Known locally as “the café as funny as it’s eggs are runny” this humble glass-fronted deceivingly high-quality cafe has more going for it than all the brunch spots in South London combined. It’s just plain authentic! But not authentically plain. The owner/chef is a beaming smile on legs with a talent for frying eggs. The co-owner has more than just a twinkle in her eye - always first to the punchline and simultaneously as professionally efficient as Google Search. Don’t come here expecting superficial snacks or inflated prices to justify the ego of the dishes - visit for an truly excellent feel-good breakfast, a slow afternoon lunch with a friend, or a brief coffee served with fresh humour and a side of friendliness. Do not be deceived by its branding and strange enormous black and white photographic decor - the real cafe is not to be looked at, but tasted and felt. There’s a reason they have so many regular customers, and I can’t help feeling they deserve more. Nowhere in London feels more genuinely welcoming, and I’ve been to my fair share of dog-sitters’ homes.

Me and my family just love this cafe so much. Both owners are so friendly, always say hi to me when I walk pass with my dog, and even their two young sons say hi when I pass them in the street, the food is really lovely and so are the drinks. My son gets so excited going to deja brew for food and also his little biscuit they always give him when we leave. It’s a true blessing to have somewhere like this on our doorstep. We much prefer giving our money to deja brew than a chain.

Best breakfast in Brockley. I walked past this cafe so many times and today I decided to give it a try, I am glad I did, this is my new favourite place. The staff are friendly and the lady was helpful with suggestions, I love scrambled eggs but I'm wary of eating these outside my kitchen, these were hands down the BEST scrambled eggs I have ever had, no exaggeration. They were properly seasoned I've never EVER had that experience I usually have to add salt pepper myself. The mushrooms were the real deal and the sausage was lovely, everything on the plate was fabulous, I tried the chef's pepper sauce another thumbs up, I won't need Tabasco in future. Good value for money, friendly, helpful staff and good food, it's a win win.

I love Deja Brew. I've eaten in as a casual punter, and the service is always quick and friendly, and the food is delicious! More recently however, I have used Deja Brew twice as caterers for two film shoots. Their service was outstanding. They had large orders ready to go on time, dealt with last minute orders changes efficiently and with no fuss, and even delivered one day's order to the location free of charge! Most importantly, everyone on set (with a variety of dietary requirements) loved the food. Thank you Sylvia, I'll be back again soon!

Forget 5 stars, if I could hit the golden buzzer on this place, I would. Chef nails it every time, and the waitresses are very attentive and polite. The food is real, which I know as chef now has me addicted to Spinach! Whereas spinach and Avocado were not really my thing! The eggs are real and well worth a try. If you like pepper sauce, then ask for it when you go, but proceed with caution, if you are not used to pepper This is one of my fave spots, that I should not be sharing as it could risk my space

You just won't get a breakfast in South East London! My children have ballet classes nearby at different times on a Saturday morning , so we come here every week. The milkshake (according to my 10yo) is the best in the world. The pancakes are super fluffy , and the full English is absolute perfection. The staff are super Friendly. It's always full of regular customers, which says it all.

Foods good, staff nice, but the front door off its hinges, outside tables and chairs so loose stuff can roll of the plate if you remain on the chair, perhaps a reflection that you need more than food to eat ? Something chefs forgotten !!!!!! Be careful as you enter the doors been off its hinges for weeks, don't think chef/owner is to bothered ! I do understand a female builder offered to repair the door but he feels women aren't capable of such a task , diversity at its finest

Just been here for fathers day blow out with my daughter..her partner and my grandchildren...lamb shank..rice and salad..brilliant kid's menu...pancakes fruil and capote for dessert...this ain't no greasy spoon..though the big 7 choices big BIG breakfast is max!! We discovered this place totally by chance. We needed to eat something quickly and could not search around. We entered this cafe because it looked clean and attractive, and we were not disappointed! What a wonderful place, with excellent food and superb welcome. Great value for money; we could not believe the price. The staff was not only friendly but extremely attentive too. Highly recommended!

  • Curtis Gilmore

Eaten here a few times now and the food has always been okay. Won't be returning as the older woman is extremely rude and really seems like she doesn't want to be there. She lacks basic customer service and communication. The older gentleman is very friendly though and seems to try to make up for her being rude. She should be sacked but if she is an owner then I guess this isn't going to happen!

  • Steve Mansell

Can't fault the place. If there were six stars then they would get them on service and attentiveness alone. Got in early ordered my breakfast, which was improved on with recommendations they offered. Great laugh with chef who has superb personality. Food was very nice . Will definitely use again and most certainly provided I have the same great service as it made my visit!

  • Sarah Browne

Fantastic food, incredibly tasty and flavourful. Lovely service too. Oh and very reasonable price especially for the great quality and generous portions. The Green reviver juice was yum and the “Awesome Breakfast” lives up to its name. Definitely a new favourite and look forward to coming again.

