OMG I can't say enough about the staff here and the products. Christina the manager, whom I first had the pleasure of meeting this past week, is an amazing human being and we've only just begun to get acquainted with one another. The others that I encountered there behind the checkout as well as at the deli counter, again wonderful human beings in my experience. Having recently opened a new business in the music industry in Hamilton, this is my go-to place when I need to feel a sense of being at home!! I would promote this place from the top of the tallest buildings in Hamilton. That's how strongly I feel about not only the people in this establishment but the vast array of foods and healthy ones at that, that are everywhere you turn. I feel it an honor and privilege to promote businesses and products that I believe in. I have done so since my early days in the Computer Information Technology Industry. I state with a healthy NOT arrogant sense of pride, that the years of studying diligently at the DeVry Institute of Technology from 1982 until 1985, taught me to truly appreciate the Amazing Inventions in the electronic industry and as a result the more knowledge I gained about products and ones that helped my life , the more I naturally wanted to promote them to help other people's lives . This is something that has been a part of my personality since it was a child , wanting to consciously help other people to make their lives better and as a result to make the world better one person at a time in various ways. I am truly grateful to my school colleagues for their help and for all the hard work and effort I personally put in to finally achieving my Electronic Engineering Technology papers. The curriculum was very difficult at times yet all the persistent work and effort I put in to achieving an Honors Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology was well worth the effort. It resulted in my working for five of the largest corporations in the world over a span of my 25-year career. A hard lesson well-earned indeed!! Great Emporium Denningers Hamilton, King Street East. In fact I love this place so much, that I put out to the FIRST 50 PEOPLE that read this review and go to Deninger's, your coffee there is ON ME!!! . So order yourself a SMALL COFFEE, however you like it, and just tell them to put it on Steve M's tab❤

I have been coming here since this location opened and am well aware prices have gone up for groceries. Now I go in and actually see products on the shelf that have expired why there not marked down to sell is just ridiculous unless they are returned to the supplier for a refund. I love the Staff know most of the long term employees now many work in all departments of the store. Also noticed all the 5 star reviews got a thank you from owner the others not a word . The mark up on some of the products they sell are ridiculous will never forget when they tried charging 5 cents for a plastic bag did not last long Vera was still there then I complained and so did many others . There’s an older woman that works upstairs in management who I find rather rude . Let’s see how long this review stays up my last one is gone . This store does not cater to people who value there hard earned money one word comes to mind to the owner and that’s Greedy. Perhaps they should read there mission statement again where it says value . This store was run much better years ago when they did not let food expire on the shelf . Now I mostly just buy my meat here . Suggest the owners pay a little more attention to this location time to tell the older lady upstairs to retire if she is the calling the shots here . Which am sure she is people talk and have seen her in action with the staff I don’t miss much obviously she does wonder how much food waste is at this location. Sad when there are actually places where they could donate to those in need .

I have been going to the King Street Hamilton location since immigrating here in 1970. Myself and my family always loved Denninger's. The food, the atmosphere Felt like family. But the last several years I avoid this location. I happened to be downtown Hamilton today and thought I will try Denninger's one last time. My wife and I got some food from their hot food and sat down to eat. First I was charged 3.50$ too much for a side of scallop potatoes. While receiving my refund, the manager lectured me on how to correctly order my food so this doesn't happen again. My chicken schnitzel, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and gravy was luke warm at best. I ended up throwing the food away. But what was really upsetting was when the manager stopped a woman right after she paid for her food and told her that her bag she was carrying was going to be checked. The manager didn't even have the decency to take the woman over to a table. She had her get down on the floor and dump her bag. The manager than looked through everything and of course did not find anything. She then just walked away and left that poor woman on the ground with her belongings strewn all over the floor. How humiliating. I will never go to that establishment again. They should be ashamed of themselves for treating someone this way. It was disgusting.

