Tl;Dr: Poor communication very much felt like intentional invoice-padding tactic... Dismissive attitude by associates. Full story- I rented a vehicle for Tuesday through Thursday this past week. I picked up at 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday. "C" got me settled in the car, and before I left, I said, "so return time by 5 then?" He said, "Yep!" I called yesterday afternoon to inquire with C about options for extending my rental and was informed that I was already being charged for a 3rd day. I asked why and was informed Enterprise rents in 24-hour increments (side note, "C" says at this point "You were supposed to have the car back at 8:30." First, my rental time was 10:50, not 8:30. Also, if I was supposed to have it back at 8:30, why was I *in no uncertain terms* given an affirmative answer by YOU when I verbally asked if I needed to have it back by 5? Because he either wasn't paying attention or was intentionally trying to mislead me into increasing their numbers for the month. How many cumulative rentals does this location and Enterprise as a whole tack on to their revenues by being intentionally unclear with their renters and hoping they don't notice or follow up?) I understand this policy and I see how it makes sense for them, however in the dozens of times I've rented through Enterprise in the last 15 years, I've never to my knowledge been charged another full day for bringing my car back in the afternoon. Regardless, when I directly asked C if I need to bring the car back by 5 *this* time, what else could I have *possibly* been referring to other than my return date? Seriously... what else? I politely pressed for an answer. C said he was going to remove the 3rd day's charge for me if I could have the car back by 5, but still without answering my question. I said thank you C, I've always had great experiences with Enterprise and everybody there who's helped me, told him that I have respect for them and apologized for my end of the miscommunication. In retrospect, I was giving him more respect than he was giving me. When I pulled in the parking lot at 4:45, C was standing on the parking lot. By the time I parked the vehicle 4 seconds later, he had disappeared (draw your own conclusions at this point) and "J", who I had rented a vehicle from in November, was standing waiting for me to exit the vehicle. I remembered him and said "Hey! Is your name "J"?" He kept his head pointed at his device and didn't acknowledge me. I was standing 8 feet from him with no other noise around. Again- "HI! Is your name J?" -"Yep" -"Thought so! You helped me in November when I rented last" with a smile (yes I was wearing a mask but you can still tell when people are smiling ) -"Maybe." Maybe? I was like... did this guy really just say "maybe"? How is that even an appropriate or reasonable answer? So much for being friendly and... normal? Professional perhaps? "I'm sure C told you about the miscommunication." "We refunded your third day." "Yes. Thank you. For my clarity moving forward, I had wanted to ask what Christian thought I meant when I asked if returning the car by 5 was what was expected. I'm not sure if he just wasn't paying attention or what the deal was, but it really just takes 2 seconds to give the customer some clarification so we don't end up in situations like this, you know?" J couldn't have been much more flippant, dismissive, and ready to end the conversation. Just repeated "that's our policy, we refunded your third day", damn near stopped short of saying "what the hell else do you want, lady!?" I waited a few minutes for a printout and left feeling really bummed out about my whole experience. I worked with Enterprise on a B2B level for a while about 15 years ago and had nothing but great relations with everybody there at that time and every time I've rented cars since then. I felt like I was being treated like I was a difficult customer, when I'm not, at all. Not sure if it's the culture at this location, or if Enterprise service standards overall aren't what they used to be. Glad we have options. Bummer though.

The staff is really friendly and helpful. Because I have used this location before I don't have to go through a lot to rent a car. However, this time I booked my reservation on line, and booked an intermediate sized car, and when I got there, I was put into a car that did not have the same space. When I asked about the reservation she said based on the price I was paying this is what she could do for me. But if I wanted to pay more I could have an SUV. I was just looking for the car that fit "5" people based on intermediate size. (I have an almost two year old, in a car seat and a 5'8" teenager). Granted the purpose of this car was for me to just get to and from work while my other car was in the shop, however, it was cramped if I had to do anything else outside of that. I did have to renew my contract for a week, that went fairly easy. But I actually went into the store to do this, to see if there was a car with a little more space and again I was told the same thing. I just dealt with it given the circumstances. When I returned the car-painless. Dropped it off, was given my final bill and off I went. When I was asked if they could do anything better, I did not go into it because I was dropping the car off during a lunch hour, and hey, if I was told twice the same thing I did not have the energy to argue it any further. I don't know if the fault is in the website reservation or the store knowing what the website is offering. I would think that a little black 3 door car does not really constitute intermediate, but I don't know if the associates see size or price. None the less, I will more than likely rent here again. But I will have to print out my reservation, what I am expecting and maybe the response will be better.

