I had high hopes for this place based on the other reviews I saw online, but I can definitely say that I did not have a great experience at this location. The staff leading up to the appointments were overall friendly but I had incredible difficulty trying to communicate with an actual veterinarian. When my puppy was having nausea due to motion sickness, it took me three or four back and forth emails with the front desk to get an answer from someone at the clinic (both in person or via email). I never ended up getting an answer that helped so I had to rely on a family friend to get what I needed to help my dog. The spay procedure for my dog was a logistical nightmare. I was never introduced to the surgeon before the procedure, which I found a little unnerving, and I had been the the clinic one time before the day of the procedure. The clinic kept calling the wrong number whenever they tried to update me (even after correcting them) and whenever I would call back, they were too busy to answer me about the status of my dog. Apparently my dog’s surgery was done at noon, but I didn’t get an update until 4pm (even though her surgery had a hiccup during induction!) When I went to pick up my dog, the staff initially gave me partial discharge instructions since I work in healthcare professional (I work with people, not animals) and I had to ask that they go over everything. But at the follow up, when I offered my limited knowledge regarding how I thought her incisions were healing, the staff told me “they would take my biased opinion into consideration” and wait to see what the actual vet thinks. Honestly, the Veterinarians seem nice enough, but a few of the staff were condescending, inconsistent, and made me feel like I was taking up too much of their time. I will say all of the staff are not like this at all and are kind. I might have just met some people on a bad day. But as a healthcare professional myself, I would never take out my frustrations on someone else who is also having a hard day. I now take my puppy to a different veterinary practice and I am SO much happier. I have incredible support there, which I never truly felt here. I personally would not come to this practice again, especially for bigger procedures or more advanced care.
My journey with District Vet began when I first moved to DC in 2015! At that time the Veterinaries themselves; were friendly and accommodating. Fast forward to today and it’s like some super social Elite club which you must sell body parts just to get a return call. My female dog Lily had 6 puppies on March 13. Prior to her delivery I went to District Vet and got her all checked out. I was persuaded into getting an XRay $$$$ to count the puppies when I wanted an ultrasound which is just as good! Fine anything for my dog’s especially for these puppies. $250 later I was quoted 5 healthily pups were are lined up and ready to meet the world. On the day of the delivery 2 hours after I knew I was finished for sure; because I was medically told so, a Sixth puppy pops out shocking everybody. Great it’s an extra puppy no big deal. Big deal comes about when the puppy were about to reach week 3 start of deworming. I called several times and they always promised to call me back after speaking to the doctor. That call never happen and I worked it myself with a breeder friend of mines. Am not a breeder! So fast forward to this weekend. Puppies are now several weeks old. I called district vet again for a puppy health evaluation for all 6. Yet again got to talk to the doctor about scheduling an appointment for the puppies. That call went out on Saturday and not a damn word since. I’ve received better treatment from Banfield Hospital and I think they are ghetto. I will not continue to court a business who wants nothing to do with me the customer. Also their COVID-19 procedures makes no sense what so ever and causes animals and owners more hardship than necessary. The end of be all use another Veterinary. Save yourself several days on your life. I should sue them just to prove a point. I got nothing but time on my hands these days, but no freaking courthouse to file the paperwork! UGH Oh and the kicker is they wouldn’t sell me the dewormer either. How hateful could a business be to refuse to sell dewormer. What Tools you guys are
Edit: I was reached back out to regarding this incident, and they were very upset that my inquiries were ignored. They rectified that by giving me the help I needed and answered the questions I had. their receptionists were also wonderful when I called asking questions about pet insurance. I do feel like my initial issue must have been overlooked or tossed around, but I’m glad they reached out to fix it. We will be back, hopefully with our new puppy. Old review: I’ve been here three times between two dogs within the last 6 months. The techs always seem really great so that’s why I’ll give two stars, however while on the phone with the Vets they seemed to rush the appointment and spoke down to us when I had questions at the end of the appointment. (The dogs were brought in for vaccination boosters + the full check up and an allergy issue). It’s one thing if I don’t particularly enjoy the bedside manner of the veterinarians as long as I feel like my dogs are receiving ample care, but the reason for this review is because I’m not sure that they are receiving the best preventative care here. My dog had a traumatic experience, and I called and left a message after hours asking if there were any behavioral issues I needed to look out for and if we should make an appointment to come in, left my name, dogs name, and phone number, and I didn’t hear anything back from them. It’s upsetting to me because I truly am just trying to be a responsible pet owner and look out for my dogs well being instead of trusting a google search, and even if they thought I didn’t need an appointment, I was expecting a call back. I’m sorry to say but I think our next appointment will be elsewhere.