Long time customer of this location. The quality as well as customer service has really taken a nose dive over the last year or so. I have resorted to only purchasing things I know are fresh. I used to purchase pastries all the time last two times I did the one time the whipped cream was sour the other time I bit into it and I could taste mold. Still continued shopping here regardless. I went in tonight only to be served at the deli by an employee who was upset she had to serve customers and was called from the back. The experience was so uncomfortable I did not finish my shopping with her waited till things died down and finished up with the guy. I then proceeded to walk around to look for a desert to go with the dinner I just purchased only to notice I was being followed around by the older woman who worked at the deli. She could not see what I was doing looking at stuff at the sale rack at the front of the store so she come around to look to see what I was doing. Completely over denningers as a whole. It is really sad this is actually the first denningers and doesn’t really set much of an example of what your chain of stores should be. I have been a customer of your stores since being a child so that is nearing close to 30 years and let me tell you I can really see the decline.

I was happy to see all shelf dry imported products were obviously checked for their sell by date. There were no items past due date. This is excellent since it's been my experience that some stores who specialize in imported foods often have products which are out of date. The meat that is sold is highest grade. It's a bit more expensive than regular supermarkets but we'll worth it. The deli meats are excellent too and fresh since they sell a good amount and sales seem to be steady. I noticed that many are repeat customers and mention the name of the staff member they are speaking with. This store has a great caliber of sales staff and customer service is paramount. I needed an item from a higher shelf out of my reach. The person at the butchery came right over and got it for me. In a supermarket some staff would just pass by and only help if you asked them to. And that's if there happens to be a staff member actually on the floor. I frequent this store now and have never been disappointed . Linda Ryan

My Airbnb was across the street from this location and needless to say I visited often while I was in town. Denningers is a nice little European style grocery store full of all kinds of appetizing treats. The meat, cheese and desert areas are full of tasty options. Many of which I was new to being that I am so American. Whether you need to stop in for donuts and coffee or a hot meal at the end of the day they have everything you need. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the front cahiers. Their hot food bar is always busy but quick and packaged conveniently for dine in or take out. My biggest vice of course was the bakery I must have been there every night all sorts of delicious things. Although I did enjoy the convenience and the taste my pocket surely did not, as they are highly priced.

  • Kaleigh Field

There is lots of selection in this store, and I heard the deli was good. I was staying at the Marriott, so I thought it looked like a good place to eat. Being a European deli, I thought the cabbage rolls would be tasty. I definitely did not enjoy them. If you are looking for standard cabbage rolls with ground beef and rice, don’t get these! Inside was like a hard (sausage like) formation (based of a few specks of rice, beef and pork according to the menu) and really lacked flavor. I would not order these again but I would try something else as I’m sure this is just a one off thing. Doesn’t fix the fact I am still hungry as I didn’t eat them, but oh well.

It's been about 23 years since I visited the King Street East Denninger's store, but today while visiting downtown Hamilton, my wife and I took the time to visit for a quick lunch at their café. We sampled their Chicken Schnitzel and it didn't disappoint, so delicious. Due to time we didn't have a chance to look around the shop at all the international offerings. Always attentive and friendly staff is a testament to the same stellar management I remember. Belinda and her mother were famous hosts. Hope to get back before another 23 years passes! Convenient, free parking on site.

  • Amelia Thompson

They have great entree’s and wonderful prepared meals and great authentic dishes of worldly foods and the prices are always great and easy on your wallet. I have always loved this shop for their one of a kind treats for gift ideas and stocking stuffers. My granddaughter’s love the one of a kind delicious candies and treats to choose from. My eldest son is very blessed as this shop carries his products for his very sensitive skincare products that he use to have to special order. Looking for a great lunch which is equal to home cooking, this is the place to go to!!!

  • Victoria Grad

Well, it was more fun back in the day when older German ladies would patrol the aisles peering into your basket and quizzing you on what you planned to do with the things you were buying. I still love the store for its wide selection of arcane products which I never see anywhere else. There's also the matter of the people who work their: they have an enormous enthusiasm and affection for the food they sell. It makes shopping there, especially with kids, really fun. My only criticism is that the bread selection is disappointing: look elsewhere for your loaves!

  • Rudy Gerling

My girlfriend and I went in for a bite to eat after the restaurant across the street was discovered to be closed. Not a single part of the meal we ate was with the thirty dollars we paid. The chicken "schnitzel" was a tasteless lump of rubber, the vegetable salad tasted like Knorr tomato soup mix with overcooked veggies thrown in, my Westfaelerwurst was all bun, and my pea soup was another flavorless bowl of gruel with no ham in it. We were so disgusted with our meals that we threw them out and went to a fast food restaurant for better food.

