I use to think highly of this location but have had a change of heart as of lately. I booked a luxury vehicle, I arrived and they had no cars in that class available. So we then start walking around the lot in the rain, He then says we can get you into that Porsche or mustang if you want instead. I say sure and we go over to check them out, I choose the Porsche and he says okay great that’s $200 extra a day, and the mustang is $160. Which I understand why they would be more expensive but considering they didn’t have my car class and the way it was presented was pretty misleading I would at least get a better deal or something? At the city center location they hooked it up with a Range Rover no extra charge when that happened. Which if I drove off in a Range Rover at this location it was $184 more a day! I say what else can I get as replacement without an extra charge? He tells me some flatbed truck or some soccer mom thing, I asked how about the suburban? He said yes we can get you into the suburban! Then checked again and told me no actually he can’t. I asked him to cancel the reservation. He said there wasn’t another location open so I wouldn’t be able to get another car anywhere Else. I said what about the airport location, he then said okay well they are probably open. I left
They declared my drivers license “invalid” because there was a small chip that cracked off at the top, missing half of the all important “K” in New York. Somehow the license works fine with TSA and every other rental car agency. When I offered to show proof of ID from various other cards they didn’t care. I even went onto the NYS DMV website, logged in and showed a webpage that confirmed the current license with zero violations. Somehow that didn’t satisfy the agent either because “they are not as familiar with out of state licenses”. Fortunately my friend was nearby and able to rent a car, otherwise I would have been wandering Portland with my luggage trying to figure out how to get around on my vacation that was entirely mapped out based on using a car to get to different points of interest. Beware of this locations “very strict underwriting guidelines” and ensure you have a pristine physical drivers license with not a single blemish.
I started using Enterprise when I moved a few blocks away from this location about 9 months ago, and have rented a car at least once a month from here ever since (usually for day trips to places around Portland). Every experience I've had has been smooth and the staff is always kind and welcoming. I personally always make reservations in advance (so I can't speak for what walk-ins are like) but the entire check in process usually only takes 5-15 minutes (depending on if it's a popular time to pickup.) Also, I pretty much always do the after hours drop off (LOVE that they allow this) and have never had any issues with that either - just park the car, drop the keys, and then I get a confirmation call the next morning when they check the car in and a receipt in my email for the final charges. Honestly, probably a big reason I keep planning more day trips is because of how easy the car rental process is here.
I have been a regular customer at this particular Enterprise office - 17th & W Burnside, Portland - for nearly all of the four years we have lived in the Pearl District without a car. Their service has been top notch! But, recently, they were just plain outstanding. We needed a intermediate SUV for a 5,000 mile wintertime round trip to the central US. While they advised me that they “...couldn’t promise an AWD”, they assure me that they would do their best. Not only did they follow their claim “to make it happen”, but they sent us off right on schedule in perhaps the very best vehicle selection for our journey. This crew, all of them, are great; thorough, courteous, and great at listening and responding to what the customer needs. They will have my customer loyalty as long as I am renting my vehicles! Good job, and thank you so much.
I would not normally consider a brief comment/review for a rental car place, but decided to go with Enterprise over a compete tor because of the reviews (~4 vs. ~2 star rating), and was pleasantly surprised, enough to contribute to the rating. Prices were fair (go for the weekly rate if you need it more than a few days, especially if you can pickup/drop-off on a weekday), and we were happy with the car. Pickup was only a few minutes and exactly as it should be. Drop-off was surprisingly quick; probably under 60 seconds once I stepped out of the car, even with other customers there that day. Indeed, the phone call to extend the car was quick and painless, and the price on the receipt included no surprises. Nice job, Portland enterprise! Your mileage may vary, of course, but this is a pretty good location to rent a car from.