I'm giving them 1 star and that's only because the tech was more useful than the actual "Dr." There were so many things that were missed I won't bore you with all of the details like paying $72 to be weight and given a shot! When they were giving my cat the FVRCP the doctor could not even tell me what it was for, or if there any side effects to look out for, she actually told me she would get me literature on it. I had to actually stand in the exam room and google it! I'm starting to think that they had this woman put on scubs and pretend to be a vet. I was expecting a nose to tell exam, this was not done, how could it have been with an exam that took every bit of 15 minutes and this was the first visit. Then when I look at the online medical record there is another vet listed, not the one who saw me. All in all- lesson learned and I would suggest unless it was an absolute emergency and you lived across the street then yes by all means take your pet there. If it's not, you should explore other options because at the end of it all I still need to get her an exam. BTW- how I know they did not do a full exam, her paws were not checked nor was her hygiene (teeth)....and she has an extended nail on her back left paw that looks shes giving the middle finger, there was no mention of that. These people ripped me off and I suspect they are ripping you off too.
I was blown away by District Vet at Brookland. From start to finish, it was a fantastic experience, even for someone with a cat that abhors a veterinary office. The office is exceptionally clean, spacious, and they even have refreshments for owners and pets. The front desk staff is incredibly friendly, communicative, and efficient. They were also really upfront about pricing well before I arrived, and there were no surprises at checkout. Even though I had to wait for my appointment, they kept me up to date on why they were running behind (emergency situation with another client) and I was immediately shown to a private room when I arrived so my cat didn't have to deal with the scary sounds of the lobby. I took my cat to see Dr. Teich for a regular checkup and a last minute concern about my cat's bathroom habits. Dr. Teich was straight and to the point, clearly knows his stuff about cats, and I was really impressed with how he handled my grumpy, rage-filled cat. He picked his battles with my cat, and since he couldn't get into his mouth to check his gums, asked for me to send a picture the next day. I did so, and Dr. Teich immediately answered back and said all was well. Overall, I really appreciate the communication, the expertise, and the obvious care that this entire office has for pet owners and pets. I would highly recommend this vet!
This was our first time going to a vet in DC. My cat was due for his annual visit. The first thing I noticed was a full snack bar and very “hip” atmosphere. This might appeal to some but I was disappointed at how un-pet-friendly it felt. Sure there were dog treats on the counter but what office doesn’t have that? Anyhow, all of the staff were polite so I was willing to overlook that. We went into (what seemed to be) a cat-specific exam room and the tech did her thing. I was told the vet would be in soon. My cat has now disappeared under the leather chairs in room. Leather chairs and cat claws don’t mix. Also, the exam table had all open storage which would be so tempting if my cat wasn’t freaked out already. Regardless, it was a bit of a mess. The floor was dirty and my cat somehow found a wet spot (no I don’t think it was urine). 30 minutes later the vet shows up. I dug my cat out from under the chair and the vet does her thing, then takes him in his carrier to the back room. I wait. Next thing I know he was delivered back to me and I’m at the front desk being charged $125.. in addition to the $70-some I was already charged to set the appointment. I mean, I expected to pay more that I was used to but nearly $200 for an indoor only cat seems a bit high. Needless to say, I will be trying a different vet next time.
I’m getting tired of new policies that seem to make their life easier but don’t consider the customer. We have to medicate one of our dogs with over 6 pills per day. Some of those pills are federally controlled so I can only get 30/month. I can only refill on the 30th day beacuse of these rules. So if it takes me a few days to get to the vet for the prescription I am out a pill for every day I can’t make it. No big deal, these pills only keep my dog alive by preventing seizures. Not to mention I have to plan travel to avoid these narrow refill windows. Or hope it doesn’t fall on a weekend. It was already a hassle to get the vet and the pharmacy to attempt coordination. Now the vet won’t even try. Paper perscriptions only because there have been errors when calling them in. Way to ‘correct’ a problem and create a new one. Whats a few more trips to the vet a year to pick up a piece of paper? Only a $20 Uber each way, each time. Only an hour of my day. I’m pretty sure this is an ownership thing vs a veterinarian thing as they have done stupid, short-sighted stuff like this before. I like the vets and care but I am really close to finding another place because of their business practices and the fact that they place their own convenience over the well-being of the customers and their pets.
