I went to this restaurant friday August 9th, 2019 around 10am. So we first get there and sit down at a booth. The last customers plates were still there. We waited five minutes for a waitress to clean the table. We got our menus and they were dirty and torn down the middle. It honestly wasnt even a menu. Finally we order our food. I ordered bean and cheese tacos and it was cold. My cheese wasnt even melted. Once we get our food my sister ask for hot sauce, and extra ice. Our waitress didnt come back for ten minutes. By the time my sister got her things my mom, and I finished eating. I ordered my son scrambled eggs, but tell me why he had big chunks of potatoes with his scrambled eggs. The eggs were watery. It's like it was potato and eggs but they tried to pick out as much potatoesas they can. I didnt even want my son to eat watery eggs. So my son wasnt feeling good, and didnt even touch his food. So when I went to the register to go and pay I told the lady Janeth who was checking me out that my son didnt even touch his food and I didnt wanna pay for something he didnt eat. She responded with "your just waiting our food you have to pay!" I told her "No i do not have to pay, and I'm sure alot of people here waste food, but my son didnt even touch yalls eggs, and they were watery with potatoes in them," she then responded too "well you have to pay for them your waiting our food" I then told her to call a manager. So when the manager comes out he tells me what the problem is. I explain everything I did to Janeth. His response "Why don't you wanna pay for these eggs? Do you wanna take them to go? You are just wasting our food!"! I told him "I dont wanna take them to go. They are nasty and my son didnt even touch them. I got stuff to do for my son for school. Your complaining about me wasting food but I'm sure you all waste food everyday on how much you cook." He said "no we dont waste food here " I said "so then do yall reheat yalls food from the day before and serve it to the customers?" He stayed quiet and said "okay I wont charge you" so when he was ringing me up, Janeth said "wow, just wasting food" I said "Ma'am if you have a problem we can take this outside!" She said "let's go!" The manager then said "Jennifer that's enough!" She then rolled her eyes. What ever happen to the custome is always right? Also I've gone to other restaurants before where this happens, and the employee or managers are like "Okay ma'am we will go head and remove this for you." If I can rate this a 0 I would in a heartbeat! My family freaked on how the customer service was. Especially the managers. They are so unprofessional here. I do not reccomend this place. I will be leaving this review posted everywhere.

Went yesterday at 2pm for the 1st time and it will definitely be my last time there. Not a good experience. It was hot inside restaurant. Table was dirty. Switched tables but the waiter never offered to clean the dirty table. We had to clean the table ourselves. Waiter finally came and brought our drinks and food. They gave my son a drink with no straw. Had to ask for a straw myself. They definitely don't anticipate your needs. The food was bad. I ordered the 3 enchilada plate. It was gross. The lettuce was washed and not drained properly my enchiladas had marks of significant water on the plate from the salad. The rice was ok but the enchilada sauce tasted like can sauce and the refried beans like can beans. We were short 1 tortilla Each of our plates came with 2 tortillas and my son had a child's plate with 1 tortilla. His child plate tortilla was missing. My mother asked for corn tortillas and we received a batch of all flour tortillas with the child's tortilla missing. I had to change my baby's diaper and the bathroom that did have a diaper changing station didn't have any light inside. The light was out and they said someone was supposed to repair it that morning. A waitress helped me hold door open and used her cell phone light so that I could see to change my baby. I thought that was nice of her but it was definitely disgusting to see a restaurant with no light inside the only bathroom who has a diaper changing station. Finally, when leaving we asked for a to go container to take the food leftovers to our dog . They charged us 2 to go containers and didn't tell us about the extra fee. my mother got food poisoning from the food that afternoon . She got diarrhea. She ate the beef and chicken fajita plate. Nobody else got sick thankfully but again everyone else got non meat plates. we all got enchilada plate except for my mom who got the fajita plate. The waitress never came to say goodbye thank you for coming nothing. Just brought the chekc and 2 to go containers. No plastic bag to carry the to go plates. The bill was expensive in my opinion for mediocre food. I dont mind paying for good food but when the food is bad and you pay for almost the same price you would pay at a higher end restaurant , it really sucks. Definitely don't recommend this restaurant.

