Walked in and waited at the door for 5 minutes before even being approached by a worker. He told us we could go upstairs if we wanted (we didn’t know there was an upstairs). So we went up and got seated. The ambiance is very nice and decorated. Our server didn’t come up until way later but he said there was a miscommunication between servers so no big deal. He was very kind and made us feel welcome, but food and drinks did take a long time to come out, despite the restaurant being really empty at the time we were there. And we plowed through our chips (which were a tad over salted) given we were hungry and he never checked on us for a refill until our food was out. Salsa was great though! We ordered and split the chicken fajitas, and a chili con queso appetizer, which came with a plate of rice, beans, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, and pico. Starting with the positives: that fajita chicken is some of the best I’ve ever had. Juicy and flavorful- it’s a cut up breast. The onions were nice and seasoned/caramelized. Queso was good. However, the tortillas were a bit hard. The beans were way too seasoned. I don’t know how to describe it but it was just too much spice and not even in a hot/spicy way just overwhelming mix of flavors. The rice was also very salty. If you came here thinking it was going to taste like your local authentic Mexican, it’s not. There’s so many flavors, which is a good thing, until they go overboard and add too much of it or over-salt. I’m not completely dissatisfied with our visit. It was our anniversary so I did have high expectations for the night, but I wouldn’t come back or recommend it to a friend, given the price point ($27 for fajitas and $8 for that small bowl of queso)

My recent visit to Dos Bocas Atlt left much to be desired. Despite plenty of open tables, the host made us wait for 10 minutes before seating us at a table that was already available. On a positive note, the Fountain House Margaritas were enjoyable. However, when I expressed my disappointment with the tortillas, describing their stale taste and plastic-like texture, the waiter simply shrugged it off, mentioning that they were likely made either the night before or earlier that morning. The Gumbo that was served had a noticeable burnt flavor, as if something had been burned at the bottom of the pot, which affected the entire soup. I appreciate that the waiter removed it from my bill, but it was still disappointing. Additionally, when I requested water with lemon, it was initially brought without straws, and I had to remind the waiter about the lemon. Although the tacos were accompanied by good rice and beans, I found the chicken to be mushy and overcooked, lacking the desired texture. It seemed that the kitchen was not at its best during my visit. I ended up settling for a taco due to hunger, as I had plans to visit the aquarium and was staying at the hotel above. However, had I not been famished, I would have considered walking out. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I will not be returning to eat here again.

The tex-mex and Cajun fusion works way better than it should! The tortilla chips are house made and very good. The guacamole was also very tasty and had fresh Pico de Gallo on top. We went for dinner again this year and got their shredded beef enchiladas de casa and the smothered beef burrito. They were amazing! The salsa verde is nothing to sniff at, but we definitely preferred the red sauce on the enchiladas: it has a smoky baked taste that is incredible! The smothered beef burrito is also amazing and is a 'wet burrito', so rather than eating it like a wrap, it's drenched in a smokey sauce, and you eat it with a fork. 100% recommend, and not too expensive either!

Our waitress was amazingly accommodating with the type 1 diabetic in our group. She provided celery to eat the salsa & guacamole with instead of chips, and made sure that she had food that she could eat. She also checked on several menu items and exchanged sides for ones that she could eat.