I've been taking my dogs to District Vet for two years, and they have 100% earned their five-star status. They have a practice full of friendly, no-nonsense vets who have always given our two dogs (who have had a variety of issues, from recurring bacterial infections to inexplicable allergies) the best care. They are not alarmist but are very practical and do what needs to be done. All of the vets have been wonderful, but Dr. Hassell has left a particular impression on our family for his wealth of knowledge and willingness to go into detail for me. I've also never felt like I'm asking too many questions (which I definitely always am). They usually have appointments available fairly quickly, especially with the Eastern Market practice now open too, so you should never need to go to the emergency vet. The front-office staff is also very helpful, which is the first time I've ever experienced that at a vet. For example, I just called to get my younger dog's rabies certificate, and it was in my email inbox before I even hung up the phone after a 10-second call. I recommend District Vet to all my friends whenever they get pets or are looking to switch. I've had a number of bad experiences with other DC vets and not a single one with District Vet. They really are the best.
I took my pets here several times. My dog is sick and I took him in. He got medicine and the vet said to call if he didn’t get better. After 10 days of him not getting better, I called back in for help. The receptionist told me to send an email and wouldn’t leave a message for the doctor to call. I send an email and wait for a call back. After 48 hours, I call and ask for a response. The lady who answered asked if I wanted a call back from the doctor and I said yes. They had not read the email before I called because she indicated in the notes. I still had no call back after several days. I called back myself and said it’s an emergency now because my dog is sick. They said they can make an appointment for me but it would be 3 weeks. They put me on a cancellation list. All I wanted was to be called back by the doctor. What’s so hard about that? I doubt District Veterinarian Hospital cares about pets. My dog is very sick and you just say make an appointment instead of calling me back to figure out options?! Then you say an appointment is 3 weeks away and good luck. Find a different place to take your pet. They don’t care. Also, I would like a refund on the medication that did not work. Why is the answer to prescribe medicine that doesn’t pertain to the problem?
I cannot speak highly enough about this Vet Hospital. They are truly the best. My 17-year-old cat was sick and I took him to four different vets but no one could figure out what was wrong. Dr. Walker was friendly and spent a lot of time with me asking questions about him to determine how to test and treat his illness. She and her team discovered a tumor no one else had noticed and while it was terminal, they were beyond kind and gracious. They always talked through all my options, gave realistic advice, supported my choices, and gave my cat the best treatment I could have asked for. When I had to put him down Dr. Walker let me bring my family into the room, gave me as much time as I wanted and let me hold him for the procedure. They even sent a signed condolence letter in the mail from the entire office. On top of their excellent service, their office itself is clean, well managed, has good reading material and free snacks. The office hours are great and having been to a number of different places in DC I can say with confidence that their prices are very reasonable. I have since gotten a new kitten and of course the only place I want her to go is District Vet. Again, the entire team is amazing and absolutely worth your time and money.
Dr. Teich is one of the most gifted veterinarians I have ever met and I strongly recommend him to all pet owners in the DC area. I had the fortune of having him care for my dog for the first time three years ago, and since then both my dog and I have looked forward to visits to his office. Within minutes of first meeting my dog, Dr. Teich sat on the floor with him and took as much time as necessary to calm my anxious German Shepherd before proceeding with the checkup procedures. I advised him that my dog was adopted from a local rescue and was particularly sensitive about examinations of his hind quarters. Instead of suggesting a muzzle, Dr. Teich adopted for an approach to build a bond with my dog, and the trust my dog exhibited toward Dr. Teich was rarely witnessed with other veterinarians. Dr. Teich is truly gifted and has an uncanny ability to put dogs at ease so that they trust him and feel comfortable in his care. Dr. Teich gives freely of his own time and has always been extremely responsive to phonecalls and emails. Pet owners in DC are extremely fortunate to have someone of his caliber looking after their beloved family members.
Anastasia, the vet tech who was there to help us during our cat Moo's recent dental surgery, deserves a glowing review. From the moment we arrived at the clinic, her warmth and professionalism put us at ease. She patiently and thoroughly answered all of our questions, alleviating any concerns we had about the procedure. Anastasia kept us updated on Moo's progress and made sure to follow up with us afterward, providing essential information on post-surgery care. Her communication and genuine concern for our pet's well-being were truly exceptional. Her dedication to her work and her compassionate approach made a challenging situation much more manageable for us. We can't thank her enough for the care she provided to Moo and the peace of mind she gave us. Her professionalism, expertise, and genuine kindness make her an invaluable asset to the clinic. We are grateful for her outstanding service and support during this time. Thank you, Anastasia!
Although going to the vet is never a fun or inexpensive experience, District Vet has made it an enjoyable experience for us. Our dog, Fonzi, is always getting sick or injured, so we have had a more than an affordable number of visits in the past two or three years. Each time we visit, we are greeted in, and a doctor quickly meets for our appointments with little or no waiting room time. Every doctor I have met (three so far) has been very friendly and knowledgeable. I have never second guessed their opinions or thought they were trying to upsell me, and I can tell they have a grave concern for our pet. District Vet seems to handle most situations that are not emergencies but I have called in an emergency, and they gave us sound advice and recommended us to visit a nearby, and trusted 24-hour vet. Our Fonzi is still alive and doing very well and I have no doubt that District Vet is responsible for his good health. Thank you!