Wednesday 10.12.22 8:15 am First time ordering from this restaurant. Came in to place an order, person at register with long nails can barely type on their iPad register. Place my order of $29 for two plates, one taco, coffee and soda. They charge extra any container as to go orders, plus extras for who knows what on my receipt. (maybe for sugar and creamer for my coffee) I waited inside for my order for well over 10 minutes. I was the only one who had placed an order to go, only one waiting. Some of the staff (three ladies) decided to take I assume their break and eat a full breakfast at the table by the entrance where I was standing. Didn't even acknowledge me that I had been standing behind them for a long time waiting for my order watching them talk, laugh and eat. Some waitress had seen my order ready to go the whole time it was sitting by the lady at the register who didn't even bother to put it together, was on her phone. I thanked the waitress and even tipped her $5 for acknowledging my order and wait. I made sure to let the other ladies know who were eating in front of customers that I had been waiting for a long time and no one approached me about my to go order. First and last time going there. To top it off my order was missing an item, also it wasn't worth the money I paid for.

I was taking to this restaurant by people who go to this restaurant regularly and evidently something drastically changed virtual receded in a table in the corner by the storage room and by the window next to the kitchen where they had an exhaust fan blowing air secondly it took us almost 40 minutes to get a waitress to see us and then after that it's like we were playing musical chairs with the waitress because it would get one waitress then another one would show up then another one would show up by end of our meal we have five different waitresses waiting on us when we first came in we requested a table that was in the center of the room and the waitress said know that table was not available so they status in the middle of the hallway between the storage room and the kitchen window and then like 6 minutes afterwards they had the tables Ready Clean and ready for the next customer where's the food what's subpar it is was not the $50 that I paid for and our meals were 8 tacos and one small menudo and 3 teas and 1 coffee. I was looking for the food rating that's supposed to be posted on the wall and I could not find it so I will never go there again and I will always tell people the truth

Wasn't informed that when you ask for a coffee in a togo cup you will be charged for 2 cups of coffee. At least that what they told me and that the manager told them to do that. Not great consumer service. Menu states it's $.35 up charge. Makes no sense to charge for 2 full charge of coffee. Might as well just not serve free refill at all. Plus I'd start asking for an itemized receipt. Ive been there several times and I usually get the same thing and it's never the same price. Always different. Be careful you might not be charged correctly. I've noticed that the cashier still doesn't know prices and they will ask for prices. They price what they feel it is. You think the cashier that been there for 10+years would know prices by now..

Our server ignored us.. just took our drink and order and that's it didnt even bring our tortillas that came with the plate we were waiting for them and finally went to ask for them after a couple minutes.. and the girl was just standing in the front. We didn't even eat all our food just picked at it and left. My food felt hard like if it was just sitting under the heat lamp.. it was just horrible for us.! We usually go to Angelicas #2 or Rosie's Cafe but both were closed. last time I'm going in here people always brag about how good it is. But it wasnt for me..

The tortillas are soft and are made homemade, breakfast is really delicious especially if you like hot food like the chicharrones con salsa that is spicy, also the crispy tacos are good but what really is good is the fresh homemade lemonade. Like I mentioned I’m very picky about my Mexican food. The waitresses a majority are really nice especially the waitress Cynthia she is very attentive always making sure your food comes out to your liking and you always have your drinks full...make sure you tip her well. If you stop by ask for her.

There were about 12 people waiting outside to get in when we got there. Put our name on a list and waited about 20 minutes. I read the reviews, and they didn't give me any reason to wait. If you don't have over four stars you're not worth the wait.

For the most part the food is very good & homemade flair BUT on May 1 I got a Mexican plate & was surprised that the beans were cold on the chalupa & the lettuce was old What happened I did tell cashier & she did take off the chalupa less than $ 2 worth . That was the first time I had lunch here mostly breakfast items in the past with no problems . Rest is large enough for handicap accessible BUT getting into there are high chairs , carts in the way

My husband was really impressed the first time he came to this place and was really adamant for me to try it. First of the table wasn’t wiped I had to use my own wipes to clean it. The waitress was very short with our requests, even for napkins that we needed as none were provided. The lengua in salsa ranchera had a weird taste and smell as did the chicken flautas. They tasted and smelled dated. Would never return or would recommend not even to an enemy. San Antonio has a lot of restaurants try them out instead.

