On July 21, I had an appointment for follow up bilirubin testing at the Monarch Centre in Ottawa (a well-baby and maternal health clinic) for my 6 day old son, who had been quite jaundiced and was on the brink of readmission for phototherapy. While I was at this appointment, the nurse at the Centre overheard me talking to my family doctor’s receptionist (Dr. Raichura's office) on the phone, as I was requesting a refill of pain medication as a result of a traumatic birth six days earlier. I did not have enough medication to get me through the weekend and I wanted to avoid going to a walk in clinic with a newborn should I require pain relief. After I hung up with Dr. Raichura's office, the nurse at the Monarch said that they could refill it for me there, which was great. I was in a significant amount of pain from delivery (third degree tear), so I appreciated that I would not need to go to another location to get this taken care of. As a courtesy, I called Dr. Raichura's office back to let them know the Monarch offered (this is a key word here - I did NOT seek this out) to provide the renewal for me, so I didn’t need them to. She said okay, and hung up. About 10 minutes later, the same receptionist calls me back and absolutely chews me out. She said that because I "went behind my doctor’s back and went to a walk in clinic (this is not accurate) to renew my pain medications”, they were releasing me as a patient. I have never been more insulted in my entire life. First of all, I did not go to a walk in clinic. I was at a scheduled appointment for my newborn son to check his bilirubin, when I was offered a refill. Second of all, as a longtime patient of this particular practice, I was astounded at how they simply assumed that I was seeking narcotics behind their back before they even took the time to understand the facts. During this second phone call, I explained the situation - that I was at the Monarch Centre getting my newborn's bilirubin tested and they overheard me and offered to renew it. I was not at a walk in clinic getting narcotics. The receptionist replied she didn’t realize that. I said, "How dare you treat women like this, especially someone who is six days postpartum," and with that, she told me to find another doctor and hung up. Had this been identified as being grounds for dismissal at the point I informed her I was at the clinic and they offered to do it for me - had she said "this is grounds for dismissal, you should come here and do that first" - my decision to proceed with the Monarch's offer would have been different. My family doctor did not give me any indication they could fill the prescription - given it was Friday afternoon, I was concerned that I would not get the pain medication I needed for the weekend. This is why I happily accepted the Monarch's offer. The needs of a postpartum patient are far greater than a typical healthy routine patient. I am extremely upset that I have been left without care during this crucial period. I need more follow up and observation - not just for me but for my newborn who happens to have specific medical conditions - jaundice and a broken arm from birth. The receptionist and the doctor behaved in an unprofessional, unethical manner. Before understanding the facts they immediately jumped to conclusions about where I was and what I was doing. As a result of this unbelievable unprofessionalism and blatant misunderstanding, my entire family - including myself - a new mother - my newborn, my two year old son and my partner - are all left without a family doctor. Do not go to this clinic - they obviously care about one thing: money. Patients are a distant second. So upsetting and discouraging.
I had a terrible terrible experience with this doctor (Dr. Raichura), hear me out and then decide for yourself. I am a working mom, looking for a family doctor. I reside in Barrhaven and work downtown. During my search for a family doctor, I found out that this doctor was accepting new patients. For meet and greet I was given a time of 3 pm. He works in Lowblaws, and these days there is some massive construction that blocks off most of the parking which forces people to re-route in order to get to Lowblaws parking lot. Anyway, I take couple hours off work, take the public transit, then park and ride and get to his office. Pl. note, the closed off parking causes some delay. I arrive at the doctor's office precisely at 3.03PM and yes I accept I am late by 3 minutes. He refuses to see me, his excuse. I am late by 10 minutes. I look at the watch its still 3.07 pm, and this after I've given my health card and am past some initial formalities. A doctor that refuses to see patients because they are late by 3 minutes knowing the circumstances revolving around the office is clearly not working to provide service. Even if he is a successful doctor, I would never go to him based on my initial experience.
I have been a patient of Dr. Raichura's for many years and I am not easy to deal with because I have chronic pain and multiple medical problems, mostly stemming from a car accident years ago in my 20s. Dealing with chronic pain patients can be very frustrating for doctors and many times I have been dismissed, criticized, insulted or misdiagnosed. But Dr. Raichura and his staff have bent over backwards to be accommodating, thorough, helpful, empathetic and professional. I could not recommend him more highly. Although I certainly feel for some of the other posters who had negative experiences, I will say that I think some of those may have occurred due to misunderstandings about the protocol dictated by the Ministry of Health. If Dr. R is your family Dr., you can't go to a walk-in clinic, or be treated by another GP, without him being penalized in some way. He always made that clear to me. My experience is that Dr. Raichura is a truly dedicated professional and I sincerely appreciated having him at the helm of my medical team for many years (I just recently moved). I also love his staff - they have always gone out of their way to be kind and helpful.