  • Dana Gosse

Plenty of parking available. I'm someone who loves Denninger's and has been to quite a few. This one looks quite nice on the inside but only has an okay selection. Not tons but not bad. I've also noticed, everytime I go in, they've moved everything around. I almost always have to find an employee and ask where something is and they even rarely know. A quarter of the time, what I'm looking for is no longer available too. They have a good Bistro though, as most Denninger's do. Great food served hot and a good salad selection served cold.

  • Marty Mcfly

A superb shopping experience everytime, great and ample parking at the side and although things are a little pricey, you get quality and luxury items, so you're getting what you pay for. Selection is very decent for a small location and all the staff and helpful. Many delicatessen items, jams, sauces, hot luncheon area with seating available. There's something for everyone and the deli has a good selection of salads, pies, chicken, hams, cakes etc A real gem, in the downtown core!

  • Greg Mills

International foods selection, lots of prepared-in-house takeaways, a well stocked deli counter and bakery counter ( best baguettes though they are shipped in ). Hamilton iconic chain and this downtown location though smaller than others still carries all you need. If you make this your regular grocery, well, plan on spending 30-50% more than you would at NoFrills or Nations. But you’ll be eating really high quality and stuff you can’t get elsewhere ( try the dumpling soup )

  • Couples Gaming

Awesome store the products are so exotic and well presented. Easy to find items and the prepared foods are so great. Customer service is top notch. And the deli meats are really on point. I can't help stopping in every time I pass my local location. Grab a great meal and do some shopping you'll never be dissatisfied as everything about this store it just way above par of most stores. Clearly one of my favorite places to go on a weekend snack and shop.

  • Ben Cullimore

My grandmother used to bring me to the deli and procure a piece of Vorner's bologna for me. Ive never stopped going since. I buy their cream cheese with pineapple, they're honey sausages and they're delicious bagels. I will continue to shop at Denninger's for the rest of my life. Oh, and don't get me started about the roast pork. My aunt and I get together specifically for it on regular occasion. Denninger's is a must stop if you are visiting Hamilton.

  • Andrew Fenske

Went there for a quick dinner one hour before it closed right after a hockey game, but no more food was avalable so we had a piece of cake and coffee which was close to 20 bucks, and before leaving for a 2 hour drive home we were told we were not allowed to use the bathroom, it was already closed, which was 30 mins before the store clossd. Wasn't at all impressed... Won't ever go back irregardless of how good that super expensive piece of cake was.

  • Rodney Reid

They have food that isn't full of preserves as well no filler food. Genuine products.. good for your health.... DENNINGERS COULD BE CLASSIFIED A HEALTH FOOD SUPERMARKET...its that good. The store is clean and (my big one) GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Way to go guys your a great team..i would shop there for everything if I could, the one fault I could find was i don't live that close to the store. But thats not Denningers fault ..lol.lol. awesome store

  • Devon Honywill

So happy to have this store so close to me! Great selection of food and absolutely wonderful customer service. I had a lovely lady (who's name I wish I knew) who personally brought me items from the Burlington location as it wasn't being sold in Hamilton. Two weeks after I had spoken to her she remembered and to my surprise had my products waiting for me. Both of the ladies I dealt with made my day. Thank you!

  • Reuben Maracle

This place out to be ashamed of themselves the at they gouge their customers. You know damn well you're over charging for a great many things in your store. I'm sure many things are in the correct price range for you to make a profit but I also know most of the things you gouge on are certainly not worth what you are charging. Fruits and vegetables. Breads. Eggs. Give us a break! Greedy.

  • Dawn Palfreyman

My Mom and I went in today for lunch. We had the Pork Schnitzel Cordon bleu with onions and Sauerkraut. Ekrem was a pleasure and very accomidating. It was delicious and cooked to perfection. We also picked up some cheesecake at the bakery and Liz was so kind to get what i was looking for from the back especially for me, much appreciated. A lovely experience all round! :-) Love you guys!

  • Tony Morgan

Would highly recommend da Big Rudy sandwich w/ everything on it. It’s key to surviving hangovers. As for the rest of the selection and actual grocery store it’s spot on with a massive variety of unique finds. Good for gift giving, good for last min, good for stepping outside of the box. Too bad the Jackson square location is gone; loved that place especially in that section of the mall.

