This review is intended for Discount Electronics - North Austin on W Parmer Lane: Look over the used computer you buy from them for additional defects not listed on the website description, and know that they can, in fact, give you a full refund if there are defects that were not listed on the website, even though they may try to tell you store credit only. The computer I purchased had additional defects not listed on the website description and that were not pointed out to me during pickup. The failure to point out the additional defects could have been an honest mistake since my pickup process was rushed on my end. However, I did not appreciate that during my return of the computer the next day, the same individual tried to tell me that they only offered store credit. I politely stated that I'd be requiring a full refund, and the guy agreed to the refund, then admitted to noticing the defects prior to my pickup. All in all, they made it right, but I didn't appreciate the "store credit only" line given that the mistake was on their end. Big deal on a $2000 purchase. There was a computer available on their website with a bent chassis that the rep on the phone said he honestly wouldn't touch. I appreciated his honesty and wonder why they would list something for sale that could fail with one more accidental drop. Discount Electronics' prices are too high based on comparing their pricing with new computers directly through Dell. For both a Dell Inspiron and XPS, I found new computers through Dell's deals page that were at the same price as Discount Electronics with chips that were 2 generations newer and other specs that were the same. I've only had one experience with them; so this review is limited to a single experience. Couple people I know have had great experiences with Discount Electronics. Discount Electronics was excellent in helping me select a computer and took the time to answer all of my questions.

This place seems to be meant for businesses and people that don't care about value, money or specs, and I've visited three Discount Electronics locations many times over the years. They re-sell used computers and accessories for a lot more than they are actually worth. You should just buy a brand new device without keys worn clean off, scratches across the display, and damage to casings. I can even justify a pawn shop, you can get at least two used laptops for the price of one here with similar specs. I let myself spend $30 on a laptop bag that didn't fit (yes the size matched), normally I look up prices before buying. Not worth the hour drive back to return it. Given there was a big box full of these old, slightly worn, discontinued bags with brand new packaging, I can't possibly think the store paid anything for them. I've worked at a few repair shops and have seen businesses or people donate their old or unused items to places like this, so why did I spend $30 when a modern Dell bag on Amazon is $20? I at least liked when they sold me a modern iMac for dirt cheap at their old location a few years ago because they had a bunch with dying hard drives. I assume the technicians didn't know the display panel was held by magnets, incredibly easy to work on. I should have bought their whole stock. If an employee of the store actually reads this, just know that you guys are at least pleasant to talk to and are very welcoming to customers.

Tim the customer service rep that helped me was so awesome. He was helpful in every aspect of guiding me in the purchase of an affordable laptop computer. He got me a great deal with a warranty as well. Tim took his time to make sure everything was working properly. He was informative and answered my questions with a great attitude. He explained everything I needed to know without being to technical so that I understood the information. Not only did Tim help me with my purchase he also let me know of a job opening within the company when he found out through our conversation I was looking for a job. He is a great asset to your company. He deserves to be acknowledged for his great attitude and exceptional customer service. My girlfriend needed a laptop. She wanted aesthetic and long battery life, I wanted her to have something that would be fast and not lag. Discount Electronics was the 5th place we looked at including Amazon, Newegg, and Backstock. Not only was Discount Electronics cheaper, but the service was phenomenal. I called with fairly beaten up after my other experiences, and Farley confirmed stock and the specs they had immediately. When I walked in, Patience helped me check battery specs and grabbed a different stock that was an even better fit. The price was better than Amazon, the service was the best I've had in years, and we are extremely thankful for the fine folks over at DE North Austin. Thanks again for making a very stressful situation take less than 10 minutes. Should have started here, and will know better in the future.

Great Customer Service - Impressed! Our recent experience at Discount Electronic Store was fantastic, all thanks to Manager Matt. My daughter had this cool art project idea that needed non-functional computer keyboards. When I called the store, Manager Matt couldn't find many in stock in the store, but he didn't stop there.He went out of his way and managed to get 20 keyboards from their warehouse within a few hours, and he didn't even charge us for them! Manager Matt's willingness to help and his quick action made a huge difference for us. It's not often you find such dedicated service. We're really thankful for the extra effort. I needed a desktop computer and I needed it quick. Having a good experience with Discount Electronics several years ago, I knew my options there would be pretty much what I was looking for. The computers there are not brand new but not that old either and they stand behind the product. Also, the prices are reasonable. Daniel was the store representative helping me while I shopped the floor models. He was very helpful and I was impressed with his knowledge of the Dell desktops and their technical specs. I left DE in Round Rock, fuming. I was misinformed on what they could do to re-image my computer and on top of that I was in the door before closing time but they wouldn't tend to me because they had already closed out the register. They suggested I go to the Parmer Lane DE. What an inconvenience! BUT I had no choice. Well, let me tell you, Eric and Farley turned my fuming, most irritated face frown upside down. They took care of my situation and talked me through the whole re-imaging process with great customer service. I will now make W Parmer DE my store of choice eventhough it is further from my house. I brought my laptop in with an upgrade part I purchased online. My tech savvy friend recommended them for the installation and HOLY COW! They were fantastic! Excellent service, friendly, efficient and informative. I recently brought in another part to be installed and even though the part couldn't be installed on my laptop, the employees were super helpful and accommodating. They even recommended alternatives to what I was trying to accomplish AND were very apologetic for not being able to do what I was asking of them (at literally no fault of their own) I will be returning with any more services I need and I can't recommend them enough.