The best cafe in London, and probably the world. Delicious, affordable food with wonderful customer service. Hosted 15 of us in the garden room for a hungover hen party breakfast, everyone raved about how excellent it was. Great for meaty, veggie and vegan. Always try to go when back home, greeted with a smile and asked after family. Highly recommend

  • Petru Mugurel Iancu

I go there quite often. The lady from till very friendly and communicative, the chef is the same very helpful and eager to satisfy your query.I go there for breakfast and you can say a sandwich is a sandwich but is not true.Highly recommended.Go there and try.Sometimes a happy face and a warm welcome is more satisfying than the bacon and the sausages.

  • Johnny Callender

Absolutely delicious! Total surprise, my wife and I went for a walk to look for somewhere for lunch and came across this new cafe. I had the vegi medi toastie sandwich and my wife and fish finger sandwich. Packed full of flavour and the chilli sauce has a kick to make you sweat. The staff are exceptional and very good. We will be back! Many thanks!

  • Alice Connor

Food is fantastic and the people who run the cafe are super friendly and really care about the food they serve- you can tell because it’s so delicious. Can cater for a broad range of diets (they seem to have really thought about what vegan customers- try out the vegan special)! Favourite place for lunch in Brockley by miles! Also I love the name!

Called in for lunch on Saturday, brilliant food and service, definitely recommend and will definitely be going again next time we are in Shrewsbury.

I'm not easily pleased...but this Café served the most delicious lamb chops I have had this year! The staff is super-friendly and I love the setting. The super-secret back section is very intimate...and I'm sure the garden will be very busy when the temperature warms up! This might be Brockley's secret super_awesome Café!!!

  • Carole and Colum Leonard

I think this is a fantastic place and I know many of you out there do too. Did you know they also do takeaway? I didn't and so we had a lovely lunch that my husband picked up. Great. They also can deliver. So please support them especially since the news this afternoon announced closure tonight of all cafes and restaurants.

Deja Brew Cafe is an experience like no other. Top quality service, top quality food and a wide variety of yummy fresh enjoyable foods to choose from. With head chef Toure and Waitress Silvia running the cafe to perfection, this is somewhere you don't want to miss. P.S Best coffee i've tried in London - From an Australian

  • Bijou Venus

Went here for their birthday celebrations (everything half price!). Cheerful, efficient staff brought food quickly despite the rush. Even without the special offer, the food was very reasonably priced. Essentially, it's an extra nice, very clean and smart "greasy spoon" with a wider choice. I will be back.

  • Stephen Trickett

I work near by and when I get chance I always get my lunch from here. Good selection of dishes always well prepared, nice portion sizes and most importantly very tasty. The owners are very friendly and make you feel welcome if you decide to eat in. Highly recommended for your lunch time needs. …

We love Déjà Brew cafe! Me and my partner come here often and the food is always amazing and good quality, the waitresses are always friendly and polite, the chef always says hi too! Even if I wasn't going to have any food here I would definitely have a coffee as it is the best in South London!

  • Sean Ryan

I found this place about six months ago, Deja Brew in Brockley is by far the best value cafe around. Stunning food you will go back for. Always busy and deservedly so. I love this place so much. As do a great many others. Next time your in Brockle, you'd be mad not to try it♥️ …

  • Daniel Mullarkey

Absolute gem of a cafe. Difference vs peers in area is the excellent quality of all dishes and the warm welcome from staff. The local is very large with two seating areas indoors and a further secret garden with covered area. Also provides take away services. Cannot recommend enough.

  • Janine Callender

Great selection of food. Staff are very friendly. Always seems that they are understaffed and have waited on occasion but because the staff are friendly and apologetic it can be forgiven. Definitely would encourage another staff member - even if it is only to clear the empty tables.

Love this place... food is great and service is top notch. Sylvia and Toure are just lovely people who go to that extra length to make you feel at home. My wife used to have a cafe but this place is now our favourite in South London. Wish you guys all the best.

  • Mark Griffiths

Best Eggs in Brockley!!! Such a change to find a talented and accommodating chef working in a cafe. They pride themselves on their home cooked food and he will cook you (within reason) what ever you want. Good food cooked well without pretence.

  • Rachael Jackson

Cute little cafe on the main road, the food is hearty and plentiful, and just really really tasty! I had the poached eggs with sourdough toast and danish bacon, and everything was cooked perfectly with a good yolk pop on the eggs More

  • perry mkwii.

Excellent service and food from the new owners there. I never met the olds ones so I dont really want to compare them. Even the cooks are very towards what the customer wants and it made it a very pleasant experience, I will be back.

Old school cafe that takes the quality to the next level. You'll get twice the food for your money than in your local hipster cafe but it's just as tasty and the staff are lovely. Will be seeing it again!