  • Shel

Pretty great place to get a wide selection of ethnic and unique items! Their hot counter is excellent, they have a wide variety of spices, hot sauces, and other kitchen cooking essentials. The location is clean, in a convenient spot and the staff is always friendly and prompt. I'd recommend it if you're looking for something specific and you can't find it in your regular grocery store.

  • wiseman

I enjoy their fries My dad enjoys bringing their burgers to work Not a fan of their Friday Fish and Chips special. It was $15 for a sizeable flat piece of fish and some fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce but honestly you can find better and cheaper fish and chips elsewhere in the city, props for it not being that greasy though for any healthnuts out there, just not my cup of tea

  • Douglas Rotchell

We came all the way from Alberta to visit this lovely gem of a European Market. Everyone we spoke with inside the market were very friendly and the two guys behind the counter went out of their way to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. Out of this world customer service. Wish we had a place like this back home! Keep up the great work. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

  • Brad Bassat

When I was traveling through Lisbon, I bought a bag of freshly baked Portuguese tarts (yes, they sell them wax paper bags). They were the best dessert I've ever had. Sort of like custard meets crème brûlée. In the years since, I've tried to find equivalent pastries in cities across the US and Canada. The Portuguese tarts at Dnniger's are the closest I've ever found. Amazing.

  • Canadian P.E.

Wide variety of international cuisine, a banging deli section and buns galore. Chocolate and candy from all over the world, spices and vegetables i can't pronounce, dairy, and a live restaurant with clean tables and good food from their own kitchen. Free parking attached to the building with receipt to show the parking attendant. The lot is fairly large.

  • Christine Atchison

Great croissants, some of the best I've had in Canada! The meat is good quality and fairly priced. I like that they pack ground beef to order (that way I don't have to get more than I need). Most of the staff is amazing! That said, there is one lady at the meat counter who can be quite sour and mars the experience for me some of the time.

  • Veronica Dyer

Large, lots of variety, good cafe space with a view. Limited quality tea at the cafe, unconcerned/hard to reach staff service (at both grocery line as well as cafe). Better organzied products and displays would go a long way (a bit helter skelter right now, which makes a quick shop more difficult). Great location in international village!

  • Kathy F

My partner and I stopped here a few weeks ago on our way doing errands..awesome selection, we picked up a couple steaks, plus a couple other things. The steaks were amazing and fresh. My partners parents were German (I'm 1/4 German) - my partner took a walk down memory lane remembering meals he had while living at home. We will be back

  • Adam Blacklock

Been coming here forever, classic Hamilton staple the quality has been really consistent over their long time in business and I always find they have great deals if you browse around well. Today was just a short stop with some cured meats and donuts to take back to the city and a breakfast schnitzel sandwich with home fries (14 bucks)

  • Ron J

Good for a quick meal at their deli restaurant plus they have a full line of popular and hard to find European food items. The store also sells gift baskets of various sizes for any occasion. Watch for weekly specials. They also offer premade meals fresh or frozen for take home. A fresh meat and pastry selection is also available.

  • Gordon MORRISON

Every time I visit Hamilton, I always Visit Denningers, their sausages are the best I have ever had. The Bisro has delicious items for breakfast and lunch, love the Haddock on Friday's, can't wait to go back and get a Weiswurst on a bun.I wish they would open a location in Toronto. Great frozen soups and dinner meals.

  • canindo1

a great european type store, cold cuts, european candy, deli counter and so many more items. Only last time I was there and picked up some cold cuts (the great German stuff) my slices were wrapped inside a plastic bag. Until that day, they were always nicely wrapped in paper (just like in Europe) Disappointed.

  • Patricia Hanneman

If your downtown it has good quality food but the atmosphere isn't as good as Upper James if you're sitting to eat. You can get great gift baskets here with many international foods. For Easter this chain of stores can't be beat for diverse quality chocolates. It's good for takeout food to reheat & barbecue.

  • Marcie

When I visit from Toronto regularly, this is my go to place for European treats. Being of European background myself I appreciate the quality and many options that you provide, especially the Bakery. Whomever manages the bakery does an awesome job, customer service is so helpful & pleasant. Love this place.