I recently needed a rental car when my personal car was totaled by a hit and run driver. A quick online search showed that the Enterprise location on NE Sandy Blvd could set me up with a compact car at an incredibly good daily rate. When I arrived at the location the next day, they didn't have any compact cars on site, so they offered me a different vehicle (a 4wd pickup truck) that was a considerable upgrade but still charged the original low rate. I accepted this on the spot, and was grateful. In hindsight, after being in such a violent accident, it was psychologically very helpful to be in a bigger higher vehicle. I originally booked the rental for just a few days, as I didn't really know how long I would need it. I was simply waiting for the official word that my insurance co was definitely going to total my vehicle, and then I planned to purchase a replacement (I need it for work, so time was of the essence). As the days passed, I had to call and ask to extend my rental by a day or two 3 different times. Each time I called, the folks at Enterprise were extremely helpful and accommodating. They kept my upgraded rental at the same low rate for each extension. Ultimately, I was provided with an excellent vehicle, a fantastic daily rate, an upgrade when they didn't have my specific reservation, and very quick and personable customer service at a time when the rest of my life had been flipped upside-down. Thank you to all the folks at the NE Sandy location of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. You made a very difficult two weeks of my life somewhat easier!

Came here based on the positive reviews. The car I rented was fine, but staff was a bit greasy. I already have auto insurance and a guy named Thane tried to convince me that my insurance would not work in Canada (not true) and to purchase their in-house insurance for x amount a day. I came home with a rock chip on the windshield and this is where it went downhill. Ordinarily a rock chip costs $25-$50 to fill in, but I get a speech from Thane that I would be looking at up to $500 to replace the windshield - BS! I've had rock chips filled in many times on my own windshield. There were no cracks in the glass at all. Their damage recovery unit was to contact my insurance company and sort out the rock chip but they never made the call. I followed up with my insurance company because I hadn't heard anything in a few weeks, and the insurance company had not received any calls or notifications from Enterprise. They conveniently took the exact amount of the deductible, $250, and cancelled the claim themselves. So if this is the kind of service you like get at the end of a long road trip go ahead and come here. *UPDATE 6/6/17 Followed up with their customer service email below. Submitted my case and did not receive any sort of follow up/phone call*

this review is specifically to zach rubin - i went in after a long long stress of my car being hit by a fedex truck when it was parked in front of my house....i'm 23 and very low income, as most 23 year olds. the whole thing was such a stress through my insurance, luckily for me i had set up coverage for a rental car. through my insurance it was free, but enterprise charges a fee. $50 for a credit card, $200 for a debit card. i don't have either of those amounts in my possession, and don't own a credit card. my mom was going to pay it for me, which is unauthorized because the card has to match the name of the person renting the car. after very little trouble, zach waived the fee for me. he has no idea how much stress that took off of me and this situation, and it was such a blessing! zach, you really made this whole experience just a little bit better and i appreciate you so much for taking that stressor off my plate. thank you for being you!

Overall professional service. Received vehicle and had overwhelming smell of air freshener. Later in the evening I got into car and almost smelled like smoke (not from wildfires). I’m a non-smoker and found myself having slight allergic reaction. Customer Service Problem: Enterprise in the Portland area (Sandy/Gresham etc). I rented a car Thursday to drive Friday and return on Saturday or Sunday. Representative said most locations in the area are closed Saturday and Sundays. Additionally few had lock boxes to drop car and car keys off. Only facility close for me, with a lock box to return car and keys, was Sandy Blvd. I was also advised, if I return car and keys on Saturday or Sunday, I will be billed as returning car on Monday! I am a loyal return customer and use Enterprise professionally and personally. I just think there is something totally wrong with this return procedure. Thank you for listening.

