What an incredible little find this shop is! My husband and I visited a few days ago and were helped by Pete. My husband had some craft beers and I had two gin tasting paddles. Pete was friendly, fun and super knowledgeable. He picked the gins on my second tasting paddle and could not have picked a better selection for my taste. The selection of unique gins (along with other types of drinks) available to taste/purchase was huge and varied. It was great to see so many local-made gins created from Tassie’s fantastic produce. I left with several bottles (more if could carry them on the flight with me ). Pete was helpful in answering questions about ordering online and shipping, and told me to give the shop a call if ever I needed any new recommendations. It was such a pleasant surprise finding this place on the last day of our trip. I will be buying my bespoke gins from here now on, and wouldn’t hesitate in advising friends to visit the store when traveling around Tasmania! Thanks for a wonderful visit, Pete! On no level was I ready for how good an experience you'll have at Drink Tasmania's Tasting House. I sidled in there looking forward to tasting a few very-good whiskies. I walked out a king. Mostly this was due to host Peter imparting his superb whisky knowledge, passion, sense of humour and deadset majestic beard. Some of it was due to the whisky, but this isn't to say ANY dram was forgettable - indeed, Pete promised the best whiskies I'd ever tasted and he unflinchingly delivered. My mate and I enjoyed a few once-in-a-lifetime tastings (we got two tasting flights each and I won't say how much we paid except to say that it was worth every red cent and more) and we walked out with an absolutely exceptional bottle of whisky each. Apart from that? Big laughs, utterly excellent service from Pete and one of the best times we had on our Tasmania trip. Don't ask yourself if this is worth doing. Ask yourself: Is this worth passing up? And then thank me in the comments.

Despite the fact that a Google search for wine tastings in Richmond led me to Drink Tasmania, and that their own publicity brochure indicated tastings in gin, whiskey, wine and more, Drink Tasmania do NOT offer wine tastings at all. There is a very limited range of wine available to purchase by the glass. (maybe 5). Hobart's Information Centre recommended them and said they had a very wide range of wines available to taste, so clearly they have the wrong information as well. The place is fine for those spirits tastings, but it was extremely disappointing to find all this out after making a special trip. The person behind the bar was also completely offhand about the whole thing and I ended up feeling short changed

We three Aussie Whisky Travellers found Gino was so friendly, informative and helpful we just had to visit twice - once on our way northwards from Hobart and again on our way back. Superb range of whiskies (and other spirits/liqueurs/wines) and Gino can provide the background to every dram in the well stocked shelves. Highly recommend a flight of winter drams in front of the fire. Paul, Mal and Russell (aka McH, McMal and McJim)

This place is a must visit to get an education on the Tasmanian drinks industry. Geno and Peter were experts in whiskey and the culture of the island, and also had a killer wine selection. We spent two hours more than we were planning just chewing the fat with these guys. They were generous and very cool. The whiskeys are pricey but that’s common across the island. Richmond is worth the visit itself for a taste of old tassie.

Staff are standoffish, more interested in their laptop standing at the register than interacting with the customers. Apparently they do whisky tastings, but regardless of how many people are waiting at the counter or for how long, they aren't going to offer it, you'll have to ask. Which is interesting as the sales counter is directly behind the waiting customers.. Range is nothing special. I wouldn't waste your time.

Wasn’t expecting much more than a bottle shop upon walking in to Drink Tasmania - however, was incredibly impressed with the experience we had. Tasted a paddle of Gins as recommended by Peter and my husband tasted some beers. We had a great chat and we both really enjoyed spending time with Peter. Walked away with some Gin and Tassie beers and would not hesitate to recommend to anybody. Thanks legend!!!

Drink Tasmania Tasting House is the place to go, to see, taste & learn about the huge range of quality drinks being produced by Tasmanian distillers. We enjoyed the comfortable environment, the knowledge and friendliness of the 2 guys (owners) behind the bar, and of course the chance to taste 3 gins, selected for me according to my preferences. Highly recommended

My partner and I loved this place. We stumbled upon it whilst travelling through the town and we were so happy we visited! The guys serving us were great and so knowledgable. We were also amazed at how many Tasmanian whiskies and gins they had on offer. Definitely worth a visit - guarantee you will love the vibe, the drinks and most of all the hospitality!

