"This fire engine was spotted opposite Pier 39"
"Engine 41 von oben und das Tor für sie"
This San Francisco Fire Station has the distinction of being the tallest and highest fire station in all of San Francisco. Situated mere inches from the crest of Clay and Leavenworth. It is a small facility with one fire truck, as the majority of structures are not taller than 4 stories. It is a pleasant quiet neighborhood, as the climb up is quite a hike, hard on the heart. But both the Muni #27 & Muni #1 inbound stops at Leavenworth and Clay street. Very scenic though limited. The air up here is brisk fresh, not tainted by the usual reek notorious of San Francisco. Me Pa when he retired from the City & County Fire Department, of Honolulu. Was the blue shift station captain of a plum station in Waianae, just a few blocks away from the beach. When he passed, the Pentagon sent an honour guard from the US Army & the US Air Force, the County sent honour guards from the Fire Department and the Police Department. Apparently me Pa was considerably special to our country.
This fire engine was spotted opposite Pier 39. I was told by a SF tour guide that 30 percent of all fire engines in San Francisco must be out of their buildings and on the street at any one time, so not to be trapped if an earthquake occurred.