Pleasant surprise! This is in the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown, so I figured a hotel associated restaurant would be mediocre. Not so. Phoned in my order for takeout, the hostess who took my order was helpful and friendly. As I walked in the restaurant was filled with a delicious Mexican aroma. The food was ready quicker than promised, and they handled the transaction at the hostess station, instead of at the bar like some places do. I hate the bar/bartender route, so I was glad they did it that way. I had the hard shell beef tacos, they were delicious. The corn flavor and texture in the tortillas was unsurpassed. Beans and rice that came with it were perfectly seasoned. I also had a Lone Star Margarita, it was strong on the tequila content and tasty. My daughter had the Nachos Picadillo and the Monterey Bowl. She enjoyed both. The Nachos were loaded and plentiful, again more than I expected. A very satisfying meal. Uncommon to order 3 items and a drink and have every item be so good. Every aspect from ordering to eating was better than expected. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, it is worth checking out. Just finishing my drink, strong tequila flavor from beginning to end!
I dont leave reviews often but tonight I had too. Tonight, my husband and I tried Dos Bocas for dinner. We are staying at the Omni Hotel and it was a recommendation for Mexican food on the restaurant list they provided when we checked in. Husband and I went and were immediately seated and served by Jeff. Jeff was absolutely outstanding and he was incredibly observant and attentive. We got the chili cheese queso for an appetizer and added ground beef in it and it was SO good. For the entree, I got the three enchiladas with the ground beef and rice and my husband got the fried Cajun catfish dish. Both dishes were delicious and my husband loved his (which being at a Mexican restaurant the seafood could be hit or miss) but this place was an exception. My enchiladas were seasoned to perfection and I’m currently 5 months pregnant and I can’t eat certain foods and I had no issues. Definitely will visit again and will try and request Jeff if he is there because he was great. We are both visiting from out of town and will gladly visit again if in Atlanta again.

This place came recommended on a couple of websites for tourists visiting Atlanta. I’m not sure if they were just having an off night but this was not a good dining experience. They don’t take reservations for the main dining area so it was a 45 minute wait. This was somewhat understandable given it was a Saturday dinner time and there was a huge cheer convention happening Downtown. All of the staff seemed extremely stressed & overwhelmed. Once finally seated, we got margaritas which seemed to have little to no alcohol in them. Our meals were okay - I got the blackened catfish and the “sautéed veggies” were completely raw. My friend got the gumbo which she said was not great. We were all so hungry we just ate without complaint. But the real issue was that my mom, who got the chicken tacos, got food poisoning later. She was sick all night. I think this place needs to seriously consider doing a reservation system since they clearly didn’t have the capacity to keep up with the walk-in demand. Would not recommend.

The food and the bartender are easily the highlight of this experience, well besides the great location. My immediate recommendation would be to improve the experience at the hostess stand. The young lady was not welcoming at all. She looked at me and my friend, grabbed two sets of silverware and proceeded to walk towards the dining area. We weren't sure if we were supposed to follow or wait until she returned. So she topped and looked back towards us and we too walked towards the dining area. We sat in the bar area and that is when things took turn and in a good way. The bartender (who told me his name but I have since forgotten) was super personable and knowledgeable of the menu. His suggestions were spot on! We had the Chicken Toluca and chicken tacos. Both were pretty amazing and seasoned to perfection. I'm definitely going back for the Chicken Toluca.

We stopped in for an early dinner. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait, even though there were plenty of tables open so we chose to sit at the bar. This restaurant use to be Legal Seafood. The chips were light and crisp just the way I like them. The salsa, however, needed some work. It tasted like straight tomato sauce. I ordered chicken tacos. The hard shells were fresh and the chicken meat was not dry at all. They could have used a bit more flavor. The charro beans and rice were ok. I've had better. The regular frozen margarita was a bit on the tart side. There was more lime flavor than anything else. The taco plate was about $12. They need vegetarian options. My friend had to order thr chicken fajita quesedilla without chicken. There were like 3 strips of bell pepper on them. She also had a gnat in her water. The bar tender replaced the water.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn where Dos Bocas is located. The service was excellent and the food was out of this world good. We started with a margarita and a beer. Then ordered chips, salsa, & guacamole. Three out of my four family members had the chicken tinga quesadillas and my 7yr old had the beef tacos with fries. These were some of the best quesadillas that I’ve had. They were out of the beef or we would’ve tried that. The waitress said it was even better than the chicken. The manager came around a couple of times making sure everything was going good and even made sure to tell us to have a great evening on the way out. I can’t say enough good about this restaurant. We felt that it was fairly priced for what you get. We couldn’t eat everything and left super happy about the experience. I highly suggest checking this place out if you’re in Atlanta.