The service is awesome if I could give them a 10 stars and more I would. I was needing a laptop or pc that would be compatible with a program that I was using for dou screen. And they actually made sure the system and item was purchasing would meet my needs and was compatible for the program before I left the store. I have not had customer service like this in along time they go above and beyond for you. I highly recommend them. and PRICING OMG WOULD FIT ANYONES BUDGET.They truly care about their clients. I ordered a new desktop online and wanted to add some additional features like more memory so I called in and placed that order on the phone to make sure it went with my new desktop. When the new desktop arrived it did not have the additional features I had paid them to install. So I called on a Saturday and spoke to a rep named Javier who made the process super easy! He emailed me a mailing label and then had the updates installed and the computer back out to me in less than 3 days! The price was better than fair and the customer service is unmatched. These guys are the real deal. 5 Stars from this satisfied customer.

The team looked out for me so well. I had been having chronic issues with a server. I was told the next time the issue arouse the team would have it replaced. The manager, I believe his name is Matt, took great care of me. I had to drive in from Houston everytime I had an issue. So they were sure to coordinate with me on a release of my replacement server. It happens to be more of a gaming style server, but it is superior for my needs for video editting and I haven't had a single issue. I've been a happy customer sense I picked up my first laptop and have continued to be satisfied by the products and service with DE!

Ignore these crooks. Went in to upgrade DDR4 RAM for my laptop and desktop. I was quoted 300 dollars for 32gigs of laptop 2666mhz DDR4 RAM!! Which is literally INSANE pricing - paid $75 for Kingston RAM on Newegg. The associate made a long sorry excuse for all their RAM going to their machines they sell- and even admitted I could do far better online. I vastly prefer to support local businesses - but when they are attempting to clearly gouge a customer like this - there’s no way I can recommend this place - if I need so much as a can of air, or $5.00 mouse - I’ll pass on Discount Electronics from now on.

I bought a new laptop and could not connect and use a larger monitor to it without leaving the laptop open. I went to the Parmer Lane location to purchase a docking station. I was assisted by Tim. He was very helpful and informed me that no docking station was needed, it was a setting on the laptop that would fix my problem. He then proceeded to start my laptop and adjust the setting as needed. I brought my laptop home and everything works as I had intended without costing me anything! Tim was knowledgeable and a super nice guy. Discount Electronics is fortunate to have him as an employee.

Dropped in looking for a dual-monitor setup for home office / productivity. Brandon was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. After discussing my needs, he informed me that certain components I had at home were honestly superior to what they had in store. After that, he personally browsed the monitors they had in stock to find the cleanest examples that exactly matched the feature set I had specified. Going to the Parmer Discount Electronics location is a must if you want both quality products and quality customer service. In particular, Tim is a delight to talk with and incredibly knowledgeable about PC repairs and processes. I spoke to Matt B. on the phone this morning and he answered all of my questions so I asked for him when I got to the store. I'm not experienced with the technical aspects of laptops. Matt looked up my last purchase as I needed the same type of laptop. He showed me available models and gave me good information on each. I went with a newer laptop that will be compatible when Windows 11 is enacted. Matt was very easy to work with and I would recommend him to anyone, especially those who aren't tech savvy. I can't wait to stop using my 12 year old slow laptop!

Our company buys all our computers from them! Absolutely love the friendly customer service they always give us. The wait time can be a little bit of course if other people are in the store too but that is completely normal. We worked with Jozef this time and he was the best! I've been a customer for well over 15 years; it’s the first place I go to when I need computer accessories, one-off adapters or just about any Dell branded peripheral. On rare occasions I ask for help; I could have asked ChatGPT how to recover data from an SSD, the correct enclosure and all the land mines to avoid, but lucky me Daniel just clocked in for the day. I brought in an old MacBook Pro that I had almost given up on. Half the time it wouldn't boot, and the other half of the time it would crash when starting any application. I saw a reference to a GPU failure in the diagnostic call stack, and mentioned that to Matt Gustafson, who was helping me. He did some quick research, found a promising lead, and made a change to the power management in the system settings. And voila! It's worked flawlessly for the last 3 days, and I'm confident it will survive for a good bit longer.

Brandon was SUPER helpful! He asked us about what specs we were looking for as well as our price range, and not only found a great computer in the back room, but also price matched the website, saving us about $75! However, he was pushed out of the way by the person who talked to us in the store first, but didn't sell us the computer. This is definitely the store to go to if you need a computer. Great selection and warrantees, and the prices are far below what I ever anticipated. And significantly below what you would pay for new equipment. Staff are knowledgeable and extremely helpful, and provide lots of additional useful information. In addition to buying a computer, I had them service my old one. They did this for an absolute fraction of what it would’ve cost if I had used the geek squad.

I ordered a chromebook, which I realized once it was received that did not meet my need my needs. I ended up giving it away because by the time I had paid their fees for shipping and restocking fees it was a big loss. They only offer store credit and sent an email stating they didn't have anything in stock that would work for me. Be sure to read their return policies carefully so you don't get blindsided like I was!!

We found a good deal on a Mac Book Pro laptop. The Service was excellent, Matt B. made sure we had the right charger and when we came back needing help with the Bluetooth set up he didn't take more than a minute to fix the problem. Staff seems very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Tim gave me some good DIY advice on how to transfer data off a busted laptop. I brought the old hard drive in and he quickly matched it up with a $15 USB enclosure and told me what to expect when I start the transfer. Now I have all my old data transferred and my old hard drive as a spare backup USB drive. One happy customer!