This place has really gone downhill. They quoted me a price to get a blood pressure reading on my dog. I made an appointment and at check out, the price mysteriously went up over 40% and they really couldn't explain why. I understand some things are estimates but it's literally reading a BP machine, and this happens every single time I go. It's always a bait and switch on the costs. And then to top it off, they refused to tell me his BP reading before I left. They said the Dr would call me when she had a break because techs can't tell me the number on a machine for some reason but the doctor didn't call. When I called back late in the day to try and get the results, the receptionist was rather short with me and not very empathetic that my dog's whole surgery schedule is dependent on the results of this test. So unfortunately after years of being a customer here, I will not be going back.
I can’t speak to the quality of care provided, but I can say based on the carelessness of the scheduling staff that I would never take my pet here. I called several weeks in advance to book an appointment for my dog, gave the person all the details they would need to get previous vet records and schedule an appointment. I never received a confirmation after I got off the phone which I thought was odd. The day of the appointment rolls around and I call to confirm the appointment. The person tells me they have nothing scheduled for my pet, with no explanation or apology of how this happened. The person offered 2 other times for me to come in; however I had already scheduled my day around a specific appointment time and if the clinic can’t adequatley schedule an appointment I wouldn’t trust them providing medical care to my pet. Go somewhere else.
From the 1st visit (after I adopted my cat) to the last visit (when my cat passed away), District Vet has been very helpful, professional and responsive throughout the 7 years I dealt with them. Dr. Hassell and the nurses seem to genuinely care about their furry patients- I always felt my cat was in good hands. The front staff are usually friendly and proactive- meaning they make sure all customers have been taken care of or they’re cleaning the hospital. By the way, the hospital is always clean and in good condition. When I email them, they always respond. I never had an issue with them. If I ever get another pet again, I’ll definitely go back to them. They even work with the cremation place so you can pick up the ashes there instead of driving 2 hours way.
We met Dr. Teich when he was practicing at another (very popular) vet practice in Logan Circle. He is so outstanding we followed him when he opened up this new practice even though it was farther away from our home. He's great with our dogs. He makes whatever conditions or problems our dogs are having understandable to non-medical people. Explains treatment options clearly and his prices are so reasonable. We have had older dogs for the most part over the years, and especially like that he takes a more conservative approach to treatment and diagnostic tests. Every little bump and nodule doesn't need to be biopsied on a teen-aged dog if it isn't bothering them, and he helps us figure out what tests and treatments make sense given the age of our dogs.
We brought our puppy here for the first time since adopting her. Dr London was super helpful and answered all of our questions and gave us a lot of great advice. We wish we would have known the COVID policy ahead of time that they don’t allow the pet owners inside at all. Instead, they have you call to let them know you’re there and then give them your pet at the front door. The reason for -1 Star is that the parking lot, grass, and sidewalk leading up to the vet were all covered with trash and half eaten food. There were half eaten chicken wings all over the parking lot which is not fun if you have a puppy or any animal for that matter. I’d recommend that they talk to the property management company about trash cans to prevent that.
They are probably one of the better vet offices in DC. I use to see Dr. Walker with my first dog (my dog passed away some years ago) and my experience was amazing. I now have a dog and cats and no Dr. Walker. I will say the prices seem to have gone up a little and service down a little. There seem to be more services/costs added on, to the point where I’ve spent an extra $100 - $200 on who knows. I hate to complain about prices because their service is still better than other offices that cost the same/more and the vets are nice. Front desk staff are always great! I’ve visited so many other vet offices (due to having an elderly dog with issues) in DC with my first dog, and this is the only place I’ve been happy with.
My two dogs go here. One of them is named Abraham, he is a three year-old Redbone Coonhound. He had heartworm and was treated here very well. Thanks to District Veterinary Hospital, his heartworm is now gone and he still loves to run and play! My other dog is named Stork, he's a sixteen year-old maltese and is very strong. He has had his teeth pulled out because they were rotten as he was a stray for a very long time, he has had two intestinal blockages, multiple tumours, has been run over by a car, and is a cancer survivor! He has been in remission from cancer for about a year and a half. District Veterinary Hospital has given him checkups and helped him a lot. He is very happy now and loves to cuddle.
