I don't usually post reviews but after speaking to some of my other dental friends it's obvious to them that the strategies used in this office are extremely unethical. Before booking an appointment I called to ask if they are in network with metlife insurance and the receptionist on the phone said, "yes we take that insurance" and because I was not specific enough I went in thinking they are in network WHICH THEY ARE NOT. I did get a low plan this year which only gave me a 1000 maximum for the year. I went in for a check up and cleaning and I was given a treatment plan for some fillings and 3 different types of night-guards, I mentioned that I wanted to get at least some of my fillings done this year, HOWEVER, the out of pocket cost that they were explaining to me DID NOT MAKE SENSE. I was being charged for almost every filling OUT OF POCKET. They tried to explain to me that I would be maxed out already but I could not understand why if I haven't had any work done except for my initial visit. about a month later I received my statement from my insurance company and I found out that MY INSURANCE HAD PAID THEM 900 DOLLARS FOR MY INTIAL VISIT, leaving me with only 100 dollars left over for my actual treatment. I called my insurance company and they explained to me that because THEY ARE OUT OF NETWORK that they bill out their high office fees, which are about 900 for that exam and xrays and cleaning they did at my first visit. I was extremely upset because I had initially called them specifically asking if they are in network and they told me yes they "accept it" ***BUT JUST BECAUSE THEY ACCEPT IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE IN NETWORK ***, they try to use different words to trick you into coming to this office, instead of being honest. I spoke to a rude receptionist named Amy who speaks like she never received a college education. Her answers to my questions as to why I was deceived regarding the insurance were robotic and rehearsed. I don't expect someone with a job like hers to be a genius however I do believe I deserve to be spoken to with more class. I am almost positive that the people in this office follow a strict script on how to answer their patients. I never received an answer to why I was deceived this way and unfortunately they got away with taking my money from my insurance. I will just be looking for a new dentist with professional staff who aren't trained to lie. I also did check out their page on the BBB and have seen reviews similar to mine. As well as these other reviews on google which confirm my thoughts on the unethical practices in this office.
I have never had a worse experience with a dental office than I did with Expert Dental. First, they initially took back the wrong patient to the examination room when they intended for me to come back. After sharing my information, they realized that person wasn't the right patient. While a problem with one tooth spurred me to make an appointment, I asked for a general examination (if there's one problem area, there are often more). Instead, I received x-rays and an examination for only one area of my mouth. Additionally, after the dentist, Dr. Park, examined my teeth, she recommended a cleaning but said there was no structural damage to my teeth. After being sent to the back desk to make an appointment for a cleaning and full examination, I was told by the scheduler/receptionist -- in public around other patients -- that I had two cavities and she gave me a paper with the estimated cost for treatment. I was so taken aback. A patient's private health information should never be shared in a public setting. And any diagnosis should always come from the provider, not the scheduler. I decided I would never let them near my teeth. I made an appointment with another dentist on the Upper West Side who took many x-rays, examined my teeth thoroughly, and said there were absolutely no cavities. I would strongly advise against making an appointment at Expert Dental. Their staff also needs serious training on the importance of protecting private health information, with an emphasis on not giving diagnoses in public, however inaccurate they turn out to be.
When I went,it felt like a factory. I waited in a waiting room with tons of folks, and then had a cleaning. The dentist came in for a few seconds to tell me very rudely that I’ll need completely new teeth in a few years, and proceeded to tell me other big procedures that I’ll have to do today. She saw me for only a minute and was so rude and abrupt. She then shepherded me to a saleswoman disguised as a receptionist. The woman quoted me 10,000 for the small procedures I need ASAP. I have gone to other dentist regularly my whole life and have never been pressured to do elective things. They made it seem like a matter of life or death, and when I told them I can’t afford 10,000, they said that I can just pick and choose a few of the things to do. I took the treatment plan to a few other dentists for a second opinion who were completely shocked that this happened. They said I may need a filling but other than that, my teeth were quite good. Expert dental used fear and rushed me in order to try and manipulate me out of a lot of money. My next dentist charged me 200 only. The worst part of Expert dental is the fact that their sales people won’t leave you alone. I received dozens of emails, phone calls and texts pressuring me to come back asap and get these dire procedures done. I started having to block email addresses and numbers, but they just used different numbers and email addresses. This place is a dental factory and will likely scam you like they did me. Avoid this dents factory at all costs.
*****They pay for good reviews with gift cards***** Incredibly predatory and unethical dental practice that also does poor work. They told me I urgently needed thousands of dollars of work done, despite the fact that my teeth were fine when I saw my previous dentist 6 months prior. They botched a routine filling, were rude and charged 5x the price of other dentists in the area. A receptionist explained the "treatment plan" to me because the dentist just rushes in and out. I told her I only wanted to do one filling and she tried to get me to sign a contract stating that I would be financially responsible for all the work I didn't want to do. I pointed out that it would be unreasonable for me to agree to pay for work that I didn't want and she got incredibly mad at me. I did let the dentist do one filling, which was a mistake. The drill broke in the middle of the filling. He told me he "needed" the broken drill but could manage with something else instead. Afterwards, I couldn't eat on that side of my mouth for a few weeks without excruciating pain, and it took about three months for it fully to subside. Following the filling, the receptionist tried to overcharge me with the uninsured price - which I highly doubt was a mistake after her previous anger at me. I subsequently found another dental practice in Midtown East - blocks away - that charged 5x less, with the same insurance.