The manager was always there and very helpful. We arrived at street level with a stroller and he directed us to the elevator. Then he directed us to the restroom when I was looking lost. I also loved the mix of Mexican and creole options. The food was very flavorful and my toddler loved it too. Highly recommend this place and it is right next to the Georgia Aquarium!

This is a new restuarant added to the centennial location around the Georgia Aquarium. The hostess was great she checked on us serveral times. The food is a mix of Louisiana Cuisine and Mexican Food. I loved the Mardi Gras theme that the restaurant had with beads and also a menu that Tailored to the Mardi Gras theme. The seasonings of the food was kinda off I felt like it was missing some things. It tasted like it was only seasoned with Salt and Pepper. I order the chicken and jambalaya. The rice was over cooked and soggy. The shrimp was undercooked. I also order the beignets which was pretty tasty. The drinks was okay and wasn't that strong. Overall I give it a 3 the food could have been better and service was good. I like the idea of a blend of Mexican with Louisanna flare just missing the proper seasons would have pushed it to a 5 star rating especially for $65 including tip.
Long Wait, overpriced, terrible food. Had the smothered burrito, it wasn't smothered, and was only about 3 or 4 bites and the beef was so dry I couldnt even cut it. Flavor was ok, but nothing to write home about. Tried the chicken Tocola, good flavor, tough chicken. Then had the Chicken Zydeco. If you do unfortunately find yourself here this would be my recommendation as the chicken was fried, tender, and full of flavor. The Mexican rice that comes with most items can be a little spicy and has a kick to it. I enjoyed it, but my Midwestern family did not. Service was extremely slow as we waited 30 minutes to be seated and nearly an hour and half for our food to come out. The manager apologized to us for the delay but did not adjust the check. I was the only one who finished their plate due to the small portion of the burrito.

Use the hotel's elevator and get off at the 2nd floor. Food is excellent. They always start you off with fresh-made tortilla chips and salsa that make the store-bought version pale in comparison. BTW, the upgraded queso salsa is worth it! Filling, but leave room for mains. On three separate nights, had enchiladas, shredded beef tacos and mixed beef/chicken fajitas. My favourite was the beef tacos, but fajitas are a close second. Save space for their light and fluffy beignets. Worth it and shareable if you are full from mains! Service is friendly and prompt with over checking. Ambience is not quite but also not loud. Would eat here again when in ATL.

Rude staff, no host to greet when the restaurant is dead. Went to ask the bartender who was on her phone ( texting) if we can sit anywhere or need to be seated by the host. Told us to sit anywhere then began to roll her eyes cause she was too busy on her phone texting while wearing her gloves.. Went to the table and waited but no one came to give us drinks. The restaurant is dead but your that lazy to give out water.. Never again and for anyone wanting to eat here, save your money. McDonald's has better service than this restaurant and I'm from Fayetteville NC. Time we went is 8:54 date Mar 18 2023. If the manager can see this and see who's on the schedule.

This place has potential but a long way off. Atmosphere is really cool although the music was too loud in the dining area. The dining area was mostly families with about 50% of the tables with younger kids. Service was VERY slow. Our server was very nice but not sure this is the job for him. Very slow, no sense of urgency, and forgetful (we had to ask for the check and then he forgot that he didn't come back for the card...). Ordered a Lone Star Margarita - very sweet and just okay...at $14 a rip-off. The food had good flavor, but once again 3 tacos for $16? And there was literally about a table spoon of meat on them... Guys, seriously, you have a cool place and the menu is fun...train your staff and don't be so stingy with your overpriced food.
The service started off great. But we were being served by the bartender, and when they got busy, we got ignored. I ordered a beer right away, but then had to wait the entirety of my meal to get a second. The salsa, while very flavorful, seems jarred or canned. It's like a puree, not chopped up tomato style. Everything was extra salty. And to be fair, I do enjoy salty. But not having a refill or quicker drink service, I was left very thirsty. The food was all ok. Pricey for what you get, but it's more the location. I don't know if it's a chain or single location, but I would probably try somewhere else next time.