Before going personally to this location, I checked on-line to see what cars they had available. I saw both compact and standard sized cars listed. Since I was staying just a few blocks away, I walked over to rent a car. What I found was that what was listed on-line did not match what was showing on the web site. I was told that all they had were the much more expensive models. When I expressed my concern I was told that it was normal for the web site to be inaccurate. I found the manager there to be very rude. My complaint was justified but, rather than apologize, I was told “we don’t have to rent to you”. One of the worst customer experiences I have had. I walked to the Pine Street location and found the representative there to be super helpful and understanding. What a difference good customer service makes.
It was my first time renting a car from Enterprise. I made reservation online and walked to the location at 1623 W Burnside St, Portland OR 97209 to pick up our car. Cameron was the gentleman that assisted us with our reservation. Cameron was very professional, friendly, and thorough throughout this process. We liked the car Cameron reserved for us, the car drove very nice and we didn't have any issues while driving this car. We returned the car the next day on schedule, the check-in process was done by someone else, and it also was very fast. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience renting a car from Enterprise at this location. I highly recommend this location and will definitely come back in the future. Hopefully, we will get to work with Cameron again.
Enterprise upgraded me to a BMW sedan for my one day rental. Whoopee. However, after about 15 minutes on the road I finally managed to read the fuel gauge and saw that the tank was 1/2 full. After I arrived at my location about 75 miles away, I filled the tank, which cost about $39 for premium gas. When I returned the car and complained that the tank was only 1/2 full when I got the car, I was informed that Enterprise provides a full tank, only when the rental is an an airport. I had never heard of this. So if I drive 100 miles round trip how do I know how much gas to put in the tank. This is a foolish policy and I may give up my almost 30 year rentals (all at airports) at Enterprise. New renters to Enterprise be aware of this policy.
We had booked a car to go to the beach and the first rental car location had overbooked and told us we would not be getting a car. We had walked a mile to that location and felt defeated and went back to our hotel. I found a nearby Enterprise, and called them and spoke with Michael, and he confirmed they had a car on the lot. I told him it was a 34 minute walk for us but we would be there as soon as possible, he said we can come pick you up. I was so impressed. Not only did they pick us up, they upgraded us to a larger vehicle and drove us back to our hotel the next day. Enterprise is amazing, and Michael and Matt went above and beyond. Thanks for helping us!
I used to prefer Enterprise whenever I'd rent a car, but I can't support them anymore. They hid damage from me during the vehicle check, then sent me a bill for a windshield crack that was there the whole time. I was bounced around support departments as they fed me lie after lie for months, running out the clock until they could threaten me with a collections agency. For all I know, they already had a previous renter pay for the damage, and decided to collect a second time just because they could. I can't stand any other rental services in town, but at least none of the others have stolen over $1,000 from me for a piece of glass that I didn't touch.
Absolutely the best place to rent a car while in Portland. Our experience was nothing but positive when renting through the summer months while in the USA. Staff knew us and treated us like family ever time we arrived for pickup or drop off. All of the vehicles we rented were in perfect condition, and the team always ensured we received the best vehicle that we'd reserved (always had a good selection).Position is of the yard is great - easy to get to from the MAX if you're on public transport before your pickup - and dropping off is just as easy due to close proximity to the 405. Highly recommend - can't wait to see the team on our next trip.
The customer service is always great at the Burnside location. I came late in the day and was still able to pick from some good options. I had an emergency and did not make it to return the car before closing. I called and spoke with someone who saw that I didn’t pick up the car until late so he was flexible with the return time. They called me the next day to advise me of the charges and I noticed I was about to be charged for an extra day. I called and they took it off with no problem. I was appreciative that they took the time to let me know the balance before charging my card. They will always be my first choice when renting!
In my many years of travel, experience has thought me that Enterprise is the most professionally operated auto rental agency. It’s been 5 years since I last rented and we were no offered a briefing on how to operate some “hidden” devices: 1) when it rained, how do you vary the speed of the wiper; 2) where is the switch of various configurations of the front lights; 3) how to open the truck, same with opening the door for gasoline. Plus, in the interest of safety I can’t imagine you not furnishing “blind spot” indicators. When I gave this feedback to the local manager, he gave me 25% off the rental, i wonderful surprise.