  • Jonny

I love coming here for a bite to eat at lunch time. The staff are super friendly and helpful and make the food right in front of you. There’s a great sized area to sit in to eat without feeling rushed. Prices are on the more expensive side, but the food quality and level of service more than make it for it!

  • Richard A Urquhart II

This is always a great place to get your specialty German food or cold cuts or homemade soups which change daily. Always plenty of food on the grill and only the freshest ingredients. I love the breakfast food that they serve. I always get more mayo then i should so i end up wearing most of my sandwiches

  • Tom Skublics

This is a great deli. All kinds of fantastic European treats. Terrific choice of meats and sausages, mustards and chocolates. Great Christmas stuff. And if you're hungry, the food counter has an awesome selection of fresh made fantastic meals. Very friendly staff too. Needless to say I love this place.

  • D M

Exceptional service at meat/ deli counter. Outstanding product quality of fresh and cured meats. Truly a European-style-sausage emporium in the heart of Hamilton (who knew) with a hot prepared foods counter for convenient gourmet (pre-COVID) eat-in and takeaway service. You will not regret your visit.

  • Chris Ellerbeck

Amazing. They have incredible lunch foods, unique groceries and extremely friendly staff. It can be a wee bit pricy for lunch but given how tasty it is I really don't care for an occasional lunch. Actually, I think I'll go there today. I could definitely go for a schnitzel for lunch today, mmmmm.

  • Scott Payette

Always helpful, friendly staff in a store in which I can find most of my German food needs which I buy on a weekly basis. It does have less selection than its much larger Upper James and brand new Burlington Mall store. For a small store it does have an above average deli and butcher section.

  • Marcia Duke

I love the eclectic European shopping vibe of Denningers. The prepared food area is our go to for a quick meal on the go. That being said, one of the supervisors was rude to my husband when he was last there which was unnecessary, so perhaps they could work on their customer service a bit.

  • David Sfwriter

Good food at the counter, and a wide selection of international items available in the grocery portion. Bear in mind that the prices reflect the variety, obscurity, and rarity of the items, so probably not for every day shopping unless you're hankering for something from across the ocean.

  • ester finny

I shop at the mountain location but happen to be downtown. Needed 6 items. Only found 1. Was disappointed with selection at this location. Staff was excellent with helping me & explaining reason of limited selection. Overall excellent quality meats if you don't mind paying for quality.

  • Frank Pecyna

Denningers is a fine food market with a great variety of European delicacies and foods from around the globe. They have quality products and their prices reflect the fact that they are imported. They have a great deal of speciality goods you won't find in your local supermarket.

  • Tommy Nguyen

I've heard lots of people rave on about how great this place is and have been dying to go. The hype, was worth it. Unique fresh pastries, exotic cured meats, a mouth watering ready to eat section and a world of exotic foods! If you're a foodie, this is the spot to check out.

  • Neil Stanar

A perfect example of what a European/German-centric grocery should be!!! Sadly, the volume of customers in the store today (a Saturday afternoon), like many for years now pales in comparison to how busy this location used to be on weekends. Sign of the times unfortunately.

  • Jessica Joyce

I needed to order a gift basket as a last-minute birthday gift for my best friend and thanks to the wonderful Amy, it got there in time. Thank you so much, especially to Amy for her wonderful customer service and for going above and beyond to help me make my friend's day!

  • Jess W

A good convenient spot to get European products. Their hot food section has a good variety of foods and their bakery also makes decent products. It can get a bit pricey but I am glad it's around because they might have what you want, but they always have what you need.

  • A zarmine

Love the selection here. Staff is friendly. The hot food station is bumping. The bakery guy is awesome. Then there is the cashier who talked with ppl ahead of me but frowned and didnt speak to me. Will have to avoid her if I think to spend my money at this location.

  • Lyn Brown

The variety of international foods is fantastic while still providing a personal shopping experience. Their fresh meat and sausages and other delectables make it my favorite spot to grocery shop. Staff are super friendly and it's worth the trip to downtown Hamilton.

  • TheKodester

Locally operated chain of grocery stores offering a unique selection. There prices can be higher then your typical grocery store, but it worth the cost due to a lot of items being imported and not found else where. It a great place if you want to try something new!

  • Melora Mackey

Some of the best food! Great meat and cheese selection. I love the amazing quality and tastes and getting food you couldn't find elsewhere. Have brought many meats and cheese to friends houses and they have been a hit each time. Definitely worth checking out!