This was a great location to go to. There was a bit of a wait when I arrived to pick up my car, but the staff was very aware of each of the customers who had been waiting and were kind in how they explained that to new customers walking through the door. The sales associate who helped me (I wish I could remember his name) was so nice and accommodating. The only thing I would say needs improvement is, please be thorough in explaining that there is a $100 authorization hold put on the credit card until the car is returned. Not being explained that fact ahead of time (I spoke to a sales associate when I reserved the car a week before) almost prevented me from being able to rent a car and would have messed some things up pretty good for me. Luckily, that did not end up being the case. Other than that, I had a great experience with this location!

Enterprise located on 28th Sandy has great customer service. They try to help you get a car or SUV of you’re choosing. If you don’t particularly like the car after driving it a couple of days or more, they will gladly let you exchange it for a different car if there is one available. I didn’t like the seats in first car I rented they didn’t adjust well, back was hurting. I had no issue bringing it back and choosing another car. If you don’t know how to work a feature in the car, they will gladly show you how. I didn’t have a way to get to Enterprise from body shop while my car was being repaired. I had made reservations to pick up a car beforehand. I informed them I may not get there at set time, that I was trying to find a ride. A person from Enterprise picked me from body shop to pick up my car.

From the moment I called, their service was unparalleled. My car was totaled (it was hit while parked and thankfully no one was in it) and I needed an immediate replacement. They Told me to come in and they would take care of me immediacy. When I arrived they were friendly and when they heard we were moving in the midst of getting the car totaled, they upgraded us to a minivan which was a godsend! Returning the vehicle was just as simple. I had left some scrap wood in the back and was asked if I wanted it or if I want them to throw it out, I was floored that they caught what I left behind and so generous to remove it. By this point, I usually don't even bother to compare prices at other rental companies - Enterprise always has competitive rates, but more importantly, every one of the half-dozen locations I've used over the past couple years has had the same great service. This location on Sandy is near my home, and I'll occasionally rent an SUV from them when I need a larger vehicle for a few days. The cars are always clean and in great shape, and I'm usually driving off the lot less than 10 minutes from walking through the door. The employees have always been polite and efficient, and take the hint quickly about your interest level in all the add-ons they're obliged to ask you about. What more could you want from a car rental company?

Made reservations two months before rental date, no problem with securing a vehicle with my reservation. Other customers were not so lucky because, according to the customer service representative, the website allowed for over booking on last minute reservations which prevented them from getting a vehicle for their travels. The location was short staffed, but that was more of a available people to fill the positions due to the staffing shortage many businesses and industries are experiencing. Bottom line, plan way ahead if possible, to ensure getting a vehicle you need. Weekend, last minute reservations will probably result in some heartburn, headache, and unnecessary stress.

100% Satisfied with the staff and service at this location! We needed a mid-size crossover for a 7-day trip. I reserved the car online quickly and easily. When I arrived Reece (Assistant Branch Manager) was quick to get me to my car. He handled the process quickly and gave me several vehicle choices. We put over 1,000 miles on the car without any issues. Returning the car was quick and also a positive experience. They provided a ride back to the Amtrak station Immediately. After getting to Amtrak, I discovered I left my laptop in the rental car. Their driver rushed it back quickly and got it, so I had it before returning home. I could not be more pleased with their service.

The staff at NE Sandy have always gone out of their way to treat me very well. They always make sure I've got what I need and am happy - everyone on this team is professional and cordial. I try to rent specifically from this location no matter where I'm at in Portland - because there's always a pleasant experience here. The system used is quick, painless and very affordable. (Makes car sharing look financially irresponsible.) This is a high-traffic location, so it can be busy. Treat the staff with respect, and you will be a very happy (and respected) customer. I hope to do more business with Enterprise in the future, and that this team continues to excel.