What an absolute dream team here! Cole is simply the best. Honestly everyone I have worked with are incredibly professional, efficient and knowledgeable. It’s really hard to find service like this anymore. Especially with all the changes during the pandemic. These humans are so kind and do an amazing job at following Covid CDC guidelines. You just feel that everyone here really cares AND they are great at their job!!! Plus the cars are super clean and you have lots of choices so they will find the car that meets your needs! Highly recommend this location to anyone looking to have a flawless rental experience
Long time enterprise renter. While almost all my experience have been excellent, my most recent in Portland OR was pretty poor. I rented a truck, they didn’t have any and I had to take a car (I needed a truck), the car had not been cleaned, and seemed like it had not been in several rentals. I was given the car with 1/4 tank of gas and told to return it that way. How do I plan that? I ended up returning it with at least $30 more in fuel then I got. The after hours location I was told to use had a defective key drop that wouldn’t accept the keys. Nothing good about this specific experience.
We live in the city and don't own a car, and Enterprise is our go-to for car rentals when we need to travel longer distances. The cars are always in top condition, and the staff is polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. They make renting so easy on the website and app, and I love the incentives they offer. We recently had to rent from Budget because Enterprise was out of cars over a weekend, and what a nightmare! The experiences online and in person were so disappointing, especially after having such positive experiences with Enterprise. Guess which company gets our future business?
I called to see if they had a suitable-for-moving vehicle very last minute and the agent on the phone was very helpful, quick and fair in guiding me to the right vehicle at a good price. Maric (sp?) helped me when I arrived in person and got me situated and on my way quickly and with good spirit; customer service was outstanding the following day as well. Typically I'm cynical about car rental processes but I actually enjoyed my time (which was brief) working with the staff at this office. There was a problem with the car but that, too was handled efficiently and professionally.
Thank you so much to the manager of this location who assisted me with such amazing grace that we will never forget her. Renting cars in our lives usually happens while problems are afoot. Our own personal car broke down and we had to rent and renew our California lease at this location. Well, this manager and her staff made this possible and easy. We had driven from one Enterprise location to another trying to find one that was actually open for business! Finally we found this location and they were all hard at work. Anyway, 100 stars, and thank you again. (written in haste)
So far our best experience with a car rental process. Madison P., the assistant manager, was a pleasure to work with. Even though we booked it at the different branch and other potential missteps on our end she kindly navigated our situation to make it pleasant. She was the first person from enterprise that clearly explained our corporate discount policy and didn’t sense any unnecessary up charge pushes. I hope her approach with her customer service is appreciated by the branch and the company. Thanks Madison for helping us with our car rental!
I have been coming to this Enterprise for the past 5 years and nearly every experience is excellent! Most recently I had rented a car for a weekend trip up north and chose a full-size car. When I arrived, the first car that was offered to me was a little smaller than I needed, but Brad could tell I wanted a little more space. So he helped find me another vehicle to accommodate my trip, continuing the trend of great customer service. I highly recommend this location to anybody living in Downtown Portland that needs to rent a car. Thank you!
Scheduled a rental for two days through the exotics side- showed up and was told the car I rented was not onsite, but I could "upgrade" at a discount to another vehicle for about double what I was paying, or wait an hour and a half to get the car onsite. The owner says they tried to contact me, but left no message or email and I have no call history. Wasted my money to get to the rental location, and further wasted my time and money by making me look elsewhere for a rental. Completely unexceptable for a "luxury" service.
I accidentally left some personal paperwork in the glove box when I returned the car. I called back 2 Days Later asking if somebody could check the glove box for me. They told me that they couldn't find anything and if personal paperwork was found, that they would just shred it anyways..why wouldn't you reach out to the person first? So if you found the person's S.S card in the glove box you would just shred it too? SMH. What a joke. Will not be going through enterprise again for awhile. Avoid 1623W Burnside location.
