We arrived on a Sunday morning, sometime around 10 or 11. The place was deserted. My partner ordered the scrambled eggs with bacon and I ordered the regular fried eggs with bacon and the American pancakes with maple syrup. All these arrived rather quickly, to my surprise as getting sunny side up eggs, scrambled eggs, two orders of bacon AND pancakes usually takes a wee while. We quickly found out why. The scrambled eggs were chewy curds of something indescribable served with two leathery slices of stripy bacon and lukewarm toasted bits of brown bread, and for some curious reason, they were served in a bowl. No salt and pepper on the tables, no condiments and not even butter. Kinda weird for a Sunday brunch, right? Pictured above was my order: the fried eggs with bacon and the "American pancakes with maple syrup". The egg yolks looked and tasted like they'd been microwaved instead of fried, we had to ask for salt and pepper and butter, which was unsalted. The pancakes were even worse: hard on the outside, half frozen on the inside. When I questioned one of the staff, she brought the plate back to the kitchen where I saw the chef literally stick those hard little flaps back in the microwave. I said "no thanks" and asked for a refund on the pancakes, which, to be fair, I got. Maybe they're understaffed. Maybe their chef quit. When we went inside, the place was empty and the only reason we were there in the first place was because Gruppetto was full and all the tables reserved. It's a shame. They have a decent looking menu. The location is great. There is potential. Just the way that the ingredients were cooked was horrible. I should have read the reviews first. Oh yes and their WiFi is WEIRD. It's supposedly free but a lot of perfectly innocent websites/search engines were blocked or inaccessible for no clear reason. And note to the restauranteur/owner: never, EVER, ***EVER*** call something American pancakes and serve it with Grade A dark Canadian Maple Joe maple syrup. It's an insult. Like serving a boiled Mettwurst in Luxembourg or putting blue cheese on a poutine in Montréal. If you're going to serve pancakes, they have to be made fresh and pick a better brand of maple syrup. You can get very decent maple syrup at Lidl, especially the Bio stuff. That liquid ink that was served in a tiny bowl next to the frozen powdered panflaps could best be described as pig treacle. I've had better breakfasts served at my college canteen. This was a car crash of a restaurant experience.

I’ve been to downtown 2 times and I will never go there again. The service is not at the level of a nice bar in the heart of luxembourg. First time I had a brunch and food was good, but I have been served a dish I didn’t order (that turned out being more expensive than the one I ordered and didn’t arrive). Since mistakes can happen I came back here a second time and this will be the last one. The restaurant manager was absolutely rude and aggressive. I arrived and wanted to seat at a table outside, but there was no room for the moment. I would have waited, but the waiter obliged us to seat at a small table with not enough room for moving your arms and eat comfortably, between the wall and an electrical pole. While showing us this table he cried on us to hurry up to seat, and even insulted us, stating that we were making other tables escape while standing and waiting. In that moment in fact, a woman with two kids had asked the bill and the manager accused us of making his clients escape. I immediately stand up and left the bar and once the madam had paid and left too I asked her sorry if she was feeling pushed to leave because I didn’t mean it at all. She looked at me confused as she was not even understanding who I was and sincerely said her lunch was over and I had not to worry because she was leaving on her purpose. Until that manager will work there or until he will be trained for being nice and treating professionally his customers, I will never go back.

It was my last day in luxembourg, & i wanted atleast a quick bite to eat before i leave, so i sat down ordered a basic downtown classic burger & a beer,( good beer btw ), and i waited almost 20 min. For it & it wasn't coming so I asked the waiter, & he'll check he said " maybe the kitchen forgot to cook it " & it was as it is, so i waited for nothing & just a beer, kinda left a bad taste for the restaurant, I am also from the restaurant industry( kitchen staff/ waiter) so i know how much time it takes for a burger & fries to be made Would i comeback, probably not in the busiest time they had, but it is what it is. I do feel bad for the waiter though it was only him controlling all of the tables, so he must have forgot as well tge order I had to leave because i still have to go to the airport. If i may suggest please let the staff be more vigilant in the tables that they have control of, & HIRE MORE STAFF

Necesito poner menos de una estrella Mala atención, pides, te cobran y no se les ocurre decirte que la cocina está cerrada hasta las 10 y vas a tener que esperar media hora por una tostada de aguacate hasta que te has acabado el café y vas a preguntar si se les ha olvidado que la has pedido. O pierdes el dinero o te esperas. Dicen: “no sé si lo sabías”. ¿Cómo lo voy a saber si no me lo dicen? ¿Ciencia infusa? Ellos deciden a quien atienden en la mesa y a quien en barra, dependerá de quién le cae bien al hipster del camarero. El café muy caro y no es nada del otro mundo: para probar buen café, id a Knopes al lado de Alima. Este es caro hasta para Luxemburgo. Si quieres comer bien o un buen café a precio razonable y no de especialidad, sin tener que esperar la vida y que te traten bien: Busca un exki o un paul o hasta el Brioche Dorée. Todo está cerca a pie.