Our experience of renting a car from Enterprise office at 2740 NE SANDY BLVD PORTLAND, OR 97232-2344 was most positive and gratifying. The staff members - especially Maria - were extremely efficient, friendly and helpful. The car was great - even got a free upgrade since they didn't have a clean car in the category which I booked. Instead of making us wait, they simply gave an upgrade. That was very kind. The car was in excellent condition and worked very well for us during our 20 day trip on west coast. The return was just as pleasant and efficient. I highly recommend this office if you happen to visit Portland area. I will certainly go to them again.

I found that this location was very accommodating. The problem was that I had originally reserved my car at the Downtown West location and when we arrived at the scheduled time, they were completely out of cars and did not notify us. They arranged to have us driven over to this Sandy location (without notifying them) and they were slammed. Fortunately, they gave us a free upgrade, but we lost time and were inconvenienced by having to drive all the way back downtown. I think the situation was handled as best it could have been for us, but I would definitely call ahead to confirm what's going on.

This was by far the best rental experience I've ever had! Josh Parisi and his team were incredibly patient and kind from start to finish. I had to take my car in to the shop and I got pretty mixed up the morning I was dropping off my car, and then a few weeks later when I was picking it up. Josh was SUPER nice about it all, beyond helpful, wasn't irritated at all (honestly I was irritated with myself so his patience meant a lot!). The rental car itself was excellent as well. Truly couldn't be happier and more grateful to Josh - thanks for making everything so easy!

My experience at this location was amazing! Not only was Gwen super helpful and a pleasure to communicate with, I didn't want to give up the car it was so much fun! The little red Sentra SR was perfect for our windy road trip up and down the Pacific Coast Highway and through Washington State, and all of the beautiful Parks & Beaches in Oregon. I love this Enterprise location. The staff is great. They offer a variety of vehicles to choose from and pick up/drop off is always fast and hassle-free. Here’s my recent experience from a couple weeks ago: I rented a Ford 4x4 while my car was being repaired; it was fun to drive, but too big for my needs and I found it difficult to park on city streets because it’s so long. The Enterprise staff let me switch to a Dodge Caravan. I left some things in the truck and the staff had those items and returned them to me.

I was in a car accident yesterday and someone from Enterprise picked me up from the auto body shop, which was incredibly kind in and of itself. When I got there to confirm my reservation, I stood in their lobby for probably 45 minutes dealing with insurance. Christian was polite, patient, and good humored. He was also on top of the game today when I called to inform him of a claim change. He saw it come through and handled it already since he knew what was going on. Phenomenal service all the way around so far.

I recently rented a van from Enterprise- to drive down to Klamath Falls, OR. I was really glad that I went to the agency a day ahead of pick up- to look at the vehicle. The Team gave Me all the help and time I needed to get a complete idea of whether the vehicle would suit My needs. Everything went well! their operations need improvement - The reserved car wasn't ready when I arrived to pick it up; there was a leaky tire that I had to fill 2x with air to make my customer appointment on time; they gave it to me with the gas half gone and did not follow through with a credit on my bill for my troubles. I am really disappointed given the amount of rental car competition on the market that they don't have their act together. wearing a tie is fine for some, but professionalism isn't just based on your apparel.

Took the Max in from the airport, called and was picked up by Enterprise on a corner near the station. This took a while as they seemed very busy. But when I arrived at the Enterprise office things went smoothly, quickly and efficiently. They were very busy when I dropped car off, but again, things were professional. I imagine if this wasn't a busy season, the staff would have been a bit more personable. Reasonable prices and would definitely use Enterprise again.

I used to work in the rental industry, so I have seen this type of business from both sides. That being said, I was totally impressed with the customer service here. No signing of paperwork. Everything was done electronically. A wide variety of vehicles were clean and ready to go. A quick and painless rental process. Plus, they are open on Sundays. This means no missed work on a weekday to pick up a car. Enterprise is great, and always seems to be getting better.

I rented the second level from the cheapest and everything was fine in terms of the reservation. There was a lot of hard selling on an upgrade but I only needed a small car and figured I'd already upgraded a bit anyway. In the past other companies have had Bluetooth and cruise control at that level. Not Enterprise! Turned out it was a super base model with absolutely nothing added. Next time I'll probably pick another company for a better car.

