Extremely unprofessional and money hungry. I booked her service for an expensive wedding cake and gave her a deposit. I sent an email in regards to changing a design and I didn’t hear back for a month. She’s been telling me from the start how busy she was. I was notified that a tasting box would be available for pickup in a parking lot at a certain time and date and was then notified there was a cost of 65$ in addition to what I had already paid and agreed to for the cake. This was never mentioned beforehand. When I told her I was coming out of town, she gave no options for me to pick up the cake and only kept reminding me how busy she was. She offered to deliver it 10 extra minutes out of her way for an additional 10$ delivery fee. This is outrageous when paying 1500$ for a cake and 65$ for a tasting box that should’ve been included in the price. When I told her I didn’t want her to deliver it because I felt that asking for a delivery fee was petty, she then offered to return my deposit and then passive aggressively said she didn’t want me to feel like I was breaking my bank. At this point I wanted nothing more to do with her “services” and accepted a refund on my deposit where she then decided to keep $50 of it claiming that she spent hours on phone calls and emails. I barely spoke with her and she barely even responded to my emails. Gaby, if you can’t take on more clients, you really shouldn’t. It was never a matter of breaking the bank, it’s a matter of principle and not being so tacky or petty asking for small change. Seems like she needed the money more than I do.

Gabriela, the woman behind Dulce Couture Cakes, is the definition of “girl boss.” When we sat down with her for our tasting, we got to talking about how she found herself in the business of making cakes. Her journey to Dulce Couture is one of passion, hard work and perseverance. I felt so inspired by her after meeting her in person! But, I digress. Besides her incredible story, she creates deliciously flavourful and moist cakes with delicate and ornate handmade details. During our tasting, we sampled four different cakes with four different icings, including the one that we had told her we were interested in. We also talked about sugar flower designs, colour schemes, and the overall feel that we were shooting for, which she took into consideration while crafting her final design. At our request, she happily added poppyseeds to the lemon cake we chose, and went out of her way to purchase a ribbon to tie around the cake’s top tier to pull the whole look together. When we saw our cake on our wedding day, it was exactly what we were expecting. A modern, minimal cake with a touch of romance. We saved the cake for our family to eat the day after the wedding, which made for the perfect post-wedding treat as we reminisced about our magical evening the night before.

I found Dulce Cake Design on instagram and her work looked beautiful so we thought we’d give it a try! Gabriela made macaron favours (with packaging) and a cake for our wedding. The macarons were delicious and pretty - we received a lot of compliments from our guests. The cake looked beautiful with edible flowers. The cake was composed of two flavours - carrot and salted caramel chocolate cake. The carrot was good, but I’m giving 3 stars because the salted caramel chocolate cake was too salty and this was served at our wedding. We received complaints because when they would take some bites there would be an overwhelming section of salt. Perhaps it was too much or it wasn’t mixed well? I’m not sure…but I emailed Gabriela to thank her and let her know our feedback a couple of months ago and I still did not receive a response unfortunately.

very unprofessional. I wouldn't take the time to write a negative review if I wasn't extremely frustrated. I don't care how good she is at making cake, a person with this attitude is not someone that anyone would want to work with. All I said is that the price is a little above my budget for a small cake and I was about to say I will check with my fiancé and get back to you, but I didn't get the chance to as she immediately replied the way she did and ended the conversation as If I insulted her or something! She was my first quote so I had no idea how much the cost would be and after getting few other quotes I was going to go with her probably had she not replied to me in this condescending way. Its all about how you treat people, no one wants to do anything with someone unkind.

Gabriella, the owner of Dulce Couture Cakes is an amazing baker. I cannot stress the word aaaaaammmmmaaaaazzzzzziiiiinnnngggg quite enough. She made an amazing semi-nude cake for our wedding, with multiple flavours that accommodated everyone's sensibility. Gabriella also made a second, personal cake for one of our groomsmen for his birthday. As someone who is not particular to marzipan, I thoroughly enjoyed this version. Turns out the issue was that I had never had "good" marzipan before :). My wife and I would recommend her services to anybody. She is attentive, friendly and incredibly professional.

If you are looking for a luxury wedding cake than Dulce Cake Design is THE choice for Ottawa couples. I am a big fan of her dessert displays as well. They are not only delicious but beautiful. Do yourself a favour and book Dulce Cakes Designs now…seriously…Gabriela is an absolute artist!! She did all of our desserts for our wedding, including a stunning cake with sugar flowers and vines climbing up it (people could not believe that they weren’t real flowers they were so realistic and beautiful), macarons, mini chocolates and mini cupcakes. Everything was so delicious and beautiful - far beyond our expectations. To top things off Gabriela is so sweet and amazing to work with. 1000% recommend and will be using her for any desserts we need in the future!!

Coming from the wedding industry, I've heard great things about Dulce Cake Design and was so excited when they began offering hot chocolate bombs. I have to say they were the best quality hot chocolate bombs I've ordered to date. The hot chocolate bombs were creamy, rich, and unique down to the packaging. I also appreciated the multi-flavour selection and the clear labelling/instructions. I was so pleased with my order, and the customer service was excellent. My husband and I just got married and we had our 3 tier customized cake made by Gabriela and it was honestly so delicious and one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We got the pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese buttercream and it was such a hit. We got so many compliments at the wedding, seriously!!