I honestly have mixed reviews. The in person customer service is nice, but speaking over the phone with representatives made me feel like as a customer I didn’t matter. A female used the phrase that she was customer facing and couldn’t help me any more with a reservation issue. My last rental had two electrical issues and I called customer service but no one followed up with me or compensated me for the fact that the USB ports and sunroof stopped working while I was driving. And it was raining!
The good: I will continue to use enterprise when I need a rental car, they been the best service out of all the companies I've used. The bad: (The service once they go to me was good.) Was a small location, compared to several ive been to in the past, and this one was busy.. They seemed to be short handed, I showed and had to wait several minutes before I was helped. Then when I returned, had to wait close to 10-15 minutes to have someone check me out.. Still the best of the rental companies.
These were fast, efficient and courteous. I am super glad I had a good experience this time around. My first experience with the guys off of 102nd was terrible. These guys have great customer service and are very personable. I would be more than happy to rent from this location again. Great selection of cars of all sizes too which I enjoyed. I can't remember the man I worked with, but man he was awesome. Had me in and out in maybe 7 minutes tops. The rental car was very clean and nice too!
Much more economical to rent at this location instead of the airport. Very nice, friendly, fast service. Only complaint would be car was dirty and had no gas. For the price we had to pay even at this location it should have been in better condition and ready for pick up. We dropped it back off after hours on a Saturday. When I didn’t get a final bill by Tuesday I had to call before one was ever generated. If you don’t mind the small things, overall this was a good fit for us.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car just never disappoints. I got a fantastic Ford Fusion hybrid that was spacious, quiet, and yeah... Over 44 mpg! Staff was very nice and the service was speedy. I highly recommend the Burnside and 17th location as it's an easy walk to the MAX train to the airport. Just remember the MAX at Providence Park has two separate locations on either side of a large building. Make sure you are standing in the right place for your desired direction of travel.
I rent from Enterprise often, and my experiences have nothing less than stellar. Today was different. The 17th & Burnside, Downtown Portland location is not acceptable regardless of your standards. Skyler the Manager is friendly and nice on the phone, in person not so much. The remaining staff is untrained and clueless to procedure and customer service. it's disappointing to see the lack of work ethic there. I would recommend the 4th plain location in Vancouver.
They were really easy to set up. Also the most affordable for the right car. I did have any hidden fees or extra charges like when I've used other car rental companies. It was completely contactless and the car was really clean. The agents and service people there were all really nice to me and made it the quickest and easiest car rental I've ever had. I will be using their services again and recommend them to my friends and family.
The process to rent is very easy on the app. There are no hidden fees they throw at you last minute. If they don't have the car you are reserved then they give you an upgrade at no extra cost. All the people there are very nice and inviting and make the whole process quick and easy. If you need to drop of the vehicle any where other than the original location there are no questions asked and they process it the same way.
People were fine, but rented a intermediate car and they gave us a compact and insisted it was an intermediate. UPDATE: We talked to Enterprise customer Service and the District Manager for this location (I believe her name was Rachel) and she took care of us right away. We went back to the Enterprise location and were given the correct car. This is the type of customer service I have come to expect from Enterprise!
I always rent from Enterprise, but I visited this location for the first time last weekend for my trip to Crater Lake because of their weekend hours. I was greeted very nicely, treated very kindly by the customer service rep, and I even enjoyed a conversation with one of the employees (Dani) regarding our shared love for editorial work. A very pleasant experience and a nice way to start off the day of my road trip!
Great friendly staff. They worked to find the right car for us and to change our reservation days. I'll warn you. It's a busy place. I don't think they have time to fully clean the cars as they come in. Double check it if it's important to you. I had to turn down a car because of the strong pot smell. The car we got had personal items under the seat and trash in the cup holders. Still it's convenient.
