Blondes beware!! Over the past several weeks (June 2023) I’ve spent a total of 15 hours at this salon for a job that was scheduled to take 3 hours. After an in-person consultation where a junior stylist told me that she could definitely do the job (highlights for roots plus fixing my ends that had turned a green hue due to pool water), I went back another 2 times to try to get her mistake corrected. They toned me a total of 5 different times and throughout the course of two weeks my hair went from a dark swampy color to brassy to orange to the final product which is still not right. I showed them many reference photos of both the salon’s previous work and my hair a few months ago - both bright blonde - and they either didn’t listen to me or didn’t know how to do their job. After the second appointment where my hair was turned orange, the master stylist stepped in and attempted to correct my color during a third appointment. Instead, she put low lights in that are stark and streaky and absolutely not what I had asked for- she made the base is even darker than my natural roots. I showed her reference photos many times of bright blonde and what she did to “fix” the job by the junior stylist looks terrible and nothing like what I wanted (see photos of the process + my references). I asked for a refund at the end of this whole mess because after spending so much time and having my hair over processed with all of the correction attempts, I wanted to get my money back and go to another salon. Unfortunately, the salon wouldn’t refund me. Now I am left with very dry, discolored hair. As someone who has been to many different salons for color and had great outcomes at all of them, I confidently warn people against this one. It was by far the worst salon experience I’ve had and not once did they own up to their mistakes. I wish that the salon had been honest with me upfront as it would have saved both of us all of this time and worry. In response to the the salon’s inaccurate reply to this review: I was told that their junior stylist could do the job well when I came in for a consult. Furthermore, within 3 days of the initial appointment I reached out and specifically requested a senior stylist to fix the job that the junior stylist did and the salon told me that they would put me back with the same junior stylist who proceeded to mess up my color again. I have this all in writing. This is when the salon offered the help of the master stylist outside of their 7-day guarantee policy because they knew they had messed up twice by that point and needed to fix it… which they still didn’t (see photos of all the different iterations - none of which are even close to my references). The salon’s reply to this review is very defensive because they know they messed up here and couldn’t even get it right in the end - the proof is in the photos. Very disappointed.

El 14 de noviembre les escribí para asistir a un full balayage en color gris, me citaron para el 6 de diciembre y todo perfecto. Comenzamos el proceso, y la verdad súper bien hasta el momento del enjuage del decolorante, ya que por la técnica que utilizan hicieron muchos nudos y al momento del cepillado fue muy doloroso, y yo solo pensaba que aguantara ya que comenzaba a ver a Natalie muy apurada ya que a la par que trabajaba conmigo llegaban otras clientas y no quería ser muy inconveniente. Dejó a una de las chicas que les ayudan a que me siguiera desenredando y fue ella que me preguntó si me dolía el cuero cabelludo y al decirle que si me colocó agua más fría para relajar y masaje. (Agradezco muchísimo su intervención) Ya después me dijo que **sí había perdido mucho cabello al desenredando** pero lo bueno era que tenía muchísimo cabello y no se iba a notar…… El tono del gris/azul la verdad se ve muy poco, solo de las puntas y un poco del frente y a dos días me sigue doliendo el cuero cabelludo, me es muy incómodo cepillar. Creo que el problema fue el estrés que comenzaban a sentir ya que mi cita fue a las 2 de las tarde y a las 8 yo seguía ahí, y entiendo el cansancio pero verdaderamente al final ya me era muy incómodo y solo pensaba en ya salir. Ojo, yo creo que son amables y muy buenas en tonalidades más rubias y en cabellos cortos, desafortunadamente mi experiencia no fue la mejor.

For anyone who is trying to "go blonde" or actually any color have no hesitations, run to Natalie! I would like to say that when it comes to blondes or in case going from very dark burgandy to blonde, Natalie is the best & I can say this with full confidence! She does a great fully comprehensive consultation first & explains everything very well. I am so grateful for how truly fantastic my hair color turns out whenever she does my hair. Blonde or otherwise. She is the best! Also, I would be remiss if I don't mention what wonderful long layered haircut & keratin treatment Marlo has given me!! Thank you both so much!! You are fantastic!! My hair feels like silk; something that I was very concerned about was how the condition of my hair would be after having a chemical processs. My hair condition is actually in better condition than before the color, looks & feels great!! Looking forward to our next appointment! When it comes to my hair, I am like many others very particular. So pleased to finally find a colorist I can trust (especially when it comes to color, blonde or otherwise)...I only trust Natalie..."my head is in your hands"!

I normally don’t leave reviews, but this place exceeded my expectations in the best way possible. Omar was so helpful and accommodating…he was able to get me an appointment with Natalie (for color) and Marlo (for cut), manicure and pedicure with Raquel and a massage with Ara. My hair color turned out incredible. Natalie did a fantastic job explaining everything she was doing, and I felt confident in her hands. Marlo really listened and catered my haircut around my specific needs. Both stylists educated me on how to best care for my hair afterwards (Definitely went above and beyond for me). Raquel made the best manicure and pedicure I’ve had in Mexico City (and I’ve lived here a long time). Ara is SO good. I’ve had a lot of massages in my life, and she is right up there with the best masseuses I’ve ever experienced. Purchased a massage package and will be back. I can’t recommend this salon enough. Highly professional and attentive and most importantly, the outcome! Such a pleasure

I was really excited to come to the salon for a cut and balayage — they do have great reviews — however coordinating an appointment was terribly painful. I scheduled my appointment via an app. When they reached out via WhatsApp to confirm, they got the time and date wrong. When I reminded them of the initial time and date, they said that the time was taken, but I could come earlier that morning. I confirmed. When they messaged me later that week to confirm, they mentioned they only had time for either the cut or the balayage and asked me to change again. If I would have confirmed this last changed appointment, I would’ve waited over three weeks. I ended up frustrated and declining another reschedule. I believe the great reviews from other people and the place looks cute, but if you’re looking to get booked hassle free I’d be cautious.