Spent the morning of my 50th birthday here with lots of yummy tastings! What a large selection to choose from! Loved everything about the store! The staff were incredible! Very personable and happy to take some pics of us. Now we just can't wait for our purchases to arrive in the post! Oh and our next visit when we are back in Tassie in August!

Great location. Open fire and plenty of tasting for everyone’s favourite flavours. Worth a visit. I was disappointed that they charged me $8 for a small taste of a bottle I intended to buy. Understand tasting fees 100% and if I didn’t buy, fine. But for a $100 bottle, the small expense (to them) should have been waived when I purchased

What a place! The boys Pete and Gino were so accommodating to us on the multiple occasions we were at the tasting house during our stay in Richmond! Their knowledge on all the Tasmanian spirits they have on offer is incredible. Thanks for the many tastings, laughs and sookie recipe! Keep up the good work, we will be back!

I can not believe the service I received from Jules at the Tasting House; I called from Melbourne to organise a birthday gift and did not expect the high level, thoughtful and dedicated service I was to experience. Great little find when stopping by in Richmond. Very friendly and informative bar staff, happy to have a chat and give some great recommendations. Such a great range of gins, whiskeys and liqueurs. Loved that the tasting was open to (almost) anything in the shop, not just set spirits they preselected.

A great spot in Richmond! Very knowledgeable staff who gave us great recommendations for local wines that we could try in a beautiful and relaxed surroundings. If you like all things alcohol, and Tasmanian, then you'll probably like Drink Tasmania. Well worth the stop. Don't expect to try everything in one go. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Even gave a free glass of bubbly for our anniversary. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend, or go again.

Enjoyed a nice session of whisky tasting. Interesting explanations of my selections including origins and tasting notes. Pricing of tastings is clear allowing a choice to experience more expensive whisky and compare with cheaper options. Left with some interesting sauces from the shop.

Incredible whiskey collection. Great little gem tucked away in Richmond. If you love whiskey and wine, then you will probably like this establishment. We stopped by as part of our Drink Tasmania tour, had 3 drams and a great spot by the fire. It truly was sublime.

Loved the gin tastings especially seeing I am new to gin everything was explained so well super friendly guy behind the bar which is very refreshing ,outstanding decor which looked very comfy ,loved the whole experience will return when next in Richmond.

Whisky and gin tasting is why we come here and Julie has a great knowledge of the local products. Friendly and very knowledgeable in the products also makes it a lot easier to compare products of local producers without having to travel to each one.

The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The variety of local alcoholic drinks was phenomenal. The only issue I had here was coming to terms with their pricing, it was all quite expensive compared to others that I've experienced in the past.

STOP - SIT DOWN - ENJOY this was by far my favourite experience in tassie. The three gents that were working today were exceptional and the core to a successful business. Tassie whiskey they had it all..... I will be ordering in the future

The staff here are fantastic, with an amazing knowledge of the hundreds of Tassie products they have on hand. Settled down in front of the fire on a cold day, with a gin and whisky tasting paddle each has just been a perfect day.

We missed the store on a recent visit to Tassie so got online to purchase Littlewoods Jam Gin. so pleased with the speed of delivery and a personal hand written note. Feels like I did get to experience the in store purchase!!

Had a great tasting here with staff who had a great sense of humour. The staff have a great knowledge of the drinks they serve and ask questions of you to find out what drinks you'd most like. Would absolutely go back.

We stumbled across Drink Tasmania and it was the highlight of the day. The boys new their stuff, tastes some wonderful whiskey’s and Gin’s. Highly recommend so down to earth and they love to have a good laugh.

Julie walked us through a bunch of different spirits that I never thought I would enjoy. She knows her stuff and the story behind each distiller. Can't wait to get home to tuck into our purchases.

Great place amongst all there is to do in Richmond. Great place to have whisky tasting because you can choose what you try.. I got to try 3 different whisky's from 3 different distilleries.

Fantastic tasting house with a huge selection of Tassie products to sample. Staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. Online shop on their website is really good too.

Went in to taste some local Pinot Noir (ready to buy!) and was told that there we no bottles open, so I couldn't taste anything! Not much of a tasting house.... $0 spent

Great tasting house. Massive selection of whiskies and gins. Recommend getting a tasting flight, and chasing your session with a scallop pie from the bakery next door.

This is a great spot in Richmond. We did the gin and whiskey tasting which was fab. The chaps were entertaining and knowledgeable, and the store itself is cute & cosy