First time there my mother brought me to lunch and it was very good I enjoyed the meal but in the building itself it could be a lot cooler I know the weather is hot outside but doesn't need to be hot inside as well if you care about your guess make the building look cooler because because when it's hot inside and you're trying to enjoy your meal and cool down a little bit but that is not happening so you want to make your gift happy make it a little cooler in the building besides that the food was really good

They charge for chips and salsa! That was my first cue to knowing I would not be coming back (this was my first time there). Second, I asked for more cheese on my chilaquiles plate because it hardly had any so the waitress brings my 1/2 a cup of cheese and adds it to the ticket. The charge for 1/2 cup of cheese was 1.08 by the way! So when I paid, I told the young lady all this and she just shrugged her shoulders. No customer service whatsoever, none! Will not ever go back there again ( I told her that too!!)

Trash ! After 10 years I return to this place and I was so disappointed! I asked for bean n cheese tacos and I told our waitress that the beans were warm and the cheese was so cold. It wasn’t melted at all. Well she told me that I have to ask for them to melt the cheese! I was like wth ‍♀️ Wow that’s a first ! And plus the cheese that they use is that Ugly one. Well all of our food was on the warm side smh breakfast plates tacos ect $42 waste of money ! This place don’t deserve any stars ⭐️

Waited in the front to be seated like the sign says they say to seat ourselves but there’s no tables available, finally they start taking names for when tables are available. Got seated waited 40 mins for our food, waitress never came to check on us. We had to ask twice for one refill on tea. Seems like unless you’re a regular you won’t get good service.

Food is always on point here. Even if you order to go. Best place for true Mexican food like your mom or grandma used to make. Prices are average. There is always a wait but well worth it. My favorite is the puffy tacos. Carne guisada is good hard to find a restaurant that makes this good. The cheese they use is great. I would call this place a true gem. If your on the south side of town don't hesitate to try you won't regret it.

Food is great service is alright depending whose the server but the cashier is a rip off If you eat here please be sure what your ordering and the prices cause everything we come we get over charged approximately 6-10 dollars more. So we make them re do it again to get it right And trust me they do this to everyone which ain't right at all. Next time just watch when she's ringing you up you gonna get sum extra 49 cent or 69 cent charges for no reason. So be alert and enjoy.

Went to this place and it was packed, sat by the door. Had four people with me and it was hard to eat in there. Ordered the hungry man breakfast, my family ordered two enchilada plates and a breakfast taco. Food was really bland, no taste to it. Bought a chicken caldo also and it was like $9, kinda expensive. Total came out to $42 and change, good thing I had a gift certificate. Service was kinda slow cause of all the people there but I wouldn't go again.

First time eating here!! My BFF has been trying to get me to eat her and finally i did. We love our enchiladas with American cheese and carne guisada with cheese perfecto. Las tortillas were good too.

Hands down, The best Mexican restaurant on the Southside! The best service I've ever had, and the owner even came and asked us if we needed anything and if everything was good. Then, he even socialized with us for a few minutes! And I actually enjoyed the conversation. Plenty of parking so you don't have to worry about people hitting your vehicle with their door! And best of all the prices for so low I really thought I was in Mexico! Lol

Place need a good cleaning, dusting. Wait staff needs to attend customers more attentively, not wait till my hand is raised because she hasn't checked on our table. Please get new menus they are disgusting. The food was decent but come on it was just eggs, potatoes and beans. Oh yeah to all wait staff, if you drop my menu on the floor don't pick it up "dust it off" on your leg and then put it on my table for me to use. WTFH!

Carne guisada did not taste the way it used to before. Unsure if I would go again for a while.