This office is the most offensively corrupt place I have ever been to. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau They put availability in their zocdoc schedule so that you book with them, then they call you and tell you that the appointment time is not available, that the doctor is not available and that they are more than happy to reschedule you to a better date (per their text messages) if you don’t answer they harass you with calls and then cancel your appointment. If you do end up rescheduling with them they book you out for like a month and half when they actually have the availability. I’ve tried to schedule online multiple times and finally figured out this trend. Also I’m currently investigating how they have been able to get away with billing a different provider than the one that was seen. I believe this is insurance fraud. Apparently billing under certain doctors will pay them more. Perhaps an audit to this office is in dire demand Managers here are Amy Rubina Heather Claribel and Sharon. If anyone reads this review - for your reference.
I have been visiting Expert Dental since 2012. I have to say that dental offices were not my fave as a child had very bad experiences In past. My daughter recommended Expert Dental to me and we have been coming here for years they offer all services in house. My grand children see the Orthodontist there Dr. Lin. I’ve seen several of there doctors and hygienist all great! Staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, they take my insurance which is a plus!!! It’s 2023 to date I have no complaints about this office!! Highly recommend! Thank you Expert Dental.
Dr. Khezri is amazing and has changed my outlook on life. I can now smile which I have not been able to for the last 15 years. They do full mouth rehabilitation and they are the best! The whole office is professional, honest and so caring. Special shout out to Rubina who helped we through the whole process from day 1 that started 1 year ago. Her warmth, kindness, patience and smile has been so comforting through my journey with Expert Dental. This office has truly changed my life and changed how I see the world. Thank you Expert Dental team!
Saw several dentists and dental teams since the beginning of the year. I’ve always been nervous about going to the dentist and never returned. This is the first place in my life that has made me feel comfortable and they educate you step by step for each procedure. Dr. Lee and everyone made me feel comfortable. Even my 2 year old was comfortable and compliant as they were gentle and caring with her. Definitely worth getting your dental service here.
Expert Dental has been such a perfect experience from beginning to end! Cleaning was amazing and Dr.Shah was really informative and detailed. The hygienist who did my cleaning did a very thorough job with no pain! She made me feel as if this was my first time going to the dentist ever! They’ve addressed all my concerns and gave me proper patient education on maintaining excellent oral hygiene. Highly recommend this dental practice for everyone!
I previously went to Expert Dental PC 2 years ago (2021) and they did a great cleaning but basically attempted to price gouge me to get services I really didn’t need. Today I went back again and it was a much better experience - Rose and Dr Tsai were great. They were thorough, kind and had good bedside manner. Nobody tried to get me to do unnecessary services or guilt me. They seem to be improved!
I had a great experience here. From my first call - they were transparent and up front about any potential costs which I really appreciated. Dr. Mizrahi was kind and took her time to explain what was going on. My wisdom teeth extraction was a little intense but she made sure to check on me throughout the surgery.
I had general dental cleaning followed by a dental implant procedure. Everything was easy and well managed; they provided excellent service from start to finish, which I very much appreciated. I’ll continue to use Expert Dental as my primary care dentist. Thank you Dr. Ma, Dr. Miller, and the entire staff.
It was my first time visiting Expert Dental today! The staff here is excellent and left a long lasting first impression for me. Everyone is welcoming and kind, plus my appointment went well and my wait time was only 2 minutes! I look forward to next my appointment. Definitely recommend this place!
Great experience and have been a patient here for a few years now. I am a nursing student and they are extremely flexible with scheduling. They are open 7 days a week and until 7 PM on the weekdays. All the providers here are very personable. Always a treat when I get my cleanings done here.
The administration team was super professional and their follow up was amazing. Their admin team worked with my schedule and very understanding and accommodating. Their team of doctors were attentive and very patient. I can’t wait for my next follow up!
Theresa was my hygenist and she was super sweet and pleasant. She was very informative and gave me amazing tips to maintain my teeth to keep it clean. The doctor Ma was super sweet as well. Very nice staff. I definitely like coming to expert dental
Love this place have been going since 2018. Have never had a bad experience. Only thing is I rarely get the same people twice though I don’t make an effort to ask for specific person. Hours are flexible and it’s the best cleaning I’ve gotten ever.
I'm so glad I came here today. Dr. Gao, Sunny, and Laney were amazing. Everyone was so quick to finish all the processes. I'd recommend anyone to come here. Thank you for your work, and it's really great that you're open on Sundays!
Great visit all around! Everyone in the office is extremely kind and made me feel very comfortable from start to finish. Dr Charms and my hygienist, Theresa, were fabulous. I shockingly want to come back to the dentist.