Everyone at this location was so helpful. I love that I can pick up the phone and talk to a human at the location I rent from - that's some old school customer service that's hard to come by nowadays. Ron was super helpful in getting me into my rental, and was way helpful when I had some issues with the rental. Took care of the problem right away and was super nice about everything. Thanks!
Wonderful team. Very professional and corteous. I rented a car from the Pine St. location and returned it here the other day with no hassle and very little time spent waiting. Every employee I could see was hustling and doing the work to ensure customers were taken care of in a timely manner. Will rent from these locations of Enterprise for all my car rental needs into the future.
Arrived there after booking a car with them telling me “wait for the car it’s getting cleaned” I waited for 40 min then asked again and they yelled “are you the one who booked the economy car?we don’t have any right now would a van be ok ? Someone else rented it” I said “but I booked it “ they said “ya first come first serve! Sssory , you can try another car rental agency “
If I could give zero stars I would. The men who I’ve encountered at this location are respectful and easy to talk too. The blonde female “manager” needs to learn when to not speak if she’s not the one working with the client and getting the facts from the customer. Her negative tone makes you cringe. Easily the Worst experience of my life renting a car from her.
Wow I was really impressed with the staff here. Veris and his team really helped me get the best car rental. It was quick, the staff were friendly, and I got a great deal. There was a car shortage, and a mix up with the insurance left me in need. This office did above and beyond to help, while the other office I went to didn’t offer to help. Thank you team!!
I had great experience here. They both allowed me to pick up the car when I needed it for emergency without prior reservation, and they worked with me and were flexible on surprise return. They even adjusted the return for me in order to save a day back. Will definitely go here again if I need a car in Portland.
Very pleasant and efficient staff got me going quickly; car was as advertised. There were no pushy upsells of insurance, etc. Check-in at the end of the rental was also very quick and pleasant. I'd definitely use this location again when visiting Portland. (Note that rates are much cheaper than at the airport!)
Limited selection, rented a car that I had to re-clean upon closer inspection when I got it home. A month later, I needed a rental on little notice and was told one would be ready that afternoon, on return, only a more expensive car was available that with visible fingerprints and smudges. Not trustworthy.
Daved was thorough and informative when picking up our car. Allowed us to select from a variety of vehicles in our SUV class and was able to deal with my charge card with a dead chip. The return process was equally as efficient. The Jeep itself ran great and would definitely return here next time.
I came in on a Saturday afternoon and even though they were busy and had no cars, they managed to find one for me and it was within my insurance coverage budget. The service is excellent, friendly and fast. I was surprised how easy the pickup/dropoff process is. Thank you Sasha and Heather!
Heather was the most helpful and informative Enterprise employee I've ever had the pleasure of working with! She walked us through the controls of the car, was friendly, and overall left us feeling excited and safe for our trip. I will definitely use this location again because of her!
Great staff. I needed to add an extra day and they worked with me on the change of day for drop off. Car was clean and no smoke smell was in the car that we had. We didn't have any car problems. Staff was clear on the payment and what to expect to pay when I dropped off the car.
Poor service, was interested in reaching out to another enterprise to help me find a rental… little lack of understand and didn’t seem to really care… yes the bmw shop miscommunication with enterprise set them up for failure but I was displeased with the service after that…
Great customer service and they worked with my schedule and their availability to make sure I was happy and taken care of. There weren't any "hidden fees" and they were open and honest about the options we could add-on. I would recommend them and rent from them again.
Skylar was 10/10 helpful and extremely kind to me, she was awesome finding me a rental after my car was totaled. I recommend this location purely because of her. She made it a very easy no pressure experience and I appreciate her help so much!
I have rented from Enterprise before and have come to expect quality customer service. The staff at the West Burnside location in Portland didn't fail. When I was given a larger car than I had reserved because of the high number of rentals
I have always been a big fan of Enterprise for their professionalism and customer service. About a year ago I decided to go car-less in my urban setting - and now I’m a “regular” at the Enterprise near my home when I need a vehicle and the
I have been using the Enterprise West Burnside, Portland office for years. They have always been totally professional and courteous. During the pandemic they had few cars available (like all rental car companies)- now, things have pretty
Pros: Staff is usually very nice and courteous. Cars are clean. Cons: The last two times I booked a car, they didn't have the category I reserved and so I had to wait for 30+ minutes for someone to bring back a car that fit the category.