  • Charlotte Chaulk

Denningers is great! I love their fresh hot foods and it was a staple on my lunch breaks when I was working. Great place to get baked goods, breads and delivery meats as well. Can be a tad expensive for some items but I can understand as they are imported.

  • Robert Koszegi

Its a great place! The food is delicious and fresh. I've never seen it busy either. The deli sandwiches they have are to die for. Fresh bun, loaded with lots of meat and and delicious condiments. I also highly recommend the nacken from their meat counter.

  • Sophie V

Great selection of (mostly European) products. Definitely a great place to shop if you like European chocolate, cheese and cured meat. Price are pretty reasonable! Their pastries are quite good too, loved the maple walnut butter tart! Nice staff too!

  • canuckrcp

Great products, especially if you have a sweet tooth for chocolate and cakes!!! Also awesome ready to eat foods. Don't go on an empty stomach though, or the next thing that will be empty is your wallet, you'll want to buy everything in sight!!!

  • Shel Wilson

This is a great place to go when you're bored from the typical fast food. Only cons are that sometimes the food is a bit bland (so I pick up extra salt and pepper packets) and you're probably not going to walk out with a lunch for less than $15

  • Jean Kayenoex

3 stars for inconsistency. Great selection of meats & sausages, but not so great when they go bad in 2 days. High quality meat pies that get ruined because they were packaged on top of each other in a flimsy plastic bag and didn't survive

  • Ken Zeise

pack your own bags, not even an offer to help, felt like the volume of my purchase was annoying to her, probably the best excuse for automated checkouts. Hoping Denningers in downtown Hamilton considers hiring new cashier(s). 12Dec 5:45pm

  • K. G. Da Costa

Always a great specialty food shop to browse, with friendly, helpful staff, a bright & spacious seating area to enjoy a meal, & also a reliable source year-round of terrific, yet affordable gift baskets with varied prices, up to $100.00.

  • Marion Wingrove

My family has shopped Denningers for nearly 50 years in Hamilton. We have lived 4 hours away since the ‘70’s but still go there several times a year for our foods. It’s ‘home’ to us. The quality and staff are wonderful. Love Denningers!

  • Keram Ave

We bought a Bunche de Noel made by Dufflet Bakery just before Christmas. It was supposed to be hazelnut but there was almost no filling inside and you barely could taste any nuts. Chocolate ganache was gummy and fake to the point that

  • Kiera K (Kiera)

They have a nice hot foods section such as sausages, schnitzel burgers, etc. I got a sausage and the lady behind the counter is nice. There's an area where you can sit inside or at the patio. In the back they have various sweets, deli

  • Lance Lange

Amazing place. The best quality products you will find in Hamilton. Staff is equally great. So much more than a food store. It's a tradition. Been coming here since I was little. If I ever have kids, that tradition will be passed on.

  • Mick

Awesome! Love the deli counter and patio as well as all the interesting foods. There is free parking there and that's a plus for downtown. Would recommend for lunch or for Nordic food items you can't find in other grocery stores.

  • NetAccess Systems Inc

We just wanted to say thanks to Denningers for always supplying us with great catering on time and as per budget. It's good value for $. Some goes with the gift baskets we have requested and received. Appreciated and many thanks!

  • Angie Barr

Fantastic service as always. Fresh food, a ridiculous variety of whatever you could possibly want literally from around the world. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. How could you not shop there for yummy everythings?

  • marcelo cipriani

This is a classic European deli and grocery store. With amazing selections of hard to find European foods and deserts. They also have a cafeteria that serves high quality comfort foods at reasonable prices. Its worth a visit.

  • Mark Argentino

Great selection and service at this location and very friendly staff. Very clean and nicely organized throughout - we ate food from the take out counter, delicious and good portion sizes, this location is highly recommended!

  • Dolores Smith

I had a classic burger today. It was out of this world! Even though there was a long lineup I got it in about 2 mins. Service was exceptional! Will be a regular !!!!!!I want to try everything! And so cheap for high quality!

  • Dean Heid

The variety of food offerings they had combined with an impeccable customer service was second to none. Vera the cash check out lady left me smiling. Such a great food shopping experience. I look forward to my next visit.