Waiting staff was excellent, super polite, and couldn’t have asked for better. The food just simply wasn’t good. I ate the enchiladas verde because it wasn’t awful, but the rice and beans were awful. We left so much food on the table because we just couldn’t stomach it, and I’m typically someone who NEVER wastes food. The rice tasted like industrial kitchen cleaner with seasoning mixed in. My wife got the fajita, and the meat was good, but the onion and peppers were AWFUL, I couldn’t tell if they just weren’t cooked properly if they had something on them that ruined them. Genuinely some of the worst food I’ve ever got from a restaurant, and it was expensive too.

It's a chill, family friendly bar-like atmosphere upstairs where we ate. My 2 picky kids loved the food here! Ordered them a simple chicken quesadilla to share and they devoured it. Waitstaff was kind and courteous.
Stay in the Hilton Garden hotel recently and noticed this place was right in the hotel on the first floor. I ended up going on a not so empty stomach and just ordered and shared a quesadilla with my girlfriend. It was so good. And it was massive for the price. Definitely worth it, especially with all the fresh ingredients. I told the waitress we would be sharing it and she brought it out for us on separate plates which I thought was pretty nice. The drinks were also HUGE. Definitely worth the price with those as well. The chips and salsa to start out were just great. Chips were hot and fresh and just overall hit the spot. Definitely a good location especially if you are staying at the hotel.
The food was pretty good, but one of bartenders wasn't very knowledgeable at all. Horrible old fashion that took 15 min to make. Next time I ordered easy drinks and we were charged 2.95 for the slash of club soda and coke to our spirit. That's ridiculous. I wouldn't have returned but we were staying at the hotel, so proximity won. My second visit, I stuck to beer. It was a different bartender who was way more timely and seemed to be more knowledgeable, but my 1st experience scared me off.

Place was pretty good! Biggest pro was the cast iron chicken, it was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection, tender with a nice crust and still moist inside. Service was great as well; waitress was energetic and very accommodating. My only complaint would be that I found the rice and beans to be a bit underseasoned. Other than that, it was an incredibly enjoyable experience ^-^

This place is awful, the service was slow. With the exception of how fast they dropped the bill at our table. I asked three different times for a water refill, once to an actual manager. The manager even ghosted me on the water refill. I've had better beans from Taco Bell, than what this place served. The rice was undercooked and dry. My son's beef tacos were greasy. I was so upset and just overall disgusted, that I went outside with my children while my wife paid the bill. Please don't go here..... Do better Dos Bocas

Came here with a friend, the view was nice and the food was pretty good as well. Sitting upstairs at night does allow the aquarium display screen to blast your eyeballs out though, so be warned! We got the crawfish etouffe and quesadillas for appetizers. Maybe I don't know what etouffe is supposed to taste like but it was a little bitter. The quesadillas and dessert were excellent though! Our waitress was super friendly, we had come in the back stairs and she told us to sit wherever we wanted, service was quick and food was delicious. We had a good time at Dos Bocas! Everyone was friendly- we interacted with the hostesses, Jeff the bartender, and the Manager. Service and food/drinks were just as expected. We ordered chips and salsa (the salsa was excellent; it had a little kick to it... the chips were hot out of the fryer and salted to perfection), bayou shrimp with romelaude sauce... there were so many I couldn't finish them all, nachos (my friend said they were the best he ever had), and a hurricane- I finished every last drop. We will definitely be back!

The food was decent yet it is the service that makes this review! In particular the management, which should in fact be the very back bone of a restaurant and in of themselves a reflection of the restaurant as a whole. All I ami can say about this experience is disappointing! Not only did we experience mockery and playground gossip drama, and lack of work ethic among staff was beyond embarrassing. Fully functioning adults acting like children. Sad. I advised you if you value your time to invest it somewhere else!

