Total and utter tourist trap SCAM! No prices listed and the rudest staff I've ever encountered. I tried this place last time I was in Amsterdam and forgot to leave my review at the time, better late than never. Went up to the guy behind the dessert counter just as you walk in the door and asked him what are the most popular items that they sell and how much are they. He shrugs his shoulders at me and says nothing, just stares at me blankly pretending not to understand me or to speak English when I'm pointing at various cakes and whatnot, he doesn't try to help me in the slightest or make any attempt to communicate with me. I had to practically beg him into selling me a random selection of what turned out to be old, stale, dry waffles with sickly icing on them. He put like 3 or 4 of them into a little white box, sealed it up and charged me 36 euro, I of course didn't know this as he just shrugged at me every time I asked for the price and he never spoke a single word throughout the entire transaction. He then had the nerve to charge me 6 euro EACH for a 500ml bottle of coca cola and 7up. He wouldn't give a receipt either so I only found out what I had been charged when I checked my card transactions later. Avoid this place, seems to target tourists specifically.

The experience at the Dutch Bakery was weird. I ordered a sandwich for breakfast and the man at the counter asked me to sit at a table. He would bring me the sandwich when done. After a while of not receiving anything I reminded the man about not having received the sandwich. He was surprised and told me he had served it. I said not to me. He probably gave my sandwich to another costumer, which can happen. But he did not remember he said he would bring it to my table, and when he finally brought it, checked whether I had remains from sandwich. Weird and really awkward situation. Very short memory from the man at the counter, or perhaps his mind somewhere else, away from the Dutch Bakery.

Niet hier eten! Ten eerste heb ik 6 hele euro’s betaald voor een APPELPFLAP!!! Nadat ik betaald had kwam ik er pas achter hoe duur hij was. Vervolgens heb ik er naar gevraagd (na mijn afschriften te zien) en zei de man dat hij het niet wist en dat ik het aan de kassa moest vragen. Na een gesprek zei het personeel dat de appelflap wel 6 euro kost. Be la che lijk! Mijn vriendin had een belegd broodje voor 7 euro en deze bevatte een stuk plastic! Wij komen hier nooit meer terug. Ik raad jullie aan dit ook niet te doen.

We came for breakfast as all other cafés were still closed early in the morning. We had the apple pie, cappuccino and a green tea. The interior is outworn and obviously not cared for. The glass cup for my tea was also dirty and not in good condition. Surprisingly, the apple pie was good. But we didn't dare to order the other stuff as it didn't look fresh at all. The male staff was there alone but not really friendly. We smiled a lot when ordering but got pretty short emotionless reactions from him.

€18 voor 2 drankjes, 1 muffin en 1 stukje cheesecake. De cheesecake smaakte echter vermuft! Bij het beleefd melden aan de eigenaar/werknemer dat de cheesecake een vreemde smaak had, kregen we een arrogante antwoord dat ‘ de cake gewoon nieuw was en normaal rook ‘. Jammer dat dit zo onvolwassen verliep. De zaak is ook niet proper & veel te duur. Jammer dat ik dit nog 1 ster moet geven…

Awful experience the man behind the counter overcharged me and when I protested he argued that the chocolate waffle was 6,5€. Overall 16,5€ for 2coffees with 1 croissant and the waffle. Did not make sense when the baguette sandwiches were 5€, either completely overpriced or he decided to earn a few extra euros. Both alternatives deserve two

Jammer. Prijzen misleidend /verkeerd. Duur voor wat het is, niets speciaal. Gevraagd voor een sandwich en krijgen een ciabatta broodje (let op: duurder (staat niet aangegeven)). Voelt scammy aan. Geen propere tafel /toilet. Broodje veggie gekregen zonder de hummus. Broodje pulled pork tafelgenoot smaakte wel ok.

Don't understand why there's negative reviews here. Small place with lotsa choices, good place to rest your feet for some coffee and cakes. Sandwiches looked good as well, but I came for toilet break. Dog friendly, friendly staff. Seems like we made a good choice supporting local businesses like this.

Staff was rude and didn't really listen. After ordering the cake, it was first mentioned that there were no more milkshakes. Prices are also completely different than on the menu. The dishes taste as if they were three weeks old. Not recommended at all unless you are looking for a place to sit.

We found the churros greasy. The waffle was dense and seemed to be made of cake batter. The macaron filling was also quite dense and over powered the delicate cookie. It also had an off taste. Aside from the macaron, one in my group finished their treats and we usually adore baked goods.

DONT GO HERE! Milkshakes are DISGUSTING. they just put a donut and some icecubes in a mixer and call it a milkshake, it was full of soft/hard texture of the donut. we asked for anothee flavour and they said we had to pay extra. threw the whole milkshake away in the nearby trashbin.

Echt een super lekker belegd broodje. Op de menukaart staat wel een andere prijs, maar is niet te verschillend. Sommige prijzen zijn wel echt hoog, voor de wafels bijvoorbeeld. Het broodje Caprese is echter zeer zeker wel aan te raden en er werkt vriendelijk personeel!

Voor 2 supermarktwafels uit een zakje met een beetje slagroom en half verotte aardbeien 24 euro vragen. Schandalig

Delicious fresh , great range of breads with various fillings of your choice, deserts were fab and so many to choose from, it was food heaven. Great range of soft drinks, and teas/coffees etc. Lovely happy, friendly people working here made us so welcome.

I recommend only coming here for the ciabatta’s which are AMAZING. For 5€, you can get a generously-filled sandwich (including meat options). Eat like a local, and don’t bother buying any of the stale waffles other reviewers have written … Meer

Excellent. We have been in Amsterdam 4 days and they had the best apple tart and delicious coffee. We were surprised that it took us 4 days but we found it. Cappuccino is just perfect. Thx from the USA! See you next time.

The check is issued only to locals. Tourists are fooled. The food is tasteless and stale, and poor service and miserable staff . The prices are not true. If I could give 0 stars I would. Don't recommend.

They are fraud. They charged us 6€ per stroopwafel and 12€ for a strawberry tart that isn’t worth the price at all. The don’t have price tags for the sweets. Avoid this place at all costs!!

Scam!!!! Told Nutella cost 2 euro and got charged 3 euro. When I asked the cashier, he pretended that nothing happened, this was a scammy touristy trap location!!! Do not go!!!!!

A total scam!!! The waiter told us the macaroni was 1 euro each but when we took 6, he charged us 18, which means 3 euro each!! Don't be fooled and support this kind of fraud

Amazing experience, in my wildest dreams I have not imagined eating something that bad. Also, the price was out of this world. Stay away from this place at all costs.

The other terrible reviews are correct. Stale, tasteless waffles that were microwaved after being made 2 weeks prior. Massively overpriced. Avoid this place for sure.

Probably a turistic trap. Prices different from the menu. We paid €26 euros for an old piece of cake, a frozen smoothie and a waffle. Avoid

Scam. There were no prices where the waffles and cakes. Once we ated it they requested a 12,50 eur and 7 for a small tiramisu. Do not go.

We had waffles and pancakes they were absolutely delicious. Quick friendly service. Nice place to sit and recharge. Highly recommend A***