I'm staying in CDMX for a couple of weeks and needed a color touch up. A friend recommended Dos Flamingos. I cannot say enough about my positive experience at this salon. Everyone was welcoming and professional. Michelle is amazing. I didn't have my formula and she took the time to review options with me. We decided on the color together (this was a first!) and she was spot on. She's listed as a junior stylist but delivered a master experience from color to wash to styling. They also sell Aveda products, which is a bonus when you're traveling the world and don't always have access to your favorite brands. I highly recommend Dos Flamingos Studio & Spa if and when you're in CDMX.

Aussie backpacker here. I came to Dos Flamingos with a shocking grown out balayage and was very nervous to be trying out another foreign salon. Michelle (their junior stylist) did an AMAZING job - I paid about 290AUD (around 200USD) for a full balayage and a treatment. Left with amazing, seamless balayage and perfect face framing highlights. NB: There was a small miscommunication when I booked in at the salon. I asked for a "trim" as well as my colour but it was lost in translation. Make sure you book in for a cut even if you just want a trim

Fantastic experience! I recently moved from Austin to CDMX and needed a new salon; my previous stylist is an Aveda-trained professional who recommended I look for an Aveda salon in my new city - I'm so glad he did because Natalie (an Aveda-certified talent) cut my hair with precision and flair. I left elated with the shape of my curls and the sharpness of my undercut. The vibe at Dos Flamingos is 100% professional and fun. I will be adding this salon to the list of wonderful things I'm grateful to have found in my new home city.

I've had my haircut twice here now, and both times were great experiences. I have curly mixed-race hair (3B/3C) so it can be difficult to find a stylist i can trust. Maye is absolutely fantastic! i don't speak a lot of Spanish, but the receptionist was able to translate for me. She did a great curly cut with layers recently, and about a year ago she did a haircut, blowout, flatiron and style. Will definitely be back again. Thank you!

No puedo comunicar lo linda y profesional que Maye es!!!! Mi cabello es súper chino y rebelde y vine a un tratamiento humectante y corte. Maye me escucho lo que buscaba y me dejo totalmente nueva! Pensé que tenía peluca cuando terminó su trabajo. Es extremadamente detallista y vuelvo a decir súper profesional. El personal completo te recibe cálidamente y el salón es muy bonito en una área de la ciudad que nos gusta frecuentar.

I must first say that the staff is extremely friendly. They really look after you and make sure you feel comfortable, offering you drinks, explaining the treatment well etc. But I sadly have to say that the Keratin treatment they did on my hair was super disappointing. My hair looks worse than before and it's not straight at all. It might be the product that they used but nonetheless wouldn't recommend this place for Keratin.

From the moment I made contact for an appointment to the payment at the end of my haircut, I had great service from Dos Flamingos. The front desk receptionist was extremely professional and friendly. Yesenia gave me a great consultation, shampoo and haircut. I felt she took her time with my thick, naturally curly hair and gave me exactly what I wanted. I can highly recommend this salon- and I am a retired stylist myself!!

Great Aveda salon! Yesenia gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. Incredibly thorough and she talked me through the best options for my hair. This would definitely be my permanent salon if I wasn’t temporarily here. Highly recommend to everyone, but especially any English-speakers looking for a salon while visiting CDMX as multiple of their employees spoke English.

I've been here twice and had awesome haircuts both times from Natalie and Marlo. Will definitely return for a cut! Pricing is reasonable from my perspective for the quality of service/neighborhood. The fact that the owners are from the US is cool, as well as being wicked good with hair, they are both great to talk to and offer interesting anecdotes on CDMX life.

Best place for a haircut in cdmx! The girls are awesome, the dog is friendly, the cuts they’ve given our whole family have been by far the best we’ve gotten down here (NYC quality). They’ve got a great selection of aveda products that can be hard to get in the city. We’ve definitely found our spot (now they just need to open in Polanco!)

I was travelling through CDMX and needed a haircut and booked here on a whim. I had my hair cut by Natalie and she was so skilled and thorough. One of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. The new salon space is beautiful, the whole team were working so efficiently. Whole experience was excellent and would absolutely recommend!!

By far the best salon in CDMX! These ladies are experts and will make you feel BEAUTIFUL. My blonde highlights were done with precision and so natural (rescued me from a terrible dye job), and my cut and style was everything I needed for a night on the town. The staff is so knowledgeable and make you feel right at home.

Came in to see if they had any open slots for a blow dry. I got service super quick! Visiting from NyC so it was nice to get blown out which I never do. I have curly fine hair and volume and more of a natural movememt is important. Daniella did my hair and understood perfect! Super happy with the blow out!

Maye saved my hair. A stylist in Condesa butchered it with super blunt layers, uneven with a chunk of hair missing. Maye thinned it properly and fixed the layers. She was super professional. Very nice hair care products like Bumble & Bumble thank you so much. I will be back.…

We loved our services here. I had a wonderful massage and my daughter and her mom had amazing facials. This place is very professional, clean, bright. The spa can be seen right from the sidewalk. Great curb appeal. On a popular street in Roma Norte. The service was so welcoming. A++
