was so burnt it tasted like a grease fire. My wife got a Strawberry Banana Crepe combo with Hash Browns, Bacon, Eggs, and Sausage. She described her meal in a very similar way to the way I described mine. Just very “meh.” Exactly what the chef ordered.

I went there the other night after work for dinner and they were closing early in order to fix some stuff for the next day. Which was totally fine for me I can hurry and eat and leave so they can close and fix what they need to and be ready for the next day I ordered my dinner and Pepsi and few minutes later it was bought out to me. Food was pretty good but the service of the waitress was horrible never once she came to my table to ask how my food was tasting or if I needed a refill I had to finally ask the hostess for a refill and she bought it to me. I tried getting the waitress attention so I could get my bill and pay for it and go home the attempt failed a few times I finally went up to the hostess because the waitress was ethier busy at other tables with other customers or busy cleaning the other side of the dining room. I usually get really good service there but that night I didn't let's just say I didn't leave her that good of a tip. Which I usually do at restaurants. I definitely won't go again at that time of night especially when I will get ignored.

Stopped here in desperate need of a delicious meal after several disappointing stops along our several day road trip. This place was beyond just good — some of the best diner food we’ve ever had! The reviews saying the food is the expected mediocre had me anticipating an average meal, but I’d say this place goes beyond average diner food. I got the French dip with onion rings and it may have been the best French dip I’ve had. The meat was not dry nor too fatty and the onion rings are the thick crunchy kind and were cooked to perfection. My boyfriend got the teriyaki burger with bacon and ate every bite. The curly fries are well-seasoned and crispy on the outside but soft in the inside. Lastly, despite our server having 8 tables (at least from what we could see, she may have had more on the other side), she was very attentive and did not mess up a bit. Good service is honestly very hard to come by these days, and as a former worker in the industry I know how it can be. First time in a while I felt compelled to tip beyond the standard 20% because of how great both the food and service were. Will definitely be back whenever we are back in SLC!

Wait what? It said chicken fried steak. When we asked where it was after repeated knife stick search efforts, we were advised the half patty can be difficult to locate within the hash browns and vat of gravy. Front of house staff were very kind in offering another option and the chosen cheeseburger arrived cheeseless with a disproportionate onion garnish. Decaf may not have been... Will update in two hours. No actual cream was provided though plentiful flavored creamers were served. The breakfast crepes, typically served warm had a surprising but refreshing chill to them. The strawberry topping, typically served as a warm compute, was even colder still. The banana cream pie contained all the required ingredients but lacked core strength for proper plate posture. Ample yet stale whipped cream provided vague structural integrity to the once flaky but presently foundation lacking crust which had shifted to the side of the pie rendering the pudding like filling to rest in direct contact with the cold naked plate. Wait staff were friendly but demoralized by lack of quality from the kitchen staff. The experience of writing this review far exceeded the pleasure associated with the actual dining experience.

Things I like: - Great service. My friends and I come here occasionally to draw and chat, and the staff are always super friendly. It seems they hire a lot of young people, and I think this brings a nice energy to the regular sleepy atmosphere that most diners have. - Great atmosphere. I think the atmosphere is mostly what you'd expect. It's a diner and it gives diner vibes, but there are also some unique drawings on the wall, and I appreciate these pieces of individuality. Like I mentioned before, it seems they hire a lot of young people and I think it adds just enough energy to the place. Overall, it's a comfortable place to be. Things I dislike: It's hard to say if I truly dislike anything about this place. I don't think most people come into a Dee's and expect a Michelin experience, so I really can't complain. The food is fine, the coffee is fine, and the desserts are fine. You get exactly what you pay for, which is to say you pay 10-15 dollars for a meal and you're getting a 10-15 dollar meal.

It's not every time but the male server he wouldn't bring us coffee, or sour cream or wait on us, im sorry, but when I'm spending 70 dollars, I do expect to be waited on I only got 1 cup of coffee during my meal i waited because I wanted another but he put the check on the table and that was it. My 80 year old friend had to get up and go look for him to get service. We were not the only ones feeling annoyed. We are going somewhere else now and we were going there every week.