  • The Temp

The original and largest location. Fresh deli with cooked dishes and assorted meats and cheeses/appetisers for sale. Bakery with fresh daily pastries and cakes. Weekly specials. Love the hot dishes for lunch or dinner!

  • A G

One of my fav destinations to get any hot and ready food, also a great place to pick up some finger lickin bbq during summer season! Prices are always good and the staff at this location always go above and beyond.

  • Rich P

Clean place have been coming in for yrs, fresh baked bread, fresh cold cuts, salads etc.. And their buffet for lunch is great everything fresh what else can you ask for? That's why I have been coming here! Cheers.

  • Andrea Boyko

Wide selection of local and European foods. A restaurant is contained within the store with a patio is opened once the weather is warm. Denningers is a must see for anyone new to the city or enjoys European fare.

  • M J

Great deli, and a great restaurant with a variety of foods from Germany etc. Some items you can find no where else. I wish you would open stores in Brantford, Cambridge and Kitchener. I believe you would do well.

Quality has dropped off in the past year or so. Too expensive for the quality of the products. And for hot meals ... I do not expect instant potatoes & soggy, tasteless frozen vegs. Rarely shop there anymore.

The lady behind the meat counter is terribly rude. No customer service, would not pack my meat the way I asked. The den Ingres down town Hamilton is 100% better all round. Fresher food and customer service.

Nice shop but the lunch counter is middling. They seem to have a very broad definition of schnitzel but the rot kohl is tasty. Bought a frozen vegetable lasagne to take home - it was more like lasagne soup.

Friendly atmosphere. Great quality and variety of food, both from the restaurant and grocery section. Not many fruits and veggies but I go specifically for meat, bread and perishables so I don't mind.

Every single person who works at this location is incredible! Always so friendly, and genuinely helpful. Seeing the staff enjoy their work makes a huge difference in the overall shopping experience.

Delicious food, can sometimes find very good desserts on sale. Good cheese. Everything is much more expensive but can't find anything like this anywhere else. Lots of free samples too.

It's extremely clean. Staff is always pleasant. A lot of healthy & good quality food at a reasonable price. Never really too busy & never really loud. I wish it was open later though.

One of my favorite specialty food stores. I have shopped here since I was young. Try the chocolate-orange scones, the German marshmallow cookies or especially the Westfaler sausages.

Hot food bar is fantastic. I recommended the pork schnitzel cordon blu. I allways keep some schnitzel burgers in the freezer. Delicious pierogies of all flavors, pies are to die for

I must say that ALL the staff at this location is awesome but an extra special customer service award goes to Chloe (hope I spelled it right) in the bakery. Thanks you made my day!

Food was delicious. The portions were pretty small for the price you pay. Very busy which doesnt allow the ability to be 100 percent attentive to each customers orders and needs.

Had lunch here. Food was so so good ..I found several items from the Old County was a delight to get . Store shelves packed with any European shopper looking for a taste of home

  • Exiled New Yorker “Exiled New Yorker”

Love. local european import chain. Only place in town to get a decent salami or good english tea. Food service is outstanding, although cafeteria style service may put some off.

Quality hot food available breakfast lunch and dinner. One of my fav go to places Downtown. Patio available. Good place to find dinner foods to take home and cook yourself.

This is a great place for something different from the regular grocery stores. The jams, jellies, crackers etc are always interesting. The smoked pork chops are fabulous!!!

  • Suji Yoon

I love the smoked pork hocks, gourmet kettle-cooked chips, imported candies, fresh baked goods & wide variety of high-quality foodstuffs. A very worthwhile weekly splurge.

  • Steve Porter

Great food on the counter when they are serving. Best deli counter in the downtown. Friendly staff and good frozen food options too. A bit pricey but quality merchandise.

  • Victoria V

Not great selection and expensive hidalgo "clearance" EVEN staler clearance cinnamon buns. But fun to go nonetheless. They do not treat you as a second rate citizen.

  • Abigail Churchilll

They sell a slice of vegan apricot cake that is SO good. They should advertise their vegan baked goods in the store front window and make more different desserts :)

  • Tim Tapp

Great selection, many unique food offerings, fantastic staff and fair prices. A true mix of old school MA and pop mentality in a modern, medium sized grocery store.