Today I found a DEAD ROACHES in my plate with my eggs.. this is not the first time... couple weeks ago the was a dead FLYIES in my enchiladas plate.. couple weeks before that.. there TABLE TIP OVER because they put one screw to hold the table and tip over and got food and drinks all over me and my wife lap...BEHIND THE KITCHEN...NEED TO GO OVER THERE.... THAT PLACE IS TRASH....... DONT GO... OR EAT ROACHES AND FLYIES

The food is good here, however, they do charge for EVERYTHING. I ordered two waters and was charged 1.59 basically to use the cups they provided. ANY and ALL plates get charged 1.00 extra to be made. It does not state that in the menu but they do charge it additional to your plate cost. Ask for your receipt and see what they are charging.

This restaurant has some of the best authentic Mexican food I have eaten so far here in San Antonio. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Again the city of San Antonio has proven why moving here was one of the best decisions I've made. Very good Mexican food, awesome tortillas, good service, pricey. But it's pricey every where else. Went back at 7am worse food ,tortillas were hard, papa Mexicana was not fresh reheated, picadillo taco ,tasteless. I mentioned to cashier she didn't seem to care could see her & other waitresses just laughing, 4/8/23 this restaurant has plenty of business every day, so they don't care about my complain

Tried this place for the first and last time and the food was just ok. When we got our chips and salsa, the salsa had a fly in it. When we went to pay we saw where they were keeping the salsa, in an uncovered slow cooker next to the chips with flies buzzing around it. It was gross. I can honestly say that there are far better restaurants right down the road, We will not be eating here again.

I ordered the chilaquiles plate and as always it was delicious. Get there early and the service is super, get later and getting a seat is a wait. Also try the coaches taco ( bean, egg, bacon, and cheese) super good.

Great food!! Great service!! They have the best home made lemonade!! From fresh lemons!! Not!! The can powder stuff, like other restaurants try to pass off, as real lemonade!! All the food is great there, but you guys out there, have to try their Chicken and Beef CALDOS!!! They serve you so much, in that large bowl, that you won't want to eat anything else, until the next day!!!

Do not go to this restraunt, they will bring one plate at a time to your table. Mind you my daughter ordered pancakes and we waited a good 7 min before they brought her syrup. Pancakes were already cold. If you cannot bring all the food at once do not bring them at all. It's a waste of time and money, will not be coming here again I'm sure you can get better service elsewhere.

I’ve been going here for 10 years and I can happily say that I have not found another Mexican restaurant in San Antonio I prefer over El Sol! The of the southside! Anytime someone from out of town or not on this side I recommend or take them here. Service is always great and food is so good!

It's usually pretty packed which is a good sign. We went for early lunch and snagged a table. Thank goodness because it was an AMAZING experience. We came from 8 hours away on vacation and a friends uncle owns the place so she sent us over. The carne guisada and enchiladas are THE BEST I've ever had! And they had live music playing! Loved it all.

Breakfast was wonderful and great. We sat in our usual corner in the back. Waitress was superb and that's why we keep going back...

She wears her clothes too small , an another thing she started arguing with another client in the cashier in front of all the clients very unprofessional of her part.

Owner very attentive and seems to care about customers , kept walking throughout dining area , asking if everything ok. I like that, most times dont ever see owners from other restaurants.

The food here is good. The last two times I ordered food to go they had me waiting an extra 20 minutes in the restaurant. This last time they gave me cold enchiladas. The cheese wasn't even melted. That's to say they weren't as busy as they usually are. They need to work on getting their to go orders out in a timely manner.

They were very accommodating to our large group. We went Sunday morning and did a great job. I had bacon/egg tacos. Only issue I had was the bacon wasnt crispy, but I didn't specify to the server either. The staff were welcoming. Overall, good place. Will come back when visiting San Antonio again. Keep up the good work.

Went for my nephews baby shower and got there late, but the servers were still attentive they brought me tea as soon as I got there and even had a plate of food! If you are looking for a place to host a party this is it! Food is always good, service is great, and they work with your set up.

Large menu selection for breakfast or lunch to choose from. Waitress could be friendlier as she does not even say hello or good morning. When our food order was brought to the table, we had to ask for silverware and napkins as well as drink refills. The food was good but the atmosphere needs wirk.

