Title: "Disappointing Experience – A Decline in Quality and Service" I've been a loyal customer at Derby Thai for nearly 8 years, but today's experience left me utterly disappointed. Despite years of patronage, the recent visit revealed a significant decline in both quality and service. Upon purchasing our usual order, we were shocked to find that the portion of meat had drastically reduced to a mere four pieces. To add insult to injury, the price had skyrocketed to $17. Concerned about this unexpected change, I reached out to the owner to express my dissatisfaction. To my surprise, instead of addressing the issue professionally, the owner responded by asking for photographic evidence. We promptly provided the requested photos, only to receive an absurd suggestion – to involve the police. This dismissive and unprofessional behavior is a stark departure from the customer-oriented service I had come to expect from Derby Thai. It's disheartening to see a once-reputable establishment lose its credibility by overcharging and underserving loyal customers. My advice to anyone considering a visit to Derby Thai is to exercise caution – inspect your order meticulously on-site, as the quality and integrity of the service seem to have taken a disappointing nosedive. Regrettably, I won't be returning to Derby Thai, and I urge others to think twice before investing their time and money in what used to be a trustworthy dining experience.

After three years; I finally came back (2023 October) after craving Thai food. Prices are the same as most Asian restaurants. $17 pad Thai $13 beef salad. Yes, I ate for two but still hungry! Portion size is for appetisers. Pad Thai was a tad sweet for me and lacked the wok smell, but I can hear the wok tossed and clanking in the background with the fluctuating hissing sound of the heat. I didn’t want to ruin the flavour by adding chilli oil so enjoyed it as intended by the chef. The beef salad was pleasing but portion was more a twelvee. It’s balanced and seasoned well with the beef not overly sweet or salty but tender with a burst of juices and a tinkle of chilli. The garden salad (mixed salad found at most woollies or coles) wasn’t as authentic as I’d hoped but served well on a warm spring day. I should have ordered the lunch special $12 with rice and one curry. Many ordered that and it did look appealing. Would I come back, heck yes.

This is one of my all-time favorite comfort food corners. Among other cuisines, I love Asian cuisine as well and have a special interest in East Asian foods. This time I tried Khow Pad Krapow, Tom Yum Chicken soup, and curry puffs. The food was freshly cooked, well flavored, and was well presented. This restaurant serves one of the flawless Tom Yum soups having an authentic flavor. I never got a chance to have dessert from the Caulfield shop as always they say that they don't have it. So that must be the only suggestion I would offer for their improvement.

Highly not recommended to go to this restaurant! Ordered lunch delivery via Uber eat and requested to have cutlery with the food order, but when I got the food, there was no cutlery in the bag, I rang the restaurant to request spoons for my food, and I was told to pick up the cutlery myself! As I ordered my lunch to be delivered to my job site, there was no spare cutlery at the job site, i explained to the staff in the restaurant on the phone about my situation but they said they could not do anything for me and still asked me to pick up myself. Therefore, I had to stop my work and came to the Derby Thai to return the food as it had already cold. The staff presented very bad attitude towards me and I will never go to this restaurant anymore! Very disappointed service!

Can’t believe this happened to me! The food was just okayish!! not even that great! And as we were about to leave one of the lady staff members stopped and asked to pay for the can of drinks that we’d already paid for while she was hovering around the dine in! Despite me telling her that I paid for it, she just wouldn’t believe me and was totally convinced I’d stolen them and had made sure by calling the guy who took my order and confirmed that I paid for them!! What’s shocking is that she did this in front of a restaurant full of customers which was very insulting. It almost felt like she was trying to teach me a lesson for something she assumed I had done. I doubt that I will ever visit that place ever again.

I have been here a few times and I have never been disappointed. The environment is not the best for a dine in as it is small and the tables are sticky for some reason. However, I really like the food here. Pad Thai was good, very sweet but that's the way I like it. Roti was pretty good too. Sometimes they overcook it a little so it's a bit too crispy but it's not a big deal to me. Peanut sauce is nice too. Green Curry was tasty, not too spicy and very generous with the amount of meat. Overall, a good place for those who are looking for good food at affordable prices.

This was the first authentic Thai food I tried, so, cannot compare with anything else! But the food was good, Thai chicken fried rice can never go wrong! Tried the prawn appetizer and the sauce was unique! Calm and cozy place which has a wide menu with increase in price by $1-$2. Most dishes have got same price for take away and dine in. It's better to dine in as you get the option to add-on extra sauce and spices present on table!

Very deceptive restaurant! No information is given at the time of ordering, and then the wait is 40 minutes! Oh my God! There's only six tables in this poor little restaurant, and there's a 40-minute wait? I immediately asked to cancel the order and the answer was no. I don't understand why they are so justified in wasting other people's time. Don't come to this restaurant, they are cunning cheats.

I'd written a fairly negative review previously. These guys work very hard and their food is fantastic. Their service is always fast and cheerful, despite the fact that they are always under pressure because of their popularity and the fact that they are always dealing with large numbers of orders. If you're able to dine in when it is quiet the experince is great. Value for money is second to none.

There's always a 50% chance you'll leave just satisfied and 50% chance unhappy as half the time they don't get the order right, they forget to make it spicy when asked to and the oyster sauce always isn't enough. However the staff are very friendly.

This place used to be so good but not anymore! There’s so many better Thai places now. The chicken satay skewers were dry and overly salty and the pad see ew was not saucy enough, so the chicken was also dry. I could tell just by looking at it, there wasn’t a lot of sauce. The noodles didn’t have that browny gloss to them like most dishes do!

One of the best Pad See Ew I’ve had! So many great food options in the area and this is one of them. If you’re a uni student who’s worried about exams and needs to feel good about something, Derby Thai will take your mind of it for a second. Why go to KFC or 7/11 when you get beautiful, fresh Thai food from people who love what they do

DELICIOUS GREEN CURRY, TOM YUM AND PAD THAI!! we were served 15 min after we sat down and given generous portions. The soup was served boiling hot which we liked, and there are free condiments such as chili oil and salt on the side which add to the experience. Loved it, 10/10

It was good overall a wonderful experience. First authentic Thai food after landing in Melbourne. Had pad Thai and Vegan special. Rich in flavour and taste. It's normally always crowded and some might even get waiting time but it's surely worth the wait.

I was a student at Monash Caufield campus so everybody from Monash Caufield knows about this place. The food is spectacular while affordable...my favourite has to be their Pad Kra Pow with an egg also Pad See Ew. Their Path Gai is also nice.....highly recommended.....

Tom yam had sweet taste to it and so was Thai chicken green curry not th coconut sweetness but some other sweetness to it. Not enough green paste to the curry. The punch was missing. Overall very disappointed.

Awesome Thai food. Fulsome and cheap for uni students. Dishes start from 8.5$. Do try the chicken fried rice with red curry (not on the menu).
