I was very surprised by the negative experiences I have had at this practice as it seems like most other people who have left a review are happy with the GP's and service here. I came here a few times before and found the reception staff to be pleasant, however I have always found the doctors to be quite distant and at times even judgemental (perhaps owing to the practice's strong religious values)- with the exception of Dr. Vietri who was absolutely lovely both times I had seen her (I would recommend her any day!). My most recent experience: I had contacted the practice as I had some symptoms resembling COVID-19 and Dr Tredoux insisted on a zoom consultation. She briefly spoke to me, referred me for a test and prescribed a long list of medication for symptoms that I did not yet have (but might develop IF it was the coronavirus, such as nasal tablets, cough syrup etc). At that point my main symptom was an extremely high fever. My test results came a few days later and it was negative. At that point I had been flat out in bed for almost a week with fever fluctuating between 38 and 40 degrees, which is extremely high. I phoned the practice again to ask if I could be seen by the doctor especially since it was confirmed not to be the virus and I also expressed my concern about my fever. The receptionist refused to let me make an appointment, I would assume as per the doctor's direction, and just insisted that I keep taking the prescribed medication until i feel better- in other words she advised that I take the cough syrup and nasal tablets etc, despite the fact that my only persisting symptom was the high fever. At this point I was very worried and contacted another GP for a second opinion. Upon hearing about my symptoms he insisted I come in to his practice that same day, and ended up making an appointment for me at 17:00 that Friday afternoon in order to accommodate me. Turns out i had quite a serious infection and inflammation which had progressed to my kidneys due to being left untreated for so long, and I had to be put on two strong courses of antibiotics. He also phoned me first thing on the Monday to check in on my symptoms, and it was such a stark contrast to the lack of care I experienced when being treated at this practice. I generally found the doctors here to be extremely unavailable and there is always a reason why they cannot accommodate you such as they only work in the mornings or they have to leave early etc., which gives me the impression that their priority is not their patients at all. They are also unwilling to speak to their patients about questions or concerns they may have and all messages go through the receptionists, normally ending in a delayed or no response. Furthermore, I feel that it is not the receptionists' place to give uninformed advice like the instance I mentioned above. I do not believe this is up to the standard one would expect when it comes to healthcare professionals, especially given the cost of private healthcare in SA.
I brought my sick 16month to Dr Tredoux on short notice. She was so kind and very good with my son. She was tender - which made him feel calmer. Her knowledge of a toddler was great as I didn't know if she dealt with kids before. It was a great experience and would definitely recommend this friendly and professional practice.
What a lovely doctor!! Always willing to help, will go the extra mile with you to make sure you are healthy. Will always go there, my children love the DR A Tredoux!! Always on the mark with her diagnosis and treatments.
Organised and friendly staff. Dr Tredoux was efficient and thorough and made me feel comfortable. She's caring and attentive and that helps so much in building a patient relationship.
Dr Tredoux & the locums, I usually see Dr.Vietri or Kornhof & receive exceptional service.
Incompetent receptionist who has no empathy and makes getting an appointment impossible.
