My girlfriend and I had breakfast for our first time in this shop and unfortunately it was a bit disappointed the experience. We ordered a eggshell burger and poached eggs on sourdough. The presentation of the food is basic and needs to be improved first of all, the serving for the poached eggs on sourdough it’s very poor with a tiny slice of tomato on the side and it’s suppose to be grilled tomato not cold, (I mean this is the basic of the hospitality also let’s serve a bit more slices) the eggshell burger wasn’t bad but the egg inside was cold and overcooked. The staff wasn’t bad but maybe an extra smile would be appreciated.

A welcome sight on a rainy Sunday afternoon. This place was fairly busy - although I'm not entirely sure you would bring your dog here. They have an EFTPOS minimum of $10 - which saves a business such as this cafe all of about a dollar a week and leaves a bad taste - at least in this consumers mouth. Generous on the jam as requested - coffee tasted OK. Wouldn't describe the server as overly friendly - all excuses aside - if it's your business and your trying to sell your stuff you need to be glowing - literally - with enthusiasm and I might just come back. But as it is....

Visiting Sydney from Perth and decided to have brunch at the cafe based on reviews. I ordered the Eggs Benedict which was marked as gluten free on the menu. A few minutes later the waitress came back to say the sauce was not gluten free, so why is the dish labelled gluten free?? Dish came out looking dry with two slices of gluten free bread, somewhat wilted spinach, salmon and two eggs with no sauce whatsoever. I had the meal packed and left the cafe. Not impressed at all. I thought meals in Sydney were supposed to be top notch. We have better eggs Benny in Perth!

AVOID if you want nice customer service. Female staff member exceptionally rude on every level.. arguing back to customer. ..no idea if muffins were fresh, asked another staff member who said ' Maybe, I don't know'.. as I walked out of cafe female staff member continued to argue and say nasty things about me, and said while another customer was at counter. Unbelievable, especially as she has a job when many others do not due to COVID. Added update as asked by owner in their response, as below. Incident occurred Tuesday 03/08/21 @ approx 10.10am.

I have to drop my mother, who is almost blind, at the eggshell cafe so I can then go and park my car. I take her for eye injections in Park House next door to the cafe. The cafe staff look after her, pour her a cup of tea and help her out. Not only that but today when I inadvertently passed 2 $50 bills stuck together to the young girl at the register she immediately and completely honestly passed one back before sorting the bill and giving me change. Great food, great staff and I want to congratulate the young waitress for her honesty and care.

Began having coffee here during my last 2 terms of year 12 while studying at the state library across the road. Was always treated with respect by the staff who were also very fast in preparing the drinks/food. Over the course of those two terms my friend and i became familiar with the staff and they were always kind and would talk to us. Our coffee breaks during study here would be our favourite part of the day. Their coffee is great and their iced coffee with ice cream is amazing, so much so that this place is specialty to my friends and i.

I am being generous, I ordered the egg and bacon burger, I asked for no hash brown. The burger came with a hash brown and removing it meant losing most of the sauce, the actual role was burnt and even though I was eating in my coffee was in a paper cup which is great for the environment ... Not. Very close to the most disgusting breakfast I've bought.

There was cooffe, the coffee was about right. Then there was a brunch, and the brunch was not that good. I understand it depends on the day, but poached eggs that were beyond poached, burnt pieces of bacon and a complete scarcity of the rest of the ingredients on my partner dish, like the misterious case of the disappearing feta or the sad story of the lonely cherry tomato. Pick a coffee to go and that's it.

The people who run it might be nice, but they can't clean. I rarely sit down at the place but every time I have, results in the concerning realisation that I can't choose a good table because they're all crummy and dirty. They do have cupcakes and things that aren't made in house, but they're nice to have there as an option. They're open on Sundays though, which is perhaps their only redeeming factor.

Came to this place for breakfast. Few people here but the store managed so well to serve coffees and breakfast. Food came out very fast and looked absolutely delightful. Store was a nice warm place with very nice staff members greeting you and accommodating our needs. Love this place and their food would recommend 10/10

We came here for breakfast, and it was pretty solid. There is not much seating and it operates more as a takeaway cafe but it wasn’t busy when we went, and the servings were generous for the price. The food wasn’t outstanding, but it was good value and nothing to complain about.

Limited cafes in this area on a Sunday. This place was terrible. Dirty everywhere and our food came out separately ( there were only 2 of us)our drinks given to the wrong table and came out separately 15mins after our food we had to tell the waitress 3 times we wanted 2 bacon and egg rolls and she continually touched her hair and nose yuk won't be back .