When I parked, someone blocked us so we couldn't get our wheelchair up to the car. We had to back up because of the person who parked on the stripes. No parking area, We tried to talk to someone at the front about it, but they didn't do anything about it.

One of the few breakfast places that's open early. It's got a retro diner feel inside and the staff are all great. Food is good for the price, big menu with lots to chose from. I prefer this location to taylorsville, it's cleaner and the service is slightly superior. Have been coming back to dee's for breakfast and lunch and what I'll say is this: sandwhiches/burgers are the way to go. The breakfast food at dee's is just alright, not bad but not incredible. For the same price as breakfast you can get a delicious sandwhich with fries and fry sauce included! The sandwhiches are all so tasty and filling and a much better bang for your buck compared to the breakfast options.

Best food with great customer service. They remember me from my last two visit! I go in and order the 2 DEE Cheeseburger with fries very delicious recommend it! All to go and I ordered a world famous scones definitely recommend ordering Scones during breakfast or for a dessert the Scones have a dipping honey butter sauce delicious! Honestly we usually go to the one by redwood rd it's our favorite. We tried this location because it was close by and we won't be coming back honestly. We ordered the lumberjack breakfast and everything was good except we noticed the hash brown's were burned and undercooked. We asked the server if they could give us a new batch because they didn't taste or look good. We received the second batch and that one was just undercooked we gave up. It felt like the cook did it out of spit. The server changed her attitude with us and like 10 minutes later after receiving our food we're asked if we were ready for dessert or the check. Yeah it's just sad that you can't give an opinion now a days even as the customer. The reason I'm giving 3 stars was because the rest of the food was good.

I had the ham and cheese omelette with a waffle and sugar free syrup, my wife had the strawberry cream cheese crepes with 2 eggs and hasbrowns. All of it was hot, tasty and filling. The crepes were light and creamy, the hash browns were hot, crispy, and had a good flavor. The wife's over medium eggs were cooked perfectly. The waffle was light, airy, and crispy. The omelette was stuffed and cooked well. It tasted wonderful. We had water and unsweetened ice tea to drink. Tina was a great waitress, she got us sugar free syrup when she found out we were diabetic. She was very attentive to all her diners even though it was busy.

Classic American diner. Traditional Americana food and atmosphere. Simple. Friendly. Clean. Efficient. Homestyle cooking. Absolutely wonderful. Delicious standard American dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner anytime of the day. Had the cowboy breakfast and my wife had the crepes combo breakfast. Cowboy breakfast was perfect, hash browns, sourdough toast and thick grilled ham topped with sausage, thick bacon, 3 eggs, and country gravy. All with a scone (or pancakes) on the side. It was fantastic. Our server was awesome too, so friendly. My wife had ordered a chicken meal that wasn't exactly what she thought it would be, it was cooked and served great, she was just expecting something a little different from the menu description. They let her order something new, no fuss, no hassle, no questions, and got her the new order quick as lightning. Love Dee's! We'll be back.

Wow the waiter Mo was beyond amazing. You can tell he have been doing this for some time. I watch him literally take a table order, then switch to other table got their drinks and made sure to bring the powder sugar I asked for. I was expecting him to forget it and he got the drink refills for us. This place was so jammed packed they had people waiting outside to get in. Restaurants needs more waiters like him. The food was good, I'm surprised they actually gave real veggies that looked fresh not from a can like the previous place we ate at yesterday. The food is way too much of a portion, I couldn't eat all it and kinda felt bad so much was going to waste. You definitely get more than what you pay for here. The french toast was pretty, the coffee was hot and the bacon crispy. Too bad my kids never eat the leftovers.

Dee’s is a classic hometown diner style restaurant that has solid breakfast food. There isn’t anything about this place that particularly stands out besides it’s retro styled interior but if you’re in the mood for a reasonably priced breakfast I’d recommend stopping in. If you’re from out of town the building is facing the Wasatch Mountain Range so if you grab a booth in the front the views contribute to a relaxing morning. (Hopefully with a crisp cup of coffee). I’ve ordered pretty much every breakfast item on the menu and the only dish I wouldn’t recommend is the Biscuits and Gravy. I will be back. Thanks for whipping up a delicious meal.