Car was not entirely clean. Half an order is McDonald's French fries between the drivers seat and middle console, and a used vivid mask right on top of the charging cord for the car. Bad communication led to fees beyond my budget and I
Best road crew on my long journey to visit family on Thanksgiving and back home. Extended with ease when snow interrupted and credited the new wipers that were much needed. We love and appreciate the West Burnside PDX location! …
Great place great staff they were very helpful. I came in to rewrite my car contract after driving my vehicle for 30 days. Originally I got the vehicle in Canada and the enterprise had to coordinate with the Canadian enterprise and
Service is prompt, friendly and professional. My only hang up with this location is they seem to end up with a lot of vehicles from California that don’t have all wheel drive or 4WD that work better up here in the Pacific Northwest.
Good service! For me the only minus are prices, which are little high, specially with insurance and taxes, final prices were really higher than I expected! But service was good, stuff was kind and helpful, car was clean and good!
Absolutely the best experience I’ve ever had with a car rental company!! The service was fantastic, the whole team there were friendly and professional. I definitely recommend the Enterprise Location on West Burnside in Portland.
Weekend pricing model and hours traps consumers to three days. If you are renting a car for the weekend be aware that the price you are quoted on line will NOT match what you are charged by this branch. In the app I entered
I've only used this location a few times in recent years, but as of 4/8/23, I couldn't be more pleased. Excellent follow-up and professional service provided by (Brian, I think he said his name was?).
Awesome car rental place. The Hyundai Accent was clean, got great milage and I was happy overall with my experience with Enterprise and this location in particular. The staff are helpful and friendly.
Everyone at Enterprise has been so helpful! My trip was extended by multiple days due to weather, and they were great about extending my rental. I even got a ride to Amtrak this afternoon. Thanks!
The agent was very welcoming and went over everything with me at check in and check out. Excellent service, I was impressed and will rent again as well as recommend Enterprise to my friends.
Missed my appointment at one location but another location not only accommodated my needs, was polite and went beyond the call of duty. Thanks for making my trip amazing to Portland.
Customer service was AWESOME! Very polite and very helpful. Loved that they were willing to get me and my family a car on such short notice. Keep up the great work guys …
Phone was busy, the wait was too long. Walked to the facility. Very busy. However, once the representative started the check in the procedure was smooth and professional.
Vehicle was not cleaned properly prior to my scheduled pickup. However, Bra D to care of the problem and made sure I was a happy customer. Excellent service recovery.
Employees were very nice we were surprised with an Audi! So that was fun. The location is perfect if you’re staying in downtown Portland. We walked from Hotel Lucia
Piss poor employee attitude. If you cannot talk to people or interact with them when they may seem flustered or upset, then DO NOT work in public facing job.
Personnel staff extremely polite, knowledgeable and helpful. I did not have to wait for assistance and was greeted instantly. The West Burnside is my go to!
We were so well taken care of by the employees here! We had just flown to Portland, and we took a train from PDX to a few blocks away
Easy, efficient car pickup. Initial confusion about adding additional driver but went to another enterprise site who corrected rental.
Shorah was very kind and welcoming and got me into my rental straight away. Very nice team at this location.
All about the staff! They are always helpful and friendly, Trent helped me out and the service was stellar.
They ran out of cars so they upgraded me, gave me a price break and got me on my way. Couldn’t be happier.
Excellent service and a nice vehicle. The team was professional yet seemed to care about my experience.
Easy access, good car, reasonable rates, good service people - what more could you want?
Very good customer service, staff were friendly & professional, prices are reasonable
Appreciate the new van very clean and pick up time was great! Thank you
