Due to character limit, this is heavily condensed. Driver called day before pick-up asking if we were ready. Told him day was wrong. Told to speak with Alex. Alex angrily insisted pick-up was 6/5/23. He refused to even consider picking up on the scheduled day of 6/6/23. "It's your family's fault for not being ready on your pick-up day." It was today or nothing at all. I called my broker Safe Ship Moving Services to ask what my pick up day was. They confirmed 6/6/23. They called Alex. I receive a text from Alex saying, "We will be there at 12pm". I call the broker again. They confirm pick-up is 6/6/23. Broker calls Alex, she told me, "He told me that you two spoke this morning and your family wants pick-up at 12pm today." I inform her that my convo with Alex was: "I was wrong about the pick-up 6/6/23, I must leave today. It's my fault for not being ready. There will be fees and charges if we aren't ready. He stated multiple times, impossible for pick up 6/6/23. Calling Alex back after realizing that he lied. She learns he had a cancellation on 6/5/23. put my pick-up down for that day while booking his team out for my planned pick-up on 6/6/23. I was informed that pick-up was 6/6/23, on 6/4/23 by my broker. Within 24 hours of confirming my pickup window Alex changed it. He then lied to my family about the dates, blamed us for not being ready 24 hours ahead of time, and lied to the broker about our conversations. The broker then let me know that I had to let them come today or there would be delays finding a new company to move our stuff. (a week within the end of our lease). Driver informed me "extra" materials outside those covered by the estimate cost extra. We ended up having extra items. We had to sign a new estimate before packing would begin. Estimate went from $6,000 to "no more than $10,700". We had no choice so agreed. Vacuum cleaner wasn't packed. They crushed the corners of our dining room table, broke one of our office chairs. Lost the pins to my Fiance's office desk (now its useless desk pieces). At the end they show me the bill. They charged me $500 for wrapping 20x items in packer's wrap. I was not informed until after the truck was packed that it was outside the estimate. They charged me nearly $400 in assorted boxes and tape. Listed our content as being 1375 cubic feet of material. They had a half empty 23' truck. I had approximately 1000 cubic feet of material. Meanwhile, I get a text from Alex saying they gave us a "discount" because of "our" misunderstanding that morning. With the driver I ask where the discount is, he says, "if there was one it would go on this line" he gestured to a completely blank line. I then ask about the discount Alex told me they were giving me. He starts back pedaling and claiming that they just didn't count something behind the scenes. I sign because I must since they've got all of my worldly belongings on their truck. Our stuff took "only" 5 business days to reach our home. The day before our stuff arrived, Alex calls and asks me to prepay $1400 dollars of our remaining balance for "internal reasons". I refused. Alex became upset. Why would we hesitate to just hand over $1400 over Zelle the day before. Maybe we will have problems paying the total tomorrow. etc. I again refused. The "internal reasons" at Express Van Lines are not my concern, nor is it my responsibility to pay ahead of receiving my furniture and I told him as much. Throughout the process it was made clear, half at pickup and half at dropoff. No over the phone transfers of $1000+. I counted each wrapped item and took a photo. 7x items were wrapped but they charged my family for 20x. One of the wrapped items was our dining table which they managed to damage anyways. Both standing lamps were completely ruined and crushed midway up the poles. Our experience with Express Van Lines felt like an absolute scam. Alex will lie to you and your broker without reservation. NEVER use this company. If you hire a broker INSIST that they not contract with Express Van Lines.
There seems to be a pattern in these reviews. Either great or horrible. Our experience was a notch above horrible, but it was far from good. We, too, had problems with Express trying to raise the cost of our move substantially. But, I’m not sure if Express was the problem or Tower Moving. See comments below…. We recently contracted with Tower Moving and Storage for an interstate move. Tower subsequently farmed the work out to Express Van Line based out of Las Vegas. I'll skip 95% of the detail to focus on one problem. When our household contents were received, aside from some broken furniture legs, and other damage that can happen in a move, two wardrobe boxes of men's clothes were found to be thrown in without the use of a crossbar resulting in NONE of the clothes being wearable because of excessive wrinkling. The owner of the goods contacted the dispatcher, Alex, who advised there was nothing they could do because it wasn't "damage". Legally, they are likely covered. From a reputation perspective, what was done by the packer was clearly wrong and the owner of the goods should not be financially penalized for carelessness made by that packer. The owner was not demanding the clothing be dry cleaned/laundered. He simply asked if someone could steam the clothes to remove the wrinkles so they could be worn. Express Van LIne says "no". Poor business decision, and when the other problems not even discussed here are put into play, I would encourage no one to ever contract with this company, directly or indirectly. Putting all the issues together (not time to do here) shows they just don't care. Don't forget I left out 95% of the problems to focus on this one.
I scheduled movers from safe ship, and these guys came to pick up my stuff! I've been packing and preparing by myself so, things were messy to say the least. There were 4 guys total, they had everything as far as tape, boxes, ETC.... They were motivated, friendly , and took care of everything. My cost/fees did go up from the original quote, They also had to repack a ton of stuff, and I added a few things in.... I was told prior, paying with a credit card you must add 4% , you can pay with Venmo or PayPal, but I choose not to. I can't say yet if everything will show up at the destination, but I do know that every single box has a number. They do go by cubic feet, so if you are booking, make sure you overshoot your estimated boxes. Considering, I feel like the added on price is reasonable. I know they did a good job of packing and getting stuff out in a timely manner, it elevated a lot of my stress. Thank you guys!! I am so thankful i didn't have to drag that stuff down the stairs. My heroes today.
USE SOMEONE ELSE! This outfit will do everything to scam you out of your money and possessions. They enjoy the bait and switch. We had nothing but issues from the start when our estimate doubled once everything was loaded onto the truck. Then they told us we couldn't get our things until we paid cash in full prior to delivery. When our estimate doubled they promised we could use a CC for a portion. Then changed their tune once the truck left. They finally allowed us to use a CC for the balance but made us use Venmo and accept all the CC fees ourselves increasing our cost yet again. We were told that we paid for a dedicated truck. That was a lie. Our belongings were transferred and combined on a different truck and packed in with 2 other loads. This resulted with damaged furniture, and missing boxes. Now we're 2 months and still dealing with their insurance. RUN!
I had an unexpected death in the family and had to move belongings from Las Vegas to Pennsylvania. They were very professional from start to finish. I was very happy with the service provided especially at this very difficult time.
Express Van Lineprovided comprehensive and professional service. They exceeded our expectations through quick responses, friendly interactions, clear planning advice, and easy scheduling.
The crew came through big time! They showed up on time, quickly packed everything, and even helped me disassemble my bed frame. I couldn't have done it without them.
They labeled every box, making unpacking easy to do. Even our kids' toys were sorted by category, so setting up their playroom was as easy as child's play.
The price was also very competitive, especially considering the quality of service provided. I would definitely use Express Van Line again in the future.
If you value the safety and security of your stuff, I highly recommend this company. This Packers squad is the best in history.