Dr Dan and Jennifer were awesome-- it was so great to have them come to our house and check out our two cats, Ben and Zeina. They got to see them in their home environment and helped us with a number of questions we had. We've had the female for 10 years and the male for 2 years. We have to keep them separated because the male always tries to attack the female. We talked through a number of possibilities and decided to try a prescribed application to their ears for 60 days. I was impressed with how Dr. Dan and Jennifer work together and how well equipped and well prepared they were when they arrived. I think their rate was reasonable too. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM AND PLAN TO GO SEE THEM NEXT TIME.
We’ve been coming to district vet since we moved about a year ago, and they have been fantastic. The front desk, the techs, and the vets are all amazing and very friendly. Our dog absolutely loves coming here and is so excited to walk in the door. We had our dog fixed here as well and it was a smooth process. The veterinarians were patient and kind as we brought our dog in multiple times due to some allergies and infections. They always listened to our concerns and came up with different treatment options when it felt like nothing was working. We are moving out of state and will miss the doctors and staff. I would highly, highly recommend!
Phenomenal first-time experience. Picky about vets, been spoiled with good ones in the past and was told there are not many to choose from in this area. So happy and relieved to discover District Brookland. Was struck by the combination of two things -- sincere kindness and clear expertise, exhibited by both Dr. Jordan and LVT Anastasia. Genuinely kind people, lovely with our cat, with a high-degree of well-communicated proficiency. Also, refreshingly transparent about pricing and necessity treatments versus "lifestyle" luxury treatments -- no up-selling and clear distinctions made. Grateful to have found our new vet!
I brought my kitty in because she'd eating something she shouldn't have and was sick. They took me in right away I hardly had to wait. The vet was very professional very caring, the veterinary surgeon spoke with me, worked out a plan and everything turned out great....she did not need surgery. They took the time to explain things to me, they took excellent care of my kitty. The office is very comfortable and the administrative staff who also very caring and calmed me down when I first brought her in and was so very worried. I enjoyed the experience even under the trying circumstances. I totally recommend it!!
I was recommended to Dr. Teich by a friend who's a vet tech at a different area animal hospital and he definitely lives up the the good word my friend put in for him. I took my dog to District Vet for the first time today and was very happy with the experience. Dr. Teich is knowledgeable, friendly, and took the time to make Lyra comfortable in the office. The whole staff really cares about the animals who come in their doors. I didn't feel rushed and I didn't feel like I was sold anything unnecessary or overpriced. I will definitely continue to go back for all future vet visits.
Great Vets, but rude vet techs and terribly incompetent office staff. I’ve had nothing but problems from the office staff from wrong prescriptions being filled, or not called in at all and then being hung up on when I was standing at the pharmacy asking the office manager to call it in, to unprofessional arguments their staff were having in the lobby with clients sitting there, to improper instructions on medication and food. This location is seriously the worst. Go to either the Eastern Market or Navy Yard locations if you want quality medical attention for your pet.
If you choose to go here, make sure you confirm with the staff multiple times before going what you need to have done. The communication between staff seems to be so poor that we were constantly fighting with them to do what we had agreed on. For multiple visits, I emailed and called to confirm what we needed and no one seemed to know what was going on every time that we went for the visit. And that was after 6 visits. The staff was friendly for the most part, but the level of organization was so low that we were constantly frustrated. I do not recommend this place.
Absolutely love this practice!! The staff is amazing and extremely caring! Had an emergency with my cat. I called them before they opened to see if I could get an appointment. They called me back as soon as someone was in the office, and I was there within 20 minutes of them calling me. Dr. Dan explained everything that was going on, and I never felt like I was being left out. They have a parking lot, and they are walking distance to the metro. I absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a vet in DC!
I first met Dr. Dan Teich many years ago when I brought my two dogs to him while he worked at another clinic, and I have seen him in action many times. I appreciate that he takes the time to get to know the pets as well their human companions. He truly listens and cares about all of his clients, and he doesn't rush through issues just to get on to the next patient. I am glad that he has moved into his own practice, and still take my dogs to him to this day. I honestly could not recommend him enough.
We’ve been going to District Vet for many years and every time I feel so much love, but we’ve just moved to Brookland and started going to the brookland location and it feels like your walking into a dear friend’s house- every single person there welcomes you with a smile, and our vet tech Kristen truly made the visit for me and my elderly, very nervous dog. I can not sing any more praises for District Vet, the whole team, Dr. Dan, and Kristen being two major rock stars!
The staff was very friendly but I took my 2 senior dogs to be checked out with existing issues but ended up doing test and blood work which was over $600 and never addressed the existing problems now need to find somewhere that can help us with our senior dogs problems that isn’t so expensive I’m on a fixed income and care for my pets health until they pass on. I miss Petworth Animal hospital excellent animal care without the fluff and unnecessary exam charges.
