Six of us breakfasted here on a sunny Sun morning in August. We ordered a couple of coffees, two vegetarian omelets, a toasted cheese sandwich and avocado on toast. There were no complaints about the food or beverages. It was all fresh, tasty and nicely presented to the table on stylish white crockery. Ambience was busy, lively and energetic. This is clearly a popular breakfast spot for the locals. My only complaint though was the slow service. Whilst the drinks were brought out fairly quickly, there followed a 30 minute wait for the food items to arrive, and then they were brought out in dribs and drabs; one at a time. Whilst I appreciate that they were busy, I personally don’t enjoy sitting and twiddling my thumbs for ages while waiting for food to arrive. I find it a tedious and boring pastime, especially at breakfast (where you really expect things to move along at a brisk pace), so my suggestion to these guys is that they put on extra staff to cope during the weekend morning rush! There are reasonably clean toilets at the back: one for males and one for females. The location, near the corner of New South Head and Dover Roads is convenient, with a little parking area just behind, at the intersection of Ian Street, where there are no restrictions on Sundays. Alternatively, you can always find free parking in Dover Road a bit further up closer to Old South Head Rd.

Location: There's 2 hour free parking available in a little car park, less than a minute walk from here, in addition to Street parking available. No trains. A few mins walk from the bus stop. Ambience: Clean, comfy, modern feel. Staff: Efficient and attentive. Didn't get the feeling they love their work. Think less warm and fuzzy, more straight forward, blunt and efficient. The drinks and food arrived promptly. Menu: Good broad selection of sandwiches, all day brekky (pancakes, big brekky, porridge, fruit salads etc) hamburgers, soups (eg pho noodle soup), salads (rather impressive, think: crispy duck salad). Varied milkshakes, coffees, juice etc. Prices: Reasonable, around $10-25 per meal. Overall, we enjoyed a lovely pho and French toast. They have gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. Would say it's closer to 4.5 than 4, however only able to provide 4 or 5 star. Overall would recommend if you're in the area. I would definitely go back!

A decent Cafe in Rose Bay, that does everything it sets out to competently, if lacking any particular flair. The food is decent, although there is a tendency to be stingy, such as a shortage of holondaise sauce on the eggs benedict, and the smallest ramekin of maple syrup for the French Toast. Conversely, they are overly generous with other things like fruit, so in combination with the small size of the toast it feels more like you have a side of French toast with your fruit salad than the other way round. It's especially concerning that cold table drinks appear to all be served in disposable plastic cups, so the amount of avoidable waste produced is disappointing.

Awful awful lunch experience! Ordered the Thai beef salad. I thought this would be rather good given the chefs and staff are Thai. What was served was anything but. A paltry amount of salad consisting of 6 old, yellow lettuce pieces and 3 tomato segments (I kid you not!). Beef was ok - but expected much more for the pricey $17! My husband's Reuben sandwich was regrettable and virtually inedible. We had to go somewhere else to pick him up an alternate lunch. When I mentioned to the cashier our experience, she just shrugged it off. Will most certainly not be back!

i stopped halfway through eating my meal so i could write this… to say that this place is amazing would be an understatement. the food is gorgeous, the staff are lovely, the chai latte’s are perfect and the french toast was orgasmically good! i love how much care you can tell goes into the service and food and i can’t recommend a more wonderful environment, especially when you’re having a moment to yourself. :)

Coffee is good but only order takeaway. If you sit outside and order the coffee to stay at one of their tables you go to the very back of the queue and can wait 15-20 min. Even though you pay a higher price. The takeaway orders go first so prepare to wait. It’s a shame too because I would be tempted to order food, but not if I have to wait so long.

Very limited vegetarian/vegan options. Unfortunately after choosing a lentil salad was informed that it was sold out for the day. The waitress offered to have a salad sandwich on Turkish bread made for me which was kind. The sandwich was pleasant, coffee good and service friendly. Foods good and staff are nice however if you want a leisurely lunch dont go here. They have limited tables and it's a popular spot so tables are in high demand. The staff patrol to see who is finished their food and my plate was cleared as I was still chewing my last mouthful. I really dislike this as a principle for any cafe so I would advise going outside peak times if go at all

Shocking!!! Used to be great. Ordered poached eggs which were hard! When I questioned the waitress she said that it was how they cooked them here. The coffee was not what it used to be either. On paying - complained about the eggs - the man also stated that is how all poached eggs are cooked. After some discussion they took $2 off the $60 bill! Ummm recommend you go elsewhere!

Good menu selection, including some Asian noodle soups and salads. Tried the duck noodle soup and was pleasantly surprised as to the robust flavour of the soup broth and springiness of the egg noodles - hitting just the right spot on a cold spring morning. The coffee was good, unfaultable. The service was pleasant and efficient. Will return.

Dover Cafe us the best. Outstanding meals especially the salads, soups and sandwiches. All delicious and fresh prepared by Anna in the kitchen. Service is fantastic led by Amy and Jo. They are only to happy to accommodate dietary requirements and modify accordingly. Ideal for breakfast, brunch, lunch or even for coffee and snack.

Food was very very bland. Iced chocolate tasted like those powdery hot chocolate. They didn’t put the cream on even though we said we wanted it when they asked. Chips are super bland. The chicken burger was very bland. My Coke Zero was clearly freshly put in the drink fridge because it wasn’t very cold.

Beautifully run family business. Duck soup is to die for. Chicken dumpling soup also wonderful. Thai beef salad amazing. I have never been disappointed with their food and their gracious hospitality. If you live locally then you are the lucky ones! ❤ I absolutely love Dover Cafe Rose Bay

Poor service. A short simple order of three drinks only. The milkshake (which was nice) did arrive after a while, but it was then a 15 minute wait for the other two drinks (and then only when we approached the counter). Too much competition for you not to get the basics right.

EXCELLENT EGGS BENEDICT AND GREAT SERVICE! I searched Google Maps for breakfast in the area and came up with this winner. Highly recommend the Eggs Benny and the coffee was good, too.

This place really is great, good coffee, fast service, great staff and the food is great also. Much more up best vibe than Sonoma or other similar establishments and the staff seem to all be friendly with each other which is important.

Coffee was good, service prompt but food was bland and underwhelming. Turkish eggs were two poached eggs in a watery sauce tasting like it came from a Heinz baked beans can. Egg Benedict’s hollandaise sauce was meh.

The best cafe in the area because of the freshness of the food with a good menu range and friendly, warm staff. My faves are the pho soup with crispy skin chicken and the quinoa salad with grilled salmon.

The food is very ordinary...& the do not practice proper social distancing..They pack too many people into their shop & tables are not even 1 M apart...I will not go there again …

Coffee is good. The long black is very strong, which is good. No cream for coffee, only milk. The benny is quite good. Not a huge selection of breakfast choices.

Actually great food for a very fair price. They also look after you if you have children. Been there 7 or 8 times so far and they've never let me down.