Situated on the Macquarie Street, you will easily spot this cafe when you are making your way walking from Hyde Park to Sydney Opera House. They open all through the week, so you can still can enjoy your Sunday coffee when almost all the cafes in Sydney CBD close on that particular day. I ordered a nice cup of large flat white and my hubby had his mocha.

  • Marilena Sklatinioti

Eggshellent!! Really. Do try "the volcado" breakfast! One thing that made me return to this place everyday within a one week holiday in Sydney is the fact that they always provided a successful version of poached eggs! Don't know their secret, but they did not fail even once! Quite rare virtue for a coffee place! DEFINATELY A MUST- VISIT.

  • DJM

Awesome coffee! They use Danes beans which are locally roasted in Sydney. The bar is set high in this end of the CBD for coffee. Eggshell Cafe raises the bar!

Nice Cafe. Friendly staff, good food, only one complaint I had a smoked salmon bagel that was good but had no condiments (cream cheese, butter etc.) on it so it was a bit dry and I got a Nutella Cronut, that was good but a bit dry as well. Maybe ask for cream cheese for the bagel when you go there but besides that I recommend it.

  • Mick Hungry Diner

Right next to my office, located on Macquarie St and right in the busy hustle. Love this place! Really friendly staff, great coffee (cool cups) and a very good all day menu to choose from. I had the ham cheese and pineapple open melt with chilli. So good and savoury!!! I’ll be back for your breakfast options 100% Thank you team

  • PhuongUyen AshleeNguyen

This is my favorite cafe in the city. There is a great menu for breakfast and lunch as well as a cake display with some sweet treats, muffins, golden pastries...The food was fresh and delicious, great value and made with love. Coffee is consistently good, service is friendly and quick . Would definitely return!!!

  • Helen W

Went here for a quick coffee and meal. Eggshell cafe is in Martin place at the bottom of an office building. There was a queue for takeaway coffee but there was indoor and outdoor seating Coffee was and food wasn't too bad. Prices were ok for city prices. I liked the flowers on the tables outside

  • anonymous x

The girl making my chai latte was touching cash at the same time as making the chai. One hand on the coffee machine.. one with cash in it. Did not wear gloves or use hand sanitiser after touching the cash. Then put those hands on the lid of my coffee. Not good hand hygiene at this place.

  • Julianne van Dorst

A great reasonably priced for breakfast in the city. As a coeliac, I take responsibility for ordering what I think is easily prepared gluten free rather than rely on a gf rating and so I ordered poached eggs and bacon, and it was perfect. Fresh juice was delicious. Highly recommend!

  • Emma Masotti

I like my coffee strong, which means I usually have bitter tasting coffee. But the coffee at Eggshell is not bitter, it's smooth and beautiful! I look forward to it every morning on my way to work. They also make delicious sandwiches & service is always efficient and friendly.

  • Ross Tomei

Nice coffee at this spot across the road from the NSW State Library. WE ordered toast and a breakfast burger . Both were well made and tasty. But if you choose to sit outside, watch out for the local thieves with feathers. They take any chance to pinch your food. …

  • James Anderson

Visited on a Saturday just before noon when limited cafes were open in that part of the city. Good breakfast brunch options and prompt service. Vegetable stack with poached eggs on sour dough was great. Brian teasers on the wall are tough and will keep you thinking.

  • Kate Murphy

Really good flavoursome coffee. Well priced especially being right in the city centre. Staff are really friendly and exceptionally quick. Their sandwiches and salads are also tasty. This place has become my regular for good quality and fast service I can depend on.

  • A Soldan

Excellent meal i am morning person . Have tried Frittata a cross Sydney . This one is awesome properly baked and prepared . Other places i tasted baked powder . Coffee is so smooth with nice bitter crispy flavoure at the end . Will be coming back in for breakfast .

  • Sophie Young

Good coffee but their coffee lids weren’t tight enough on their take away coffee and I was wearing ALL WHITE and it leaked out and ruined my whole outfit thankful I ordered the coffee after my job interview but still that shouldn’t happen in the first place. …

  • Steve Thomson

Great free wifi - you can sit in the cafe and connect to the State Library's network across Macquarie Street! Decent coffee too, although they seem to only serve in takeaway cups.

Lovely place!!! Amazing staffs .. you can go there and relax a bit having your coffee, you will always be treating well :) and it’s the most important I guess. The price of the food is relatively good. Worthwhile though cos the food is incredibly delicious.

We used the 'EatClub' deal here and grabbed some breaky. The breakfast roll was amazing, really tasty! The coffee and banana smoothie were also really good. Will be back again:)

  • Georgie S

I ordered the bacon and egg roll ($8.90) and was served burnt eggs on a stale 50 cent Coles roll with fatty bacon. The coffee was tasteless and watery and the cutlery and plate were dirty.
