(Disclaimer: This review only contains information pertaining to the library and nothing else.) Students If you are a student and you need to study in perfect silence, this is not the library for you as you will need to focus and block out the noise of the gym and of the many children that attend. With regards to the closing times, it is perfect for a student as it does not close too late and it gives you enough time to study, if you plan yourself well. Other students may attend towards 3pm and are likely to leave around 5/6, so if they are making noise - pop on some noise cancelling headphones (if you need them to help you focus) and keep studying. The library does not have up to date resources, from the books to the computers, so please do not be disappointed by this. If you are a younger student there is a computer room that is beside the normal computer room, where you can study. Parents There is a reading area where you can rngage tour child in some fun reading, whilst having the luxury of keeping yourself up to date with the news, if you chose. Adults If you are whist an adult who is trying to learn, finding a table and studying sounds like a good idea, however when students come and start interacting, it can get quite distracting, especially because there is no area specifically indicating that there must be silent study. It is best for you to go to the library room and connect to a computer and study. The computer room is the advantage as it enables you to avoid the noisy conversations. There are also a conference room which you may opt for if you have a work project with your colleague. Places and Relaxation The cafe is down stairs making it easy for you not to have to go outside to purchase a bite. You may also go outside where you can relax, if the weather is warm, and take a quick break. Staff They are very helpful and will do their best to support you. They are honest and treat their customers with respect. For young people, they are on hand to answer some of your questions relating to your studies, if you need the assistance. For adults, they are on duty to help answer any of your computer questions. However, I respect the fact that if they are unsure they will be honest and find other routes to help answer your questions, if it is possible. Opening times It would be nice if the library could open earlier as it will enable early birds to get to the library and study. Overall, it is a good library on its own. Hopefully this review has been thorough.

Great library with friendly staff. My two daughters and I have been spending a lot of time here recently, hooked in by the excellent baby singing sessions. (Tues and Thurs @10.30) All the staff are always friendly and pleasant when we come to get kids books out. Getting new books out, staves off Julia Donaldson books for another week. However special mention should go to both Suzi and Jake, who were super helpful. I came into print out a document, and they helped me log on to the system and then walked me through the printing process. They even lent me a stapler!

Only good for a short time period studies. One is not allowed to eat down stairs. So if one is to come to read for long hours, it’s hard. If one goes for a break outside the library, your seat is taken and lucky you if you get another chair. It is mostly packed at most reading time in the afternoon weekdays and the weekends! Yes it has some good space and equipment but if u don’t like costa, then eat before coming to the library.

I've been coming here for ages for studying and books but don't really expect it to be quiet. If it isn't school-children using the place like a social club, it's the staff themselves having a chat about how little sleep they got last night or the English Civil War. Other than the fact that the library isn't actually as quiet as you'd hope it to be, it serves its other purposes. 4 stars :)

It's nice, but very small and not really a library where you can have quiet and privacy as it's just a secluded section of a a king of community centre. Not recommended for private studying or quietness but for social and printing and somewhere to pass the time .

It has been over way over 6 months since Downham Library has had a paying system. Unable to use my library card online or access Libby without paying my small overdue book fee. How can I use the Library without trying to correct this fee? makes no sense.

I give 3 stars because many of the computers are super slow. Its also small, so actually having somewhere to sit is often difficult. Staff are great and always helpful though. I prefer bromley library to be honest!