Came in here a week ago, our server was that black gentleman I believe his name is Ibrahim, He was awesome super friendly. I'm pretty typical when I order here which is the crepes. This time I tried The blueberry. Delish. I feel like my life gets a little bit better every time I eat crepes My dad used to serve them to me when I was younger and these is the one restaurant that they kind of tastes similar to my dad's. Again my tastes are always different than everybody else's but I come back to this place regularly. And I always tip like between 30 and 50%. How can you not with breakfast being that cheap.

Dee’s is a staple local gem in SLC. If you’re a real local you’ve eaten at one of their stops at least once. It has the 70’s family diner vibe. The staff is definitely up to date with their uniforms, hip, and friendly. When it comes to food this place has the Classic American diner menu. They start off slamming with a really great variety of breakfast options. They serve breakfast all day. I normally like to go here when I’m craving some cheese fries or a good cheeseburger. Their chef salad is also good. The dessert menu has a great brownie sundae and their homemade pie is good too.

I was traveling thru Salt Lake City and I was looking for some good home cooked type food. After reading about this restaurant and scrolling through the reviews I thought this would be a good place... I ordered the chicken fried steak, it cost over $15 and not a single part of the meal was home cooked. The food was below par, maybe a step above McDonald's. For the price, I expected better quality food. If you enjoy instant "EVERYTHING" you may like this place. Personally, I won't be eating there again.

Best diner I’ve been to in my entire life! Britney was very experienced and friendly, and the atmosphere was great. I’m very picky with my strawberry milkshakes, and theirs checked all the boxes, best milkshake I’ve ever had! Got the spinach and feta omelette and it was so good, plus the scone that looked more like a giant donut but was very good as well. Biscuits and gravy was mediocre, but everything else was so good! If I’m ever back in Salt Lake City, I know exactly where I’m going to eat!

This Dee's Restaurant is exceptional to say the least. I am able to eat here once a month or so and I am always well pleased. First the place is always neat and tidy, and very clean. I have never had any of the wait staff come to the table without a smile on their face and a genuine cheery disposition. Finally the menu is extensive with all the homemade comfort foods you could ask for. And the coffee keeps coming before you ever have to ask. And the food is delicious! So don't hesitate to stop here for a great meal. You will be well taken care of.

Very glad to find this hidden gem in the heart of Salt Lake City.   The staff was awesome,  friendly and attentive.   We tried the Wisconsin Cheese soup and it is the best I've ever had,  and we lived in WI for 13 years!  We both had burgers and they had that just right taste a diner burger is suppose to have.   Got a piece of coconut cream pie  to go, and oh my it was "terrific!"  Can't say enough for the family friendly atmosphere we experienced there. Highly recommend!

It was a very hot day when we visited this past Saturday, from the second we stepped into that cool, refreshing restaurant until the dreaded moment we had to leave, everyone was super friendly, kind and considerate. I got a garden hashbrown platter dish, it was all very oily and I couldn't finish it because it made me feel sick, the waitor was nice but a little too present. I got sweetened iced tea, which u do not recommend, it was as opaque as orange juice, couldn't even see the ice cubes through the glass, and tasted like pure 0 calorie sweetener.

I wasn't sure about this place as we drove up (an old building, little rundown). I'm glad we stayed, the food was really good! And the service was excellent! Our waitress really was outstanding. Don't be afraid to give it a try.

I ordered a Coconut Cream Pie and their credit card system went down. I was in a hurry (my fault) running errands. The Manager came right out and trying to solve their card problem. She called the CC company to get this problem resolved. This was resolved quickly and I really appreciated her prompt response. Thank you so much!❤️

The restaurant and staff were great. But the management is not great they had me arrested for going into the abandoned half demolished old DEES offices that were at 2100 south and 777 east. What was wrong with me videoing and seeing the building before it was demolished and gone forever???!! And management pressed charges of burglary for being in their building are you kidding me.