Food is not that well prepared. And they don't cook according to the way it's supposed to. You order a meal that is not authentic mex food. Ie ordered Mex sausage in sauce. It ain't cooked right. Cook sausage and they pour sauce over it. Not the way it's not supposed to be separated. Not bueno!

Chiliques are good and so is the rest of the food. Staff is friendly and its doesn't take along time to eat. Food is hot and fresh, it's a very good spot to eat at and worth the time to stop by and check them out.

Never been to this restaurant before. Service kinda slow but the food was delicious. Large plates and servings. Tried the fajita plate and the Enchiladas Mexicano. Both were very good. Great value for the price. Great tasting sweet tea corn and flour tortillas. They also do private catering.

The place is clean the owner he is a very friendly nice gentleman the waitress are very nice and friendly. They always have a big smile on their face, the only thing is that.there a little Wait for a table but it's all worse it too wait. I guarantee you ll.Thk you God Bless you'll n be safe.

Excellent service. The enchiladas are really good. My favorite. The owner is very attentive to his customers. I like that he comes to your table and makes you feel comfortable and makes sure that you have everything you need. Waitresses are very friendly, attentive and professional.

Good tortillas and beans. Very friendly staff. Only thing is they use American cheese instead of cheddar. Would be way better with cheddar. Not too expensive either.

The food is good, however my husband says the plates are to small for the prices. You get more on your plate at other mexican restaurants for less. This place is normally crowded, so the food is good. But if your a big eater, you might need to order some taco with your plate.

20 min wait but not all Tht great the menudo on the. Other hand is delicious

Great service good prices. Nice employee's. On the Mexican plate they put foil on One side and place the chalupa and crispy taco on it so they don't get soggy from the enchiladas. Nice touch.

Food is good and served hot. There is a wait during lunch time. This is a rockin place, people who are sensitive to noise such as lots of conversations and clanging of dishes, orders being called from the kitchen should stick to i-hop. Over all this is a great place.

First time here and this place was great! Food was hot and delicious. It tasted like old school tex-mex which was exactly what I was looking for. The staff was very courteous and the owner was really nice. Will be coming back soon. Nice big parking lot, too.

I love the food there. Omg I drive from the other side of town just to go eat there. One of my favorite spots to eat. I recommend you to stop by and try them out u will love it

Never disappointed with the food or service here. They have the right formula. The hot sauces are spectacular. The refried beans are heavenly. Everything is always fresh and the people who work here seem to enjoy serving. You don't always get that.

Their menudo is great. Not to spicy nor lacking flavor. Some of the girls are a little rude so sometimes it messes up the experience. Most of the ladies are nice and always remember to check in on their customers. The fajitas our my family's fav.

Great lunch specials. Patients tell me all the time they can't eat healthy at Mexican restaurants. Look at this place avoid the rice and beans and tortillas and eat everything else. High fat low carb ketogenic diet you will feel amazing!

Food was good but the wait wasn't too pleasant....we waited 20min to be seated and then another 45mins for our order. 3 sets of people got their order before us and we were there before them. People go at your own risk for poor service.

Fastci food and service. The food is fresh and perfectly seasoned. The service is even better than that. The waitresses are always friendly and very quick to take your order. Definitely a well kept secret on the South Side.

Just went there recently...and the waitress had a very ugly attitude....she took almost 45 minutes to bring my food....left us without spoons to eat with....very ugly customer service....food was cold when brought to us.

If your looking for good food and friendly service this is the place to be. Definitely one of my top 5 restraunt. The only thing about this place is its always packed. So please do expect a wait but definitely worth it.

1st time visitors. after getting to our table we did have to go ask the cashier to send a waitress our way so we could get some menus. It took about 30 minutes to get our food after we ordered. Food was delicious.

Every time when I've been there is been good. But this last time, I ordered Tampiqueña plate and the meat was too hard. Than the waitress just said "puras tragedias" and walked away.

Great food! The bald Mexican guy with the flashy watch is really loud and friendly! He kinda looks like a "wanna be Pitbull" (the singer).Never disappointed when I eat here.