I had registered to be a new patient in this clinic. When I registered, I told them honestly that I want to transfer family doctor because I just move to live in Barheaven that is really far to my family doctor. They said that there is no problem and let me and my husband booked an appointment with Dr. K. raichura yesterday November 21,2017 then we can be their patient officially. We came for the appointment; filled the history patient form and wait for the doctor. He was late. At begining, I already let him know that I want to transfer family doctor and he says ok with that; after I had told him what my health problem I get during this time, he refused to accept me as new patient. He gave the reason that his clinic just accept new patient who dont have family doctor, no transfer doctor. I dont know why he became a doctor. He doesnt help patient, he chooses patient. I had really bad experience with this Dr. I dont reccomend him.
WARNING! as far as words go to describe this "doctor" I would have to choose NEGLEGENT. I've been ignored and forgot about for months EDIT: the day before my prescription runs out, after a week or trying to get a refill. He finally called me himself to say I am no longer a patient there. Because of my review.. a online review So to review my review, I fully stand by what I said. Instead of trying to help someone who needed him, or try to improve he just discarded me. I just hope this can help save a few people from what is quite shockingly a bad person in a very integral industry that you should be able to trust. Bring me great joy to see this go down to 2.5 and many people like this review glade I could save people from this terrible person in a position of power
My 10 years experience with Dr. Raichura, and his staff, has been very helpful to me. I have never had an appointment cancelled. His punctuality has been fine. His staff have been friendly and helpful. For example, his referral for an Endoscopy was appropriate and was completed as planned. He does follow up on test results each time I make an annual visit. When I phone the office, if my call is not answered personally, my voicemail messages are followed up, usually the same day. Never a problem with prescriptions and his communication with my pharmacy. He prescribes appropriately, as far as I can tell ... certainly does not over-prescribe. In summary, I recommend Dr. Raichura and his staff to patients looking for a family doctor.
As a patient of this clinic for over 6 years I’m extremely disappointed in the quality of care i have been receiving the past few months. Unable to get my prescriptions refilled after physically talking to someone and sending multiple fax’ to the clinic is unacceptable. I have been waiting for any type of response back to either myself, my pharmacy, or my mother for over a week now from the clinic. As a medication that is required daily and actually says on the label to not discontinue without medical supervision, to go this long without any kind of follow up is extremely disappointing. I do not recommend.
He's been my family's doctor for more than a decade. We have been very satisfied with both his medical expertise and the manner in which he treats us / speaks with us. I have recommended him to others. His reception staff -- some of whom we now know by name -- have been similarly wonderful and accommodating. The low star posts and 'only cares about money' comment are likely from chronic complainers, because I've got no complaints. The worst think I can say is that he's often 'all booked up'... and that's hardly something he should be criticized for.
I have been seeing Dr. KALPESH RAICHURA for about 16 to 17 years I would say. He has always treated me good, he gave his opinions and did what he could. He referred me to other doctors. I don't know why people are putting him down...yes there are times you cannot reach him..but all the doctors are the same..the are overload ed with paperwork as well as patients...I would not give him.up..no way. People have to realize that doctors are humans as well...they get sick...they have a family just like you and me.
I had an exceptional experience with Dr. Raichura! Their dedication to patient care shone through as they took the time to discuss my health and needs. I was particularly impressed by their ability to multitask, providing insightful guidance while also training a new doctor. A true professional who values both patients and the next generation of healthcare providers. Highly recommend!
Terrible doctor. I would never recommend anyone to Dr Raichura. He is so rude, unprofessional and always in rush. He doesn't bother to check you properly so the right diagnosis can be done. My mom had both her uterus and bladder prolapsed but he kept on giving yeast infection cream. He didn't refer my mom to any gynaecologist for proper treatment. Had a worst experience ever
Overall been very happy with the doctor and support staff. The support staff have always been professional and friendly. The doctor is direct and doesn’t waste time, which to some might be hard to handle. Personally I’m totally fine with it and respect it.
A specific secretary has an attitude problem and when I left a voicemail after hours saying I was experiencing chest pains, they didn’t bother to call me back the following day.
I’m extremely dissatisfied from this clinic. Lots of unpleasant situations over the years. Also, office hours are not accurate as the doctor is almost always not available.
There is no response on the phone. I left a few messages to get records faxed to another specialist, and no one called back.
I found Dr. Kal and his staff to be friendly and accommodating. Dr. Kal is thorough and caring. What more can you ask for?
I drove 40 min to get to him and he turned me away because of being little more then 10 min late to an appointment.
Most TERRIBLE experience with a doctor ever!
I really appreciate his openness.
worst clinic ever!!