I was impressed with my dining experience. From the outside, which looks like a dilapidated, abandoned restaurant from the 70's, I was surprised they were even open. They were packed! The service was great! The food was good. I was impressed!

We love going to Dee's. The staff is always welcoming, and we've become regulars getting to know the staff on a first name basis. Good diner fare, and they never get my eggs wrong...can't say enough good things about this place!!

We had the senior dinners and they were delicious. It was cold outside and the potatoes and gravy tasted with the salmon was especially good. I had all the vegetables I wanted (I love vegetables.) The waitress was helpful and cheerful. We had a nice dinner that I didn't have to cook.

I love diners, and Dee's feels like a throwback to my youth. We shared an ENORMOUS hot fudge sundae and coconut cream pie...dessert for breakfast following an early tee time. Service prompt and friendly. Food is always good.

It's amazing. Me and my grandparents go here all the time. I always get the omelettes. This one I believe was the Spanish omelette. Amazing food. There has never been time that I have been and had a bad experience. I highly recommend!! Great food for great prices! ❤️

2 weeks ago I posted a 1 star review. To me service is paramount and the glue that holds together any restaurant. Our waitress Brittany was attentive, accommodating, and friendly. The cheese fries came out quickly as an early appetizer to our Griddle combo, Turkey dinner, and California omelet entrees! The food was fresh and delicious! Kudos.

Enjoyed some sandwiches for dinner. Atmosphere was good, food was affordable, and in general it was an pleasant experience. One point of substantial improvement could be the sweet potato fries, which were fine, but could have been amazing with a little more crunch.

If you need a late night snack, here is where to come! The staff here knows us by name and is always so generous. We are greeted with a smile and if one of our regular servers isn’t serving us that night they will still come over and say hi. It’s especially helpful when we work super late nights to have a place to sit down. We love it here!

Zach is a sparkly, sparkly gem. He always takes amazing care of us and is so dedicated to what he does. Dee’s is our home away from home.

Dee's is everything you want in a diner. Pancakes, omlettes, burgers, salads, sandwiches, etc. Reasonably priced comfort food. Also, the fried pickles are surprisingly good!

Great service. They were super busy, so it was a bit of a wait. But not bad. Food was fantastic. Felt home cooke, which is amazing. Definitely the old time diner ambiance. Will come here again.

Always a family favorite since my early childhood. I love the newest menu. Sadly I've moved away. The president used to be a friend of mine. I know it's out of fashion these days but I so miss the fried pies and Hostess is back in business.

What a fantastic place to eat. Food is really good. The servers are fantastic and respectful but My family and I had a bad experience with the cashier. Today 04/30/2023 at 11:01am when she took our check, she was very disgusting, disrespectful and throw our debit card to us on the table.

Nice employees! Old school dinner food! Very delightful portions! Its always a go to place for or family and friends! Everyone remembers you if you come back enough haha I come back enough once they see us they know what we order! Mmmm the milkshakes they bring this boy too dees haha!

If you are looking for a friendly place with good food Dee's is a great place to go. It was busy but food still came quick and wait staff was very nice.

What a fabulous place! The decor was "dinner" style. Very clean. The price was very reasonable. The food was delicious.. The staff were okay. The guy who was out server wasn't the most friendly, but wasn't horrible. We came here based on the Google reviews and are glad we did!

dees is the best restaurant this dude if the mississippi. i might drive the four hours just to go there.

Went in for breakfast with granddaughter waited 30 min for service and was ignored. The host seated us and got drinks wait staff never got order. She was to busy talking with friends. We left and went to McDonald's.

Whoever cooked my breakfast this morning did an outstanding job. Especially the hashbrowns. Only thing lacking was the lack of service I got from my waiter. I also wish they would change from plastic coffee cups to real cups. I don't like drinking out of plastic.

I try to eat here everytime I come to salt lake. This place is very filling and the wait staff is great as well. I had the chicken fried steak breakfast. The gravy is to die for.

Good food with helpful service. The waiter was very attentive and checked in on us. He offered us fry sauce along with ketchup for the fries. Man it was good. A place worth heading back to next time in Salt Lake City.
