Got the catfish, which was really good, but their desserts were way too sweet. Had to try their alligator bites, because I've never had alligator before! It's true what they say - "Tastes like chicken." Their jambalaya is also really yummy, and I might get that the next time I go.
This review is for their poboys. We used to eat them at least 3 times a month but they have gone so far downhill lately. Sloppily made and lacking ingredients. Thought we’d give it another chance and This was the better half of my crawfish
Hands down best red beans and rice I have found in Austin. The staff is AMAZING and has never let us down. We went for hubby’s birthday 12/2023 and brought friends. They’ll be back hubby gets the catfish with crawfish Macque or the
The food was okay. The portions were horrible. For the amount of money that I spent on dinner just to get back to the hotel to see a bunch of rice. There was much to be desired on the flavor side. Gumbo was bland. Shrimp Creole was nothing
A special place in South Austin filled with hospitality and big easy ambiance wrapped up in old Austin vibes. Service is fantastic and food is tasty and hot. Seats are always filled and that is a sign of a well managed dining establishment.
We always enjoy our meal when we come to Evangeline's, the fried pickles were one of our favorites in our most recent visit, chip style and very thin and crispy they were awesome. The cocktail sauce here is one of my favorite things, I get
I was excited that I stumbled across some authentic Lousiania cuisine in Austin. Evangeline's is a neat Cajun inspired restaurant. The owner is actually from Louisiana. He was extremely nice and down- to-earth. He actually came out of the
We were seated at a tiny table where everything had to be constantly reshuffled to make it work, it was dinner time so that may be why service was a bit slow. Had the frog legs which were heavily breaded and lil shocked to bite into bone,
From the outside it’s easy to overlook in a nondescript shopping center but once you go inside you are transported to a Louisiana hangout. The food is nicely prepared and the staff is super friendly. PoBoy is big with tender shrimp. Gumbo
The atmosphere was awesome & the service was good. Our server may have been busier than usual so we weren’t too bothered having to ask for multiple things. The food tonight though was really disappointing. Based on a Google list of “best
My husband and I had the shrimp po boy lunch special. I had the fries and he had the red beans and rice. The sandwiches were very good, although they could have had a few more shrimp on them. The beans and rice was tasty with just enough
Evangeline's has been a favorite dining place of ours for years. They may have changed ownership. It was the little things that took away from our recent visit. I always request a straw for my cold beverages. When I asked for a straw the
Evangeline is a place I remember to visit only occasionally, but the food is excellent, the atmosphere cozy, and on weeknights the music is lively. Did I mention the food is excellent? From the Louisiana hot wing appetizer to the Hank
This place has been on our long over due to do list. Finally had dinner here on Saturday evening. Pretty small restaurant but they definitely use up all the space they can. We had a small wait as they were pretty busy when we arrived.
This is definitely a gem! The food was really good. The hostess and the servers were really nice and made the visit all the more worthwhile now. I highly recommend you try the shrimp pasta! It was definitely a banger.
Nice staff but dont understand the hype. Poboy had 5 shrimps on it, Gumbo was extremely salty and again had very limited seafood. And finally the gator was mostly fried crust and limited meat.
Cool music, the food is OK, too salty and not spicy enough. The big problem is that the menu lists crawfish etouffe at $17.99, but the
TLDR: a solid place to scratch the cajun itch in Austin Came here for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was absolutely popping, and
Gumbo is often overcooked in my opinion. But great spot. Plenty of parking but not many tables inside if it's cold at lunch. More