Staff are amazing. My pup took a turn for the worse out of no where. His body failed due to cancer discovered in his GI. I was not prepared for departing from him so quickly but the District assured me I was making the right decision. They made such a horrible time very comfortable and as good as you could. I want to thank them as I’m sure putting dogs down can wear at the soul, but we appreciate you all for ending the pain and suffering of our loved furballs.
I found this place looking for a vet accepting new patients as my vet retired during COVID. Nice facility with convenient parking. Staff seems friendly and the doctor knowledgeable. They have an online portal for convenience. Not the cheapest place ($90 nonrefundable deposit for exams when you make the appointment and i have 2 fur babies), but hopefully with the rise in popularity of pet insurance, some costs can be absorbed. All in all, a good experience.
So, so, SO expensive, with no discussion or even options given for people who aren't able to afford their care. Anywhere from 3-6 folks at the reception desk doing... what? Talking to each other? I had to follow up repeatedly to get any information on my pet while they were in hospital (did not get the calls I was told would come). The internal medicine vet that eventually saw my pet was very good, but I hope to never need to come back here again.
We have been taking our dog to District Vet since he was a puppy, and we couldn’t be happier with what we’ve experienced over the last 4 years. We’ve seen multiple vets, and they have all been friendly and extremely helpful. The front office staff is always kind and competent. They’re usually able to work us in if something comes up that is worrying us. Our dog loves his visits to the vet! They also have great covid policies in place.
I absolutely love this place! Not only do they take amazing care of my cat, but they care for their employees as well. As far as I can tell, they have been taking excellent precautions since the pandemic started. The vet gave me a very detailed explanation regarding my pet’s care, labs, health status, etc. Shoutout to the front desk for giving me advice when I couldn’t get my cat to take pills!
They are simply the best. They are friendly and pet lovers with amazing follow up an spirit to help. We are moving from DC to Hong Kong (which has one of the worlds most strict rules for pets) and they helped us during the whole process.. from buying a microchip they don’t manage (ordering one just for us) to hundreds of certificates. Can’t thank enough y the whole team. Highly recommend them
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Lin and all the techs and staff I interacted with! Everyone was so sweet and caring about my pets, I had time to just chat and ask questions about their behavior with both the tech and the doctor, and we all left feeling very comforted and cared for. It's probably not the cheapest vet, but it is worth paying for quality care.
The staff at District Vet are kind, warm and sharp. Dr. Teich will spend the time during an appointment to get to know your dog and any issues it may be having, and the appointment doesn't have the rushed feeling like it does at other vets. Dr. Teich was also able to correctly treat my dog's eye condition on his first try where 4 other vets before him had failed.
I come here a lot and the staff and the doctors are really nice and take good care of my cat. Where they can improve is their organizational skills. I sometimes come in and no one notifies the vet techs that I’ve arrived after I check in. Sometimes no one responds to my emails. Sometimes multiple people respond to my same email. Other than that I am very happy.
Don’t bring your dog here untrained and unlicensed surgery going on here. Completely rude and unprofessional I called asking for a booster and was told I can’t call because they were doing surgery I ask aren’t you the receptionist she responds yes but I’m doing surgery I have a phone in my hand I don’t know what was going on but I will not be bring my dog here
Every staff member is friendly and pleasant, regardless of how hectic things are at the office. Scheduling appointments is easy over the phone or online. I had previously brought my pets to Dr. Teich when he worked elsewhere and was happy to see he had opened up this veterinary practice. The Brookland location is easy to get to and very bright and spacious.
I love the staff at this clinic. They are so friendly and professional. They took such great care of my dog and they kept me informed of everything that was going to be done to my dog. My dog doesn't go to anyone, but she was willing to go with the staff at the clinic. That told me that we were at the right vet. Thank you for taking such care of my pet.
Dr. Teich and his team take amazing care of my dog! We never feel rushed during an appointment, and my dog gets the individual care that he needs. He is not an easy patient at all, but Dr. Teich has kept him healthy and happy over the years. The new hospital is stunning and spacious, and parking is super easy too. I can't recommend District Vet enough!
This place is very responsive and cares for your pets like if it were there own. I have brought both of my cats here for annual checkups and to have chips put in. My cats are indoor/outdoor and I've never had to use the chips to help find them but it did give me piece of mind agree they implanted them. I would highly recommend these vets.
The vets and staff at the clinic are fantastic. My dog is very difficult especially when I was not allowed to go inside with him due to COVID. They were all so compassionate and understanding and worked with me to make sure he got the best care. Also, the waiting room and exam rooms are very clean. I highly recommend this place.