I was in Atlanta for a memorial service and arrived on my flight late in the evening very hungry. My friend and I were looking for dinner and decided to try Dos Bocas. We ate delicious Mexican food here with lots of flavor! The atmosphere is also very cozy and welcoming. Our server was super friendly, she went by “Z” and she made our experience the best! I ordered Chicken Fajitas and my friend ordered tacos. The complementary chips and salsa were sooo good we ordered a second bowl. It was all delicious and when I return to Atlanta I would definitely return here! Highly recommended!
Went there because of the good reviews. The communication between the hostess was not good. We had 3 different hostesses telling us to just wait on another table. Waitress was very nice. The food was not worth the money. Beans were over seasoned and made with celery. The salsa was really good but the queso tasted like the lunchables nacho pack cheese. The silverware needed more scrubbing. Overall, we will not be going back.

Very convenient to go from the Aquarium parking to the restaurant.
Food was comfortable but not memorable. Servers left tables full of dishes, tables with trays of dishes, and food on the floor. The large amounts of available ketchup made me curious how my enchiladas would turn out. I could/would recommend any other place within walking distance unless you are exhausted and just need comfort over a memorable food/dining experience. Additionally the blinding lit signage at the adjacent aquarium was enough to give a sunburn

Horrible Mexican food. If you are Hispanic you know about Mexican food and what we had today was not it. Beans seemed from a can, the tacos had no guacamole which is usually one of the ingredients. The meat in it was tasteless too. My husband’s plate was blacked chicken which was extremely over cooked and supper dry and his beans even though different from mine has no taste either. I only gave it two stars because the waiter was friendly. Don’t eat there you’ll get sick to your stomach.
Awesome food. We found this place when walking and decided to try it out. They have a tex mex Cajun menu with complimentary chips and salsa. We had the chicken enchilada and shrimp creole with a side of jambalaya. The portions were huge. The jambalaya was superb and full of flavor. They do not have a lot of seating and you might encounter a wait, but the food is well worth it. Highly recommend

If you’re looking for Mexican food this isn’t it, not even Tex-Mex. Most of the food looks and tastes like it came out of cans: the beans, the rice, the cheese, and the ground beef tastes like what would go in sloppy joes, not tacos, the salsa that comes with the chips tastes like marinara sauce. The chicken and the enchiladas were very salty. The staff is friendly, but the food is overpriced.

The only excellent thing was the attention of the waitress who served us, polite, helpful and attentive to our table.

The bartender's attention was very good, the bad thing was the hostess. we arrived at 8:15 pm, she told me that we have to sit at the counter to order food because the kitchen closes at 9 and there will be no servers available for us. She did the same with another couple that came in, but at 8:40 pm 6 people arrived and the hostess seated them at a table. That is unfair to all customers.

Have had better Mezican food at Taco Bell. The rice was dry and overcooked with no flavor. The beans were watery and tasted very much like what I assume cardboard does. The tinga chicken enchiladas had no smokiness to them and there was almost no chicken in them. Waited 20 minutes to get my first glass of water, another 20 to have a waiter return to take our order.

The food, margaritas, service, and management were all so amazing here! I have been here multiple times over the past few months with family and friends, and each time everything has been great. 5 stars! :)

6/16/23-Amazing eatery! There is a wide selection on the menu. Wonderfully attentive wait staff proving excellent service. Sizzling steak fajita’s and a smothered burrito were enjoyed. A salute to Benjamin for this wonderful visit.

I didn't enjoy my Mexican food here. I got the enchilada Verde. The tomatillo sauce was bland and sweet and the chicken tinga tasted like it had no sauce at all. On the other hand, my friends who got the Cajun dishes (gumbo and fried catfish) thought it was very good. I also found the draft beer prices ($6-$8) to be high.