Seeking a breakfast place without reservations, we came upon this just opened empty cafe. A good feed for a low price. We had the spicy chicken wrap (which was seasoned but not spicy, and razor hot), the smoked salmon benedict, stale bread topped with overdone poached eggs, tasty hollandaise sauce, and fresh cold smoked salmon. The waffle was a small serving with a small side of fruit and maple syrup. They have delicious freshly made juices. Unfortunately the Bloody Mary I had was not delicious. Service was lovely, and food was freshly cooked.

Service qui laisse vraiment à désirer. On reviendra pas. 45 min d'attente pour commander et autres 40 pour être servis. Le brunch demandé végétarien arrive avec du bacon, aucun commentaire ni aucune excuse de présentée. La qualité de la nourriture et service a vraiment baissé. Le bagel œuf était bien mais le downtown brunch, c'était la déception totale. Pas de tomates, un quart de radis et ce qui devrait être une salade de lentilles, c'est juste des lentilles sans assaisonnement. Aucun goût. Par contre si vous voulez compenser la mauvaise expérience, le messieur au bar est très serviable et le carrot cake est très bon. Globalement très passable et décevant.

Bonjour, Pour un repas de samedi en famille nous nous sommes rendus au Downtown café. L'ambiance et sympa. Le service et correcte mais pourrait être amélioré. J'ai trouvé un manque d'attention lors du repas, longue attente pour débarrasser, pas de proposition spontanée pour le café et les desserts. Mais le Downtown reste néanmoins une bonne adresse si vous voulez bitronomè en famille. Nota: les sanitaires ne sont pas top top niveau propreté et manque de papier donc prévoyez vos petits mouchoirs lol.

La nourriture était bonne et l’ambiance et le staff agréable, mais vraiment si on recherche un endroit où discuter avec ses amis et assez calme, ce n’est pas du tout l’endroit. J’y suis pourtant allée un vendredi midi avec 4 autres collègues, mais la musique était si forte qu’on ne s’entendait pas parler sans crier. La table qui nous a été attribuée bien que réservée était trop petite pour 5 personne prenant des plats. La deco est cependant super sympa. Je ne sais pas si j’y retournerai pour des repas de groupe, mais pourquoi pas en duo. Leur bagel au chèvre miel et figue est une tuerie!!

Una Decoración sencilla y llamativa al mismo tiempo con un gran Salón y Mesas en su Portal que impone un diálogo Constante de la Vida de los luxemburgueses. El Servicio es muy profesional que te invita a probar su Hamburguesas y Pasta aunque posee una gran variedad gastronómica. Un lugar que no puedes dejar de visitar en la Ville-Haute. Muy Recomendable.

Ambiance sympathique avec de la bonne musique qu'on entend mais tout en sachant se parler. Accueil et sympathie des serveurs génial. Bémol sur le service repas: trop long et problème entre la cuisine et le service. Brunch un dimanche pour 4 personnes. Le service était très agréable et rapide. Nous avons bien mangé. Un rapport qualité prix très bon ! C’était génial, l’embranchement générale est très agréable. Nous recommandons Petit point d’amélioration : améliorer la présentation du wrap halloumi ☺️

Je suis absolument ravi de mon expérience au Downtown Café ! Les bagels sont absolument délicieux - fraîchement préparés et généreusement garnis. Le service était super, avec une équipe sympathique et attentionnée qui a veillé à ce que tout se passe bien du début à la fin. L'ambiance du café est chaleureuse et accueillante. Si vous cherchez un endroit pour un délicieux repas et un service au top, c'est l'endroit où aller !

Restaurante en el casco viejo de la ciudad de Luxemburgo. Buen ambiente y decoración. Precios bastante accesibles y muy recomendado el Club Sandwich. Muy abundante y bien servicio con papas francesas. El servicio fue un poco lento porque estaba lleno. La pandemia con sus estragos pues muchos empleados son nuevos y con pocos experiencia.

I’ve seen a number of negative reviews about Downtown Cafe but I have to say my visit was a very pleasant experience. My only comment is they put enough toppings on my bagel that it was messy to eat, but considering the extra toppings it was worth it. We visited on a Sunday and it was very busy but I have no complaints about the visit.