District Vet Brookland is amazing! They were the only ones who had appointment available when I was a new puppy owner and I have been taking him there ever since. They have always been patient, kind and considerate and my puppy loves going there too. Everyone is very responsive and thorough with explanations and appointments.
District vet was awesome! I was in a jam (my own fault for missing a travel deadline) and they went above and beyond to take me on short notice and process all my international travel docs. Friendly and helpful staff and clean office (with dog and human snacks)! Prices are in line with the other vets in the area.
I have a cat name Frankie about two years ago he cut his paw on some glass there was blood everywhere his back paw was almost hanging off. We thought he would loose his leg Dr Teich repaired his back paw . It was amazing Hes walking around now as if nothing ever happened. We love you District Vet …
We have had several different vet services over the past decade and the District Veterinary Hospital exceeds all of them in service and quality of care. We have enjoyed our service there so much that we still commute back to the city for service even though we have moved out of the District.
District Veterinary has been with me, first with my aging shipoo several years ago when I moved to DC, and with my Shih Tzu puppy now. They helped with end of life activies and new puppy wellness (during a pandemic). I recommend District Veterinary Hospital to everyone who asks.
The staff is the best, they don't overcharge or force you into extra items. Such comfortable space for the dogs with rugs and couches- feels homey and not like a sterile vet office. Parking, snacks and drinks for the humans, and convenient hours- this is a great place!
Dr. Teich is AMAZING!!! He is incredibly brilliant and kind. He is able to diagnose problems when other vets could not. He made our visit well worth the hour-long drive in DC traffic! I'm so happy that he is treating my furbaby. Looking forward to our next visit.
Dr. Tripp, his vet tech, and the front desk staff were all wonderful, helpful, and answered all my questions as a nervous dog mom. Contact with the office prior to the appointment was also easy and straightforward. Would recommend to all my pet parent friends!
My Wife and I took our Foster Animal here, the Staff at the Front Desk were very personable and thorough. However the other Staff, walked passed me as if I was invisible. I used to work Customer Service, it's critical to acknowledge EVERY customer you see.
My two cats just had their annual well check here and we had an absolutely wonderful experience with Anastasia and Dr. Raftery. They were both so kind, thoughtful, and thorough! Will definitely make sure to schedule with them both for all future visits!
Took my senior cat in to get a cough checked on. I found it to be a clean, comfortable office with very friendly and helpful staff and vet techs. Doctor Walker was very warm and knowledgeable. This is definitely going to be my DC vet office from now on.
First off it’s pricey and recommended test and food for my cat that ultimately sent him to the rainbow bridge. I always felt like they were more concerned about money, not my cat who I miss daily. I believe test and services could have been better.
I can’t say enough nice things about District Vet. I tried other practices in DC and none live up to District Vet. The vets are all excellent in terms of substantive knowledge and bedside manner. And, the staff is so incredibly friendly and lovely.
Had a great visit this morning with Dr. Walker for our dog, Lucy. Routine exam, friendly techs. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the facility and the warmth of the personnel. Ample parking on-site, which was a plus. Great experience, overall!
I brought my newly adopted kitty here and the staff were great. I've even called them since that visit to ask for help on how to get my cat to wind down at night so she's not so crazy at 3am. The tech who answered was really nice and helpful too!
I recently took my Saint Bermard to see Dr, Dan for a leg injury. He showed nothing but true compassion and professional service through the entire visit. He staff is wonderful as well. I would recommend Dr,Dan and the Vet Hospital to everyone.
Hands down the best vet clinic in town. Been going to see Dr. Teich for about 9-10 years now. Him and his staff are so wonderful and compassionate, not to mention patient and flexible. My dog can be quite the demon and despite that, I have
I brought both my cat and my dog here for sick and well visits. The vets and vet techs here are all so friendly and kind! It's obvious how much they love their patients. They are also very good about answering questions/addressing concerns.
Very attentive and compassionate vet practice. Appointment started right on time and both the technician and the vet listened carefully to what I had to say about my 10 year old dog. They reassured me that it was a wait and see situation
We LOVE District Veterinary Hospital in Brookland. They are always so friendly and the entire staff is amazing. My Luna loves Anastasia (and her little Luna too!). They are like family and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for Luna’s care.
Vets and techs here take care of your pet with utmost care and attention. Due to COVID, only pets are allowed in, but the wait was reasonable as well as cost for the visit. Also, much much shorter wait times compared to other places.
I took my dog to get rabies shot and they suggested that I should give my dog another shot but I don't really know what the shot was for and all I know is that my dog is not been the same after the visit. Wouldn't recommend this vet.
This crew is outstanding! They get it and have created an amazing culture (from the examination room design to their bed side manner) for their patients and the families that love them. Love, love love em!!!! Dr. Dan rocks!
