!!!DO NOT USE THIS GYM COMPANY!!! My husband and I signed up for a membership with Defined Fitness about 2 years ago. In the fall of 2021, I physically went to the Bosque location to cancel our memberships. I spoke with a girl at the front desk who advised me I could avoid paying the cancellation fee and freeze my account until January 2022, then I'd have to call and cancel the memberships in January to avoid being charged monthly. I paid $40 to freeze the accounts. January rolls around, I call to cancel the membership, I spoke with a general manager named Anthony. He advised that he would send over the paperwork for cancellation. I checked my inbox and spam folders everyday and received nothing. I called again when they charged me for the 2 memberships. I advised that I was supposed to receive cancellation paperwork and never did, which was on purpose, I'm sure. I was charged again in February and March. I spoke with the same manager, Anthony, he acted as if he didn't remember that we had spoken. I told him I wanted a refund for the months I had been charged for, as I had been trying to cancel our memberships since JANUARY! He advised that I had to pay $75 to cancel the memberships and that he AGAIN would send me the cancellation paperwork. So, I have to pay $75 because you don't know how to train your employees to do their jobs properly? Okay? I pay the $75 (which was worth it to me to be done with this garbage company.) I'm told I will receive cancellation paperwork again, never got it. I am charged AGAIN this month for the memberships I just paid $75 to cancel. I finally spoke with a competent manager named Glen, who refunded me for April and sent me an email that served as a cancellation confirmation. This company is training scam artists, BEWARE!! If you have had a similar experience at ANY of these locations, PLEASE report them to the BBB!
I've been a member now for 5ish years. I can honestly say up until now I've been completely satisfied with this gym. And my only complaint is with the bosque club location. All the others I occasionally go to, I don't have any complaints. As I frequent the bosque club the most. I can honestly say I'm fed up. They have out grown themselves as far as membership goes.( which I know isn't bad as a business.) But it makes the customer experience terrible. My main issue is. It seems like half of their equipment is broken and never gets fixed. It's one of the older locations and the equipment shows its age. Combine broken equipment and overcrowding means about three times a week I cannot finish a complete workout. And I have spoken with other members with the same experience. Bosque please renovate and update your facility, equipment, and layout so that we can all enjoy our membership. I'm now getting a second membership to another gym to help elevate some of these issues for myself.
Clean with an amazing layout of equipment but attracts a lot of “influencers.” You might be in the background of some of their videos and photos so if that’s something you’re not okay with then please consider that before signing the binding contract. The gym can get very busy at times but if you keep your head down, mind your own business, and naturally focus on your workouts as you should you will have a great workout and experience. It does have a lot of great amenities to offer. I loved the interior design which provided a relaxing experience during each workout :) Would have loved to give it the full 5 stars but the cancellation nightmare stories are unfortunately true. It took me three months with consistent follow up emails, calls, and even a certified letter (that was returned) to completely cancel. A friendly recommendation would be to cancel at least 2-3 months in advance if you relocate or switch gyms.
Decent gym overall and been going there for a year. Like all gyms, machine availability is very dependent on the time you go. I haven't used the hot tub/pool, but the on floor weights/machines are good. A year ago I signed up for a Physical Trainer and have had several in the past. Some of them are hit or miss on getting your goals. If you go to Bosque, I would very much recommend Caleb Henning as a PT. He has a great energy, clearly enjoys fitness and brings that to each session. Has a great knowledge base and will help you get to your goals. When I started with him, I was a little overweight and very out of shape. He helped me get into shape, lose 20lbs, and then gain it all back in muscle. I've never been as in-shape or muscular as I am right now, just due to his training.
The roof needs repairs, always leaking, fans and pipping are covered in gross dust bunnies, women’s locker room ceiling is falling apart and they never clean the showers or the curtains. I workout 6/7 days a week. It’s sad if abq had better competition maybe it would motivate the owners to invest in renovating their current locations vs throwing money into new ones while the old ones just run themselves into the ground. Front desk can barely take 2 seconds to look up from their phones to greet you. Not worth the monthly dues but not many options in abq. The response is always the same generic script. They can’t even be real about addressing feedback, but brush it off instead of put action behind their intentions to create a good environment.
Enjoyed going to this gym the short period of time I was in Albuquerque. When I signed up I told them that I would go to Arizona at times for work and be there for months at one time. They told me I was allowed to freeze my account when I left and I would only be charged $10. Well fast forward I’ve been gone three months and I get a charge of $150 and called to dispute the transaction. I told them and made them aware when I was leaving and now they tell me there’s no way to tell when I froze my account, but that it was just showing one month ago and there was nothing to do about the $150 transaction. I will be canceling my membership and advising others to go elsewhere. No consideration or remorse for their wrong doing. Shame on them.
I thought this gym was okay, definitely better than Chuze, but had some issues with it. Then I checked the reviews on this place and immediately changed my mind about getting a membership here. Pros: Spacey, decent locker room, plenty of equipment, 2/5 amenities work. Cons: Showers don't work half the time, Jacuzzi is not filled with enough water to touch your chest, steam room is used as a storage room while having no signs of being out of order, showers look like they're straight out of a horror movie, and based on my and others' experience, the staff and person overseeing the Google reviews doesn't seem too interested in any feedback given about this gym. Go elsewhere!