Can’t comment on the food as I only had drinks but the cappuccino and juice I had were very good. Service was also friendly, attentive and professional. Would’ve preferred it if they had had oat milk as an option for non dairy drinkers but almond or soya was ok as an alternative.

I used to go there after work , one day i grabbed an ice cream on the way , i was siting outside and waiting to get a coffe the waitress came to me and said “you cant eat there” in the rudest way possible without asking anything else also one more time i was there around 19:30 normally they close at 20 : 00 she told me that they were closing and you cant sit . Same waitress.

La cuisine est de très mauvaise qualité. J ai commandé le crispy chicken Burger. On voit bien qu'ils veulent faire des économies car la viande de poulet était clairement reconstituée. Il ne veulent pas acheter de vrais filets. Mon amie a pris le bagel au poulet, même chose, poulet reconstitué. Le goût était immonde.

I had never seen a restaurant serving store-bought, sous-vide poached eggs. It was cold and tasted like plastic. That's a very lazy approach when you sale breakfasts and brunches. However, service was good and the waitress had it replaced by scrambled eggs.

Sehr nettes Café Bistro Bar, freundliches Personal. Wir hatten ein Sandwich zum Frühstück, welches glücklicherweise mit gutem Baguettbrot gemacht wurde. Das NY Bagel mit Ei und Bacon war leider ungewürzt und zu wenig getoastet. Den Earl Grey Tee konnte man geschmacklich nur erahnen. Vermutlich war das Wasser nicht heiß genug...schade in der schönen Atmosphäre!

I ordered a downtown brunch and my pouched egg was cold and in my opinion really small and too much avocado, but if you really like avocado it’s the right one. My husband ordered a double cheeseburger and it was reasonably good, wedges were a bit soggy. Cappuccino was good though

It’s not a good place to drink even a cup of coffee. I took a brunch (scrambled egg with avocado), it was not acceptable for me due to bad taste and poor quality the dish at all. Their staffs are not professional at all, when I was asking for some black pepper, you can see how did they serve some basic things in a restaurant… 100% not recommended…

il locale non è male, che può ospitare molti clienti, fesso che siamo stati sfortunati quando siamo andati noi in quanto per alcuni problemi della cucina di pietanze ci hanno messo un po' per arrivare ma il cameriere si è scusato prontamente. Ottimi sia gli hamburger che le loro insalate. Il locale accetta Satispay ed consigliabile la prenotazione

Had matcha latté to go at this place, liked it. But what I like more is the approach of the stuff - waitress was making coffee with latte art on a top of it. After she prepared the cup, she was not satisfied with the results and went for another try. It gave me an impression that she really wanted to make her work well.

Gans ok, aber nichts Extras, und die Getränke zitiere wir bestellten Aperol Spritz und ein Glas rosé, also beim rosé schien es uns als wäre die Flasche schon ewig auf gewesen, es schmeckte sehr bitter. Schade an sich, denn die Lokation hätte potential.

Die Bedienung war unfreundlich und es hat ewig gedauert bis man bedient wurde, die warmen Getränke waren höchstens lauwarm, der Cappucchino bestand hauptsächlich aus Milch, bestellte Sachen wurden gar nicht (Muffins) oder falsch gebracht (Getränke). Das Ambiente ist schön, ich würde trotzdem keinen Besuch empfehlen.

Lovely environment The food was pretty tasty, we had the eggs Benedict and American pancakes. I was a little disappointed with the pancakes as I was expecting for these really thick pancakes and they were quite small instead. Anyway I completely recommend and will definitely come back again.

Wir haben über 1 Stunde auf unser Frühstück gewartet und bedient (Getränke) wurden wir in der Zeit nicht. Für einfaches scrambled eggs mit beilage (siehe Foto) 7€. Und dann hat es leider auch nicht sonderlich gut geschmeckt. Preis-Leistung nicht gut. 1-Stern für den Kaffee, der war gut.

I had the downtown brunch with the avocado toast that was literally just a halved avocado on top of tough oil-soaked bread. No salt. Very difficult to eat. The “poached” egg was completely hard. I added one star because my companions enjoyed their food & the service was good.

Great bagels! I'd definitely recommend them. Also had the pancakes, which were delicious but I would expect 3 for this price. Good cappuccino, which comes as a large by default and is quite pricey at 5 euros. Also a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

The bagels are nice and good value. There are a few choices for kids on the menu. The atmosphere is ok although they could play better music than that noisy reggaeton. Their real issue is the service: chaotic and messy and slow and unaware, etc..