What can I say about the AMAZING place. Friendly...Check, Clean...Check, Know what your Furr Baby needs to feel calm and Happy......Check. Seriously if you need a vet in the NE Brookland Area in DC give this place a Try.
We've been coming here for years and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. My dog doesn't like vet visits and resists going to get his shots but the staff exercise patience and extreme care with him. Thank you.
My dog and I love this place. The staff is excited to see him when he has an appointments, and they take great care of him. The staff is friendly and they love the pets. Good hours and prices are fairly reasonable.
I drive all the way from VA to bring my fur baby here. They are the absolute best. The offices are super cool, the doctors are personable and knowledgeable and the front desk staff is kind and flexible. 100 points!
Friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. Over the past five+ years District Vet and Dr.Walker have been taking care of our elderly pet. We could not be happier nor more grateful for the quality of care they provide.
Same day appointment for my cat during an emergency when all the other vets in the city wouldn't do a same day appointment. The staff is nice, the place is clean and well kept, and the pricing is clear and fair.
Staff are amazingly friendly and welcoming. The veterinarian that we saw (Dr. Jacobson) was great and non-pressuring about an elective vaccine. Truly appreciated the general kindness of staff. Highly recommend!
We’ve been bringing our dog here for a little over a year. We’ve always had great service from everyone. Our dog is comfortable and we’re happy with the communication we receive from the vet and staff.
I take both my dog and my cat here. We've been coming here for 2-3 years now, and have really liked it. There is a parking lot, which a lot of other vets don't have once you get further into the city.
Ms. Malynda was efficient was the information rendered especially to me as a first time dog mom giving me good tips and FAQ answers leaving me better equipped to make sure my Nibby remains well!✅
This place is fantastic. A tad more expensive than others, but you definitely get what you pay for. They have wonderful customer service and show great care and compassion with our furry family!
Excellent Veterinary care. Friendly staff and highly knowledgeable doctors. Parking is very easy and accessible to the clinic. I was VERY happy to find this practice for my Pug and Frenchie.
Absolutely amazing experience. My poor baby was sick and they worked quickly to get me in and out on a holiday without charging Insane amounts. We will definitely make this place ours.
My dog Kiba absolutely love coming here. He loves to try and hang out with the receptionist and vet techs. They are always very kind to all of our pets and we greatly appreciate them.
We’ve had dogs since 1996, and I rate Dr. Lin and District Vet at the top of the pack. Amazingly smart, she takes the time to explain complex medical issues and has earned our trust.
Jiggy, my dog had to be euthanized yesterday. He loved going there. He was very ill and treated like a king. I love how they made his last day beautiful. My thanks for all they do!
The staff are super nice and my dog doesn't even mind coming...it can just get quite pricy. I feel like there is something new to pay for everytime we come, but it might just be me
Very spacious new facilities. If you live nearby, it is much more convenient than other vet offices close to downtown. Staff is professional and helpful. Overall great experience.
Helped with a variety of strategies to help my cat with her digestive issues and kidney disease. Pleasant offices and private waiting rooms to make the experience less stressful.
Great covid policies in place (socially distant pet hand off, consultations by phone), wonderful front desk team, and the best cat vet I've ever had. Shout out to Dr. Hassell!
Very easy to make online appointments. There’s also a small parking lot for the plaza that it’s in, and if that is full, there is street parking available not too far away.
The customer service here is amazing. They remember every dog individually, and always do follow up emails or calls after appointments. Love them and so do our pups!
Really cant say enough about this place. My dog is basically alive and well because of them!! Great facility and amazing vets tech and front desk all around ☆☆☆☆☆
The only place I'll take my girls! Dr Dan is the chihuahua whisper. He is patient and kind and more importantly is patient and kind with over protective owners!
We absolutely love District Vet. The vet is so good with our dog, Alfie. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this veterinary clinic!
Very caring, highly knowledgable staff. They clearly love and understand animals, as well as relationships between human beings and animals. Highly recommend.
They take excellent care of my puppy. Appointments run on time. I get follow up emails from to front desk to check in on him a day or two after the visit.
My pup loves this hospital. Charlie is an attention seeker and speaks to everyone there... Staff are extremely warm and caring. I highly recommend them..
they were so great with my cats uzi and jade, they gave us our own room and everything was quick and easy. they also send a follow up email checking in!
Friendly and attentive staff. Great doctors. My pet felt very comfortable on the first visit. I also like the fact that the location is perfect for me.
Awesome neighborhood vet. So grateful to have Dr. Dan and team so close to home. Love the flexible hours and laid back atmosphere of the office.