This gym has so much potential but needs new management or management needs to step it up. The machines are always broken down. For weeks at a time. Leg Day is not too great here. I have to go somewhere else on leg days. No air-conditioning. We pay all this money for our membership, plus annual feed, and they can't even give us AC. I'm definitely ready to cancel my membership and my kids' membership. and suggest all my friends to do the same. So we can go to a gym that actually takes care of their members and have more to offer for the same price or less
I went last Saturday and I went to the wet area where the whirlpool only had one jet working. The sauna wasn't hot. Where is the quality control at this gym? With the new gyms in town that have working saunas and whirlpools I can't understand the mediocre upkeep of equipment! There is now competition for memberships! I guess this is good enough for some members but not for me. Years ago when the steam room was working the place was busy. Now it's like nobody cares to keep the equipment working correctly.
Overcharges! I have been trying to contact corporate because of this matter. They have charged me multiple times 118.00 monthly. I been in the facility many times to talk to the manager and still nothing has happened. Since December until now. I have attempted to email, call corporate, left many voicemails and have been in the gym to get some answers! I would not waste your time here, if they aren't willing to help you.
I have just joined this facility, and I cannot say enough about the professionalism and friendliness of the community and staff there. Beginning work with the personal training department, I am now convinced that everyone needs a personal trainer! Again their attentiveness and professionalism are exceptional. Truly friendly front counter staff, genuine kindness, and a welcoming feeling throughout the community.
I am very disappointed in Defined Fitness. The club itself is clean, great classes, and friendly staff; however, they send you all sorts of emails, texts, and notifications about their activities, but they do not bother sending you anything about your membership about to expire so you have a chance to go to a club to renew before the expiration date (no, you can't renew online).
Went to see about membership and my roommate bought one at a good price for month of July 4.00$ and after reg.price. I have a silver sneaker card so I didn't have to pay for mine which is very awesome. As far as the employees very helpful, friendly, outgoing, well respected answered everything question and in between.very informative. you all rock!! Thanks..❤
Defined Fitness is usually an amazing gym. However, this locations amenities barely work. Half of their stair steppers have been down for more than a year, it took them more than 6 months to get the only hip thrust machine to start working again, and much more. It would be a lot easier to get machines when it’s crowded if the machines just worked.
I have not had a good experience at this gym. I use the pool and go to classes. The water used to be fine. I have gone home 3 weeks in a row because the water is unbearably cold. I talked to the general manager and he just blew me off. He was rude and condescending. I will be looking for another gym.
The equipment here is fairly nice and they have as much as they can fit in a location this size. The staff is nice and so were the other members. However this location needs a top to bottom deep clean. It isn't overly dirty or gross but it certainly has the smell indicative of needing a deep clean.
Wish they would fix their leaking roof water drips from almost every skylight. Fix their broken sauna door and maybe put a thermometer in the sauna so we could see how warm it is in there. From time to time it doesn’t seem like it’s hot just warm. Other than that it’s a nice gym.
they have terrible rude lazy staff water machine has been broken for three months well mostly all of the machines are broken bathrooms have poop and blood. I’d definitely recommend chuze or planet fitness for half the price! can take guests for free! …
Disappointed... Not what it used to be for sure. I recently re-joined. Glad to be back at the gym. However i signed up for two main reasons. One the kids club. Me and my wife used this gym for awhile. When she signed up, with our kid. After
This gym is close by, and I was interested in personal training. I also thought it might be less packed than other places. It turned out that being unable to get to a machine was a common issue (often b/c they allow members to "hold" 3 or 4
This place is an absolute disaster. It is so moist inside that the floors are slippery, and there are puddles of water everywhere. The equipment is so disgusting and dirty, the bathrooms are filthy, musty, and moldy. There used to be staff
I don't go to this gym as much as I used to. I've been a long time member that signed up when the club opened its first gym. Ive noticed big changes some good others mind boggling. My wife and I used to go in Sundays and workout and
Do not give this club your actual credit or debit card. I visited the club for a day pass and was charged the membership fee as well. I have been calling for over a month to get my money refunded. I am still waiting. Horrible.
Not 1 shower worked in the locker rooms and the 2 they have in the wet area were torn apart. Had I seen a sign they were out of order I would not have stayed as I go to swim and need to rinse the chlorine off of me
The Staff are Super dedicated, and take their job seriously. They’re always cleaning which is awesome! & They helped me get my AirPod out of the stair master (x super thankful I didn’t have to buy a 3rd pair !!
Bosque has really changed. Super clean water at the right temperature. Everything has turned around at this location. The water is excellent and the equipment is all working. …
New locations are being built while old locations seem to be neglected. The bosque club locker room needs major improvements, especially the showers which are gross and hardly work.
As a chain in New Mexico, they aren’t bad…..this location…aweful …. almost all the equipment is broken or in need of some repair.
Pros: The gym itself is spacious and fairly clean. The front desk folks are friendly
Great staff, well managed and operated location. Highly recommended. Ask for Selena !