Renting a car from Enterprise was a good experience for me. The car was clean, efficient and ran comfortably. On the way to Portland from Eugene, OR the highway was closed down for 2 1/2 hours. It was hot and sticky. I spent some of that time in the car, turned on with the air conditioner on. The car stayed cool, the engine stayed cool and used little gas. This is one of the smaller "local" offices for Enterprise, and I am routinely pleased with their ability to adapt to the needs of their clients. This day was particularly busy and I needed to wait in line - not big problem. I had a choice of cars and the one I chose was clean. Checking out and back in were fast and efficient. The bill was exactly what I expected it to be. I will keep reserving my cars from this location.

I've used this Enterprise location a few times when my car has been in the shop, and every time they've been fantastic. This most recent time I was using Enterprise because an Amazon delivery driver hit my car. Lexie (Branch Rental Manager) helped me navigate the confusing mess that is Amazon insurance and Sasha (Assistant Branch Rental Manager) made sure I got a vehicle that fit my needs. I would absolutely recommend.

My insurance company set me up with a reservation for this company. When I called to finalize my arrangement the clerk said that I was right up the street they would pick me up. Then he said my location was too far away would I get a ride to where my car was going to be worked on and they would meet me there. I'm a retired person living in the area of 82nd and Sandy wouldn't that show when this was originally set up?

Had a fantastic experience working with Enterprise. Both the people that helped me were amazing! I know the one was Kyle and I wish I caught the name of the other gentleman that helped me! It was on Tuesday morning Sept 28th 8:30am if that helps!! Would def go back if I needed another car rental. They took me to and from Mackin's Auto Body where my car was getting worked on. So grateful for that added service.

When I arrived we were helped quickly and given the choice of 3 different cars in our reserved class. Paperwork was done in no time and we were on our way. Return service was just as prompt, I don't think I've ever had such efficient service when renting a car before. I have rented cars from a lot of rental places and this staff is the most helpful, I have ever encountered! They listen to what I need and are courteous and helpful. One slight problem with the car was dealt with quickly when I returned to the lot. The price for a two week rental was the best I have ever paid. I will use this location of Enterprise every time I return to Portland!

Lexi was phenomenal. Overall just an extremely friendly and helpful person. Knowledgeable in her job. She opened and held the door for us and she told us all the cars on the lot that were available. She never once made me feel out of place and treated me with great respect. This location is small but manageable. Look no further for excellent customer service and great attitudes.

The folks at Enterprise were friendly, we received fast service, the type car we reserved was available, and the price was what we expected. The only complaints I have were that it only had 1/4 tank gas and the passenger side seat was very stained and dirty. It wasn't a big deal to us, but it looked like the car had not been cleaned inside or out when we picked it up.

Great experience all around! My insurance company had made a mistake and the wonderful folks at this location jumped right in to save the day. They helped sort out the situation and got me into my rental ASAP. Even called the next day to make sure I was happy with the rental and see if I had any questions. We were able to rent a (nearly) brand new Toyota 4Runner. The staff were super-friendly, courteous and responsive. We received several texts, e-mails and a phone call from Enterprise while we had the vehicle to ask if we had any questions or to let us know that they were there if we needed anything. Staff is polite but clearly severely understaffed. Be prepared to wait an exorbitantly long time. We called ahead top of the morning and were told the car would be ready by 9:30 am, showed up around 11:45 and they waited until we got here to do their vacuuming etc. Currently waiting twice as long as they quoted us when we showed up and counting.

Very easy and convenient especially if you reserve online. I recently rented a car for a week. There was an erroneous charge on my bill. I called the company and they corrected the situation immediately. I was very pleased with the quick response, and because I talked to a very helpful and friendly "person" without much wait time.

We always rent from this location because it's convenient, they're good about pickups/drop-offs, and the staff is really nice. Josh Parisi and the rest of the staff were super helpful. Josh went above and beyond to find the best car to fit me, and my manual wheelchair.