Two stars only for the service which was excellent. Diamond was a very nice and kind server. The food tho? Tex Mex is a far reach. More like grocery aisle Mexican flavor envelope food. I had the birria burrito and it was beef mixed with a sazón seasoning envelope and some blended pepper. Does that sound like delicious birria? No. Lost my appetite when I saw it tbh and forgot to take a picture.
Amazing! Great service and even better food. I had the Cajun Fried Catfish melt in your mouth delicious. My friend had the Bayou Shrimp perfectly cooked. Everything is fresh and delicious. Will definitely be coming back.

Very mediocre Mexican food. The salsa was like tomato paste rather than fresh tomatoes. The prices were very high for what you get. The tacos were just okay. The beans were good but the rice was not great. Walk a couple blocks and find something better.

Waited about 45 minutes to get in and food wasn't that great. They give complimentary salsa and nachos. There was a hair in the salsa. The chicken dish was okay. Not worth the visit. Venture further from the aquarium.

The food was ok, nothing spectacular but good. The restaurant was clean and easy to navigate as well as comfortable. The service, however, was excellent, the young man that waited on us could not have done better. I would go back for that reason alone. We considered our experience a good one.

It’s so hard to find good food here in Atlanta but this is my favorite so far! I got the Shrimp Creole and Esquites the best!! Sangria was drowned in ice but I’m driving anyway so that’s fine.. chips was amazing with great flavor and the salsa was almost perfect it just had one pinch of salt too many overall I’ll definitely be back!!!
Food wasn't the best the fajitas was chewy but the drinks were the highlight for me, and customer service was good. Overall it was okay for the most part.

The atmosphere and food was amazing! Our server Z did a great job. She was very attentive and made our experience memorable! The food had an authentic Mexican taste. However, if you like quantity over quality, this place may be pricey for you. We will definitely return next time we're in the area. The fajita deluxe was our favorite.
Excellent restaurant! I sat at the full-service bar and had a very tasty Hurricane and some delicious jambalaya. The staff was friendly and a manager even stopped to introduce herself and ask me what I was reading (I was by myself) and we chatted about books briefly. I would definitely make a return trip next time I'm in the area.
We were pleasantly surprised by this place! Our server was great and the food was fantastic and bursting with flavor! We highly recommend it! Don't miss out if you line Cajun mixed with Mexican. I got the skinny margarita and really enjoyed it! We also split the veggies, jambalaya and red beans and rice. It was alllll delicious!!
Update review 3/1/2020 - Napoleons Ave Shrimp still amazing! Finally held off long enough to update post with pics! Got the Seafood (Shrimp & Lump Crab) Cobb Salad again too! Yummm! Excellent service as always. The Napoleon Ave Shrimp and Seafood Cobb Salad are sooo tasty! Make sure you sit on second floor for the awesome view!

Attempted to place a take out order and was turned away. Apparently, I was the incorrect race. The party in front of was seated (5 mins) difference and we were told rudely the kitchen is closed and there is no more food. I came to visit from out of town and was treated like trash.

The food here is not good at all. The best thing was the chips and salsa. We asked our waiter for cheese dip and guacamole, it never came. We also asked for some drinks, they also never came. He didn’t bother to even once come and ask if we needed anything. Terrible tasting food and terrible service.

We stopped by last minute…..took only 5 mins for a table. The salsa was Awesome. We got two kids meals and a plate of Nachos. The fries on the kids plate we AMAZING. We ordered a side of fries and the manger looked like he wanted to keep them for himself. We would definitely go back.

We just stopped for drinks but the food carried through to other parties looked good! Our bartender was very friendly and kept the nice warm tortilla chips and bowls of salsa coming. There was really good local (right across the street) craft beers on tap, also.
Not too bad for a hotel restaurant. Pretty limited Tex-Mex/Cajun menu, but the tequila selection kinda makes up for some of that.

We went here on our last night in atlanta and I did like this place. This place looks modern inside and the service was amazing. I got the burrito de birria which was delicious! Overall I recommend this pace to anyone looking for a place to eat in atlanta.
