It is absolutely sad to note that The Department Of Home Affairs Chatsworth, has been marginalized by The Current Ruling Party, The ANC, because it is so called situated in what is considered as an "Indian Township". The Department Of Home Affairs Chatsworth which at one stage handled the issuing of Marriage Certificates, Passports and other valuable services, no longer does so because The ANC is punishing Residents of Chatsworth for not voting them into power. What The ANC has failed to realize that post apartheid, Chatsworth is made up of a greater percentage of Black citizens. I concede to the fact that apartheid had marginalized Black South Africans, but The ANC has superceded its Racist Practices compared to their counterparts. People of Chatsworth must travel to Durban City Center, Pinetown and Ispingo to get the services they so desperately need whilst having to place themselves at harms way of being robbed, carjacked and possible death.
You hear stories about how incompetent home affairs are but I feel like this specific branch are pioneers in being useless. They take being useless to such a high level that one can even consider them to be artists. There are lumps of security guards and personnel sitting around and doing nothing. At the entrance you are greeted by 4 people, 2 of which will likely be on their phones, the other 2 having a conversation while ignoring you. If you walk past them they yell at you for entering without their permission. The cashiers are slow. The person processing documents is slow. Every step of the way this specific department of home affairs has found a way to be as incompetent as humanly possible. If there are any other companies or organisations out there looking for a way to run your organisation in the most incompetent way possible, send some consultants to Chatsworth home affairs to observe and learn from the master's, the creme de la creme.
In September I asked the security for help about making a temporary ID he told me to wait in the ID queue I waited as from 6am in the cold.... Then at 8am the home affairs staff comes out to tell us those who are making temporary ID must go to town because the printer is broken..... Why isn't the security stallf updated about this so he can update others wasted 2hours of my time in the line and taxi fair for rubbish
The overall experience was ok it was quick and easy however I wanted an unabridged birth certificate for my son and I. I was told that they will be able to print my sons one same time but I have to wait 3-6 months to receive mine Becaue I'm born in 98 they have to check their archives. 3-6 months for an unabridged birth certificate what rubbish is that? That is just pure putrid I'm sorry.
What a pathetic service, wait.... Wait.... Wait a bit more. After you reach the front then you receive the warm welcome of ... Your in the wrong queue. Great, no signage, no assistance, no service just what our great government promises every election. At least they keep their reputation. Close the branch down and save our tax money!!! We as citizens do not need this waste of resources.
The staff are absolute useless, it's as though they're doing the public a favour when it's their job. I guess that's the attitude one has when working for a government entity. At 15h30 the ladies at the front start packing up to go home. 15h45 they are out the door. Must be great getting all the perks of working for a government entity and doing basically nothing the whole day.
-The building walls were mouldy. This is a serious health hazzard. - There was no proper guidance or signage to which line to stand in - only one data capurer with an EXTREMELY slow computer - The efficiency and turnaround time was appauling to get a birth certificate! - The workers there are extremely unfriendly (Nokubonga was helpful). - Service is just really really bad
There were extremely long lines just to book an appointment and only one person was assisting. After 12 no one will book you in I was told I will be contacted in November since their systems are backlogged. Matric students still don't have id cards and the fnb in Chatsworth does not offer to remake our id cards. It's very disappointing our lives are at a standstill
Absolutely pathetic service What are the tax payers actually paying for? Attitude and terrible treatment They don't have pens to fill in the forms, they don't have a card machine for payments, then when you get cash they don't even have change. Disappointing to see the local government buildings in such a terrible condition and to receive such miserable service.....
What a wow experience in government places peace and quiet is something that is very hard to get but there oh my gosh, the staff so friendly and helpful I went in and out I spent less than 30 minutes in there, thank you Chatsworth dha, thank you, for the first time in my life I enjoyed going to the government sectors first time with no regrets thank you
Absolutely useless you cannot apply for what home affairs usually services such as smartcard ID or even a passport. Their system is more outdated than chatsworth itself. This proves an inconvenience for everyone since the other branches are so far away and this office is still posing as a home affairs office when they should be updating their systems.
Paid a visit to Sassa offices in Chatsworth for old age grant on August the 22nd. Besides having to sit an additional 2 hours due to loadshedding, what a vast difference compared to Durba station (disaster) and Pinetown (disaster). Chatsworth is by far the most helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended …
The home affairs is absolutely useless. The staff act as if they are doing the public a favour by assisting them. The gaurds are unhelpful and rude. There is no point in having such a terrible facility. It has truly downgraded. Government and counsel need to get more involved in the services provided to the public
It only fair to give credit where it’s due. I went to home affairs on the 26th April to get information on how to get unabridged birth certificates for my daughters. To my surprise, I managed to get both certificates done and printed within an hour. It was a relatively quick and painless process. 5 stars!
The building is in such bad condition and limited staff and resources but the few staff that are there work with so much of energy and effort and really do the best they can with the limited resources they have.On top of that they have such a wonderful attitude toward the people. Really was impressed.
They only take 80 people in a day. Had to be in line by 4.15am to be 15th in line. People selling their spaces and gapping in added to the frustration of everyone in line legitimately. Staff open at 8.15am, staff inside are efficient. Processes are all backwards. Not a pleasant experience.
Staff is extremely rude ,went to pick up document today and the lady at front was so arrogant, she told me to leave and come back monday because they did not have water ,does it take water to print a single document As for the phone it seems as if no1 cares to pick up when it rings
No one knows how to answer a phone at the Chatsworth department have not been told to fetch my sons birth certificate but trying to phone them to find out if its ready is impossible. Phone just rings and rings and then the line is busy. Really pathetic …
I actually went in with a positive attitude and smiled and greeted everyone. It was a long affair to update pension parents sassa to bank and do my sons identity document. Namaste works patience and gratitude. Thanks to tireless civil servants who give us our info.
I emailed a few DHA offices and not one of them replied except for this one. I even got a call from Ronny Perumal addressing my query. It's a first for me from a government office. Well done Mr Perumal. Now if only the other branches could follow suit.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff . They can't be blamed at the governments implementation of such a slow application process . I certainly hope that this branch will be offering smart cards and passports in the future.
Had to go there before they open due to people queueing to be first in line. Quick friendly service with the occasional contact jumping the queue. Building in need of maintenance. Dusty and rain gets in.
When I first went their, there was an Indian lady who was assisting us. She's very helpful and kind. The other two african ladies have a very bad attitude towards people.
Pathetic service. Consultants are not helpful and quite rude to older people. Staff consistently walk around in the back office but offer no assistance to customers.
Went to fill at application for ID This home affairs was brilliant..Had two personal dirrecting ever one on the floor..In and out in 2 hours.. Ver well organized..
Went there to apply for my temporary ID, what a pleasant experience. Very organised. I was in and out in 15 minutes with my temp ID on hand. Very impressed.
They never answer the phones but you will find the phones have an engaged tone if they are on a call. Customer service is terrible, quite frankly!
The system is offline again. Staff is not very helpful and to top in all there is only 1 toilet working for the ladies but it doesn't have a door
great help from ronny . had a query not related to chatsworth branch but he assisted me tremendously . thumbs up to Ronny
All DHA offices are the same. Nobody answers the phones, or reply to emails. When you do go you get no service.
Please employ more staff and get more computers. Service is very slow. 6am until 2pm just to get an ID made.
Not open on Saturdays get there was told by security its closed not their problem must come back monday
They dont deserve any star..refer to Lishen Govender's review...i agree with every bit of his review!
Trying to phone to find out if I can come collect a document. ..no answer or busy signal!
You deserve big 5...my ID was done same day in Chatsworth THANK YOU for good service.!
