Via Rail is an amazingly luxurious way to travel, and I highly recommend it. The only problem I had at Fallowfield Via Rail station, and it's a huge problem, is that when I arrived (early) to catch my train to Montreal, all, every single one, of the parking spots were taken up by people waiting for arrivals. These people were not paying, they were simply parking in the paid spots, which forced me to park in the park and ride next door, which is not for via rail passengers, but I had no choice. I had to drag my luggage to the train station in -32 degree weather. Via needs to start enforcing no parking for people coming to pick up passengers unless they are paying, or have a "loading" zone so people can wait for arriving passengers. For this inconvenience, I have rated this station in particular very low. It's horrible to arrive for your train and not be able to find a parking spot so you can get to your train on time.
It was our first time taking the train from Fallowfield to Toronto. They got delayed on the way to Toronto over 40+Min (No Snow). I personally think that the trains are very outdated. It certainly wasn't a Business Class experience. We paid over $700 for 2 tickets 2 ways. The food was very bad, after booking the dates from the website the website did not give us more details about what we can choose (with pictures). The wifi did not work and was super slow most of the time. I do not recommend viaRail till they actually upgrade the trains and make them a little more Europe standards.
Clean and has nice bathrooms. Look, my family bought tickets online for the sole purpose of my kid riding a train. A short ride to the next stop and back. Didn't work out well for us. The train was so late that we would have missed our return train and had to cancel completely. Watching it pull away knowing it had my 90$ hurt. That's a deposit. So needless to say, we will not be returning. Likely ever. I don't see the train as a reliable transportation solution at this moment. Thanks for taking my money via, fool me once.
The station overall is really good, but the reason I'm writing this is because of the crappy wifi. This is back from 2015 when I took the train from Fallowfield station to Toronto. The wifi didn't work on my new (2014 macbook pro) computer. I asked the steward and she didn't even try to help. She said she would try to do something and that she would "be right back"... She never returned to help me and I couldn't connect. I missed many hours of work and deadlines.
Lousy as usual for Ottawa and VIA. Our public officials want us to use public transit but make it expensive and/or inconvenient or impossible to park and ride. Fallowfield parking should be plentiful and free. So should parking from all major transitway stations which you cannot park overnight so if you are going to the airport you can't park your car and take the 97. That would be TOO convenient. Wake up Ottawa and get into the 21st Century!
Good train station. Very simple ticket and check-in process, walk through the doors and get to the desk, then walk on the platform and into the train. The staff on both the station and the train were great and got me my ticket with all the discounts I was applicable for online. Besides that, lots of seating, a couple TVs, and three individual bathrooms inside. The vending machines were out of order.
garbage. they renovated it but it is a open breezy location. if the trains are late there is plenty of very uncomfortable seating. there is no business lounge to wait in if you a a business ticket. it is better to go to the downtown location where there is an incredible relaxing and accommodating lounge for business class, so when the train is late (usually is) you don't mind.
Limited services station. Essentially a big bus stop. Parking is paid-for (I really don't get this - the train fare should cover this). I guess one could park in the ParknRide OC transport parking, but at their own risks and perils. Oh, I absolutely hated the parking machine. Please, can someone change the keyboard layout to a QWERTY style instead of the ABCD style??
Very friendly and helpful service here. Parking was free for half an hour, which was the time I needed to be there before the arrival of my train, so my relatives were able to see me off. Very pleasant and comfortable small station with modern, pristine washrooms. Train trip was relaxing and scenic. Why would anybody fly?
Everytime I use the washroom here the toilets are completely covered in pee and I have to wipe them down. This place is far worse then any remote backwoods gas station, I would rather use an outhouse then the washrooms here.
Very clean station and when I arrived having missed my train by a second the man working the ticket station was amazing and was able to put me on another train so I didn’t miss Thanksgiving, thank you so much guys!
Great customer service! My husband and I couldn't take our planned trip to Montreal due to illness, and they went out of their way to give us the best possible refund. Highly appreciated!
good service and great railfanning spot its clear both ways for miles friendly staff near by food is gabriel pizza across the street on fallowfield rd transitway routes 94 &95 stop here
Aaron is the homie, we mistakenly went to the wrong via rail station resulting in us missing the train. Fortunately Aaron hooked us up with tickets for the next train. Pog moment ❤️
Essentially a waiting room. The one staff member on duty was friendly. It had a vending machine for snacks and drinks, but crazily overpriced so pack your own.
I love taking the train. It's the best way to get to Toronto from Ottawa. The Fallowfield station is basically a stop for a hop on or off. 5 minutes.
Not a large station, but perfect to serve south west Ottawa and Barrhaven. Clean and nicely laid out. Bring your own food, snacks and magazines.
Tiny station in the southwest corner of Ottawa. Good location for those that live close but not much in the way of a "traditional" station.
Can't give a 5 stars because of the paid parking while there's a free O-park bus free for bus riders, where people can leave their cars
I have always gone to fallowfield station because it is closer to us. Every clean station and friendly staff!
I missed my train by 2 minutes and they generously refunded my money for my mistake. Very good of them!
Practical train station, especially for folks living on the west side of the national capital region.
Close to the bicycle trails and great little place to wash up and catch a train if you have too ha
I took the train for the first time from Fallowfield and I enjoy it. I had great service.
Parking was $5 a day. Switched the parking management company and it's $15 a day now.
Nice and quiet alternative to Ottawa (downtown) station if you're able to get here.
Simple and clean station. Connects to the train so it's easy to get around.
c'était ma première fois et j'ai reçu du très bon service..Merci !!!
Good bus connections and comfortable lounge...
Convenient to Barrhaven and Manotick.
Great and easy station to figure out
Piccina e vicino a Ottawa
